The first inning was my favorite - great start. Although 3 walking runs in a row was something.
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor XVII
The Rockies fell asleep after the anthem. Hopefully they will be more awake tonight.
How could they fall asleep after eight days of rest?
8 days of rust.
Oh yeah! My bad!
It must have been jet-lag.
Hopefully the Rockies will do better, though I'm not rooting for them.
The Rockies got 7" of snow last week and had to practice inside all week.........maybe thats whats wrong. Really glad B.R.S. won and hope they continue to do so!
I wake up in the middle of the night and flick the channels. I don't watch sports at all but I am sick of watching the fires in CA, even though my heart goes out to them and their animals. Nothing good on to speak of.
Here is the good part. My DH wakes up and is watching it also. He thought there was only 7 innings. I said no there is 9. OH OK........... Then I said it will be done if they throw 1 more of those balls. He says what balls? I said the good ball is a strike and the other ones are...yummmmmmm......... The ones that go out there, the ones that are not a strike - The bad balls. He goes OH OK. Good IQ's on baseball. Still don't know what they are call that are not a strike.
If it's not a strike it's a ball, or a hit!
Yeah, I liked getting a home run with the first at bat. Way to start the World Series! And I liked the guy who was pitching for the other team at first. That's my idea of cute. Of course, there are a lot of other requirements for the ideal male besides cute, and in fact, far more important and enduring than cute. My DH has most of them!
Anyone else remember the Old Soupy Sales line about taking his girlfriend to the baseball game?
Soupy Sales? I remember Abbot + Costello and The Electric company! PBS show designed as a follow-up to Sesame Street, any one else remember that? "JJ to Brenda to Hank, being utterly brutally frank, we're the trio the team has to thank/ for its fame, and we're also the reason... they've lost every game!"
x, C
Old enough, Dave, but never liked Soupy Sales so I don't recall the gag.
Mike Lowell ... my kinda man!
Saw a bumper sticker today ... "It ain't over until Big Papi swings", although he really hasn't been doing too well of late. And what's this with him possibly playing frist on Saturday?? Bad idea, in my humble opinion.
Wasn't the Electric Co. the first kid show Bill Cosby was involved in?
Dunno about Cosby, but Morgan Freeman was "Easy Reader."
And remember the detective Fargo North, Decoder? i don't know HOW old i was when i got that joke...
anyone else remember:
"Who is it?"
"It's the plumber. I've come to fix the sink."
Yes, it was Cos and Morgan on the Electric Co.
I remember the Electric Slide
I loved the Electric Co., Sesame Street and Schoolhouse Rock.
I loved Schoolhouse Rock, and can still remember some of the jingles.
"Verb"
"Adjectives"
"Bill"
I bought the dvd for my kids.
I loved and still do, 'The Magic School Bus'. I think it is one of those show that is actually benifical for children to watch,
Schoolhouse Rocked!!
I liked all mentioned. They made watching those shows with your kids bearable and taught the kids a lot. I liked magic school bus too.
I like kids shows with inside jokes for the parents. Hate insipid, silly shows like "Care Bears" and "Strawberry Shortcake" - I made DH take the girls to the theatre to watch these movies - told him it was "quality time" between a Dad and his daughters. Not a chance I was going to suffer through them lol
I loved the Rugrats.
interplanet janet she's a galaxy girl
an interstellar miss from another world
she travels like a rocket with her cosmic team
and there's never been a planet janet hasn't seen
Conjunction-junction, what's your function? Yes! I loved 'em all. Schoolhouse Rock, Sesame Street, Electric Company. Never let my son watch Barney. He hated it anyway.
So Dave, what about Soupy Sales taking his girl to the game?
anyone seen a show called Pinky Dinky Doo?
she has a pet guinea pig named Mr. Guinea Pig who plays the trumpet.
Yes, my little gut watched Pinky. Cool show. And Captain Kangaroo and Wonderama on Sundays.
i get a little gut if i watch too much tv too.
: (
Pinky and the Brain I watched, and Dangermouse.
i watch pinky dinky doo in espaņol on univision. i have never seen it in english!
I watch some Univision, mainly for the wardrobes.
Or lack thereof.
You're right, anyone can appreciate what's there - not many can visualize what isn't there.
Absolutely - I think women should dress skimpier simply to help men develop their visualization / imagination skills. Is that asking much??
Not at all. Less fabric would also save the senseless destruction of the spandex forests.
I've started a local 'Save the Spandex' chapter. I'm sure you have as well. Think global, act loco.
You guys really have a way with words!!
