Betty,
The snowmen and santa's are darling! You are amazing and obviously loved my many! I love the leaf stepping stones in front of your house (in the multiple santa picture) I bet you made them didn't you? I want to make some, any suggestions or tricks?

Liz,
Your snowman is so dapper, love the hat! I'm going to have to make one, need one for the front porch.

Jeannine,
Good luck keeping the dog clean, when you find out the secret to that one let me know! Fortuntely our 11 year old lab mix decided that she was a full-time house dog last winter, she snoring on her pillow right now. She spent alot of years digging in the dirt though!

Well off to pick up some of my girlfriends and attend a holiday open house at a local nursery. I will be taking pics, hope to get a few good ones to share!

(Zone 1)

Liz ... Your Snowman turned out Great! Really Awesome Job!

I Love it!

I also really love the wooden snowmen shelves with the greenery and candle!

Can ya tell I LOVE Snowmen???

I really, really want to get busy this coming week on my tomato cage Snowman!

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's an early night for me all..so I'm going to sign off till morning...

Best..day went off without a hitch
Worse..just as I saw my girlfriend...love her to death..sign on msn told her my project day was over..so she gabbed for awhile and then said 'well off to go, I'm leaving Jerry' so I said 'leaving him where?' well you all can guess, she was packing her things and leaving the house..they just built what I'd call a mansion on the lake..you should see this place...told her perhaps if she and he had a few days to think about it she could come here...she signed off but said she'd at this time go to her brothers...it is so upsetting..

Yesterday was Darlene finding out about needing to go to Royal Vic. re lumps in breast and tonight Rita...I'm just so very sad...I was just speachless....

What did I learn today...not to invite my DM as 5 minutes into the day she wanted to know when she could go home...so my SIL, DS and I both worked extra quick to get her piece finished so she could go back to cottage..am sure she's off to Rama gambling tonight..lol

So dear friends, it will take me hours tomorrow to read up on all of your activities..

Do have a nice evening..

Glenview, IL

Evening!

well now I see everyone has been Busy creating...Betty - Looks like you all a fun filled workshop! Everyone did a great job.

going to some friends for a visit so You all have a good evening and I'll see you tomorrow.

Best: creating snowman
Worst: had to do it twice
Learned; just can't rush little sewing.

Best- Spending the evening with great friends at a wonderful event
Worst- Thinking about our dear friend who is fighting stage 4 throat cancer
What I learned- How to make a bog garden!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Great photos, RR....I wish we could all have been there to see. Great ornaments.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rachel..love the fairy..you should have treated yourself..the tree, although I can't get it to show up enough is very similar to mind..in the photo the beautiful angels look like rags, but I'll post anyway...

Judy you are so creative..I should get making some of those xmas stockings...too cute..

Shar, what will you get up to this morning..frost is on the pumpkins..of course everyone loved the music and light flickering yesterday..not so sure of the neighbors listening to it lol but anyway it had a purpose to make everyone feel 'joyfull' which they did..

I know what my best will be already and it's only 8:00 pm..saw Rita sign on msn this morning ... thank God she was still at home...so we talked a bit and told her as my back door is always unlocked know that she never needed to call, just arrive, pick a bedroom and get on with life....so surely her being home with Jerry is the BEST...

Gillian, with workshop and working almost day and night past week..so sorry I missed your birthday..do hope that family spoilt you..my apologies...

Liz, so glad you boss enjoyed the party..you did think she'd give you trouble over it..lol..

Laura, absolutely not and I'm sure Gita didn't take it that way...words are funny when put into print..know you all have my best interest at heart and a lot of time I NEED to take advice from you all..but after all is said and done, and everyone went home with treasures it gives me such a sense of 'wellness'...

Betty go have my coffee, get dressed, go into town and get a perm...make myself lovely..should take photo of these hands..paint..sparkles etc. - a good scrubbings a must..bath didn't take it off..maybe I can start a new trend..

Be back later...

Good Morning all,
Welcome to our new gals. I've been catching up reading all the posts and admiring all your crafts. Betty your neices look so pleased..great job by all your pals.
The last few days has been all about my car..first had to have the gas filler pipe replaced..same day a few hours later..brake line broke..back to the garage..said they couldn't do it that day..next day brake line fixed..and yesterday my son came and put my snow tires on. We checked all the levels of various fluids and I need to get some power steering fluid today. Then hopefully the car will be ready for the winter.
Started a bit of Christmas gift buying. Got an idea for a gift for my teenage grandkids. A clock that shines the time on the ceiling also has a backlight and shows the inside temp. It sets the time automatically to the U.S. atomic clock too.
Called Oregon Scientific clock.

