Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yep,I had grilled some rib eyes last night, they were delicious also, but so were these pork chops!!
When ever the weather is 50* above I grill outside, sorry Chrissy, got to have my meat and potatoes!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Grilled food is good for you TM! Just cut back on the fats. Lolabelle, our baby chi celebrated her 1st b'day last weekend. Kel grilled her favorite Milkbone and a 3oz sirloin burger!!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

TM, no tonsils for me. They got so severely infected they came out in what was a new sugery back then called ears, nose and throat surgery. lol. I don't miss them. :~)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Oh Heaven that little fat on the steak or pork chops is what makes the taste so good!!!
I cut back on it,but it still hangs on my belly!!!LOL

Pep.do you get less colds now?

What time should we be over for diner? Looks scrumptious!
I've got my tonsils and I plan on keeping them! I don't know what they are for, but I am sure I couldn't yodel without them.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yeah, that grilled fat also sent me to the hospital!
G'nite TM. Rest your eyes.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

They yodel in Hawaii?? Nite all!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Heaven, did you get choked,or like me 2 heart attacks and a 5 by pass!!!
I don't eat it all the time, but the Dr. said moderation, moderation,so I do every other time!!!

BH,too late we ate them already and gave the bones to spike and yummy the cockatoos!
Man they love them bones!!!!

BH you also yodel?
Now would that be as in Country music yodel as in the Cattle call by Eddie Arnold?

Or one of the blonde hair Switzerland's yodeler from top of the alps!l LOL

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Swiss ones LOL! It helps when the coconut wireless is down and I have to tell Frank to pick up milk on the way home.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

TM, I don't think it matters one way or another about the colds. I used to get colds all the time when I worked at other job still but now that I am outside I only get the sniffles cause it is so darn cold!!! LOL.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahh TM, 5 bypass here, and today I'm off for my "maintenance" check-up! Stay warm y'all.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Will be praying for your good health. All of you.

Christi

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Were with you heaven, and I'm off for the diabetic Dr,this morning, been fasting all night!
Need my coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!! FoooD!!!!!!!!

Wow guys all those health problems! our doctors are jumping up and down about the "trans fats" this is found in "hard fats"
I won't rave on ( I am sure you have googled it already) but you need to be a little careful.
TM you asked about our children becoming overweight ,well they are also found to have hardening of the Arteries and diabetes in record breaking numbers. The Doctors are saying Coca Cola and fast food are to blame.I think from what I have seen with my own grandchildren is ...the two football players are very lean and my darling computer loving grandson who plays no sport, is not fat but unfit compared to his active brothers. My grandaughter has been working in an office for two years and gained 2 stone. she now has started a walking routine and the weight is coming off again.
So from what I figure is that if you work very hard ...the weight is most likely not a big issue (of course genetics do come into it also)
As a child I remember only one overweight child in my whole school experience. We all walked every where ...played sport at school 3 times a week and did not know what take away food was.
We did not have TV (another culprit) and played outside until it got dark. Life has changed.
As we get older our motor slows down and requires less
fuel. So now we have health problems. In many ways I think we have swapped good health for convenience.
Me I won't give up my conveniences or my computer. What is the answer?
As you said moderation :) and balance.
And plenty of gardening! ha ha ha

Chrissy...I am indeed guilty of not watching what I eat!
You know Asians' main diet comprise of greens and fish. Since I moved here, I am influenced by red meat, gooey pizzas and crispy fried chicken! None to blame but myself. Funny thing is I am not seriously overweight.
So when I was rushed to the hospital, the diagnosis surprised me and the specialists! Being an Asian, my arteries are extremely narrow. So years of abuse led me to a 5 bypass and diabetes as well.
So, back to Asian diet, no sodas and no sedentary lifestyle!
Thank you Christi for your prayers. Was wondering who's whispering in my ears at the doctor's office!

My dearest, sweetest niece in all the world has been type 1 since she was under 6 years old. She is now 31 and lots of complications. Par for the course. For the last three years she has been loosing her eyesight and is now legally blind. Chronic problems with her kidneys. Neuropathy in her feet and legs. In spite of it all, she is a professional songstress. Performs at highclass nightclubs as a torch singer all over the DFW metroplex. Never one time asked *why me*. Has a strong faith and has settled with the fact she will never have children. She has been my inspiration for these 25 years. I am always, always aware that no amount of money in the entire world will fix her problems. Therefore, if the problems I have for myself can be cured with money, I have no problem. My mother was and my MIL is diabetic. Very familiar with the problems it presents every hour on the hour. I have much empathy for those who are living with this.

