LOL...I've seen a lot of people do the Crystal Light but can't do artificial sweet myself.
and just to let you know, I got into "the jeans" but my waist still hung out over the top....lol...still have to take pride in the small victories, I couldn't get my legs into them a few months ago...lol. It's good to have little stuff like that to challenge you.
But I'm not throwing out those bigger pants. I need to have those comfort zones for the, "and I don't care either!" times..lol
Best/worse thing &what did you learn today? Pt.16-friends...
You are making me laugh Trop...the other day when is was cooler I dressed for fall, felt like the goodyear blimp..not looking forward to that heavy clothing..adds pounds...so, better get serious about this weight loss thing..worse thing...
yeah, for me I end up buying snug fitting stuff for winter (it's warmer) and looser stuff for summer. You have to find something you LIKE for exercise though, I really like cardio-kickboxing and tae bo
Organizing myself..doing some line dancing again..taught it for a few years..amazing how much I forgot!!my problem is finding something to eat that's suitable...
Can't eat Beef beause of mad cow disease....
Can't eat chicken because of bird flu
Can't eat eggs because of salmonella
Can't eat pork for fear of trichinosis...
Can't eat fishbecause heavy metals in the waters has poisoned their meat
Can't eat fruits and veggies because of the insecticides and herbicides
Hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess the only thing left is chocolate... lol
LOL, just wash the veggies and you're okay....being a vegetarian though, I can see no problem witth the all chocolate diet...but coffee and whipped cream do need to be included, as they are fundamental staples :)
Well Hello there!
Decided I'll not wait to get a minute and take it. Worked enough over schedual so...Here I am. First things first.
Thank you all on caring for our well being. This has been one heck of a couple of weeks. The car accident just topped the cake. Friday as you know was the accident. So that day spent on the phone with insurance, docs, and get somewhat of rest. Satuday and Sunday we a feeling the aches and pains. Thank God no one was hurt badly, just a little banged up...The week has been busy talking to insurance people and getting re-caught up on the job front. Today I am in a good position. They-estimated the damage to my once beautiful car as totalled. So signed the title and gave it a kiss goodbye. I've fond memories of my RC Cola blue PT Cruiser.I am just a tad sentimental, which is a bit nuts, but it was "MY" very first brand new vehicle all in my name...So, as we spoke lat night, All things happen for a reason. We'll get it figured out. Now I am thinking about a mini van...and after the events of the week taking public transportation, I am not caring much what kind, just need a good set of wheels to get us around. Funny how much one takes for granted-even the simplest of things. So thats the story on that, you know what other really dumb thing I thought of?...I never took a picture of her, and I am photo nut!!
Ok so...here's my other crisis...A couple of weeks ago my credit card got shut off and we had a message on the phone to call CC fraud line! I called this number that was left and turns out that someone has stolen my # and has been just so happy to purchase over $2,000 worth of merchandise! So, the really bad thing is I have to pay it in full or my credit will be marked bad! This is the most frustrating and irritating thing that has happened. The worst thing is the lady said the purchases have been scanned (the card), i said well i don't know how that is as i am holding my card in my hand as we speak! Very scarey as how this is happeneing. So, dealing with that issue and trying to stay afloat.
Meantime...Breenie-taking a photography course at school, needs 35mm film camera, took mine in and discovered can't be fixed...big big bummer, So now we are in a major hunt for this piece of equipment which is extinct! Finally, get a hold on one and now we are on a mad hunt for a battery! got to shake my head, Finally find one and since the poor kid is now trying to make up for two missed assignments...I ve got a camera pointed in my direction everytime I turn around!...LOL guess it serves me right for all the photos I shot of her huh. so that stroy turned out to be ok, now it is a costly hobby, made a mental notes...no more photography classes-LOL
So on the work front business picked up for me from absolutley nothing to I am drowning in paper! Got everthing mostly caught up. Right where i was last week thursday, feeling good a bout that which was the same last week. So-remeber last thursday, I stayed a bit longer so I could post, I was glad got home at 6:30 which really isn't that late. I walk in the door all Happy as could be-the family in the kitchen talking, There is DH turns around all dressed up-He's all serious and wants to know why I am so late-forget trying to tell him anything at this point...Everybody in an uproar at my lateness, what the heck is going on? Hurry up I am told we are late! Huh, what's the matter? why are you all dressed up? Get changed he says we have 7 p.m. reservations for dinner downtown! So I hurry up quick change and gussy up- Driving like a mad man, I hanging on for dear life...what is world are we doing?? He says, your never late, I wanted to suprise you...Ok I am suprised alright! This gets better, we are only 15 minutes late for dinner at our favorites place...The House of Blues-Downtown Chicago!
