Hello everyone and thank you for all the compliments and good wishes. I finally got some sleep although im still a bit foggy.
I am very proud of Tiffany, she did an amazing job with this being her first born. She had read every book she could get her hands on and had a great support system.
You are not going to believe this but there were 13 people in the birthingroom. 2 doctors, 1 nurse, a 4th year resident medical student, and the rest was family and friends.
Her best friend Jade drove all the way from Blackstone, Mass. to Maine in that snowstorm in a Chevy Cavalier. It took her almost 3 hours just to get out of Mass as 495 was in a gridlock. She left at 7pm and arrived before the birth of Oryanna. We were very worried about her driving all that way but what a trooper she is and Tiffany is very fortunate to have a friend like Jade.
The picture is beautiful, but im partial! Actually, the picture speaks volumes to me as it was the first time Oryanna heard her Mother's voice in the mist of all that chaos. She had been crying, but when her Mother spoke to her she stopped crying and opened her eyes to look at her. She KNEW that voice and had been waiting to hear it. Tiffany held her close and whispered "Hello Baby O..Momma's been waiting to hold you in her arms for 9 long months." It was a moment I will always remember and treasure.
Louise, that is a beautiful bloom and as soon as Tiff is able to access a PC I will show her it. I also want to share with her all good wishes from everyone and what a great bunch of cyber friends I have here at DG.
I am truely blessed, and most grateful for all of you.
Humbled and with much emotion and gratitude, Pixie

What is it with all the babies? I just got a call that I have a new grand niece! She was a little early but is doing well. Her parents named her Lola. Poor child! She will be hearing that Barry Manilow song for the rest of her life!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats! Let's see if she gets whatever she wants.

Congratulations Yank! There was a total of 13 babies born in that 24 hr. period while I was at the hospital with my daughter.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Doesn't it seem that a lot of babies are born before or during very stormy weather?

AYC ~ congrats on the new little niece! Personally, I LOVE the name.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yank, I like the name too..maybe she will never her Barry sing that song, but chances are she will.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Love the Kinks song. I'd be more worried about living it down than Copacabana (i had to think for a minute what Lola had to do with Barry Manilow...)

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry-cola
C-o-l-a cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola
L-o-l-a lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Well I'm not the worlds most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man
Oh my lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Well we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candlelight
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said dear boy wont you come home with me
Well I'm not the worlds most passionate guy
But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me

Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
Its a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Well I left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said dear boy I'm gonna make you a man

Well I'm not the worlds most masculine man
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

See - I told you all it wasn't a good choice for a name!! Oh well - the Dad hasn't even graduated from High School even though he is in his 20's and doesn't intend to - his Mom said school and grades aren't important!. What chance does the poor Lola have? Guess I better start a college fund for her - she doesn't have the same Mother - so she might have a better chance in life then her Dad. I hope so anyway. (I could kick my little sister's keister - if we were speaking.)

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

one thing i have learned is that people can live up to their names or transcend them. there are names i'd probably like but for someone that ruined them for me, and there are "ugly" names that sound much better when you've known someone fabulous with that name... (there is something about that in the Anne of Green Gables books - living to make your name beautiful)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I am named after my maternal grandmother (Carolyn) but it was decided upon the moment of my birth that I was to be called "Carrie". On the Lamont side, people with the name "Carrie" are all really named Caroline. So everyone on my father's side of the family, up to and including my father (!), thinks my real name is Caroline. Oh! Congratulations and welcome to Oryanna and Lola - I hope you'll like it here.
