Well, I'm back. We got mom's furnace fixed so she and my kiddo have heat again. Went to the grocery store too, so I'm done til its time to pick the kids up from school. I got dishes calling my name but I don't wanna do them yet lol I'll get them here in a bit.
Picked up a ham at the store, I wanted something different. So tired of the same stuff all the time. I'm in a rut here menu wise I think. So I got the ham, and got stuff for lasagna, I love eating it but hate the mess it makes to fix it LOL.
The ex's screen name is classiccars31 I know this cause I made his account LOL I don't think he has even logged in yet, but of course I don't know that for sure.
Marsue, so sorry about DH's back pain. Tell him I hope he feels better. I have back pain too, something called spinal stenosis, but thankfully it doesn't usually get bad unless I do something stupid I shouldn't. When I go to the ER, usually for my shoulder, they look at me like I'm just there wanting drugs. Cause I have the wrist brace I have to wear I think. I finally told an ER doctor one day that if all I wanted was pain pills, I could make phone calls and get them with less hassle, I just want my shoulder fixed! LOL
Kwan, sounds like you did ok on the interview... is it for a new job or like a promotion? you probably already said but I don't remember.
Its warmed up to a whopping 26 degrees here. Mike said on like Sunday its supposed to be in the 60's. Geez. I wish it would stay cold or get warm and stay warm. This up and down stuff is gonna make everyone sick. I got 2 kids right now with the snuffles (my 6 year old DS's word for sniffles and stuffed up LOL) I almost kept Sarah home, was gonna let her stay home, but she decided she wanted to go. I guess it was partly because she had to get dressed to go to the bus stop with us, she figured if she had to get dressed anyway she might as well go. That is the problem with having to take them to the bus stop, if one is sick I gotta take them too, can't leave them home alone.
My mom got new area rugs for her kitchen, and I told her to get me some of the same ones for me for Christmas, they would look great with the flooring we got LOL
Marsue, I can't imagine being on blood thinners, I'm cold all the time anyway!! When I went to my friends in Iowa this summer, she had to turn the air conditioning up cause she was freezing me and I still ran around in the house in sweats and a sweat shirt all the time LOL.. and it was 95+ outside!
Oh I finally got a new mouse for the computer yesterday.. my right click button has been acting goofy for a couple weeks, and sometimes refuses to work at all, and now the left button is doing the same thing. Of course I couldn't just find a plain mouse with a scroll button, everything was all fancy and wireless. I ended up with a wireless with 5 yes 5 buttons, on sale for $25!!!!! On sale :( Prices are just too high. This one does have rechargable batteries tho, and came with a charger so now I just have to hook it up. I charged it all night last night. Not sure what I'm gonna do with 5 buttons tho LOL The box said 3 of them are programmable?!? What does someone need with programmable buttons on their mouse? I sure don't know.
Talk to ya'll soon!
Hugs!!
Stop and visit, talk all you want. Pt. 2
do we need to start a new thread? this one is getting kinda long, I've got DSL so it doesn't bother me, but.... for the ppl on dial up?
Since there just seems to be the three of us plus KyWoods on it right now, I think we can wait a little longeruntil we get to 200+ What do you think, kwan?
I'm with you Janis. Why would anybody need 5 buttons on their mouse--and programmable ones, to boot? Beats me!
Hi Marsue! And hi to everyone else here as well.
Marsue came to a thread of mine on the ORVG forum, so thought I would return the favor...lol! I have been reading this thread for a while now...well ever since it was the other thread on words. I just don't have much to talk about...so didn't say anything.
Anyway...wanted to say hi, and let you all know I am here!
Marcy
Y'all give Marcy a great big welcome! clap, clap, clap!
We have similar names. She is Marcia Sue and I am Marilyn Sue. :o)
I just ordered my DGD a Guitar Hero III for his PS2. That is what he wanted and his mom said it was okay. Our local Wal-Mart was sold out but I ordered it online to be delivered in-store (no freight charges). One more smaller gift and I am through with Christmas shopping for the grandkids. Hooray!