Now in case you don't know of it...It is also a music hall...now I am most excited because who is playing? None other than my all time favorite- REO Speedwagon!! with reserved seats right at the banister not 20 feet away from the stage!! Oh, I was certainly walking on air. What a night to remember-We were actually celebrating our 27th anniversary-the day of our meeting. That isn't until october but this just happened to be when REO was in Illinois. Turned out it was a one night benefit. All proceeds gone to the Childrens Cancer Hospital.
Ok so when it rains it pours, good and bad...Julia's car also decides to break down-Fortunatley it happened while she was at a stop...bummer she and her friend had to push her car to a parking lot! Still waiting to hear the damage on that...So we are all grounded and DH playing choifurre(?)...meantime, Jacob misses his school bus and no one can pick him up, so we call the neighbor and ask if could please pick him up at the school. I tell you, this kids everyone in the n-hood favorite. No problem...not only did the husband go for him the wife did too!
Guess they got who was doing what mixed up. They giggled about it and Jake was ever so greatful. Us too, will have to pass over some more flowers! Very nice people they are.
...so you are now caught up with my marvelous Best, Worst and what did I learn?
Be grateful for seatbelt and life. Don't sweat the small stuff. How i missed you all. and Public Trans is great for reading but never rely on it for timing.
I have read the posts, will skim them over again so i can make a post-
in the meantime i hope you are all having a great day...
be back after lunch.
Judy
Judy how wonderful to see you post..you are right, all these other difficulties are 'small'stuff in comparison to what could have happened to you and your family...can't believe they'd make you pay the c.c. when it was the fraud dept. calling you...omg..will say a prayer that things improve...when you are in trouble that's when you know how great your neighbors are...they come to your rescue...
Love pt cruisers, how sad for you..well you can remember the good times with her..sounds like you are always on the go and with travelling to the cottage maybe a minivan will suit your needs better...
How exciting was that to get to go to the club and see your favorite band...you are being spoilt..lol....
Just got back from lunch and Paul (BIL) sent me an e-mail and said to enjoy a 3 day weekend..take Friday off and enjoy...wow..so another hour and 45 minutes and that's it for this week..must be because of how hard I work..now I'm really laughing...
Judy, thinking of our 'meet-up' in Florida...thought besides the money I have set aside for my trip it might be nice with the exchange being as it is to pick up $100.00 each week..so at lunch I got my 1st week lot..it cost me $102.49...usually for $100.00 it's usually almost half..so that's nice for us travelling in your country...figure if I do it every Thursday then I'll be way ahead of the game...e-mailed Jeff..reminded him of the discount rate and told him he might start thinking of purchasing US funds for his mother's Christmas gift...he replied 'cute MOM, real cute!' if you don't tell them what you want they won't know will they..I usually get a gift and money...it's a coming girls...
I met Suzanne in Barrie this morning, she left her car there and we drove in with mine as I want to do some shopping on the way home...a stop to Michaels for a few supplies, there is a decorating boutique which has a 'witch' that I think my deck asked me to pick up lol...oh yes, maybe I can fit in a few groceries..so am flying high right now...it's calling for the mid 80's for Fri/Sat.and Sun. so should be great..might even get a day of boating in...
evening all,
betty, omg the boxes came today beautiful, beautiful but one in each box broke but im happy to have two no complaints here!!!!!! gosh betty the detail is great the colors are lovely but thease must be put under glass the rest of the year there to beautiful to put away
i will treasure thease always thank you so much my treasured friend well now off to get a bite to eat will post later liz
Liz, can't understand why they broke..they were packaged in quite a strong box were they not? who knows, did it look like customs might have opened up the package..can't believe it..Laura got hers in Australia at the beginning of the week and all were in tack..they however didn't have to go through customs...now Susan 101 got hers as well..same type of box..she didn't say any were broken..guess its the luck of the draw..sorry girl....
hi betty, no the boxes were strong and the tape didnt look tampered but the boxes had been slightly dented on the sides guess it was enough pressure but im happy with what i had received omg my neighbor just scared the c--- out of me just now his son's birthday is today and we have a live mariache band going on i must of jumped a foot when all the music started lol well dinner ready i'll be back
So much fun to read all the posts I missed the last couple days or so (I admit to skimming a lot so apologize for not "getting" everything). I too miss everyone when I have to be away.
