Dave,

I think this thread has become counter productive. Would you consider closing it and opening a new one to bring the focus back to the project of building a winter sowing database for DG?

Good call. I'm working on the database right now and when it's ready for testing, I'll post a new thread about it and close this one out.

From this Nubie, add my Aye! I am just getting the hang of this site and now I am going to try WS because of the wonderful seed swap Beckygardener did.

I wish, somehow, all the WS "How To" advice already on other threads could be incorporated into this proposed WS Database.

Dave's Garden is the only Garden I am interested in visiting because I feel safe here.

Hey distantkin! I haven't read through all of this thread today so I may be repeating something listed before but I was just reading throught that thread pupil linked to above about horror stories. It quoted part of GW rules:

"All posted material becomes the property of this site."

If that is true, the data you or any of us has posted there previously, cannot be used on our site. Our own data is no longer our property. And judging by the fact that Trudi has admittedly posted errors to "catch us" I'm quite sure that means she will enforce the "It's our database" rule to the max.

Robbi -- Though i have just "met" you [so to speak] the other day when you popped into Upper Midwest ...
i have to say.... I have read and re-read twice looking to see where it was said that we [Daves] wanted to "copy, steal, or build upon" the WS.org data base.

and Carrie was the first to mention asking Trudi to "resource", again, nothing about stealing, copying, etc.

I can see why you have been upset, especially if some one has stated you need to apologize ... apologize for what? asking for a data base that will help others?? that's just silly.

and I too have used Trudi's site, a lot last year and linked to it many times ... but now seeing there is false information there.... i do not foresee me using it every again... and how knows, maybe that's the way they'd like it.

well... 'nuff of this. The sun is still shining [even though it's freezing outside] but lets dust off and try to forget the nastiness.

I'm looking forward to this. Perhaps I'll finally learn to grow things!!

And it's raining in California today - whoopee! Please pray we don't get floods. Wishing some of the same for the Southeast states, too.

Aaaak! I haven't read all the posts, but I wanted to ask Dave if we could somehow link our Journals into this database somehow. I'd like to update my Journal with germination and have it transfer to the propagation or WS database without having to enter the information twice.

Am I making sense?

I still haven't read all the way through, LOL! But last year I wintersowed a heck of a lot of annuals that didn't bloom until August. (I probably could have bought cell packs at the garden center in March and had them blooming all summer)

There needs to be a place where we can say, "Yes, it will wintersow in Z5 midwest, but you won't see flowers until summer is nearly over", or "Yes, it will wintersow in Z5 midwest, but starting inside will give you much better results."

I see a comments section was mentioned. LOL! Should have started with that.