We are going to a Christmas party on the 15th at my former DIL's mother's house. We will have to take a gift around $10-$20 for a man and a woman and then they play what they call "Dirty Santa". I think it is where the first to play gets to pick the present they think they want and then someone else can take it away from them. Y'all probably have played this game. Anyway, I bought some goat's milk soap from Kathy Ann (a DGer) and I am going to give 3 bars of it for the woman's gift but I still have to think of something for a man. Any ideas anyone? (Under $20.00)
Hey Marsue...sorry..no ideas on the gift for a man, but will think on it.
That is the game we play at our club Christmas party! It is so fun!!
I do have to tell this one woman not to try to get my gift though! She is NOT a gardener..nor does she like anything country. My gift is a hanging plaque that says welcome...and has ferns on it. I know she wouldn't like it...lol!
Well I am off the beauty shop...to get beautified...lol. Heaven knows I need it!!
Bye for now, Marcy. Hope you get real beautiful!
I'm off to my DGS's class room to help out this afternoon.
Talk to everyone later.
Hey there Marcy! Welcome to our little chat room lol I lurk over at OVRG but seldom post!
Marsue, glad you were able to find the GH3. I'll have to think on the manly present too. Mike is impossible to buy for, so I buy him motorcycle themed stuff.... works for him LOL And POW/MIA stuff, I need to find him a new doo-rag, his is getting worn. Mike had an older brother than never came home from Viet Nam :( Listed as MIA/ KIA now I believe. I'm still at a loss as to what to get my brother in law, I guess I'll do what I do every year and go pick him out a new Pittsburgh Steelers shirt or something along those lines (altho it goes against everything I believe in to buy something that says Steelers, as we are Browns fans LOL)
I have to take the kids one day soon to get hair cuts, and mine is getting too long too. So enjoy your time at the beauty shop Marcy, cause when I go, I get to fight with all 3 kids LOL
Janis
I'm back. I decided not to go out for breakfast but cooked a frozen lasagna instead. How's that for the first meal of the day? LOL
Put up a meal in the crockpot for dinner. Swedish meatballs..mmm.
The job is a promotion to a managers position at a differet location than where I am now. Extra driving time, what fun.
We have a gift exchange at work, too, but we only do it amongst the three of us in our "LP" office. This year, we need a new CD palyer so we've pooled our money for gifts and will be buying a new one.
Hi, Marcy!

Hey Kwanjin, I haven't kept up here since everything has happened and haven't read through everything. :( Now I am not feeling so hot and don't feel like reading. :( I take it you got the job then? I sure hope so! :)
Must be lasagna on the brain today Kwan! Since I bought the stuff to make one when I was out :)
Misty, whats wrong? Hope your feeling better!
Janis
OMG this new mouse...... its all over the place, gonna take me a month to get used to it!!
Hey Janis, I think I have a cold and the flu at the same time! YUK :( DH is bringing me some 'all in one' medicine! :)
Do you have a wireless mouse? It took me a bit to get used to this one we have.
Misty, yea its wireless... and quick! Move it a little and I'm clear across the page. I just got this one yesterday and hooked it up a little while ago.. couldn't get it to work so I had to dig out the destructions (what we call instructions here LOL) but now its working... just gonna take some time I guess :)
Feel better.... I have had pharyngitis for 4 weeks now, so I know your miserable Hugs to ya!
Thanks, Janis! What is pharyngitis? Never heard of that one. But 4 weeks, geesh, you poor thing! On the wireless, just make sure nothing gets between the mouse and the little doohicky that allows it to work. DH is gonna go to Lowe's for me to find some spray for my house and green house plants, so maybe he will bring me something to make me feel better! LOL
I had a laser mouse, but "he" died after a couple years, so now I'm back to the old plain and simple one that came with the computer. I like the basics--fewer features to figure out and fewer to break.
