Delosperma 'mesa verde', part of my DH shouldn't have to mow on the hill project. BTW of course that is Cosmos!!! Above.
What's blooming? #14
vel, I don't think I have a recent one of the whole shrub. I'll take one soon when it's at its peak.
carrie:
I am so jealous!! That's an awesome clem!!
Thanks for the welcome, Candyce. You have a wonderful group here and I love the photos.
I'll be watching for that pix, Victor. Thanks.
This is old but I grow Holly Hocks every year and this year the rust wiped them out. I didn't notice anyone giving suggestions for future years.
I was given a brown turkey fig by my neighbor. Any hints on how to handle it?
Do you know if the fig is hardy in 6a?
Welcome, Velnita! As Candyce said, our NE Forum porch has room for lots of rockers.....and many of us love to rock and chat......can you tell?? LOL
Carrie and Ngam - beautiful shots. The roses seem to be just loving this fall weather! I don't have many, so I love to see them in the posts.....they are so delicate looking and so colorful. Love them.
Victor - Your Luna Red is amazing! Mine hasn't bloomed for about a month. Not sure what I'm doing wrong!
Dave - our neighbor in Conn. (same zone as you) had wonderful turkey figs. He was from Lebanon, and in the late fall, he would tip his figs over until they were essentially lying on the ground; then he would cover them with heavy rugs for the winter. Yeah, you heard that right! In the spring, he'd stand them back up after the frost passed. The fruit was so delicious! We had a turkey fig at our our house in Fla., but we lost it. Bad choice for Fla. because they fruit in the summer there and we are up here then.
That Diablo Ninebark is wonderful. I'll go looking for it tomorrow.
They're always a problem.
It's in the backyard Pirl.
It's always amazing that something so poisonous gets so many bugs.
Bear with me, I'm trying to keep up with the gram's, the pixie's, the al's, the victor's, the pirl's, and all the others who have oodles ( is that a word) of pics!! Now I forgot what pic I picked - Oh yeah, I think it was some autumn sedums - Bertram Anderson, Vera Jameson (new friends of mine) and Neon
Eleanor
Lazy gnomes ;)
Don't worry about trying to keep up with Victor or Jan - take the high road.LOL
Thomas Edison is looking good along with the gaillardia. I have seen marcrophyll hydrangeas have pink and blue flowers on the same plant - pH must have a very localized effect.
Carrie I love your use of old dead stump. Your SAC looks just wonderful there. I have a couple more balloon flowers budded up again for a second round, they are always nice to see.
Dave the HH rust is usually better or worse depending in the weather. Keeping all effected leaves out of the garden and compost pile will help lessen the spread. Fungicides can also be used but if A plant is that bad I would just remove it and start over. Here is a link that may help. http://www.wuvie.net/hockdiseases.htm
Al, I need Diablo! Have Summer Wine but I could use a nice big beautiful ninebark. Great fall color shots, love the maples.
Eleanor your sedums all look great but your best pic is of your fav blossom. :)
Al is your weed a thistle? they are pretty and the birds love them. I made the mistake once of leaving them in the garden for just those reasons. Have been digging them out ever since and they do not leave easily, wear thick gloves to do this btw.
ngam - that's on a walking trail.
I have a begonia - are they all named rex? I think mine might be spot or fido ;)
