http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/780276/ We were here. I thought it looked long when I was skimming, too long for some so I took a leap. Hope it works.
Best/Worst time to move again girls and boys part?19?I think
Dawn, you did good! I found you..LOL
What were you up to today? Spent my morning working with the new material on my ornaments! Not thrilled on the outcome so will return to the original material till something else jumps at me. Had a nice breakfast and it was off to work outside. We had old side walling collapse not long ago. Kids cleaned up the debris...The DH and I went and cleared the wall. We inserted insulation, can't believe there was't any! Also put up new sheet of wood. So New wall is half way done. While Dh did his prep work on that, I decided to begin stripping the wood. We have Red Wood that was painted over. Stripped six before my arms couldn't handle any more. While that was going on, DS dug a couple of holes in the front garden. I planted 2 MUMS..A white and an Orange one. Hope they make it...weather still decent so hope so. What a splendid way to spend an afternoon, sunshine, nice breeze and just alot of fun working together on a project.
It is exceptionally late for me...first chance to sit down and write. Will take morning break to write you all back, now my mind is a bit groggy so will say good night.
Hope everyone had a great and productive weekend too...Good night.
Morning everyone...thanks Dawn for moving us over...so dark and quiet out there this morning..of course it's not even 5:00 am. so who else but me would be up..lol
Start to another week..will catch up with you this morning at work...
Hope it's sunny in your neck of the woods...enjoy your day
hello,
it was sunny today... didnt see much of it though as you know when you work.
Betty you have a lovely voice! soft and gentle... I cant believe i missed your call but was SO excited to hear your voice... i bet you would have laughed at my aussie accent!
My boss was really unwell today, she has ruematoid arthritis and has to take medication that they give to chemo patients....no wonder she is such a sad sack.
i asked her if i could do anything for her.....and to let me know if she needed anything... i have kept being nice to her and will continue to do so. i meant it too... she has nothing on me but her unwillingness to help...
anyway, hopefully all will be settled one way or another on friday...
not much else to report....
have a good day
x
morning all,
judy what a nice day you spent with the family i bet your beat now, your going to love this one dont laugh.. yesterday we went to a record storethat has vinals cassetts even 8tracks i remember the trama having to convert from 8track to cassett lol anyway there used ,new ect so being in one of my 80's mood i got a cyndy lauper tape dh just looked at me started to smile i cant wait till he go's to work so i can blast the stero.
laura so that would explain why she has been so misserable i think that is the best thing you did be kind.
betty, you to up and at em cant make any noise but in three hours... watch out! lol
geeze your all at work already got the mopping done cleanning out the cubbords
Finally, rest time here at work..thank goodness for working..time to catch my breath..lol..
Carol, what a beautiful looking family..daughter looks a lot like you...surely those apples are close to being gone..how much fun is that, giving them away..did you get the snow..for about 15minutes yesterday morning and then I was off to Fabricland and when leaving it was hailing like the dickens while the sun was out...I do get a sense of accomplishment to see what I've achieved through my own manpower..amazing what one can do..many days I'd like to lounge but I just push/push/push...BIL says I do more work on a weekend than he does in a few months...have no idea once everything is done what I'll occupy my time with but I'm sure I'll find something...
Liz, how much longer will it be until your DH is well enough to get back to work? Must clean my cupboards as well..if I throw everything that is past dated they'll be empty..keeping them on the shelves makes it look at least like I have food..lol...
Laura, maybe your boss will see the kindness in you and realize she has been unfair..guess we never know how others are feeling..it isn't right, but you just keep being yourself...don't know about the soft and gentle voice..but thanks..
Dawn, my goodness your dad looks so young, I was going to ask if he was your ex..(slap me silly right)...everything ok now after the fires..no more smoke, people back to their homes, those that have them...what a tragedy...Speaking of fires, heard about the tragedy that happened over the weekend..all those kids who dies in the fire and now they think someone may have started it...omg..how tragic..how is Greg doing..almost ready to go back to work isn't he...