Oh h when we were designed by our maker there were no Supermarkets, fridges, cupboards full of temptation, cafes ,take aways etc.
There was the garden of eden and that was it! Like I said things have changed :)
Bless all who are unwell take care of yourselves ...good luck at the Docs.

I had the good fortune of growing up in the land of Red Bryan's Smokehouse, Sonny's dad. Mike's parents had a business just two doors from RBS. It is legendary in these here parts. Poor Sonny left us a few years ago...lung cancer linked to two packs a day. His main bbq shack is just that. Not hardly 400 sq ft in an industrial part of Big D. Lots of little franchises out now but not the same. My Mike can make the meanest ribs you ever ate. He occassionaly does catering. Next time he does ribs, just might talk him into some dry ice shipping. Oh, he uses lots of honey and brown sugar....thats probably a secret...don't tell anyone.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Thanks, but the secrets been out for years!!!
Been using it as well,,I'm not much on the dry rub,but they use it a lot back east
I like the moisture taste not the dry tasting barbecue, and not a lot of spices either!
Juicy barbecue,ain't nothing better!!!
And if you ain't getting it all over you, then you ain't enjoying it!!!LOL
Lick those fingers!!!LOL

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

hmmmm, finger lickin good....doesn't that belong to another food item!!!! LOL
It's all good to me! They have some good bbq here in Houston as well!!!
Love it!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's vinegar base bbq here....so...that's one food item I don't have to be forced to leave out of my food list.
Love Houston's bbq, especially briskets!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

So far my favorite bbq is Kansas City Masterpeice. I like others too but really can't think of them. Mostly restaurant ones that aren't for sale. lol

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah, Heaven, the briskets here are very good!!! There are several good BBQ Houses / Restaurants and even "Shacks" that really know how to do them Right!!!!
They are so good!!!!!!!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Texas and the KC area are world renowned for their BBQ. i love both bbqs. lol

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Is KC Masterpeice, from your area Pepper? If so, I like too! LOL

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Pepper,I believe there is a charlie Bryant BBQ thats really popular up there!
If my memory serves me right that was really good back in the 60's
not sure if he's in business anymore!

Ha ha ha ...ok I get the message, I remember what the Texans did to Oprah when she said we should not eat burgers or something like that. Enjoy your ribs and steaks and BBQ after all we only live this life once ...:)
chrissy

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

If you were to take bbq out of DH life, he would deem it not worth living. hahaha More the joy of cooking it and the aromas that go with it than his actually eating it. We don't eat anyone's bbq but his and have many friends that now declare they are ruined to eating out. Wish we could share.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Me too!!!!

Weather report Freezing rain this morning, ice everywhere,30*
But warm and toasty inside the greenhouses, looks like this naty weather will be sticking around for the next few days.
Pepper looks like you may get 3 inches of snow today!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

So, Chrissy, what's Australian bbq like? Had you ever tasted 'roo? What's the strangest thing y'all ever bbq?
When my ex decided to do a bbq, it would be me that would be purchasing the meat, marinade and prepare all the side items. On bbq day, he'd be donning his apron, wielding his bbq-ware and doing his magic on the grill. Oh well, of course he reaped all the praises! We even had alligator tail once on the grill!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Y'all could have the snow...cold enough here too!

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Oh you guys, 6.45 in the morning and I am starving hungry! Perhaps Mike will do some of his famous ribs for us Christi?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Heaven it got close to you yesterday,in Virgina!
Seems you all get bad weather right before spring each year, hopefully you'll be spared this year, but If I recall you all do need the moisture!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Morning BH,
Just toast and jelly here, with orange juice and coffee, for breakfast ,and trying to decide what I would like for lunch!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Don't remind me of that late freeze we got this year, TMan! Right before spring and so many killed in my garden. The local nurseries took a beating!
I apologise that I have nothing spectacular to show off...unless you haven't seen Portadoras :=D

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Love to see them, and anything else thats green, all white and icy here this am!

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Are Portadoras a type elephant ear? I would love to see them too! Ilove to see other peoples gardens and plants, wish I could do half as well as some of you..
So sorry some of you are getting cold weather in. Now is the time to sit by the fire with the new gardening catalogs and dream about next year.
Morning TM, lunch now, you say...Oh man! *stomach growling*

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

11:24 am,getting close to lunch, will it be ham or turkey,or both on my sandwich!

I have to search on line for my dream seeds and plants, and buy accordingly!!!