I did a table decoration on my dining room table with a piece of sequined cloth I picked up at Fabricland for only $3.00.
Then stores are filled with Christmas stuff now..puts one in the mood. My daughter brought over some gifts to hide for her daughters...seems everyone is thinking Christmas now.

Have a good day all.
Cheers,
Carol

Best- My son came to visit.

Worst- had to go to work

What did I learn- Mine are repeats. Do do what I can in the time I have and not feel guilty. I don't know how some of you get so much done. Oh yeah you don't sit on your butts. I can sit on my butt and look at stuff. Then I feel guilty. Twisted huh?

Liz Love your snowman! What is his nose made of? That's the one thing I haven't figured out yet. What a fun surprise for your friend. The conchos were also a great idea. Now the mind is really working on ideas. Just can't figure out the nose.

Yes Betty I hope you get help with the cleanup. Even though that is the easy part of it.

Rachel what a fun day. Great pictures! I love pictures.

Have to go and cook bacon pretty soon. Have other threads to check and finish my cup of coffee. My plans today. Clean the freezer. visit and who knows. Maybe it will be one of my busy days! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Forgot to mention in my last post...it's a time of reflection today as well for those who lost their lives and those who are now fighting for our 'freedom' prayers for them as well as their families...for today is 'REMEMBRANCE DAY'!!!

Carol, what a novel idea..love the look...let's hope you've spent all the money you have to spend on your car..need some for Christmas right? you just gave me an idea for my boys..where will you purchase such a find...

Vicki..nose is just thin wood, plywood could so..sounds as though you have a pretty busy schedule to keep..

Thanks for prayers for Darlene and Rita..a while back at thanksgiving friends from Florida were over..remember he had just finished chemo..well she called me yesterday, was in class and had to tell her I'd call her back, well by 8 when I hadn't (I completely forgot) Geraldine called me back to say DH had massive heartattack..was now back home but not doing well..said the chemo meds had a lot to do with the attach...so many ups/downs aren't their..think why we motivate ourselves so much..try to erase the bad things in life..do you agree with that thought???

I really must go..should move computer in different location..lol..come down for laundry and must pass it, come down to den, next to it...come down to craft room and must brush along the computer..so, why not sit down I ask???? is that what all of you do????

So many questions this cold/bright Sunday morning...

Pacifica, CA

vicki, lol after all the profanitys i was stuck on the nose so i went into the garage and found a wood shim broke it off at the tip and started cutting off peices to get that shape then used various metal files to smooth it then painted it and laqured it then sprayed some spray glitter on it.

carol what a lovely table displat i love how you can see the reflection in the mirror glad the car will be ready soon if its not one thing its another.

dh said were going to walmart whoo hoo lets see how much damage i can do today lol

Good Morning!
...wow so much going on this weekend. Was skimming over yesterdays events and discovered in all my rushing missed some posts, so here I sit with morning cup of joe, looking at the pics again and marveling at all the fun.

Lin, I so love the little car picture and you are right definatley belongs on this thread too, thanks for sharing and so very glad you joined in.

gollly, so much to say...I am a bit overwhelemd so will try and make one big post and hope that I've caught all.

First things, Happy B-lated birthday Gilli !! I hope that your day was filled with lots of fun, maybe you got to realax a little and just enjoy yourself.

Reflecting on all the events of these past days, I am offering prayers for some of the sadness, of friends or family being ill of body or mind. With all of the love that flows through each of you may the healing go so much faster.

I v'e enjoyed getting to know our new friends and am glad you feel comfortable good to jump right in. We are in excitement mode here more than usual, So forgive me if i've messed up your names, I am kind a bad in that catagory but promise you I will get it right...eventually,lol-problem is got to slow down.

Weve have had some travellers, and issues with vehicles. So wish all turns out for the best and roads are travelled with safety and enjoyment of our beautiful scenery. Weather it is the smile sun's furst burst of light to glorious colors we are offered to see, or the the canvas of earth blanketed in a splender of white. Wile on the other side of the world, breathtaking views of of the country side enjoying longs talks and rides to see New life of nature in the warmth of the days to come and makes me smile to know gardens will still be bursting with love.

How exciting it is, even with all the hardest of work, moving, which brings cleaning, and placement in such loving manners of make a new home your palace no matter how old, beat up or even just because. So have fun, learn lots. Be careful with the heavy stuff, playing on ladders and at the end of day..kick back and smile in anticipation all you have done. Most of all sleep well and dream of the all that will flow through the place that you so lovingly made...home.

How very fun to go shop and look at all the exciting possibilities, wheather it HD, Walmart, and even the Nurseries, brings out our best in all creativity...or choosing of wonderful gifts to our loved ones.

Of course we can't forget, our family of pets! They do bring us smiles even if they have been naughty, just got to forgive them and love them all the more. The stories told are just too much fun not to share but got to say...although you may not think so a birdie is the way to go!

