Just popping in again, hope to visit more often. The weather found me behind as usual, but with snowstorm coming and several nights of low 20s' ; Mother Nature caught up for me.
I wanted to share photos-more for the idea of using 2 out of 3 plants for arrangements.
The Red Dragon (will edit with species name) grew about 3 foot tall-heavy, jointed burgunday stems-stayed looking good over a week. I didn't cut the long stems-will next season-should be stunning. It is a fall bloomer, with delicate little white flower clusters. The 2nd plant is the Arum Italicum. I think the leaves that I have in the vase are entering their 4th week of being cut. They are active in early spring and late fall-can handle some heavy frosts.
3rd plant-crested Japanese fern-Not good for arranging.

Persicaria "Red Dragon" I cut one tall stem to dry-it keeps its' color and the "hinging" of the stem sections becomes accentuated. Photo of leaves

Traci, love the asian inspired teacup of flowers. Great set up too. . .very luxurious. Terri, lovely vases with gorgeous roses. Marcia, very nice foliage arrangement. I esp. like the Arum Italicum. . .he is very handsome.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Karma.
Good to see you. I was a bit worried, as I haven't seen you in Midsouth, but I figured you had your hands full.

Marcia, I am thankful for the foliage imput. Being sooo new, I don't know what works and doesn't.

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

You are welcome. I was So happy about the arum, I cut it on a -it may freeze tonight whim. Will be planting more next year (if I can find for trade).
I have curly willow and the odd branch during the warmer season (Bishops weed, thalictrum, astilbe), but had little except the horsetail and a bit of variegated bamboo for later on. ( and I am not sure the bamboo will make it through in its' new place...XXXX-me keeping fingers crossed.

Hi terriculture. The plants are hardy perennials to zone 5 (this is first winter for the Red Dragon-so hope that it holds true. We have 12" of white mulch of which the first 5" is totally easy for my gnome body to walk on. We should have thaw of that by...June?
Currently enjoying a deep pink Thanksgiving/Christmas cactus from my sister and a red/white amaryllis from my neighbor (first time for both). Have bloom stalks on 2 phal orchids-one in bud-should be in full bloom for Valentines day. The other is just peeking through.
It is cold here. Was minus ten night before last. The lake is still open and the swans and geese are still here. So lovely to hear the swans murmur at night.
May get to the swag today and will post photos.
Happy Friday.

Ummmmmmmm, terri, looks good enough to eat. what is th little green thing in the middle?

london England, United Kingdom

Hi Sharran, Thankyou!
Funny you should ask, very observant of you! The thing in the middle is the flower head cut sideways like a cucumber!
I was thinking we should decorate the cafe with our christmas trees and festive arrangements, have you got any decorations you could bring in for us?
Karma, have you got time to bring in your wonderful tree?

A cup of tea for you!

More than ok Shar, that is fabulous! and so tastefully decorated. Thankyou and please, keep bringing things in, it's like opening the advent calendar and seeing something new everyday!!!
I love those arty greens on the top shelf, did you construct that?

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

with all the brick in my house, arches, entrance floor, etc, I have lots of the rosewood color including carpet. finally I found the proper color poinsettias to use on my trees.

yes, whatever is on the shelf that you see I did construct...but it is just old somethings in a cranberry colored glass, and the little painting is also an old something that I painted to fill in a spot on the shelf.

Glad you liked the tree...

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Sharran, your tree is beautiful. I love the red brick it is sitting against.

Terri, I'm going to try to squeeze mine in here as you requested.

Thankyou Karma, yours is so tastefully decorated too! We have loads of room in here, and don't forget we have the gallery to decorate too!
This is our advent calender, it has little pockets to fill.

Ah, Karma......we do think alike. I love your tree.... so similar, though yours is more red than mine.

I have the little berry thingies, you just can't see it very well in the picture, and my garland is kind of a brick colored feathery thing, again it is not very visible in the photo.

Great Christmas photos......love them.

Hi, Traci.......thinking about you, hope you have a great week....

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

My wedding flowers came in today!!! They are absolutely gorgeous. I brought them here, so take a look everyone.