Jeannine, how exciting, working from home..this old mind can't remember, did you tell us what you are doing as work? Making a good show to boss...you know what that's called...haven't heard any more about that 'bed' of yours..still searching..is Murphy in the crate all day or he just goes in and naps? Sounds like that was quite a Halloween party..some parents just don't have it together as a parent do they..you would think they'd go to the door when dropping their child off and then to pick them up thanking the parents throwing the party for all their efforts...someone should teach them manners..right? Can you structure your day well enough to work from home..have a friend Rita who now works from home..most of her work is done on computer/sales etc. - she gets up and starts working at 6am for 4 hrs...has the day to herself and then she works in the evening..she lives on the shores of Georgian Bay and finds it very distracting and friends drop in from time to time..so quite hard to stay focused...how was the visit with DFIL..
Sitting here yawning, still have painting projects here to do, boss won't be in until 11am but think I'll put my head back and rest a bit...
betty,
he is working but sometimes after his injection on fridays he virtually gets no sleep all weekend, and stays home on mondays to catch up on sleep but he will be off this in feb thank god i cant wait it just makes him have no energy.
so its been hard on me having to do a little more to keep things balanced now just this morning saw a ad on craigs list in the next town about 6 minutes away for free things so he said hurry up i'll take you before i go to work.
more kid things but i got a couple peices nice pine wood and a foot stool for the out door furniture but it was so funny i had to make a copy of the ad just in case the police drove by and saw these crazy people out in the parking lot with a flashlight pilfering through curbside trash lol 7.00 and its still dark one more hour before i can make noise
lol..do you have room for 1 more thing Liz..surely not!! can just see you in the trash pile...I AM envious..I'm going to be ready in the spring for our curbside pick up..Michelle across the street picks up such treasures..
yep there's always more room to squeeze something else in just not in the kitchen
I was going to post yesterday and didn't get a chance so here I am today.
Dawn, your hair looks amazing. I showed DH and then told him how long your hair used to be (I remember your picture from the 'long hair' thread). He just said, "Wow". I cut my hair really short a few years ago and I decided never again. It was too much work for me and never seemed to look good. You look great though.
So, we had our scary party on Saturday. That's the main reason I wasn't on much last week. I was going crazy trying to get the haunted house finished. It turned out really good. Now I just wish that I could just shut the door and leave it set up till next year. That's where my sewing machines and tools are though so it's a no go. Anyway, we had about 15 kids over and that was plenty. We played a few monster games. One was where the kids had to get partners and one had to wrap the other in toilet paper. When that game was over they had so much fun just throwing 8 rolls worth of toilet paper around. I had to strap Ella on my back so she wouldn't try to eat it all. Sonora led the tours through the haunted house and I think she really enjoyed doing that. After the kids' party was over we had some adult friends come over and take a tour too. I took some pictures but they didn't turn out all that well. I think I'll try again before I dismantle everything. If I used the flash it was too bright and not spooky. Without the flash it was a little blurry. I think I'll do some experimenting.
First we have our dead body. Some parts (like the head) were removed for dissection.
Then we had to walk past some floating heads (that didn't show up in the picture) and an arm getting sawed in half. At this point you had to crawl through a dark tunnel on hands and knees. In the picture you can also see a witch that tried would scream and grab you as you went by. You can also see a head that was glowing. (Again, I had to use the flash otherwise it was too dark on camera.)
Gillian.. wasn't Ella frightened? How cool, I almost think people decorate for Halloween as much as Christmas...15 kids, omg, you've the patience of a Saint!! bet Sonora made a great guide...did all these children dress up??? I can't imagine all that toilet paper..what was the object of the game..first wrapped up??? how brilliant...bet the adults enjoyed it as much as the children..I'm anxious for halloween night as well..must pick up more liquid for the fogger...hate to move the stereo system from basement to upper floor just for the eerie sounds..will try to borrow a cd player...
Did you and DH make all these horrors??? imagination galore..you should have done it at the school..would have been a great fundraiser...I'll have to join you and Liz and prepare for next year
DH help? hahahahahahahahah! This was all Sonora and me. DH helped by giving us time to do it and being patient. He was very helpful leading games at the party though.
Anyway, after crawling through the tunnel we were greeted by this creepy guy. Then it was a trip through some floating 'dead bodies' and a skeleton DD calls 'Death'.
Oh, at the beginning there's a door where there's a monster scratching to try to get out.
Throughout the haunted house there are several motion-activated things as well. I wanted to make it so that we didn't need other people to operated it. All it needs is the tour guide who takes 1-3 people around at a time. The kids had so much fun. They wanted to keep on going. Eventually, we gave Sonora a break though.