And lets see with all the crafting has made me smile. How fun for workshops and suprise parties-lovely decorated tables now the clean up ladies...and then oh just can't wait to see all the new!

So for today I am off to Home Depot to purchase my wood...For it Santa's sleigh waiting to be made.

And got to giggle...cause there are probably more posts as it's taken me a while to write. You all make my day bright so I'll see you soon..
have a wonderful Sunnday/Monday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm still ugly..got to the hairdressers, it's first come, first serve, got there and only 2 people waiting at the door to get in so that excited me except the hairdresser (male) said omg when he heard I wanted a perm, said they were short staff, only himself and another girl, who hadn't arrived as yet so told me it was a 'no' so went to Walmart and purchased 2 dvd movie players for the Kyle and Noah for Christmas, called into Sears and ordered guitar case and pogo stick so they are partly done, so that was good news...went to $$$ store to purchase 8 table cloths for my craft room tables, yesterday did the others in..should have been $8.00 worth of purchases so don't know why my bill was $48.00 but that's another story..lol..then went to Canadian Tire..lots to buy but really none that I needed RIGHT today, then did banking and finished off with groceries...thought I'd treat myself to a home cooked meal, roast beef and lemon merangue pie..

Message from Darlene and Mike when I got home saying they'd drop in this afternoon..I purchased that fireplace insert for basement fireplace and it wall needs to be cut out to accomodate, Mike said he'd bring back my lawnmower that he's serviced and look at what tools/wood he'll need to do the job..they are such nice people..look after me as though I was their own..

Shortly after their message, Diane, my girlfriend I paint in Barrie with called to say that she booked the hall for my next workshop on Dec.7th and also the restaurant down the block as they'll cater the lunch..so far about 20 in attendance, so Sat. it will be back to Midland to have them playne the wood I need and here and there until the 7th I know what materials I'll need and can get them ready without the push I had this week...glutton for punishment aren't I...but I love it!!!

It was so funny, paid for the DVD players, gave the salesclerk a bunch of $20.00's and she said 'oh my, this money sparkles'...lol...I told her my entire house did as well..

Judy, You'll have to show me your sleigh efforts...

So sitting here with Tim Horton's coffee, a donut and will continue my trek to clean the house of sparkles and wood dust...

Glenview, IL

HUH??? head shake here...Did I miss the workshop? Was I suppose to make the sleigh already?
Thought we were doing that together...ahhhh, just now going for the wood! Ok let me catch up then, am i suppose to trim the santa close?, Cut the wood according to pattern...OMG!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, Judy, nope..you didn't miss a thing..and yes you must trim all away the excess material..will look for some I've already done just to show you...no workshop yet..wanted to see you make the sleigh part, not the finishing part..lol...don't panicking..lol

Glenview, IL

Oh whew, Ok so I now have the MDF...had to get advise from a very nice orange aprond guy...however he didn't know what stapping was so I am still without that. Trying to figure it out and thought about Li'z pine and the price you wrote Is that 1X2 long wood strips?
I only had enough cash to get 2 1/2" 2x4's if I figured it out right then I have enough for 6 sleighs! Will trace the sleighs tonight and possibly cut them out...
hahah, I think I should just come to your house where everything is already and waiting/LOL
Are you rested now Betty after your worksop, sure did look very fun and you looked satisfyingly tuckered...
If I am successfull will post a picture!

Victoria Harbour, ON

ok..just rambling around the house..my DIL and a couple friends want to come one night this week to do the Victorian Santa as I had a few left over..too much for an evening so I basecoated them..no talent needed for that but can tell you craft room in shambles again..

Worse...had so planned on getting a hair perm this morning!

What did I learn today...bartering with friends is wonderful..girlfriend Ann dropped in..she was to have had a table at a Christmas Craft sale in the city..at the last minute the girl she planned the table with cancelled out..so all the things she made she now has to sell..she saw the victorian santa and thought he'd look nice outside her wallkway in the city..she painted a large planter and filled it with gardening items sooo she will come over on Saturday and do one and in exchange, I'll get the planter and it will be girlfriend Dianne's christmas gift...

Look forward to gabbing tomorrow and seeing what brought you joy/excitement perhaps even some sadness today...sleep well my friends!

Cardiff, ON(Zone 4a)

I finally made it throught the thread. Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. Ella turned one on the 8th so we have birthdays back-to-back. It's so hard to believe that a year has passed already. My baby's growing up. On Friday I went to the Remembrance Day assembly at the school. It was so good this year, I was really impressed.