Misty, sorry to hear you're sick. Cold and flu together? Never thought of it, but I guess it's possible. I always get decent relief taking AlkaSeltzer Plus nighttime cold medicine when I get sick like that.
Janis, get rid of that pharyngitis, Dear! Four weeks is way too long!
There are some really yummy frozen lasagnas out there, but for some reason, my body wants breakfast foods, no matter how late I get up. LOL
Marsue, I looove Kathy Ann's soaps--they smell wonderful. We use them for scenting the clothes in our dresser drawers, but I want to get some for bathing. My sister loves her peppermint foot cream, since she's on her feet all day.
Hi, Marcy!!!
Thanks, KyWoods! Thank goodness for Puffs Plus! :)
Oh, Misty! Sorry you're sick! I was a couple of weeks ago. Stomach virus. Felt crappy at work and by the time I got home...Ugh! AND I was just starting a 5 day vacation. DH brought me EVERYTHING the pharmacist recommended! He even skipped work for a day to make sure I was okay. LOL
Ky, I eat a lot of "breakfast foods", too. Huh. Cereal at night is a ig one. Last night when I got home, I made a cheese omelet and toast.
Does anyone have any pet peeves besides me? I know you girls must because I see you on some of the other threads. Like the manners one. I ran to the store a fews minutes ago and this fellow in the line started leaning toward me and asking me STUPID questions. AND he smelled of alcohol. If you're gonna drink, STAY HOME!!! Don't go breathing that nasty stuff all over me! Then, he gets mad at ME because I told him what was what. Checker was standing there laughing. I almost turned on her but then I realised it WAS funny. Me, telling off a drunk who had no clue what I was saying or probably even where he was. He won't remember later, I'm sure.
Any who...Misty? Get better! And you too, Janis.
Hey Kwan, sitting here eating my chicken noodle soup DH brought me! :) He is gonna fix steak and taters for supper, darn it! LOL My fault since I took em out to thaw! I would rather have biscuits and gravy for supper than breakfast, MMMMMMMMMM. There is a bag gravy that you can buy at Wal Mart, pepper something or nother, and it is very good! Don't even need milk, just water.
On the other, Kwan, things are better. Family hasn't been around in a couple of days, so guess they are taking a little time before they start on the house. The son did give us his numbers so we can call if anything seems out of place. He lives in Illinois, so too far to take care of much. Still no luck on finding flowers yet, but I will! :)
Back from DGS's school. I go there about once a week just to help out. I really love doing it. Those little kids are so cute. Last year he was in the first grade and I would go and read to the entire class. This year his second grade teacher has me taking about 5 or 6 of the kids who need extra help out to another room that is empty and working with them on various subjects. The way they teach nowadays is a lot different from when I was in school "in the olden days". Sometimes I think we need to get back to the old-fashioned way--we seemed to learn the basics much better than a lot of today's kids do. My DGS is a smart kid so he doesn't have any trouble but some of the kids just don't "get it" with these new math concepts, etc., etc. Oh, look at me--the teaching expert! LOL I'll get off my soapbox now.
Oh, don't even get me started on pet peeves----there are so many! LOL
Sorry you are sick, Misty. Get better soon and you too, Janis.
Okay, 'cuz I was starting to worry about you, kid! LOL Glad things are better now
I love that bag gravy. We have it on biscuits with sausage Sunday mornings sometimes because DH likes it. I dip my sausages in applesauce and he looks at me funny. I say, haven't you ever seen the roast pig with the apple in his mouth? Pork and apples are GOOD! LOL
thanks marsue, told DH good thing I like chicken noodle soup. :)
thanks kwan! But dipping sausage in applesauce???????? LOL I eat mine with bread and people think I am strange! LOL
Hey, Marsue. I thought this was SUPPOSED to be a soapbox? LOL
Yeah, well, Elvis had peanutbutter and banana sandwiches!
a friend just sent this to me and thought I would share:
http://www.northpole.com/Kitchen/Cookbook/
Oh, yeah, I forgot. Pulling it back out from under the desk now. . .
now about that applesauce and sausage--I have a wierder one than that for you but it's not from me--it's my DH's quirky taste. He likes German Chocolate cake with gravy on it! Oh, no!!
