Oh, I ate too much, but it was soooooo good! How was everyone's Thanksgiving?? I was feeling fuzzy too... must've been the wine.
Harper
It's Harper's B-day #2
Ours was great, Harper. Thanks.
Mine was good. I've been hosting holidays at my house since my parents passed 11 years ago. But last year my aunt asked if she could do Thanksgiving at her house, and this year also. I'll do just about anything not to clean my house!
Smart!
if we don't have people over every so often, we'd NEVER get the house clean...
I'm right on track with everyone else, I guess.
Same here Amy!
Well, I used to go into a cleaning frenzy when people were coming over. And then I realized that a truly thoughtful, caring person would leave the house a mess, so when the guests leave, they can feel smug satisfaction that at least THEIR homes never look that bad! Isn't that nice of me????
Just kidding - DH would have a heart attack if anyone came over and the house was a mess . . . actually, he DID have a heart attack. I wonder who came over???? lol
It's a good theory to live by......Save energy.....only clean when company comes!
Seems Harper is only posting on her B'day thread. Hmmmmmmmm.

I think it was Peg Bracken (author of "I Hate to Housekeep") who said that no one ever liked you BETTER because you were a perfect housekeeper! And I've always wanted to be liked. . .
I have a serious problem with a certain "guest" who actually looks for dust or dog hair. I've let it be known she is not welcome here. What a pain!
Whatever happened to the times you were invited because you were wanted and not some kind of angst test for Miss Clorox?
Remind me to leave my white gloves home when I visit, Pirl!
I'll stick your hands in mud if you try that, young man!
I'm into that.
Victor!
I'm a gardener!!
Somehow I don't think that's what was on your mind.
Hee hee.
Do I have to make you stand in the corner?
(he might be into that too...)
Depends on the company.
Only stick Victor in the corner if it has cobwebs :-)
If Spiderman's girl is there!
kirsten dunst?
Spidergirl?
His girl from the movies. Is that her name? She's cute.
she was born in the 80s!
(jeez i feel old.)
Do I have to keep my white gloves at home? I only wear them to keep globs of hand lotion from getting all over and I promise not to check for dust!! Maybe I should do the white glove test in my own house!! LOL (I actually wouldn't wear them out unless you paid me and then I might consider it) Oh, I forgot, I did wear one white glove 4 different times when I was teaching and I had hand surgery for carpal tunnel and trigger finger. I wore the white cotton gloves with the fingers and thumb cut out to protect my hand cause the steri strips wouldn't stay on - the kids said it looked gross and to keep it covered!! Eleanor
Cleaning after the party makes more sense.
Dave - I agree.
I noticed 3 days ago that my DH's bedside table is dusty. I must have forgotten to clean it when I last dusted in our bedroom. Do you think I could do more than notice that it's dusty? LOL See - that's what I like about retirement. There's just no pressure......I'll get to it....whenevah! I'm busy in the garden! LOL
I do the same when I notice my kids are hungry.
You should see the dust on my kids!
How about the dust on our keyboards? We placed third this week with Mid-South Gardening beating us by more than 400 posts.
yeah but we were busy enjoying our families, dusting them off and feeding them
I am from the school of 'see it and do it'.
I try to have a routine to keep the house picked up and at least looking neat, but with as many people as there are, it's just enough to see something that needs to be done, like the dishes, and just get it done.
I don't clean in a frenzy if people are coming over. I just let things be. Well, I take that back. If the impending guest is tall, I might take a swipe at the top of the refrigerator!!
A very long time ago a guy who worked in the office came over for a drink after work, walked in the kitchen and ran his fingers over the top of the refrigerator - it happened to be spotless. As he looked at his clean fingers he commented that it was the one thing his wife (with four little kids) forgot to clean each day.
My sister's neighbor had six children and her husband came home from work each day and ran his fingers over the trim over the doorways and would ask her what she had been doing all day.
How I wish Lorena Bobbit knew them very well.
Good grief, what jerks.
Victor, I've been so busy I haven't had time to keep up with the entire NE forum, but I'd feel guilty if I went AWOL on my birthday thread! So, ya miss me?
Sure! And you get the blame for the dismal performance last week! Mid-South whipped us.
