Debilu, the cookies are beautiful.
Fall Color 2
Great shot bebop.
So striking, bebop2!!
Thats a lovely photo bebop! Beautiful colors!!!!
bebop - yes that is a blue spruce in my photo. Your colors are so bright!!! They are beautiful! We have a lot pretty colored leaves on the ground so I arranged some of them and took a photo for my desktop!! I think someone else took a pic of arranged leaves and I thought it wouild make the perfect desktop for my computer. Eleanor
Eleanor, that is a beautiful pattern. It would have been perfect for one of the T-shirts.
Deb - those cookies are gorgeous! Do they taste as great as they look?? What is sister day?? My sisters and I do "Sisterfest" weekends together every couple of years in some location....we're overdue now.....Is your sister day something similar?
Eleanor and Bebop - I am with you....the contrast of the evergreens and the deciduous color is the prettiest part of the fall foliage to me! Just this morning, I was saying to my DH on our walk how gorgeous the hemlocks and maples look together!
No matter how many years I've seen the foliage, my mouth drops open every year when the beauty of it all assaults me in such a lovely way. I could never go south until after the leaves have fallen! In an earlier part of this thread, some of you were talking about waxing the leaves. I collected a bunch of them on our walk and am going to try the waxed paper deal so I can take some down to show my Fla. native friends.
Maria - nice shot in your backyard!!
Bebop - that shot is quintessential and perfect!! Wow!
Eleanor - that melange of leaves for your desktop background is really lovely! I think I'll do the same thing! I like the way you overlapped them so haphazardly. Nice!
Oh, I think you got it just perfect that time, Eleanor!!!
Thanks Donnie, but it still isn't quite the same!! Eleanor
donnie - those are beautiful. What an awesome view to have!! Eleanor
Louise that is a beautiful picture!! It reminds me of the camp road to my Grandparents. Fond memories!
Eleanor, Louise and Maria - great shots! Nice to see you again Maria. I believe I may have asked you to post a photo of your visitors. Thanks.
I completely agree about the conifers with the colored leaves. I put one of my favorite shots of a maple leaf which had fallen onto my Blue Spruce in the contest.
Louise - let us know how the waxing comes out. I want to try some using the microwave as well.
How does one preserve the leaves using a microwave, Victor?
Here are a few methods, including the microwave.

That's a great link, Victor. Thanks so much. We have some interesting leaves around here right now, and I'd love to try drying them like that.
Love all he photos - saw a lot of color change today on the drive to Canastota. I didn't get any pics though.
Donnie - sister day is a day when my 4 sisters and I get together for the day, and just eat, drink and laugh. Sometimes we plan a walk in the park, etc, but sometimes we have no plans and just laugh. We get together every month or two. It's good therapy and a lot of fun.

That sounds nice Deb.
Thanks everybody! Victor - I tried the waxed paper method and thought I did fine, but in reading your link, I guess I shouldn't have taken the leaves out of the waxed paper!! LOL I peeled the paper right off and thought the wax was on the leaves. They seemed waxy, but I don't think I did it right.
Deb - your Sister Day sounds like fun. Because we live far apart, we have to turn it into a few days, but basically we do what you do. I wish we could do it more often.
Here is a shot from our walk this morning.
DonnieBrook, that is lovely. What's the body of water?
Donnie - love the pics. Beautiful scenery!! Eleanor
Nice shots Louise. I had a great hike this AM. Great view of the Hudson. I'll try to post some pics but I'm still on my backup computer.
Started a new thread. Come here with your great Fall pics!

Thanks, Eleanor and Victor! It's so pretty now - nature gets all the credit!!
Louise, Beautiful! I want to live in those pictures.
How would you get your mail, Dave?
c/o louise
I'd love to have you as a neighbor, Dave!!
Hello everyone - from Harrisonburg, VA in a hotel with wireless internet! We drove through some pretty fall scenery today - about 10 hours of it! Much of what we drove through in the Shenandoah Valley was peak color. Tomorrow we will go through some of the Smokey Mountains and end up in Sweetwater, TN for the night - after meeting friends for dinner nearby. I'm pooped........signing off for now!
Hi Louise! Enjoy the rest of the trip.
Thanks, Victor! I thought of you today when we crossed the Hudson! And I thought of Thom when we went through Scranton. Jeez - I had pals all along the way! It rained a lot of the day.....was it raining at your house, Victor? And by the way, is that Sing Sing on both sides of I-84?? That place is really big! I was looking for a big C on one of the walls, but the sproingy fence got in the way.
Louise, that sounds like a nice trip. You taking vacation or going to winter home or both?
A little bit of both, Dave. We decided to see a couple of friends on the way down. We don't like the frenetic pace of the NY - Washington corridor, so we take I-81 down instead. After our Sweetwater, TN stop, we'll go to Chattanooga and then Cumming, Ga. to visit my childhood best friend for lunch and then end up in the Macon, Ga. area for the night. It will be a bit of a long day on Sunday, but we'll end up at our Fla. house that night. My DH starts shaking when we get anywhere near Tennessee because he can't understand the southern accents and he freaks out in restaurants trying to answer the waitresses' questions. I usually have to order for him. He gets the strangest look of panic on his face when they head to our table. Let's hope he can handle spending so many hours there this time! LOL
*sigh*
wish i was going to tennessee.
Louise I get the same way with people from the Bronx. No, Sing Sing is in Ossining in Westchester County - nowhere near 84.
OMG Louise - you're only an hour north of me!!! Was wondering which way you traveled - 81 can be a real @%$&* with all the tractor trailers, but the "valley" sure is beautiful! Be sure to wave when you go by the Lexington exit :)
Debbie
