I really thought the Pixie outfit turned out the best, DD said she want's me to design her clothes. After this, I think I'll stick to small crafts LOL...This is DD and BF...Sorry no picture of PeterPan..she and her friend disappeared before I could take a pic! All the teens ran off to hang outside, so maybe I'll take a pic of just the outfit, but it looks like PJ and she said she would use them as that, nver would have thougfh of it, so it's all cool.
Best/Worst time to move again girls and boys part?19?I think
Then I was a pumkin...It was just hysterical with my missing teeth....There was another pumpkin --so cute, this little lady said Judy hit me, I was aw come on this a fun party, she bust out laughing and said no really Hit me, so...I tapped her in the shoulder...and immediately she tossed candy at me. hahaha, she was a piniata! to funny. We had all kinds of great costumes. There was a a Pharoh, Punk rockers, Partly cloudy, Polish pimp(DH), to name a few.
This was hanging from the ceiling thought it was pretty neat...lets see they also had a Patient, and a pants wetter!! That one happen by pure accident, I guess the guys prop (a bag of water) burst just as he was showing it and well, he looked exatly as though he wet himself. Lots of laughter from that story.
afternoon all,
laura, glad to hear from you go have a wonderful drive and a good day i think a little wind in the hair just might do you good nice to get out and enjoy.
judy, wow those costumes are great no wonder it took you so long now did you follow a pattern or free hand? fil omg he is certainly toooo much the two men from italy left and one man flew in for a month well needless to say guess who was at the casino then when they got back to the house started drinking wine and smoking cigars yep lost his balance once again and fell and hit his head i knew when i saw it this morning i said you were drinking and got mad about using a walker again huh just admit it he did they took him to emergency and all checked out.
those toperary's were on a lowe's how to page a while ago i just finally decided to do one and with michaels having the pumpkins at 90% off well i got busy on it dh wants me to ad some more color to them so thats what im going to do.
betty, im sooo sorry you had to hear that, but you did right and so did jeff, at least you showed you care to check in on them dont let it get you down well you have been busy today found some thin peices of plywood in fil workshop told me to take it dont know what im going to do with it yet but cant have enough wood on hand lol this is what we saw from the driveway when we arrived they were so close we waved to them.
have a great rest of the day liz
judy we crossed posts great costume how fun was that party !
I have made it back to civilization!! LOL Actually, it wasn't too bad at all. The temperature didn't go below like 45 so we were comfy! I was chilly the first night until I got IN the sleeping bag vs. it laying on me like a blanket. ;-) We didn't wake up Sat morning until 10. That was nice!!! I made breakfast of eggs, bacon and sausages. Yummy!! Our plan was to take the boat out but my DH came up with the idea of just taking the boat up to the guy to winterize it early and then we just hang out at the camp. It was unanimous! We hung around camp. Played SORRY, took naps, read. I loved it!!! Ate dinner early and set up the fire-pit when the sun went down. Loved just sitting around. Had some serious parent to kids talks. DS wanted to talk about the birds and the bees again and DD just covered her fae and giggled the whole time!!! Talked about peer pressure and all that good stuff. Got up early this morning (8m old time - 7am new time). Packed up camp and headed to Cracker Barrel where we stuffed our faces with their awesome biscuits and I got my bowl of grits!!!
Heading to the mall tonight as they are having a pre-holiday shebang. Lots of discounts and food samples. I've been trying to study for my first quiz tomorrow night. It won't be easy as it is on pines, spruces, & firs. They all look the same to me!!!
Anyway, here are a few pics from this weekend.
And finally, 2 stray kitties that adopted our camp site. They feasted on stir-fry meat and cheetos. The wife of the guy who winterized out boat is going to go up to the site and see if she can catch them. She's caught over 30 kitties around her shop and had them all spayed or nuetered and had them adopted.
Just came down to close the lights and call it a night..had enough of this weekend..tired/tired...
Judy, looks like fun was had by all..you worked hard on those costumes..what a lovely looking daughter..you must be hiding that DH of yours..looked for him in photo's but couldn't find him lol...
