Water Cooler - 3

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Has anyone seen Sesame Street lately? I haven't watched it since before the Tickle-Me- Elmo craze.

Are any of the original actors still with the show?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes. Maria is still on.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

JD - you did good!! At least you had the right show. We don't actually watch the Sesame Street TV show - just DVDs - so what is the "Tickle-me-Elmo craze? They let you watch Sesame Street in prison Victor? Eleanor

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

A long time ago - like maybe 10 years ago or longer, the big new Christmas toy that parents felt compelled to buy was "Tickle-Me Elmo" - I think there were practically mini-riots as parents tried to grab them off the shelves. Needless to say, my kids never got one.

I wonder what happened to the other cast members - what happened to Bob?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Education is encouraged. Tickling isn't.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Bob is also still on.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

OMG - I definitely have to watch Sesame Street!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Mr Noodle and the other Mr Noodle were among my favorites.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

One of them died. Mr. Noodle, I think.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Correct. He was also in Evening Shade (which didn't last long)

I loved the other Mr Noodle in My Blue Heaven Great physical comedy

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not as good as Larry, Daryl and Daryl though.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Which brings us back to Michael Scolari and Bosom Buddies!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We come full circle here. And on perihelion to boot. What a forum!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Cosmic

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Cosmic indeed...possibly even bordering on hallucenagenic. (sp?)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What were you smoking when you tried to spell that??

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Guess I massacred that one, huh?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

too funny!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks Michaela!! That must have like the ugly Cabbage Patch doll craze. My MIL insisted on getting one for each of the girls and they didn't even want them - thought they were ugly. But she fought over them in stores cause the media said they were popular and every little girl should have one or two or three!! That's my MIL - anything I didn't want the kids to have she bent over backyards to get them. When the intendos came out (TV game things) my kids told their grandmother they wanted them and I said no cause i didn't want them sitting in front of a TV all day. She said well I'm going to order it right now from the JC Penny Christmas catalogue and even ordered on my phone in front of me. All the time with this ugly Cabbage patch grin on her face!! %#@&* Eleanor

p.s. - She's done a lot of things like that but I've got the last laugh. She's old now and needs her DILs cause her two sons are horrible to her (I wonder why - they treat her like she treated their wives). They do things for her but treat her like #%&@*!! I do things for her but I just have no love or respect for her at all and I have to turn off my feelings to be able to do them. Her other DIL is a little better but she didn't over hear her tell her DH that she didn't like his wife like I did!! Cause she needs me now she treats me like a queen and compliments me all the time!!

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

I miss Mr. Noodle, too. He was great in The Green Mile. . . . or was it Mr. Noodle's brother?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i've been watching Plaza Sésamo (among other shows) to help me with my spanish - it's pretty entertaining. (sometimes i can even understand what they're saying - well, better than i do on the telenovelas!) Big Bird is a red and green "parrot' named Abelardo, Bert and Ernie are Beto y Enrique, and there are starring muppets named Lola and Pancho...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's cute. I was hoping my wife would teach my sons to speak Spanish as they grew up but she didn't. Now we're looking at some kind of dvd or computer program. Rosetta Stone is supposed to be great for adults but I don't know if they have a kids version. I have to check.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

how old are they?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

5 and 9

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

How did you find the Rosetta Stone?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Eleanor - I'd say you are a saint to be there for you MIL after all that!! Good for you......"Virtue is its own reward." I'm sure you can go to sleep better at night because of your generous spirit!

Victor, Dave and JD - I think you are a bunch of peri - hellions!! LOL

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

thanks!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh, LOL!!!!!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm watching Uconn men's basketball. So far so good.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Do they have a basketball team?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

2 time national champs. More players in the NBA than any other team. The women will be champs this year. They both did in 2004

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah, but what does Imus think of them?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Don't know. Wooden loves them. great teamwork.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm playing - they're a powerhouse. Especially the women.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Have you gone to many games?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Fair amount. Past 3 years I've had the season home games on campus (as opposed to in Hartford) Its 9 games. We did women, then we switched to men. We're pretty open mided.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you referring to the players?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Dave, I'm beginning to understand your choice of profession......
