Beth - I am just curious ... do the indoor blooms on your nils get as big as they would outside in the sunshine?
Byndeweedblooms 3
Yes, they are the same size. I only notice a reduction in size if I let the room get too cool (under 70 degrees)
A real treat to see these gorgeous blooms this late in the year.
It's neat how we are able to grow at different times across the country. It will be no time before the Florida people will be showing off their spring blooms!
Love the keiryu, Beth!
Very welcome pics, Beth, what with the sleety snow outside
Karen
We only get liquid snow :(
Weather in a blender, huh?
that's cute..lol. you get smoothies..
It gets lumpy in our balmiest month - 3/4" hail one June that stripped every young apple from our apple trees and shredded hostas as if giant, extraterrestrial slugs had been partying. Have never seen hail like that in winter here - go figure.
We got a couple flakes falling this weekend, but of course they melt immediately when they hit the ground. DH comes in all excited yelling "It's snowing!"
Anybody living in a REAL snow zone would laugh!
Very pretty. Is this a small blooming glory?
I just wonder how many years it will be before I see a bloom!
Here it is from the plantfiles blooming in Australia. It does look like a smaller bloom, but a lot of them.

Thanx Beth, It's a beauty, no matter the size.
I've been finding 3 or 4 of these every week in the recycle bin. They are a perfect size for growing a nil in! I just poke holes in the bottom and I'm not worried about using them, they were just secondary containment for shipping. Someone is using a lot of acid, though....I just hope they keep on using it up! I should go over to the trash to treasure forum on how to make them better looking.
It doesn't take much to make me happy....LOL!!
Just paint them verdigris. http://www.rustoleum.com/ColorGroup.asp?ddc=17&SBL=5
Will it stick?
Yes, it'll stick and it's waterproof. It's meant to stick to metal outdoors. I painted some outdoor metal tables some years ago, and they're still holding up through all the seasons. Not even a chip.
They are stainless, really nice and thick.
For what it is worth, Cairns is 16 degrees south of the equator. That is hot It is also where tourists go to see the great barrier reef. Frank
Mine might grow a lot slower than in Cairns....I just hope to see a bloom someday!
The containers were used to ship methacrylic acid so any metal that would be succeptible to acid leaks couldn't be used. They had to use stainless.