There's a haunted house that the community usually does as a fundraiser. The kid's one is tonight and the adult's one is tomorrow. For the past couple of years one of the grade three teachers has done one at the school with her class. She's teaching a different grade this year though and isn't doing it. To be honest, I do this mainly because Sonora loves it. She's the one who asked for almost a year to have a scary party before I finally relented two years ago at Hallowe'en (she wanted to do it the February before).
So, this morning we woke up to the wonderful sight of snow. I LOVE winter. It probably helps that I rarely have to drive anywhere. Here are the kids enjoying the first of the snow on the ground. Sonora made a snowman and Ian enjoyed eating the snow off the car (yuck).
One last picture. I had to laugh when I read Liz's post about getting a Cyndi Lauper tape. I dressed up as her for the Hallowe'en dance on Saturday. I put found a video on the internet to show Sonora and some of her friends who Cyndi Lauper is. Sonora can't get enough now. It's so funny.
Well, off to have my lunch now.
That is just amazing. Man I never had that much fun when My kids were small. I always had to take them out trick or treating so never had time to go all out on my yard but my X had fun a few times dressing up with a scary costume and looked like a stuffed guy sitting in a lawn chair with a bucket of candy on his lap and a sign that said just take one please. He's let a few go through and if one took too many or he felt like it , he would move and his eyes would flash, there were kids running and screaming down the street and he would be laughing till he cried.
I am laughing because I never have had long hair, it is too thin but in that picture if it is this one I had a bunch of fake hair attachment ponytails and feux falls etc. that I wear sometimes. I just bought in an african American store real hair on a weft and cut it in sections and sewed clips on them to clip in fuller and longer hair. I need to have them cut though to a style and I may not be able to use them with this short stacked bob in the back. lol
Oops, now I'm embarassed. I just checked the other thread and it was someone else. In my defense, she has numbers in her username too - lol.
gilli,oh what fun the girls had, great party
how neat was that that outfit it was great!
and snow im just green with envy
You guys are too funny...came back from lunch early..you can tell I'm tired because if I didn't get out of restaurant I would have exploded..the girl 2 ahead of me, every time the chineese girl would give her a different type of food she'd make such a face and shake her head..then the man who she was with kept talking on his cel while ordering and before he finished ordering he had to leave to so poor girl didn't know what to do with the order...I got my order, made sure I smiled and said thank you,a few minutes later in comes the same man, still talking on the telephone, the girl behind the counter was having a hard time understanding him between his cel call and ordering, she has difficulties speaking english and was so nervous, then he started yelling at her..had I been closer I would have bumped into him and dropped my food all over his business suit..so inconsiderate..
You can tell Gillian that you and Dawn are much younger than I..couldn't tell you who Cindy Lauper is..lol..but if she looked like you Gillian in your dress up costume, then she's pretty...
Liz, I can always package some up and send it to you..wait till you see me next to my 6' snowbank and snowmobile outfit..lol
What Fun...I really enjoyed the haunted house you had Gilli.! Sounds like it was a grand success. You are too cool to allow your house to be TP'ed, sounds like a really fun game.
Hahaha, Haven't heard Cindy Lauper in ages! Now I've been humming and mimicking ...Dan nanana...Girls just want to have fu un...You make a cute Cindy Gilli...
So Liz, it is afternoon here, just having lunch at 2:00 wondering what all kinds of noise you want to make so early in morn? LOL --did retrieve your Dumpster Dive finds...A fun way to start the day...even if you have to make copies tooo funny. Two more days to the big event...are you excited? Duh.
Dawn that is so funny...Love halloween monster like that...last year we had a Haunted maze, that the end of the maze, one of us would jump from behind a black curtain Dressed in monster garb, Reminding who ever to grap a catalog! I wish i had pictures from then (in My old computer)
Betty, your front porch looks great!! Playing cut-outs...cool The pop machine costume sure to be a success...We are concentrating on the Costume party we are attending Next weekend...Theme this year eveyone has to be dressed as something start with a P....I am going as a pumpkin, heheh, bet you thought i was kidding! DH going as a Polish Pot head! DH1 A Pixie, DH2 dunno yet, DS maybe a Pirate.
So thought I would throw in a couple pics from the weekend...First one is of Kids last year with there Pumpkins.
Judy Babe, how many hubbies do you have..holding out on us...look at those children smile...hope you aren't carrying around that humungous pumpkin hubby brought home...am hoping Paul will let us leave early so we can be home for the youngest of the trick or treaters..if not, then 6:30 will have to do..even one hour would help..but then, we ask for Friday's off, geezzz how many days are we looking for...lol...