I have used that gravy mix too. I like it okay but DH likes my "real" gravy better so I get to make it the "old-fashioned" way. Guess I should be flattered...LOL
Chicken Noodle soup has actually been proven scientifically to make folks feel better whenever they are sick, Misty. Did you know that?
My parents met because of a fried egg and peanutbutter sandwich. Which is very good , BTW.
Marsue I didn't know that! I just know that it has always made me feel better. I was ill just a few weeks ago and lived on it for about 3-4 days!
OMG, tell your DH I said he is ruining his cake! I love both, but SEPARATE! LOL
I make gravy the "old fashioned way" as well, but when you want some quick this stuff is great. I didn't feel like making sausage at the time, so just had that. :)
Well, all I knew about pharyngitis was what the DR told me, that it was an inflammation of the throat. So I Googled it and it said basically, better known as a sore throat LOL But I keep getting it, so the Dr wants me to see the Ear nose throat specialist.
I'm afraid he is gonna want me to have my tonsils out :(( They say that is really hard on an adult. Maybe though I can get my GYN to tie my tubes during the same hospital stay?! LOL 2 birds with 1 stone ya know
I've decided I'm taking the kids to McDonalds for dinner. I just don't wanna cook. I'll bake that ham tomorrow. Hopefully :)
Kwan, I dip my sausages in maple pancake syrup :) Never in applesauce though. Someone, might be Bob Evans makes a maple flavored sausage now. Thats good stuff :)
I make lasagna home made, can't handle the boxed/ frozen stuff. Guess I'm spoiled.
Misty I'm comin to your house for dinner, cause steak and taters sound darn good (drool drool)
I'll be back after McDonalds. The closest one is like 25 minutes away LOL so we'll be gone a bit
Hugs to all
Ok, ya'll posted like 8 posts while I was typing I see :)) I got a gross food combo for you, my XH, the kids dad wouldn't eat meatloaf when I made it. He ate it the next day cold on toast with peanut butter Eugh......
Maple syrup...mmm...
DH just sent me this. Thought I'd share since IT IS winter.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYFekiAwZkg&feature=related
Looks like peanutbutter goes with everything.
Now the sausage and maple syrup I can do! :) I love lasagna, and we have one at the store that is edible if I am too lazy to make it! Think I will take a nap and maybe feel like having steak and taters later, even though I slept til 11! :) DH called and said there were so many plants he would either have to make a special trip or stack em, I said at 50 cents a piece, just stack em up! LOL He went to Lowe's to buy me some spray for house plants and green house plants and found over 40 they were wanting to get rid of, lucky me! :)
We cross posted misty. Cute website. I checked out the pumpkin bread recipe just out of curiosity because I have a great pumpkin bread recipe. Their recipe is almost identical to mine except for the following differences: mine uses 3 1/2 cups flour instead of 3 1/3 c. Also, mine calls for 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg and 1/2 tsp cloves and 1 1/2 tsp. salt. You can also add a cup of chopped pecans and a cup of raisins, if desired. Try it, you'll like it. DH and I have a piece of the pumpkin bread in the morning with our coffee. Yummy! We are on our third loaf since Thanksgiving! Most pumpkin bread recipes are too dry but this one isn't.
Love the video Kwan and thanks for the North Pole link Misty!
Now I got to go, the kids are standin here in their coats and stuff LOL
OOOOOOOOH that sounds yummy! When I feel better I might have to start baking! :)
Do any of you have recipe for pumpkin cookies?
The only ones I can find around here have choco chips in them. Can't have 'em, so I'd like to bake my own.
I haven't looked at it all yet, but thought it was a neat place for recipes! :)
Can I just leave the chips out of the recipe on Misty's site?