Betty, really? Do I get some, too? I am thrilled beyond thrilled!!!!!
That little Ella is adorable - absolutely precious!!!
Judy, thank God you are all okay - and what a sweet DH you have!!
Gitagal, hope you will stick with us . . . no one in this group would ever intentionally leave anyone out - and I am one who can't be here all the time so just try to catch up as best I can.
Well, I just have to include this photo of my little granddaughter (she obviously is "the best" and with that kind of "best" there is no "worst" and so that "is what I learned . . . " does that possibly make any sense???!!!). She was staring up at her mom (my DD) and the love just radiates. Babies are such incredible miracles.
evening all,
betty, wow that was a story i understand now, you are so lucky 3 days off its getting colder here now its almost time to plug back in the electric blanket and where the wind came from the last two days i havent a clue it was pretty strong calm now thank god.
how tall is the witch you bought for your deck?
tropicanna, i thought you were a tiny person from that picture you posted
judy, omg when it rains, i cant get over the credit card company thats just awful do you know how they could of gotten your number there is so much of that going on, it's scary public transit i have never done any of that boy would i be lost for sure hope you can get a vehicle soon, omg reo speedwagon i havent heard that name in a while now that sounds like you had a wonderful time, so nice to have neighbors there for you.
carol, she is sooooooo cute nice shot
best: getting those lovely ornaments
worst : its 7.48 and were going to retire shortly i hope this music stops soon
learned: we may loose our district manager now that will be sad he's a real nice guy his sister in law might get it and she's a to the book sort of person with a pushy attitude
everyone have a great evening liz
Morning.....Sailor must know I've the day off..she woke me up wanting me to play ball and just kept at it...oh well...didn't need to sleep in anyway..
Liz, when I got to the Boutique that had the witch and she's about 5' tall it was closed so in my shopping I bought a fogger and container of liquid..guess that's what makes the fog..so will try to get there next week at some point before they are sold out..hopefully...sorry about your district manager....maybe his sister will come around when she sees how you gals have everything under control..let's hope..was in bed by 9:30 last night..
Murmur..can't believe how she's grown...just the sweetest thing..bet you just love visiting and of course while you are there I doubt she's out of your arms your entire visit...
I'm just sitting here, waiting for daybreak...stays dark much later now...morning project will be to make a firepit..when I made the new garden it took in my other pit....with the winds this past weekend there are a lot of branches on the ground that need burning....so thought if I dig up a little area and put rocks around it..it would do..just hard to locate an area for it as I've so many trees..would hate to start a bush fire..lol..
Back later...hope you all enjoy the day!
morning all,
now betty dont set the place on fire lol i have two of those fog machines their so cool we have to stock pile on the fog juice cause we run them all through october and wouldnt you know i feel sick like im getting another sinus infection in my chest you would think i would go to the doctor but i took all the antibiotics i had stockpiled now i guess i jinxed myself i must need something stronger..... cant win
i hope the sister has calmed down to my boss said if she makes me change things to much im walking great just what we need no fearless leader so what plans have you today i bet sailor wants to play somemore ball
jeannine, we crossed posts lol
oh how lovely that one is i think that color combo is pretty, love bright and loud colors
anynew bite inthe job market?
The quilt Jeannine will look lovely in her room...does your machine have the capabiity of lowering the feed dogs so you can randomly quilt or do you quilt in the ditch? (quilting terminology girls) but I can imagine her sitting beside the road, in a ditch, sitting on a cot chair, quilting away lol...I'm trying to get things caught up as well..must finish the quilted sweater and purchased all that material for the other sweatshirt jacket and it's in the closet..who knows, maybe I'll get a burst of energy..this aft. I must go into Fabricland (your Joanne's) and pick up costume material..I keep forgetting, saying Caleb wants to be a crazy bear when all the time it's a crazy monkey....won't be many more years and that will be the end of Halloween costumes for the 4 of them...will be getting too old for that..
Liz...do you run the fogger every night or just on Halloween night? costly little containers aren't they..$11.98..not sure how long they last..can you give me a clue...for what purpose are yours running? Just so much fun having another halloween nut to play with...sorry you are catching something again..guess it's the change in the weather...
just went out to scout out the yard and the grass is so wet, came back in for an hour or so..just finished ironing first load of wash and sencond almost dry so pretty well all caught up...so am ahead of the game...
