Mushrooms are scary. My friend is an expert in the field (mycologist).
Fall Color 2
I can't believe she ate it out of the blue! Must of had a pleasant smell to that one or something. Glad she didn't get sick, could of been bad!!
My friend's dog ate a bunch of them one time. Of course he waited to be inside to vomit all over.
I think the prednisone she's on is the culprit. It was scary alright! I saw some bright red ones on our walk yesterday (without Molly) and I KNOW their dangerous ones.
Pouring here now.......can't believe I still have an internet connection!
Very nice Deb.
Looks like a mowed field to me - not wood.
Deb, by any chance did you drive through the Rangely area or Canton, Maine? There are a lot of fields that look like that in that area and also the Aroostook County area.
I think we were south of Rangely, we drove from Millinocket to Phillips. I wanted to see Moosehead Lake, but DH didn't want to take the private roads.
Thanks to both of you, I was trying to figure out what the ripples were, and we have a lot of oak furniture, and the wood grain was all I could think of.
Looks pretty good to me! Here's a quick search result.

Venu - yours look much better than mine and one field of mine looks awful compared to the other. Victor's link was very helpful talking about constant moisture and adding organic matter to the soil. I'll do just that. The area where they grow poorly is too carefully tended and this plant doesn't want that.
There's also someone at DG who has a thread on Aconitum. If I find it I'll post it.

Here are all the threads listed under Aconitum and the first two (as of this time) are the ones you might enjoy.
Wow! That 'Tiger Eyes' lights up the area!
Thanks - I'm very happy with it so far.
Deb - those are beautiful fall shots! I think we are close to peak here now. On Monday we drove one town away to do grocery shopping and the color there was spectacular. It's still a bit muted here on our hill, but driving home from car servicing and a thousand errands today, I noticed a lot more yellow everywhere. We have leaves covering everything also. With more rain again today, it hasn't been the right time for taking any pics yet.
Venu - that's a very unusual plant........nice pic!!
Victor - I have never seen the Tiger Eyes sumac before. The only ones we've had just turned bright red. Yours is very pretty!
Thanks Victor and Pirl. I think I have it in a spot with too much shade, but evidently they don't like to be moved. A gardening conundrum.
My experience is that they absolutely abhor being moved. I did it once and they refused to bloom the following year.
Good information to know. Thanks again, pirl.
I posted a photo of one I don't remember planting on 'Bloomers'. I'm very happy with it. I'll have to add more.
Where the heck did you visit, ngam?
I love the composition of the third one with its 5 distinct horizontal lines of color.
Looks like it may have been in the White Mountains area.
It is a beautiful place. It is up near Grafton. His place is across from Ruggles Mine, at least I think that is the name of it. He has an observation room at the top with windows 360 to look out over the whole darn valley. Unbelievable views.

Gorgeous ngam! You picked the perfect time to be there.
Next time I'm up in that neck of the woods ... (which is just about once every ten years or so) ... I'll have to find that awesome view!!
*I really must get out more!*
Ngam - those are beautiful photos! You must have had a wonderful fall foliage experience all the way around. And what a gorgeous view your brother has!!
ngam, those are beautiful shots!! I can see why he lives there, and I think I would be visiting him more often than he cared for if i was his sister! LOL
I went for a ride yesterday on the country roads near my house. Big brother wanted me to go check out a house for him, he wants to move closer to me. I love the idea that I won't have to travel 2 hours to see him anymore, but I will miss the view he has. It is much like ngams brother's veiw, mountains all around.
Driving down the road @ 45mph and snapping pictures does not make for a safe ride and I don't recomend it! However I found myself singing John Denver's "Country Roads, take me home".....
