Today's Weather in Your Garden 5

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Sometimes I wish I still had little kids! Bet they were cuties.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My five year old was Curious George and the eight year old was Mr. Met!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Mr Met as in the Mets? I got an email of babies dressed as different animals - they were all so adorable. I bet Curious George was too, even though lots bigger than a baby.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, as in the Mets. This is a Mets household.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

What a wonderful evening, made a fire outdoors, had a couple beers waiting for the kids to come knocking, had some beef barley soup while sitting in front of the fire, very mild weather, cute kids, peeked at DG a couple times on my trips indoors. And it's almost November.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Deb, in NJ we give them candy. In NY you give them beer?? :~)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You beat me to that one Weeze!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Just the adults!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Brew for boo!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

lol, couldn't pass that one up, but beating you is a coup!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

A coup with the brew for a boo.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm type-less!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

47, a little rain right now, maybe clearing enough later to do some garden work.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Rabbit! Rabbit!
(It IS the first day of the month)

51* here this morning, and that's the OUTSIDE tempertaure (LOL!)
Light breeze coming from the SSE. Pink touches to the clouds, so rain this afternoon.
The high won't reach 60*, but it will try its best to do so.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I agree with you, Anita. Our temps, even here, are almost unheard of for this time of year. But I'll take them, and try to remember them in February!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Happy November! 51 and overcast here. Should be cooler over the next few days.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

DH's new shift got announced, and it's what he feared. wed - thur - fri - sat 23:30 til 0430 the next morning! Still only 20 hours (so he can be a full time student) but yuck!!!!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Overcast and 52 degrees,light wind.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nasty day. Overcast and raw - temp barely budged all day. 52 now. Supposed to be sunny and chilly the next few days.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

It only got up to 51, but the sun was out for quite awhile, and I got a lot of clean up in. Now only if I had leaves to rake to add to the garden. Maybe next week.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

85 and humid here today.....very warm on our morning walk. But tonight the humidity has broken and it should be cooling off in the next couple of days.

Halloween was so much fun here last night.........tons of adorable kids - very polite and dressed up so cute. Victor - I'll bet your boys looked really cute too! How did you get finished with the trick or treating by 5:30? Did I read that right? We had kids coming to the door until we turned off the light (out of candy) at 8:30. I had forgotten how this neighborhood gets into Halloween. When I was a little hula girl trick or treating in this neighborhood, I had a ball!! Funny to be on the other end of it all. My DH and I dressed up as retirees and trimmed the hedge in front of our porch between waves of kids. Our disguise was quite believable!! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes we go early and finish early. Then we're home to give out the candy. The kids enjoy that too.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Made it up to 70 today. Started out rainy, then the sun came out but by 6pm it was cloudy and getting chilly.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Good costume, Louise!

I fear that a lot of our NH and ME gardeners will be battling the breezes and the raindrops brought on by NOEL tomorrow. We'd all better check our drainage ... and our rain gutters.

But for today, it's the calm before the storm, albeit a tad cold.
28* at 7 AM, on it's way to a high of 55* (it'll never get there!)
Slight breezes are puffing in from the SSE with a realtive humidity of about 87%.
The sun is straining to get out of bed and rise up over the neighboring hills. She has her alarm set for right now.
And, the sun will go to bed early once again, at about 5:40 this evening.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

39 and clear and chilly. NYC and LI will be getting what's left of Noel. We have a party for my parents in Queens in the evening so I hope it's gone from there.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

35, cloudy presently, but supposed to be sunny and 55 later. Told my DH this morning we need to think about turning the heat on soon.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh, Victor!
Not an OUTDOOR party, I hope!!

Debilu:
We've had the heat on (well, we keep filling up the wood furnace!) for about a month now!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The wind warnings go through to Sunday morning for our area, Victor, so good luck with your get together. I don't know if it extends to Queens or not. You might want to check NOAA and Weatherbug.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - luckily it;s in a restaurant but I was just thinking about guests - a few are coming from LI. Gorgeous day here today! 50 and brilliant sun right now.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

We had our 2nd frost last night...not a light one either. But it's been sunny and nice all afternoon. 53 right now. I haven't been in the garden in 2 days. Been cleaning up the patio and putting everything away. We got one of those tent-like garden houses to store things in for the winter. It's 5'x5' and I got quite a bit of 'stuff' in it. So no energy left for actual gardening. Gotta get out there today before the sun gets any lower :)

West Norriton, PA(Zone 6b)

No frost today (in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday). Started the day in the 40s and reach a high of 57. Forecast for Saturday 55 and Sunday 58, plan to play in my garden all weekend -- I'm even going to build my first compost bin. Can you guess that I'm new to gardening -- needed some kinda hobby and new gardening would be the most rewarding. Hopefully I'll be really good at when I retire in about 20 years.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Today's forecast was perfect: great cheeses from a local shop, chicken on the grill with a huge salad, crispy potatoes, two pints of Haagen Daaz with my own home made (Baker's recipe) hot fudge sauce for my son, his girlfriend and us. Heavenly. The weather was a bit chilly so we ate inside.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

it's cold.
brr.
1st kitty (trapped last night) went to vet and is back - vaccinated, neutered, and with meds for an upper repiratory infection.
2nd kitty, trapped an hour ago, is absolutely crazed. Her, we cant take to the vet til monday. But at least she isn't freezing her tail off outside.

pirl, you're making me hungry, even though I just ate. We loved Haagen dazs ice cream so much that was our doggie's name.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

How cute! What was the nickname, if any.

I can just visualize the dog getting lost and you asking people if they've seen your missing Haagen Daz!

West Norriton, PA(Zone 6b)

Now I'm famished, waiting for dinner to come out of the oven. Baked tailpia with a side of pasta and veggies. Might have to run to the super market to get some Haagen dazs. Although, I'm a plain vanilla (with butterscotch of course) kinda guy.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

We usually called her Haagey, she looked like coffee ice cream with chocolate syrup(she was a keeshond). When she was 4 months old she actually jumped out our 2nd floor window while I was getting ready for work one morning. I grabbed the leash and ran out, of course, first thinking I'd find her dead under the window, but nowhere to be seen, so here I am running down our street screaming "HAAGEN-DAZS, HAAGEN-DAZS!!" Not thinking about it till later that everyone was probably like"who is this crazy woman selling ice cream at 7 in the morning"
I found her(not a scratch on her) at the end of our block hanging out with a doberman, good thing she was fixed.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Fixed?! Good thing she wasn't broke!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Tell me about it.