Liz..when will FIL learn that he can't drink anymore..going to break something one of these days...but, guess he wanted to keep up with the friends...look at that baloon...so colorful..I'm terrified of heights so when they offer rides in Barrie I'd love to go but know they'd have to throw me off after they'd be 3 ft. off the ground...
Jeannine..lol..well glad to hear this years' camping trip went well..lovely photo's..sad time of year putting the boat away..I keep waiting for Greg to arrive..he's wintering the Foxy Lady so guess he'll park her in the yard tonight...
I'm debating wether or not to even have my nightly bath tonight..I'm exhausted....had one this morning so it won't kill me to jump right into the sack..I'm not too smelly..lol
Best of the day...completing everything on my 'to do' list
Worse of the day..getting Sharon's MSN message...
What did I learn...NOT to get involved ... stay as quiet as a church mouse..(which I usually do)...people call to tell their woo's but don't want you to get involved..so I'll make sure I now ask..."are you venting or do you want a response?"
Night everyone...
jeannine what a great place love the lake view , wow it is down quite a bit, great campsite now how far is it to your home?
betty your so funny not me i'll get up in one of those one day dh wont go he says he is going to kep his feet firmly planted in the ground.. party pooper lol
Betty, so sorry to hear about what happened...It is so hard to know what the right thing to do and say is in some situations. One day, they will see that you and Jeff acted with your heart. All one can do is try to be there even if it isn't appreciated at the moment.
You did alot today and all weekend! No wonder you are tired...You have a good night.
Liz, I make my own patterns for costumes. We sketch on paper whatever idea comes about Then usually I will pace the floors contemplating how things will be and with what. For the pixie outfit, I used a jean skirt, the rest I free handed. The wings, were shaped as we went along...All the material is measured and cut to fit...the kids make great manaquins! I have a giant roll of paper that I use for patterns. LOL the lady at JoAnn's probably hates me, When she asked for the measurments, I unrolled the bolt againt the kids and marked how much I needed and whatever size this is. Usually I'll conjure in my mind and round off what I need....always ask for more just in case...And the best part was all the material only cost $40 so that was 10 a piece! 70% off, cant beat that..
The next big sewing project will be Julia Sr. Prom Dress, I am really excited to be doing that..will Start contemplating and plannin that one in early spring, I can't wait!..Great Balloon picture, so cool you got to wave at the people. You should think about blowing that up and framing it...Wonderful shot, very vivd against the deep blue sky!...made me smile big.
Jeannine, great weekend of camping! You make me miss the whole camping experience. So happy to hear you didn't freeze. Ahhh...the great outdoors to bring on some great conversation and good old fashioned family time, sounds like wonderful memory has been born.
Beautiful area too.
Thinking about all...now that I have some quiet moments! Sure hope you are all well.
Today, I put everything in the gardens to rest. Beautiful day for it. We didn't get to Christmas lights...another day. I am pretty tired myself, trying to decide if I should go Keep DH company or not...he'll put me to work in the kitchen! or if I should just do some writing for a little bit.
I am sitting in the sun porch...well mind just got made up, got to help with some homework creating old paper...hmm right up my alley!
See you later.
I have been enjoying all your posts and photos, but I have been too busy to pop in and write...
Laura...sorry about Friday. Just remember the sunshine that follows every storm.
Betty, you did the best you could do concerning your sister and her son. No one can ask for more. Push this day aside, you cannot change yesterday, nor can you change people. Be yourself, and always remember all the lives you touch with all your love and compassion.
Now, my friends, the race is on. I don't do Halloween, but take a peek at the 10 foot tree that made its way into and UP in my house today!!!! Took me all day just to get the thing set up. I know it's early, but.......you put me in the mood. So.....your turn now, you will probably be finished before I get the blasted lights on it. And believe it or not, Daisy and Jazz are ignoring it.
I have another photo for you after this one......
OK, house plants inside, finally.....light frost these past few nights, so I had to get them in.
Daisy is thinking......hummmmmmm,
And Jazz is on the back side, also thinking. However, this is just one of the four gatherings of house plants scattered throughout the house, so......Jazz chose another one to experiment with, ended up getting his first serious lecture from his mom. I was so angry with him, i forgot to grab the camera.....If you remember he was a 1 pound stray when I got him in June.....he now is much bigger than Daisy who is 3 years old.....and Jazz is still growing.
