love the mantis too, told mantis eating sibling stories at work today to the disbelief of my audience
What's blooming? #16
Do they have another name? Gazanias, I mean. I love them too.
pretty asters Carrie
I don't know Carrie - there are a million blue/violet ones.
Victor - did you buy that mantis at Andy's yard sale?
Yup, Al, that's kinda what I figured. I think we saw a pretty one at HD for three separate years - and said "oh, that's pretty, like the one at home. Let's put it on the OTHER side too." Now we have these three different, pretty, separate but equal blue-purple asters.
Now I really can't wait for next year! If you're still getting all those blooms this late in the season, I am hoping that we will as well!
Beautiful ... simply beautiful.
Yes, still looking good Celeste!
Thank you both, but I can't take credit....Mother Nature is being nice this fall!!
She is, isn't she?
I hope I can get outside while the little one is napping and get some photos of what's still blooming in our gardens.
This weekend, after RU of course, I know that I will have to take a few more 'mapping' photos, as everything has changed or been changed since the beginning of the season. Ah, the challenges!!!!
I have been off line for a few days and have a lot of catching up to do, great pics of mantis, asters roses and everything.
Welcome back, ngam. I had wondered where you were.
Anita, I've missed your collages. that's a nice one! terrific pic of the dragonfly!!
Sandy, doesn't matter what you call that rose...it's gorgeous!
Eleanor, your beach pic proves how tough those old rugosa roses are. I would love to be on the beach this time of year.
Al, I like your Bluebird aster and the flax, too
Victor, I'm jealous of your mantis. have never seen one in my garden. I'm trying to be 'more' organic. that is more careful not to use any chemicals, although I've always tried to avoid them. maybe someday... but I know all of my neighbors spray. and it probably drifts.
pixie, the color on Night Dreams is fantabulous
Eleanor, I'll have to think about Endless Summer. it looks so nice. the red mini rose is so pretty!
Carrie, I like all of your asters :)
My one and only hollyhock has reached the top bloom
Beautiful pics Jan. I do use chemicals sometimes but when I do I try to use the least toxic one to do the job. Also, spot treatments are much better than systemic approaches - like using lawn fertilizers that contain herbicides and pesticides. That ends up everywhere, including the water supply.
thanks, Victor. amen to that. it's the lawn stuff that's the worst because everybody does their lawn.
