At the far end of the field is this one tree in color.
Fall Color 2
Great shots Celeste! Isn't this late for you? CT - Hartford area had nothing!
Nope.....just about right really. We usually have peak around the middle of Oct. Up North from me is peak/past peak right now and we are just about entering full peak. I hope to get down to the lake this week and take some pictures before it's gone.
Take a peek at the peak!
Victor, Were you in CT?
Celeste - I really enjoyed the photos your guys took! The golden eagle is so awesome! What a magnificent bird to see that way! I'm so glad your DH had a wonderful day.......much needed, I'm sure!!
Debilu - enjoyed your photos too....what can be prettier than the blue of the water and the color in the trees now?
Bebop - you've done it again.....that is a spectacular shot!
We took our 5-year-old grandson out for his birthday adventure today and drove through some beautiful country. Here is one shot we loved.....
Yes Dave - only for two days. Stayed one night in E. Hartford, visited my HS English teacher friend in Meriden yesterday, stayed overnight in Hamden and came home this AM. We planned on hiking in Sleeping Giant Park this morning, but we were all tired.
Sleeping Giant is not far from me. On behalf of my state, I apologize for not having any color for you.
I've never vacationed in East Hartford.
Accepted. I expect better next time! Actually, I was not surprised. I knew it was a bit early but it was the only weekend we could do it. We only went to E. Hartford because there was a Holiday Inn there and thought we'd use it as a jumping off point. We jumped.
Nice reflection though. Eleanor - what was the final number of t-shirts sold?
The water reflections make it anything but dull. Very lovely photo!
Thanks for the comments. Victor - a total of 21 shirts have been sold. Eleanor
I hope that the sales aren't over. I still haven't gotten mine for Anna or myself!! Don't close it yet, please!!
Candyce - sales are still open. In fact I don't even know how to close it and stop sales. I don't see any need to stop selling T-shirts in the near future. Eleanor
That makes me feel so much better, Eleanor. Thank you for letting me know.
I wasn't part of this group when you were talking about the T-shirts. How do I buy one?
bebop2 check this thread. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/768051/
Love all the fall scenery everyone. Nothing like water to make a pic special, you are lucky to have such a wonderful view Eleanor, thanks all for sharing and keep up the good work. Soon the colors around the NE will be very limited so get 'em while you can. . :)
Hardly started yet here.
Be patient, Victor........it'll be coming your way soon!
Candyce - do you have peak color yet? I think it's just becoming peak here. We were in Conn. yesterday all day, and there wasn't much color there yet. No leaves have fallen yet at my son's house.
Oh yes, Louise. We have peak and past peak ... and all gone!! It depends on where you look. There are so many leaves already on the ground!!
Is this the latest ever or is it me? Both?
Yes, this is the latest you've ever been, Dave.
I was noticing so much green still, and it's Oct 17th already!
Yes, seriously, it does seem late to me. I have hardly anything here. Odd thing is, I had some individual leaves and small shrubs start to show about five weeks ago! It's as if everything froze. Guess the warm weather.
Our color arrived right on schedule.
It usually peaks around the 12th to the 18th ... right in time for college homecoming.
Have your temps been normal Candyce?
No. The temperatures have been five to ten to even fifteen degrees above normal for most of October so far. And, it looks like this week will be no different. It'll be in the low to mid-seventies for crying out loud!
But, a couple of days last week were rather chilly, and with the frost, that helped the colors come along.
Well I've been blaming our late colors on our warmer temps, but that hasn't been the case for you.
All of the sudden the trees on the canal in back of my house have turned a bright golden yellow. My camera just doesn't seem to be able to do justice to the brillance of the color - this was also taken on a cloudy day (that's all we've had this week) and I don't know if it would be better on a sunny day. Eleanor
Eleanor:
Nice shot of color there! Isn't it great how the trees can just 'switch on' their autumn finery?