One of the girls from another msn group who dropped in here last week just called, wants to come and do my santa workshop..she's never made anything..guaranteed she's go home with the lovely santa....
Oh...hahahaha, didn't realize I wrote DH so many times!! heheh, only one is more than enough for me...little blushing here.
Oh sure hope Paul lets you out early...has he in the past? i love the drive home just to watch the little one up and down the street...so cute
Well now your Santa's workshop really filling up. So far, 7, ah but well see if they remember. Girls a friend each and me and my firend, maby one other...
Going to see what else at the fabric store...I am sure one can use any material with a winter theme...Was checking out the Decupoge stuff at craft store...Think I'll get a medium size does it matter gloss or matte?
*yawn*
morning all, just starting my day with my friends,,,,
I've got to get some pics happening.... i promised some of the GS, hei s growing so big now. my cameral hasnt been working but its ok now so next time he is down, i will post some.
sun is out today which is nice....
off for a showerl
have agood day.
xx
the decorations were amazing but one question... umm.. eyeballs, body parts,,, innards... what are they made from and where did yu get them... (im afraid to ask!)
Judy, was wondering, saw DH, then DH1 and DH2, thought maybe you had a commune going... sounds like you'll have fun with your group..I have enough Santa's for you all, brought about 20 here to the office, as well as envelopes..am making a list and checking it twice..to attach it to the package..so please, don't go looking for them, if later you decide to do extra's later, then by all means go shopping.. Fabricland who have about 200 stores in ontario shipped all their bolts to Midland when we were doing the project and am sure we girls bought them all up ..so not a problem....if you can't find extra's I'm sure the girls would share...
Podgie - I would buy Matt, you don't want the surface to look like plastic..if you purchase a large one at Michael's it most likely will do all 7..just incase, maybe buy 1 large and 1 small container ... everyone else, a small will be more than enough..Laura, if you can't find podgie, let me know and I'll ship a bottle...
you need for 7 about 2 or 3 rolls of saran wrap(or similar)- everyone else doing 1 or 2 - pick up 1 roll...
When your sleigh has been cut, basecoat the top/sides/and underneath the sleigh top with a medium grey acrylic paint.. (DO NOT add runners at this time as you'll guck it all up)..once piece is finished you can bradnail or glue runners to the top finished piece)
I'll post what colors I use for the piece so you can pick them up...some of you will already have them..
I should go to msn group and look for instructions and photo of the piece the girls did from the instructions..I'll try to find their finished photo....
Now everyone's schedule is so different, how are we going to do this??? suggestions please...
Are we going to each do our own kind of 1 on 1, with me beside computer should you need help??? or are we going to try and pick a date? hmmm something to think about...what do you think is the easiest for you all...???
Suzanne had an application come in so we're here a little later than usual..oh well, makes up for Friday...
PLEASE/PLEASE sometimes I ramble on..if there is anything pertaining to this project that I instruct or give you to purchase that doesn't seem quite right or you don't understand then please let me know...I know my own shortfallings..lol
Laura, I'm laughing not at you but with you..we're all so used to Halloween and can't imagine not having it as a festivity....good luck at work..hope the boss is appreciating kindness...
Man I feel like a bump on a log compared to you all. I'm tired just hearing all the things yall do. Your kids are really beautiful Seed, they look like eachother so much.
Betty I don't get into people's business much but that is the time that I would have had to say something or did something to that rude idiot too. Poor lady. I defended a thai lady to her rude employer once and she was so embarrassed and thought she would be fired. I didn't do it in front of the employee either, just told her.