I will try to find a recent picture of him, but he doesn't slow down very often, THE most active cat i have ever seen. Also the most loving. But here's Daisy.....
Enjoyed all the photos of costumes and camping.
Betty..hopefully your nephew is doing better..and is probably embarassed. BUT it could have turned out much worse.
I played with leaves for a good part of yesterday..mulching them with the lawn tractor and dumping some of them on the garden beds. There are still a couple of trees that haven't dropped their leaves completely yet but yesterday was a nice sunny day to be outside. I was invited to dinner at my neighbour's last evening. Caesar Salad, lasagna..and crusty bread. Homemade cookies for dessert..very good.
Liz..I have been on a hot air balloon ride..it was so peaceful and quiet up there only noise was from the whoosh of the hot air when needed. When we came down we had champagne..sitting on the grass as the sun set. That was about 12 years ago.
Have a good day all
Cheers,
Carol
morning all,
yuck party over back to work today:(
betty, you would think he would of learned his lesson stubborn man lol found out there leaving for arizona today to go touring, i cant believe him in his condition not being stable on his feet well what can you do i hope they enjoy themselfs. before i forget super walmart had 1/2 gallons of fog juice for 2.19 got three if they still have it next sat i'll get three more
judy, that was a bargain great job i didntget to the house lights either to busy looking for halloween 50% sales
shar, glad to hear from you, lol i bet that little rascal got into alot of trouble just looking at that beautiful fern i wonder how long its going to take them to find it lol
ok thats a tall tree now not that im giving the cats any ideas but have they climbed up the tree yet . i think all the decorating is truly giving all of us inspiration to decorate.
carol, cool im going to do it one day it looks like fun
Morning,yuk..can't read a thing with these glasses..something must be wrong..paid almost $500.00 to have to put on $ store glasses to read...not sure why..must get it checked out...
Everyone busy here at work, just me, playing around..think there are meetings out off office this aft. so perhaps I'll paint..can't stay still...
Carol, you and Liz are brave souls..3 steps on a ladder and I'm sweating bullets..but can imagine the sense of serenity up there...
Shar, look at that tree..do you pick a theme...I do mine in anything 'silver'..looks pretty...my 2nd tree, is all my childhood ornaments and those the children/grandchildren have made..
Wow, look at your fern..did I tell you that all my plants, no matter how healthy they were, all died within short period of time..I say there is a bad spirit in the house..anyway, I did throw them out over the weekend...
Am lucky, got all the 'chunking' done on the wood pieces and I still have my fingers..lucky me...lol...
Judy - Those costumes look awesome. Your style of sewing seems to match mine really well. I can never seem to find the perfect pattern so I end up experimenting.
Jeannine - I can't believe how much the water has dropped. I'm glad you had fun camping though.
Betty - I had to laugh when you mentionned DH making the sleighs. The tools in our home technically belong to me. Keith is allowed to use them but he rarely does. He knows that I enjoy it. He was quite surprised this past spring when I told him that he could replace the battery in our car because I didn't feel like doing it myself - lol.
It's quiet here this morning. It's nice to be able to relax after the busy weekend. We spent a lot of time outside on Saturday doing yardwork. It was one of the few Saturdays we've had where it hasn't rained most of the day. We've had a few snows so the crunch is on to get everything prepared. I want to move where I had my tomatoes and I'd like to get that done so it's all ready to go in the spring. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do that this week.
Well, I'm off to get some things done around the house. Hopefully Ella will cooperate. She has recently discovered that she can reach some of my plants when she climbs up on the windowsill so I need to do some reorganizing. She just loves dirt.
Gillian , a few snows?? not good, that means it's heading this way..this morning I started the car and let it run for about 10 minutes just to get the 1/2" of frost off the windows..we've been lucky these past 2 years..I was hoping to escape at Christmas without worrying about blizzards on my way south..lol
Bet Ella is walking (or running) around like crazy..yep..sure do have to watch them during this period of time..
Not raining, overcast here but winds are up..trees are just a bending...
