HOT OFF THE PRESS! Pictures from 10.06.07 RoundUp

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

there's plenty of pain and suffering for all of us Mets fans to share.
(i like that the Mets sent out an e-mail apologizing last monday!)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I saw that. They should lower the ticket prices!

(Zone 4a)

Actually I thought he would be wearing glasses and half bald by now!!! But actually he isn't bad looking for what I pictured! LOL

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

If you need any more 'Always Afternoon' let me know, they will be yours. As for repeat blooming whites...hmm...
'Nanuq' 'Freedom Dove' 'Gentle Manners'
If no one has the colors that you are looking for, to donate them to you...check out the following:
Klehm's Song Sparrow...a bit high end, but will usually have a little of everything
Oakes Daylilies...you can get some of the more common daylilies for 5.95 each
Gilbert H. Wild and Sons...you can get just about everything, for next to nothing...smaller clumps...but worth the price.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

DAWN!!!
So you thought I was dumber & uglier!?

Amy, I don't recognize your plant. If Thom doesn't, it narrows it down quite a bit. From Carrie?

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi everyone.... such a tough day... just now I am coming to check on you guys!!!!

so glad everyone had a great time... my pleasure to meet all of you!!!!!

Is it to early to plan for next spring??? LOL!!!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Michaela, I was going to suggest Gilbert H Wild. I just got a shipment. As Thom said, they are small, but if you watch their sales, very often you can get the more common varieties for $1-2. And they are almost always having a sale.

I am particularly jealous of those of you who bought a desert rose. I started one from seed last winter. It's doing well. About 4" tall now. I figure I'll have blooms in about 10 years LOL

(Zone 4a)

Hahaha no Dave. I was just playing around.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey Dawn! Bald is beautiful.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

The RU cost us the #1 postings for the week! We need Blackberries (the PDA) to keep up with games!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Not Blackberries (the lily)?

North Augusta, ON

mmmmmm.....Blackberry wine.....

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Just like Kassia, I can't wait for the next Round Up!!
Maybe we can have several different ones in different locations so that more 'local' DGers can enjoy a Round Up. Whaddya all think??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I suggest continuing the big NE RU at a convenient central location - twice a year if possible. In addition, more local ones can be done to include more people who can't make the big ones. I have already suggested a NYC area one.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I'm in for the NYC roundup.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yes, that does sound better, Victor. More 'us', than localities.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Quoting:
The more I read, the more I'm saddened that I could not make it.

I'm with you on this Victor. I wish, I had been able to go as well.
Don, that is a lovely poem. Very nice pics everyone.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

NYC area sounds good - somewhere with parking!
i went to the NY Botanical Gardens in the Bronx for my birthday - it was really nice (but like $10 or $15).
i would love to do more area mini-RUs.

I wish EVERYONE could have been there, too! Perhaps next time.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Does anyone remember just how many people were at the restaurant? I try remembering the names, and I keep coming up with a different number each time!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I think that the final count was 14. CapeCod would know as she had the calculator.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

That's right! She surely did have that good ole calculator with her!!

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

There were 14 folks there. I don't care where the NE Forum's next RU is going to be, not being apathetic, I'd go anywhere. If it's in NYC, then Paul and I can make a mini vacay, and see a show, etc...You guys and gals are a great group...so Large RU's, mini RU's, I'd travel just to go...!!!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Terrific - 'cause we think you and Paul are great!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I second that!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Day off today. (Columbus) I did a lot of gardening. This is a great time to move things because you can see the problems (unlike spring).
Most importantly I put in plants given by Thom, Harper, Don, Michaela, Amy and rooting a cutting from Carrie. Thanks again!(Thanks to those of you who gave seeds too!)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I can't remember what the other little plant is that got potted with the tiny little coleus. Whoever potted up the coleus with and other plant in a terra cotta plant, would you please let me know what the other plant is? Was that you, Don?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i had a tiny little black dragon coleus potted with a nana coreopsis, which went to someone, but i thought mine was in a plastic pot.

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

I had the calculator and I divided the restaurant bill by 14--not that that means that there actually WERE 14 folks there, but that's what Dave told me to do! (I will always mind Dave.)
Incidentally, I thought that the choice of restaurant was great and whoever suggested it deserves kudos. Wish I could remember who it was. . . think it was Dave?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

No it was Don. But I appreciate your obedience!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Amy, you are right!
It is in a little plastic pot. So THAT'S what it is!!! Thanks for the info.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Me, Kirstie, Dave, Don, Thom, Paul, kassia, Candyce, Anna, Emily, Michaela, Harper, Amy, Memory equals fourteen! I'm not sure I got the order perfect but that's who was there. (I DON'T have a good head for names; I looked at the pictures.) I do remember counting because we were about to divide the check by 13 or maybe 15 at the, er, dice-rolling moment, lol.

Amy, might that be Sweet Autumn Clematis from me? If so, I don't know how to root it, which is why i didn't bring rooted cuttings! I got rid of everything i brought.

I am a bad mother; when we got home Saturday, I just stuck my box of goodies outside and went to bed. There was also a box, with a houseplant cutting in it from a DG person, outside when we got home. Then, because I am a Good Mother, I got up VERY early Sunday and flew with my little family down to DC, looked at George Mason University with my daughter, and got home VERY late last night. (Rain and fog up here caused ground delays, which means waiting in the terminal in DC for us to be able to land in Logan.) This morning we had to call the plumber to turn on the heat!

xx, Carrie

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

My goodness, Carrie! It's only Tuesday and you have already had such a busy week! Remember to take good care of yourself, too!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yup, that's always been my problem. I'm glad I chose NOT to go to Logee's. Then I would have been totally exhausted, lol.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Logee's is not wheelchair accessable - it is hardly more than one person at a time accessable on foot! So you are probably better with their catalog, anyway.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Actually I'm not really into those kinds of tropical plants. Except the lemon trees... I've always wanted one... but I used to grow them from lemon seeds - indoors, in paper cups, before they invented seedless stuff that doesn't germinate. But I never got a lemon, lol!

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

By a great effort of will, I restricted myself to just one plant--a Desert Rose adenium.
When I reached the checkout counter, two other RU'ers had bought the same plant. Great gardeners weed in the same bed?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Don, clearly , you're correct!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Absolutely!
Don ~ I saw that plant and wanted it, until I remembered that my cats would probably eat it!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, I got one!!!! could not resist!