Some people think they are so important and everyone else exists for their comfort. My step Dad was that way. He sure knew when someone was rude to him or mom but he could be selfrighteous and was ruder than most people to others.
late afternoon all,
carol what lovely girls do you have snow to ?
dawn, look good with or without long hair now im curious do you get snow ? not a bump on the log come on join the group in the sleigh betty says no painting involved
judy, oh lol to turn up the stero, your your kids are good looking to now do the girls gang up on the boy? lol
oh im getting excited but were stressing we dont have enough candy i'll post the candy bowl
laura, lol eye balls in a jar is fun and body parts there usually plastic?rubber unless there is some other material they use now, but it can be real realistic i remember hearing someone say it was the best holliday, a time they could be sickly creative and it is social acceptable lol
now dh says he wants to dress up and scare the kids in a costume last year we had three hysterical crying they didnt want to come in because of the props lol
betty, wow i applaude you i would of said something to them both there's so much of that now it is so fustrating how about a sunday?? most are home in the afternoon or sat you get snow banks to omg you mean you get to make snow angels in the snow kind of fun oh i cant wait to see
OMG, got home and Kyle called in a panic..the refrigerator box that he spray painted last night is still tacky so can't bring it here..I teach tomorrow night as I cancelled Wedn. class because of Halloween, so no grandma to help..his dad will come over with him and I'll just instruct him..a friend works for Coca Cola and he thinks he can get decals for Kyle..if not, I've cut some out..then I told Greg that we'll cut top/bottom off of about 6 cans of coke, brad nail them onto a board, air staple them lengthwise to the box, then cut cardboard away so you only see the coca cola part..he thought that was a great idea so he wasn't as upset, of coarse Noah is prancing around in his clown costume to show he's ready and Kyle's not..typical kids..well, it's bath time, eating while watching dancing with the stars and then off to bed...
Liz, a Sunday would be great..I'll get the packages out maybe Wedn. or Thurs....I'll trace the sleigh pattern top and runners for you all...also Liz, the wings on the geese are thin rough wood for texture so I'm sending 4 (2 for each) in the package...
so very nice to come home to a spotless house..girls didn't come today as per norm..Darlene had to flu and had to cancel today...
Sure do hope you've enjoyed your day...mine was relaxing..
I'll say like the kids, how many more sleeps before Halloween?????
ho betty, kyle must just be besides himself but it will all come along he'll be ready for halloween oh while im thinking of it can i send you some postage money?
Morning all,
Thanks for the nice comments about my family.
Your Halloween decorations are amazing.
Seed..what a happy pic of your girls.
Liz..no snow here yet..just a big frost yesterday..it killed the some of the annuals cannas and impatiens.
All the plants I want to overwinter are in the basement under lights now.
Betty you have a great idea about the pop cans..I'm sure it will all be fabulous when it is done.
This is Dana before going to a Halloween party on Sat. as a Geisha. She is my youngest grandaughter.
We don't get any kids here on Halloween my road so I go spend the evening with my daughter and give out the candy there.
Have a great day,
Carol
Guess what i am going to do?
I could nt think what to get my Dh for xmas so, i have arranged to go to a recording studio and record two love songs for him! he has always loved my voice and i thought it would be special and personal for him.. what do you all think?
Im going for rehersals starting tomorrow night while he is at work... hope it works out...
nite nite
x
morning all,
laura, what a wonderful idea im sure dh will be thrilled to receive his gift
carol, lovely girl now is there alot of trick or treaters where your daughter lives?
betty, what are you doing? you must be on your way to work lol
OMG Carol, Dana is absolutely beautiful..and look at that costume, or was it someone's real garb? Cold outside this morning as well..but it's sunny..weatherman calling for rain tomorrow..let's hope it's all day and clears for the evening..
Laura, what a gift, to be able to sing...love music, love singing but must do it alone as I'm not the best at it..youngest son is very musical and can sing, takes after Roger's side of the family for sure, though, my dad played guitar and sang..
That would be quite a christmas gift..so meaningful..he'll love it for sure..is there a studio nearby..is that what you will be doing? how much fun is that..you'll have to get extra copies..will be so nice to be able to say I'm friends with a recording artist....
isn't it wonderful to get gifts that someone has put much thought into it...usually my family do, but this year I've asked for $$$$$ so I can spent it in Florida...lol..
Liz, postage all looked after...one day it will be something that I need...
Was so tired last night, got comfy to watch Dancing with the Stars..got to watch 2 dancers and then fell asleep...tonight, have my painters so it will again be a late night...just think, Thursday we'll be able to say 'Christmas is next month' I so do love the Christmas season...must pick up my light and sound machine for the lawn..I'll drive everyone crazy I'm sure with Christmas lights flickering to Christmas carols..will pick up one for Melanie to go with her gifts..her neighbors will appreciate the gesture I'm sure..lol...aren't I bad...
Liz, we cross posted...just think, you'll be in your glory tomorrow night with all those trick or treaters....guess you are not worried about 'rain'...
