Me too, Victor..........what an awesome group of people to know!! Can't wait til I can go too!
HOT OFF THE PRESS! Pictures from 10.06.07 RoundUp
I wish you guys could have been there, too. And Allison, and ... oh, the list is just too long!
How much time were you at the restaurant and at Logee's?
Gosh! We were at the restaurant for almost three hours, I think. There was so much to talk about!!! And I think most everyone spent perhaps an hour and a half, if not more at Logees. Anna and I were just wiped out from the heat and humidity, so we missed out on the group shot, leaving a bit earlier than most of the others.
Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Wish I coulda bin there.
You should think of the Violet Barn as the spring destination.....only 3 and a half hours from here.... :)))
OK everyone! Get your passports ready!!
3G, great idea! The Violet Barn is wonderful if you like gesneriads. Rob is a genius with AV's. I have some of his mini's. His mom, Olive, kind of runs the store. And he's also somewhat of a rare houseplant collector. I have a Pentadinia orientandina and a Dalbergaria sanguinea that I bought from his web site this year along with the AV's. He sells some of his 'odd' plants as monthly specials.

The Finger Lakes is beautiful place to visit and we could probably fit in a wine tour. I might actually be able to make it. Think about it :0)
ps the pentadinia makes these pretty pink 'eggs'. I told my granddaughters this is where Easter eggs REALLY come from
I have been dying to go there....I have their website in my Favs...but 40 dollars for shipping, plus the phyto is not doable....If I went there it would just be the phyto!!!
It is still in NY.....
please, anyone i got plants from yesterday, check out this thread and tell me if you recognize any of the 3 pics. i think the one in the pot is blackberry, but the other 2 i've no idea...
sorry/thanks!

Candyce - I think it would be AWESOME if you and other DG people could help out. First things first, though. I need to get some general concensus from the neighbourhood to okay this before I start tearing up the terrace. If I can't do the garden exactly as planned, I will tear out the existing fountain garden (have an okay on this) and replant it.
The plan calls for the following daylilies - 3 Happy Returns (got one so far!)
- 7 stella d'oro - got these already
- 3 Kwansa - got one already
- 6 Always Afternoon - got 2 yesterday
- 9 Joan Senior - white rebloomer available from Springhill (or can you
suggest another white rebloomer?)
I honestly think it will take 3 years to have the garden look like much - mostly because sooo many plants will be babies and need three years to mature.
Assuming I get an okay - ground has to be cleared, tilled, soil improved, pathways dug, sides of elevated beds reinforced, before we can start planting in May.
I loved Dave47's idea about using tracing paper to list which plants will bloom during which season. So more work to do. :-)
Wouldn't it be coool to build a park?

There are so many garden planning programs now, I would search for some free ones. Would make it much easier. Many (maybe not the free ones) let you superimpose various plants on a photo of the area. Better ones show you how it will look through the seasons and over the years.
The enthusiasm and interest of this group is so great, along with the ideas and brainstorming. That's why I love this forum!!
Michaela, are you considering any shrubs in your latest revision?
There are only 4 shrubs because I either have to buy these myself or figure some way to raise the money; I am trying to keep all the plant costs to less than $400 - so obviously I have to start as many of these plants as I can, beg for others, and finally, buy the rest.
Two suggestions. One - hold a fund raiser to raise money for the project. Two, and I may have suggested this in the past, ask nurseries to donate plants in exchange for a sign / tag / plaque, etc., acknowledging their generosity.
And of course, offer one full letter grade upgrade to any of your students who helps out!
Michaela - when you get ready to buy the shrubs, etc., you should let us know. I'm sure you will get some donations from interested NE gardeners!
I second that
hey, you're still up, Candyce??? LOL
Very funny, Louise! *smile*
I actually took a nap this afternoon - so there!!
When do you head back to FL?
Too soon, Candyce! Now that our string of guests has ended, I've got to get hustling here. We've been so busy enjoying the company, the list of close-up, pack up chores has grown and grown and now I'm starting to wonder how it can happen!!! Eek!
Glad you got a nap in.......did Little Miss M nap too?
Little Miss "M" took a long nap, after which she promptly made her mommy and daddy cry by taking her first real steps all on her own. She actually walked so much by herself today that she made herself a very tired little girl, and went to bed an hour earlier than normal.
Isn't it odd that they can be babies one minute and the next minute they are toddlers?
Is anyone else allowed in this conversation??
Hee hee.
Always, Victor....what would you like to chat about???? Did you get your nap today??? I did not, so I'm about to call it a day........how about you?
Yes, Victor - of course. Speak on!!!
Watching the Yankees now. Kids are still up - no school tomorrow. They'll be off to bed any minute now.
Victor.........are you there???? Cat got your tongue??? Intimidated by two jabbering women?? I can't imagine that.......LOL Did you get sent to solitary???
I changed the channel on the Yankees.
They're winning 8-3.
Ugh!!!!!
So, then. I am off to my room where ther is no computer, but there is a TV.
(8-3!!!! Sheesh!! Do they think they are actually going to save Torre's job?)
Sounds like a BoSox fan.

Probably! Until they finally won in 2004, there were plenty of wrinkles waiting for a champion at Fenway. My Mets caused quite a few more.
Candyce is it no fair that kids grow up so fast - because from what I have heard you would rather they be babies than teens LOL I have 2. Now ages 2 and 4 wohoo!! NOT!!! Kidding I actually love it!
I think Dave looks way smarter than I figured! LOL Sorry Dave but that is a compliment! Didn't you guys feel like Dave was trying to figure you guys out since he is a therapist?? LOL!
I think Dave is still trying to figure himself out. So Dawn, how did you imagine he would look??!!
My Mets
Our Mets, please...
(Blue Jays fan)

Oops - sorry for the possessive, Amy!
