Fresh beef is yummy
Rick is prepared to tell the "neighbor" that he has "30-odd" reasons why the cows shouldn't be on our property :( Happy to report no signs of them yesterday and we got RAIN all day and more on the way today - yippee!!! This is the first time since the end of June that rain has actually driven me indoors to work in my office - alot of catching up to do LOL

venu, kudos to you for hiring a personal trainer, nothing like being physically fit to take on the challenges of gardening! An ideal situation - a personal trainer who would barter for plants LOL

Victor, I checked out Garden Crossings but could only find free shipping on orders over $49.99 and current specials on their Mums? They have one of the shrubs I've been wanting for the gardens - Cornus alternifolia 'Golden Shadows' https://www.gardencrossings.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/plants.plantDetail/plant_id/691/index.htm and if it really was 30% off it would be a steal!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Celeste - I pulled out some of my old house photos to scan. Is this your church.LOL

No Al, but it's lovely!! What I wouldn't give to be able to climb up into those towers and see the view!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

That's got to have a GREAT view, any time of year!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Deb - it's 30% on everything. Perhaps they're giving the regular customers a head start by sending the announcement in an email. Just type in fall07 in the discount code box and watch the 30% drop!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I don't know about anywhere else but it seems that drivers are getting worse. It was raining very lightly around 2:45 and I was going to the bank before picking up my son from school. In NJ you have to have your headlights on if it's raining(it's the law).
Of course it's also kinda dark and dreary so you'd WANT your lights on. I pass this crazy woman no lights, wipers on super fast(mind you it was only lightly raining) and her sun visors down. What the heck???? Good thing she was going the opposite direction.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not surprising at all. Drivers get worse and worse every day.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Especially the transplanted NY'rs

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey! I resemble that remark. I was never an aggressive driver but I used to get really angry at other drivers' behavior and felt compelled to let him / her know how I felt. I learned that it was not worth it. Things can escalate quickly.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Especially now, you never know who's carrying a weapon. Hubby gets so mad he'll actually follow someone to let them know how he feels. I usually just shake my head or laugh it off.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's what I used to do. I would speed up and make sure I could look over and stare at them or offer a friendly gesture.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I'll bet you didn't use all your fingers for that "friendly" gesture.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No I need some for my coffee, buttered roll, cell phone and makeup.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I got a speeding ticket this morning : (

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh bummer. Sorry to hear that Deb. Were you distracted by the foliage?! I would have tried that on the cop.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

He didn't give me a chance to try anything!!!!
Usually I'm a nurse works.....
Once, I said, I'm on antibiotics, and they give me diarrhea, and I was in a hurry to get to the next rest stop (thruway)!!!!! (totally made up)
I didn't get a chance to say anything this morning!

Helps when you have a detective in the family and you can flash the gold.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Well I guess I have more planting to do this fall. Garden Crossing got me as well as Dutch Gardens. I better get off this PC before the CC catches fire. Of course I did receive a seed catalogue I could peruse...

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Oops, Just realized I posted my Festivus related post on the wrong thread. Meant to put it here. Anyway, it was great. Can anyone tell me Karamer's occupation (and why he never seemed to work)?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

He worked in the bagel shop and was on strike?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Still. I don't know

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Bingo!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

As Pirl reported on the other thread, H&H Bagel shop and was on strike for 12 years. In this episode, the strike ends when minimum wage reaches the amount they were striking for.
Debbie gets full credit.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

The drivers are getting worse? I didn't think they COULD get worse!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yes, drivers are getting worse. I always wish that I was a secret cop and I could pull over all those bad drivers and slap them with a $1000 fine or something outrageous. DH just wants to throw a grenade in their car.

Deb, I love your excuses. Too bad the cop wouldn't give you an opportunity to use them today!!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

We're watching "Meet the Robinsons" now

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good movie.

I finished painting the primer except a little part by the baseboard heater. Food break! PB & J. Food of the Gods.

I've had a busy week. DD#2 was in Baltimore on business so Colin was mine for most of the week. Here he is trying on his Halloween costume - ever seen a child so excited about wearing a Halloween costume? Should take bets on whether he'll wear it Wednesday for trick-or-treating!! Eleanor

(Zone 4a)

OMG grammy he is sooooooooo flipping cute!!! Can I take him home?? LOL

Today I met a best friend that I had back in high school. OMG we are like soul mates...we all hit it off great after not having seen one another for like almost 20 years!!!!! Can you believe it!!!! I am certainly going to be talking about this at my water cooler on Monday!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did you say 'See you in 20' when you left??

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks Dawn and Debilu. Dawn - that is so great to re-meet a friend after so long a time. Can't wait to hear more about it!! Two years ago I re-met an old high school friend but the circumstances were not so good. She's a pulmonary nurse (I think I got that right, she checks breathing on patients) and she came into my father's hospital room to check on his lung function. We just stood there looking at each other for a minute and then one of said, are you......? We didn't even answer the question we just hugged, spent 5 minutes catching up and then she had to get back to work. When I went back to my father's house I grabbed some his pics of my kids to show her but never got the chance. I felt an urgent tugging to get back to the hospital and that was to be with Dad when he died a short time later. So we were never able to get to talk more.
Eleanor

p.s. - going out to Syracuse (Camillus) and leaving in a while. DD#1 has a meeting out there tomorrow and is taking me along to see some of my family that lives out there. Be back late Monday night.
