It sure has been, Candyce..........what did the little ladies do today to celebrate the gorgeous fall?
Fall Color 3
Victor - how did you like that faulty capitalization in my last post? Let's just say that I'm morphing away from being the grammar guru I once was.......I take it as a liberating, good sign.......don't you??? LOL
Cool Thom! I have sold many of my photos and have done garden website text editing - all for payment in plants! Love the barter system. I agree about Itea and have been pushing it for a while. Not only is the color great, but it lasts a very, very long time. Mine is usually still there into December.
I see that Louise. nO, i Culd never Do tht.
We have got to move to the New England area!! Just when I think all of your pictures could not possibly get better more show up that take my breath away. I have a question for all of you. Our Sunday newspaper printed an article from Vermont where a plant biologist said the autumn colors in Vermont is nothing like it used to be. Others stated that the color is duller in the New England area. Sure does not look like it from the pictures you all are posting. What do all of you think?
That looks like Beni Schichihenge, Thom.
qy, I saw that report and have not noticed it around here. We're still getting started and it looks as beautiful as ever. All the Maine, Mass and NH pics look it as well.
Yep - looks good. I still have not met a JM I didn't like! Thanks for the whiplash.
That's what it is...Paul doesn't know, but that was a Bday present from me, by me...lol. Here's the last Acer pic I have, this is A. 'Butterfly' I was trying for a Asian/Japanese styled bed...getting there slowly but surely...Behind A. 'Butterfly' is a clumping bamboo, 'Green Panda'...don't know the Genus.
Great to hear things have not changed as far as you can tell Victorgardener!
This may, or may not have any relevance to the question you asked quietyard, but I'm finding that certain shrubs and trees are more vibrant this year than in other years. I never, ever (don't anyone yell at me) took notice of the spectabulussness of Amelanchiers, but this year they are knocking my socks off...I might have to go out and buy one or 3...lol.
Yes, they're one of the best. I planted one last year but the deer got it. Have to try again. The berries are supposed to be as good or better than blueberries.
Combining something I can eat, with something that is aesthetically pleasing, just throw in a few Buyers Choice pieces, and I will be in...hmmm...not sure...lol.
Glad to hear your colors are more vibrant this year, Hemhostaholic. What are Amelanchiers?
Serviceberries...I have no idea how to send a plant phile here...I'll try.
Stunning, Deb. Thom, Princess Diana is a good one.
I'll look up the serviceberries, Hemhostaholic. Thanks for the answer!
Thom - your variegated maple is gorgeous! I love the pinkish red stems....what a show it's putting on!! My JM is looking really pretty now, but it's orangey. I love that pink on yours!
quietyard - here in NH we got off to a much slower start and the peak is at least a week later than most years. BUT - it has made up for it now! The color is magnificent now. I will say though, that a couple of my trees that usually put on a show lost their leaves early before they were ever peak.
Debilu - great shots of the golf course and Canandaigua Lake. I had no idea you lived so close to Canandaigua. We were there in June for a close friend's Big Birthday surprise celebration. It was too warm for us to leave our dog in the car while we went into a restaurant the night before the party, so we had a picnic at the public park (with our dog) on Canandaigua Lake, and it was so nice and breezy. That is a nice spot. We also went to Naples........such a lovely area - as your shots show!!
Thanks for your report DonnieBrook. It is very interesting to hear the observations from different states.
Thanks Victor and DonnieBrook.
I'm about 45 minutes north of Canandaigua, the drive to Naples today was gorgeous, and I really felt lucky to spend the afternoon golfing in such beautiful countryside.
Those are beautiful shots and lucky you to spend the day with that view~
Thanks for sharing all the beauty. You people really do take some awesome shots! And the places are just breath taking! I wish I had more time to get out and take some photo's too. Ontario is sooooooo beautiful this time of year!
The photos you all posted are incredibly lovely!
Here on the Cape the warm temps haven't encouraged much color as yet. . . but we did have 35 mph winds two nights ago, and I thought I'd send a little reminder of the "other side" of fall color. LOL
I've been rakin'!

I just love the fall colors. The crisp air seems to be holding off, but I'll welcome it too. Everyone's pics are so beautiful. Eleanor, I can just visualize a walk like yours. One very lucky lady!
Fall colors here in western New York have been as spectacular as ever.
Debilu, The photo of the lake is really wonderful. You manage to get the feeling that it goes on for miles, which it does!
Nothing like the scenery in the NE at this time of year. Love the water pics and color combos and reflections too. :)
Beautiful bebop!
Bebop, My brother lived in Ithaca for 10 years and he so loved the trails and waterfalls you mentioned. It is a beautiful area with many great places to view nature at it's best! Beautiful shot!!!