Good Morning all! Guess who is playing hooky...I mean caugh, cough is sick today? LOL
Yep, decided I need a day to re-energize...So to start, made a couple of egg salad sandwiches...been chatting around on DG.
going to grab another cup of coffee and maybe take a brisk walk.
Wow, Shar a beautiful tree you have...Happy decorating! Oh,oh poor litlle Jazz. Is she sulking or getting into other mischiff? Remembering when I scolded birdie for landing on one of my eagle and broke it...lol was just that angry too, She got caged for a week, pouted the whole time. But she stays clear of the eagle to this day. Will look forward to seeing photos all decorated beautiful.
Gilli-I hate following store bought patterns, they are so confusing. I bet Ella moves lightening quick too, LOL I love dirt too...hehehe.
Betty, I was trying to be an I know what that is...but Huh...what the heck is chunking? LOL...Ok so we are all excited about the workshop...everyone here is going to particpate...DD even suggested hooking up the web-cam! Workshop was the talk of the dinner table. They just love the concept of all of gathering for a day of fun!
Coffee's ready...want a cup?
Seed, Illinois is just up the road a bit from me....maybe you could take a drive south and stop by to help with the tree....sounds like something to do on your DAY OFF!!!! Just how tall are you, and are you afraid of heights????
What is 'chunking' it's a way to possibly cut off all of your fingers...lol...when I do primitive projects I do not like the solid cut lines the piece has..so I take out my band saw, put the table plate on an angle, hold the piece and randomly cut out chunks along the edge to give it yet a more primitive look...but..sometimes the blade digs in deep and pulls...MUST always be alert as not to cut fingers..not something one should do, but I DO!!!!
I can't comment on all because I have been off for a few days. You all know.
I want to take all your bundle of plants Shar, I'd want to roll around in that fern too.
The camping pictures make me miss it, we haven't gone for two years now. Looks like a happy family time.
The holloween costumes were fantastic and I don't know how you had the time to do all that.
Somebody make a single post in case I have to catch up in bold letters to say when we are doing Santas Workshop PLEASE!
Betty I have feaux textured my walls with venitian plaster like you. I cheated on parts of it because when I did it right it took 8 hours to do a 4x5 area. It is harder to take a good picture of it than it is to see in real life ha? I love your furniture too. You know you can not get too upset about your Sister, she is under strain and feels so humiliated and worried and she is obviously worried about what others will think but you did right to show you cared and your kids too. Even if it was wrong , for her seeing, your heart and intentions were right. I think of myself every time when some thing like that happens because I remember Kathy Lee Gifford once saying, she gets in trouble for saying things once in a while and it bothered her so much because she said if they knew the heart and intentions behind her big mouth, no one would be mad at her. Your heart is never trying to hurt anyone. EVER!
Right on Dawn!
I would love to come help decorate...I am 5'1, not too afraid of heights can get to about the 5th rung of a ladder without being afraid.
...there's a but...I don't drive expressways, they petrify me...So by the time I get to your place it will be tomorrow and man it's back to work.
does a train go out that way?
...how 'bout you show me your decorations and I'll tell you where to place them. LOL
Yep we will have to sycranize our time for the workshop...Remeber if it is sunday here, then Laura is on Monday.
Oh gosh, Betty...yow that sounds too dangerous for me. Have to say glad i didn't know what it was before you chunked...I'd be a wreck watching! BE CAREFUL...well guess you were since you still have your fingers LOL
Judy, when I was cutting all day Sat. Kyle and a few friends came in (you know I don't lock doors) and my cutting room is downstairs in the back near laundry room so don't hear anyone coming down until they are near me and it scares the beejeebers out of me..but on the commercial scroll saw, I could move my hand before much damage is done, so, on Sunday I did lock the doors just incase someone came in and I'd be cutting, concentrating and they'd scare me..then, I'd be missing fingers or hand (the blade measurement is up so there is about 7 " of clearing) easily take a hand...so I do take precautions..I make sure I'm not tired, I even hold the wood piece with my fingers folded inwards..some of those small pieces are a little more difficult...but, it's all done..I'm ok..thanks for watching over me...lol...
I can do Laura in the early evening, which is her early morning...