Talk later
Good Morning all,
Dropping in to say hi again. I have been looking after my grandaughters this week after school through till 10:00. We have been having fun baking cookies, banana bread, and driving to soccer, dance etc. Hayley's last soccer of the season was a game of parents against the kids..a short fun game...well I said I would try to play a bit...Whew..I felt it yesterday morning. Plus I got a ball kicked hard against my hand that sort of bent my finger a bit. It was fun though. Lots of laughs. When my kids were young I was always working till 7pm. so I missed a lot.
Yesterday I made the first batch of apple sauce and juice from my apple trees. The trees are loaded with apples. I don't spray or prune them.. Wish you could all come and take some away.
Murmur..your grandaughter is so sweet. Grandchildren are such fun..more time to really enjoy them now that I am not working.
Betty..I hope you have a wonderful day. I would love to meet you some day..as you say maybe next spring. I don't have your artist's talent or your drive but it sure is fun to read about all your adventures. The wether here has been wonderfulfully warm and clear. I love Sept. days..but also know soon it will be time to put the garden to rest and bring in all the plants that I try to save over the winter under lights in the basement.
Liz..such a shame that two of the ornaments were broken..but you will so enjoy the two that arrived safely. I smile when I think of all your Halloween decor. Americans seem to go all out for Halloween. I put up a few littel things but there aren't any young kids here in neighbourhood so I go to my daughter's on Halloween night.
This is a phtoo of my pumpkin I did for a contest at work a couple of years ago.
Cheers,
Carol
Liz, she can't go to work until she finishes all those craft projects...lol...
Morning Carol...come on girl, I saw photo's of your lovely garden..you are so imaginative and artistic...would die for a garden like yours...all those little room type areas...love the pumpkin..no wonder it took a prize...spend a couple hours in Michaels last night...just love browsing all the decorations...most of their Christmas stuff is out already which is great for those of us who enjoy doing Christmas gifts...purchased a small bag of mini sparkles which goes a long way, saleslady put them in the bag with my wool..well guess what's sparkling this morning..not sure it will all come out..can you imagine me wearing the quilted jacket, dark tone colors with a zillion sparkles in the knitting...should really return these 2 and get another 2....would mean another trip to Michaels....lol Don't you just love doing things with the grandchildren...working as a recreational co-ordinator my schedule was all over the place..boys joined me much of the time but I didn't get to participate in a whole lot, so yes, just as you are, it's nice to have the time with the young ones...hope your sore bones mend quickly...wish I was closer..applesauce is my favorite....
betty,
holy cow 11.98 the gallon runs 19.99 and the small ones 5-6.98 .
we are all set up by oct 1st so we have one that dh got some pvc pipe (i think its used for drainage) that had holes throughout he ductaped one end closed and put one machine pointed in the other hole at the other end so when the timer goes off every 4-5 minutes it slowly creeps out the tiny holes in the pipe it looks kinda creepy the other one sits out on the otherside and just blows away so with the exception of the witch and the pirate and the rottisery head those are the props that go out on halloween im bringing the man in the eletric chair the stokade and the gilliteen out this weekend.
this was kenny's work of art two years ago
Gardengirl..your quilt is lovely..perfect for a girls room. I am enviuos of all that talents you all have.
Judy..what a great surprise for to to go see REO Speedwagon. My sister was just given tickets to see the stageplay of Dirty Danciing from her husband for her birthday..although it is months away till the performance. Thoughtful husbands.
Well I have several e-mails to answer this morning from friends and family..must get going. Bye for now.
Cheers,
Carol
One of the last roses of summer..New Dawn
alright girls, if i finish all of those craft projects then what will i have to celebrate on july 1,2023 when i retire lol, omg just look 5.19 and im still not in the shower yet
Carol..love the window and look at that rose..not many more to come is there...
Jeannine..really do think you should get into sewing..either custom or teaching..couldn't you give it a try while you are off to see how it goes????
Liz..omg..you win hands down..amazing..and what's best it sounds like DH enjoys it as well...children must be terrified when they near your house...the more and more you take out the more I feel like I've no decorations...lol...do so enjoy these photo's
Large track backhoe installing water/sewer lines next door so they can move in..guy saw me digging and said if I waited he'd dig my firepit..well my goodness..besides the big track which would destroy the lawn and one scoop more than I want for a firepit I thanked him kindly and did it on my own...just getting ready to call Atlas block to see if they have those half moon blocks that I can make a row or 2 around the whole I dug..am hoping they can deliver..so, off I go...