My birthday turned out sort of funny. I had mentionned to DH a few crafting things that I would like. I'd like to do some wool felting and also some leather work so it was mostly stuff for that. Later he said that he really had no clue about any of that and didn't want to get the wrong thing. I told him that I would also be happy with a surprise. Well, somehow messages got mixed and he didn't get me anything because he thought that I was just going to pick something and get it for myself. Now for the cake. Usually I just end up making my own cake (and dinner too) - it's usually better that way. Well, this year I decided I'd let him make the cake. That message got a little mixed up too though. So finally, once we got it straightened out he went to make the cake, only to find that we didn't have a cake mix of the right kind. So he goes out to buy a cake mix (and pick up supper). Well, there wasn't time for him to make the cake since I was going over to a friend's house for a games night that evening. It was so nice to get out of the house for a while without the kids. One of my friend's made a birthday cake for our little party though (two of us have birthdays within a few days of each other). Well, at the end of the night, I took home the cake that wasn't eaten. When I got home I jokingly said to DH, "Well it looks like you're off the hook." Needless to say that when Saturday evening rolls around I'm a little irritated that he still hasn't bothered to make my cake. Finally I told him that the reason I always make my own cake is because I don't want to wait for him to do it. He then asked if I had been joking when I told him that he was off the hook for making the cake. We both had a big laugh and I finally got my butter pecan cake with brown sugar frosting (very yummy). Now I'm just waiting for my present. At least he told me what it is - a new bath robe. I'm so excited. My old one is almost 20 years old and looks terrible. All's well that ends well I guess.

Welcome to our newcomers. It's so nice to have some more friends join our little group here. It's been neat to see what everyone's been up to. I wish that I could get online more often. This week will be crazy. It seems like I have appointments and meetings all week. Plus, the bus isn't running this week so I have to take DS to school and pick him up. It's not far but it means that I have to bundle Ella up too and I like to look somewhat presentable if I'm leaving the house. At least it's cold enough I have a good excuse to wear a hat and coats are good too. Hope everyone's week goes well. Betty, I hope you can relax for a bit after all the hustle and bustle of the craft day.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Best- Found 25 feet of lawn edging laying on the side of the road just down the road from our house. We drove past it this morning when we where heading out to do errands when we came back later it was still sitting there. So hubby pulled over, I jumped out, ran across the street and confirmed that it was in fact "lawn edging" and the heavy duty stuff at that! We were driving the car and it was already full so I yelled to Carl to drive home and that I would walk. It was only a few blocks to the house and there is a nice sidewalk to walk on. I can only imagine what all the passerbys were thinking as a 5'2" woman was lugging a role of edging the size of her down the road!

Worst- Had to stand in line at Wal-Mart to buy our nephew a b-day gift.

What I learned-That the edging is the perfect length for the new flowerbed I am working on! You should have seen me doing my victory dance once I made it to the house!

Morning all, see from the above post that I'm not the only one who can't sleep...craft room almost tidy!! Doing ironing, then to watch Joyce Meyer and Creflo Dollar ministry shows and off to work...almost a day in before most start theirs...

Gilly....shaking my head here, think you'd better give up on DH planning your birthday..lol..off you go next year and purchase exactly what you want and on return trip home pick up supper and cake...too funny...

Rachel..that must have been a scene..oh well, look what your new garden has..edging..wasn't it worth the neighbors shaking their heads in laughter...

Judy, you and Liz are probably in still in the workshop cutting out sleighs...

Jeannine, whatcha been up to?? How's that Murphy...

Sharran..looking forward to your posts..hope you are eating and gaining strength...any results back from all those tests???

Sounds like everyone had a marvellous time this weekend..all were busy/busy...let's hope this week brings joy into our lives...

Good Morning!
Already at work...Days looks to be productive! and long last caught up by end of day.

Great fun talking to you to LIz...as you know i can spend hours blabbing!! Got the boot from computer sooo...next best thing phone!! Anyway I can't wait to get home and scan my daughters art work to show you all...and reason everyone was searching for me.

Ok so had to stop my workshop to pack DH sending him off to do some final work at the cottage and winterise the place. He ended up getting a new vehicle too, so now I'll not worry about his travel...After dinner started up again, finished tracing the pattern and cut out my Fave Santa...some serious trimming! But i think I did a great job, and really glad I found my craft scissors. So lunch time will trim out DS's as I know he won't be patient with such intriquet triimming. By the time 9:30 rolled around...discovered how tired I was! Went to bed and was dreaming by the time you Posted Betty...Golly,just don't know how you could stay up that late...lol we'll be calling you the energizer bunny...so will cut out my sleighs tonight.

Gilli, So glad you had a nice birthday eve with your friends! Glad you got your cake and oh how nice a snuggly warm bathrobe. Enjoy.

Well I better get to the productivity here!
See you in a bit, meanwhile have a god day.