I really will have to check out the webcam..anyone know how you get the voice on it..I'll play with it this afternoon to see if you can visually SEE if I were working on the project to show you the painting technique with saran wrap...just on my way to lunch..hungry and yet not..hmm..maybe I had better just a a small bite and save it for turkey supper...
Betty - you should ALWAYS lock your doors!! I think we would all love to live in a place where we didn't need to but in today's world, even those places are going scarce.
Seed, you just took a "mental health" day. Other then vacation, that's one of the most used days around here - especially with moms! My neighbor is a single mom, teaches high school geometry, is one of the cheering coaches and has to work the football /basketball/ etc games selling tickets. She took a MH day Friday and said it made all the difference - like she had been off for a week! I live between her and another neighbor - so we did girls night out last night and hit the mall that was having a holiday kick off. I found these great stepping stones at Kirkland that were normally like $15 each and after the discount were only $2.38 each. I bought 4 different ones and thank God that was our last stop cause they weighed about 10 lbs EACH! Went to Coldwater Creek and got a pair of jeans (moss color), a pair of twill pants and 2 l/s tops and after the discounts it all came to $62. That's the price of just the jeans! Of course I don't dare tell DH of my finds cause he will say "a real bargin would have been one you didn't spend any money on". MEN!
Sounds like your 'shopping night out' was fun...stepping stones and clothing..good choice..bet they were in the 'must have' bin..right...still to this day sometimes I have to catch myself..have no-one to say anything about anything I spend but always discount it..comes from times with DH Roger..always had buying price and then a price for him when I got home..doubt he ever believed it, but it was a game we'd play!!!
I never/never lock my doors..if someone needs it more than I, they can have it...friends go in and out all the time..if they are passing the house they drop in, let the dog out for awhile, get a book for painting projects or drop of supper or whatever...know it's a no no in most places but, I feel comfortable doing it...do lock them at night now.
Today my girlfriend Darlene was in town, called me early this a.m. to say she found the burlap I needed for Victorian Santa's and also some poinsiettas' and then picking up brushes for Sat. thought it might help out...so, she dropped it off..it's either give half the community my keys or just leave door open..lol...

Laura, you are just too brief with your postings..that worries me..you are always just so chatty..come on girl..get gabbing..lol..did you get the stained glass parcel yet?...maybe they thought the soldering iron look like a gun and are keeping it..just kidding..
Boy it's already dark/dark outside...I've got a good vision for you..went out with Paul/Suzanne/Wayne to a nice restaurant .. had hot beef sandwhich..gravy and corn..anyway..shortly after I got back I started to have pain in the tummy..I'm sitting here with pants open ..each side of zipper is halfway at my sides, no way can I even use the belt to hold them up..I look as though I'm 9 months pregnant...have no clue what's happening..something must not have agreed with me..was going to go and check about my glasses but NOT when I can't even hold up my slacks, not sure how I'll get down the elevator to the car...lol
15 more minutes...Suzanne showed Paul my tummy, like a man he said, 'well no more lunches for you' lol
Not sure if I told you girls that on Friday when I went to the Post Office I ran into Helen who paints at my house..well, another friend Carol, a beautiful/beautiful woman, well she had a painting studio and when she moved up north everything moved up with her..hundreds of books, paints, wood pieces..then last year she started to have headaches, shortly after they confirmed brain cancer and she died just before Thanksgiving..little younger than I..anyway Helen told me that Carol's husband wanted to see me, wants me to pick everything up..called but no answer ..think he's gone hunting this week..left a message..she had nice raw wood and lots of pattern packages so we'll see..feel kind of funny doing it, but he says if I don't he'll just call someone else...
You'd almost think it was midnight..it's so very dark out there..must go..do have a great afternoon/evening..even those of you who played hookie.....
Betty, I just got a call from someone who has 400 frames to give away. I am taking them up on it for my art people at the gallery......so think of Carol's in those terms....it will all be used for others.
How sad about your friend Carol who passed away....but you would do her an honour to use her things.
I do hope you don't have food poisoning. Did anyone else have the same food you had?
Hope you feel better soon.
Cheers,
Carol