Gardengirl, the quilt is awesome - your DD must be so excited!!!
Carol, that window makes the cutest trellis ever - and the single rose is lovely. I'll have a few more roses bloom here and there, but boy is fall ever here . . . doggone it anyway!
Liz, love the Halloween stuff!
Betty, so you have your fire pit dug already? You are amazing, to say the least! Enjoy your day off.
I only work about two hours on Fridays so hope to get outside for awhile this afternoon. It will be cloudy and cool, but good gardening weather.
Hope everyone has a magical kind of day (good magic, not black magic!).
Thank you everyone for the kind words on the quilt. Betty, I'm a little new at the quilting - my mom is the pro. The only thing special I am using is the walking foot so the fabric won't bunch. I guess I don't do those spcial quilt steps cause I don't know what they are! LOL I've heard my mom talk about the "ditch". I just have a kenmore machine - nothing fancy like my Mom's (Bernina's?). As for the custom sewing, I actually use to make custom flags (banners) and stopped because I become such a perfectionist that it drove me crazy. I like just making stuff for me and my friends plus I go thru craft spurts and switch around to different things throughout the winter.
Liz, nothing yet on the job market. I keep hoping! Thanks for asking and I'll keep you guys posted!!!
Oh my Gosh,
Seems to me i will never be able to catch up and post so here's the best I can do about it.
I have so enjoyed all the photos. From discovering the world, to bubbles in the air, Helpers in the yard and looking awfully cute in the process-not to mention a just a tad bit guilty. Welcoming the preciousness of new babies into our life.
I've enjoyed all the inspirational readings shared, read some a couple of times.
Having loades of fun with all the spooky decorations going on. Simply wonderful displays, Certainly i admire all the work and creativity in the display, wanted to scream in sheer delight with Liz's DH - Loved the the head cooking on a grill in the birdbath! Can hardly wait to see more.
As always, I am in AWE absolutley at all of your craft work. You all just make my heart smile with the love you put into it and share with all. From blankets, to decorated pumpkins and crafty purses and stunning painted balls...smiling in anticipation...Waiting axiously to see your next projects.
Smiling away at the sucess of your endeavors of health, water drinking (even flavored) and fitting into jeans of past.
And as always find peace and Serenity in strolling though your gardens. Seeing the beauty that you see and cherish. Your hard work and devotion shows everybit of love you give.
It has been really good to see friends from the past come in and say hi and welcome to the newcomers, with hopes you'll stay for a chat. Am wishing those that have gone for a bit of a break or recouping from hardships of falls, good health and healing and look forward to your returns.
And to everyone a splendid weekend. May your weather be good and enjoyable.
Have a great weekend and i'll see you on Monday!
Best: It's Friday
Worst: Can't think of any
What did I learn: Circles Expand!
Judy
Well said Judy.
My best is hopefully to come. RAIN. Looks good for today or tomorrow. We will be in Vegas tomorrow for the Nasdcar truck race and if it gets rained out, who cares, we neeed the rain and we will be with our friends and in vegas walking around so that is the best. No worst except maybe a headache coming on.
My lasagna garden is pretty broke down so i will for sure plant this coming planting season. Hello ROSES>
just wanted to add two best things that happened last week.
first - went on vacation to ocean city maryland and met up with gita who is a real sweetie and second, had a catered bbq bridal shower party on sunday for my future daughter in-law.
no worst thing
have a great weekend
Judy, you are missing your calling..know you do writting..back at it girl...get that book written..so enjoy the way you have with words..have a fun weekend .. hoping that you'll be telling us all about that new vehicle...
Dawn, hope it's raining there..weekend in Vegas..lucky girl..not that familiar with the terrain..can you drive or will you fly!...I'm checking up usa map as I post...
Well energy came to a quick end...by aft. I became extremely tired...took a quick bath to wash up the dirt and grime..got my favorite blankie and on the courch I've been..animals wanted to be fed so here I am giving them their nightly meal..then back to the couch... what a waste...tomorrow, I'll be angry with myself...
Hope you are all enjoying the day...
Herbie, looked at all the photo's of family and of course you had enough food for an army..lol...thank goodness Debbie doesn't have to do all that cooking..caterers make things so much easier...better not let Debbie read these posts or she'll be jumping a plane to be in Vegas with our dear Dawn..lol...glad there are no worse in your life..
lol We drive, it is a 3 1/2 hour drive or 4 if there is bad traffic. It may be raining so who knows but it is the most boring monotonous drive on earth.
betty - debbie will never get on a plane
dawn - i made that drive years and yearas ago when i went to vist debs aunt in california. you're right about a boring drive. never saw so much sand in my life.
have a reat day
cooooooeeeee!!!
goodness i leave you all for five minutes and there are a million posts!
that is quite a story betty tho its a few posts back. oh and i cant believe the pt cruizer has gone, my dream car!!! noooooooo!
so nice to see herbie on here... xxx
all of the halloween decorations look great!
today hubby is working at the DD house and there wasnt any more for me to do so DH gave me a little cash to go to the Queen vic market which is huge here in melbourne. He told me to go spend it on myself. I have a problem doing that. not sure why BUT found an amazing didjeredoo for DH at a great price as they are very expensive!!! should have seen me carrying it home on the tram and train!! lolol to funny and a few people poked in unwanted places.....
next time i will go look in the gardening section andsee if something takes my fancy. i probably could have bought a soldering iron in hind sight but i know how much he wanted one since he has been out here and i have never been able to afford a proper one.
sorry to hear the xmas balls arrived broken, as betty said, mine arrived in perfect shape but they were unopened. i will treasure them always.
i have been working on some things myself... no, not ornaments as such and not something that you will think, 'where in the heck will i put this?' its just special... like you all!
best? seeing my DH face when i gave him the didgereedoo..
worst? hmmmm a little panicky and anxious.... no reason and will work through it.. i think its work related, seeing a therapist next week for some support with work issues.
have a great day
xxx
laura, thats a instrument right?
PANICK CITY!!! ..lost you guys..couldn't access DG...kept thinking, now what will I do without all these wonderful and caring people in my life...went to town, came back and thought I'd try 1 more time..and here you are...wooofffffff what a relief...
Liz, I was wondering what that item was as well..sounds wicked..Laura..you have to tell us what it is or what it does..providing that is you wouldn't get kicked off DG for doing so..lol/lol
Did great in my shopping...did groceries and then off to Canadian Tire and purchased a-dvd type back up system for Jeff for christmas...it offers a wide screens vision for the back of the vehicle so when you back up you don't run over anyone..his motorbikes take a lot away from his vision so thought he might enjoy it as a Christmas gift..went to Radio Shack to see about the computer chip for the gps that Melanie is getting Greg for Christmas..apparently it's wonderful..when boating you simply can put the location you want and it leads you to correct location..also shows you depth, rocks, fish, everything you need in a boat...wasn't sure which one Mel is purchasing so thought I'd better wait till she's with me...then off to Fabricland..to do the evil clown..$50.00 worth of materials then the $27.00 I spent for the mask..will work on him today..as for the monkey, had numerous types of fur on sale, just have to check if Caleb wants something that heavy before I buy it..did get a pattern though..went to Post Office but no mask or the Christmas primitive patterns I purchased..hoping for next week...so that was my morning..now I've an appetitite..haven't had breakfast..to upset about loosing you all..lol...
So off I go..fill my tummy and then will try and get the clown suit done as not to be leaving it to the end..October is a very/very busy month for me..then of course the other two grandsons will be putting in their order..lol...love doing their costumes even though at time I don't have a clue as to how I'll accomplish their projects as no pattern is avail..at least this year..2 of the 4 can be done from pattern..except the crazy monkey face..
Do hope your are enjoying your day...sunny but breezy...
Thought I'd share:
I AM THANKFUL FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.
FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES
BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME,NOT ON THE STREETS.
FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM EMPLOYED
FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.
FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.
FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE
FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.
FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION.
FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I AM WARM.
FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH WHO SINGS OFF KEY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I CAN HEAR.
FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.
FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.
FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.
AND FINALLY,
FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE FRIEND WHO ARE THINKING OF ME!

Is anyone else having a tough time posting pictures? I have tried 3 times to post something here and all three times it times out. I'm pretty sure it's not my connection.
Anyway, I wanted to show you what I just finished. It is a pattern of our old Golden Retriever Hobbes that we lost back in December. After she was gone, I found a lady on the internet who does quilts using scrapes of fabric and shading them to look like a photo. Anyway, I sent her a picture of Hobbes and she drew me a pattern and sent me some fabric. I finally cut it out yesterday. I had been dreading doing this because I just thought appliquing would be too hard. Anyway, it was very easy!! All I need to do now is get the background fabric and get it quilted.
I will try and post the pic later.
