and a rather interesting spider. I probably could have gotten a sharper pic, but I'm chicken. he looks like he could be one of those jumping ones.

Wow - that's a weird one.

Jan, the Polareis is scrumptious! Now the spider on the other hand..it has fur for crying out loud! I wouldn't of gotten to close either!!

Fall arrangement with the pumpkins and mums is really nice.
All those pretty rose, they do seem to be happier without all the high temps and humidity. An odd spider you have there, eeewww! Most things don't bother me but spiders do make me cringe.

Is it my imagination, or is everything doing better with the lower temps lately? My zinnias look so healthy. Even eldest DD commented on them when she visited this week.

Thank you Celeste.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Victor, some beauties there! how do you winter over your tender plants?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Really nice pics Victor. If your aster is a native could be a Calico aster. Love the abutilon, is it hardy there?

Candyce I think things are looking better too. A combo of the cooler temps and a good shot of rain last week I think.

Couldn't resist taking a couple more pics of this rose 'Sisters at Heart'

Love that flicker! Our flicker family lost its home in a wind storm this spring. I was heartbroken. I haven't seen any of them since.

Great shots, ngam. The roses look great.

Hi! I'm just a lurker here since I live too far west (Eons ago I grew up in NJ though). I love the chat, humor, and all of the beautiful pix. But now I have a little question....

Victor, I liked the pix of the Heptacodium. I planted one this last June that was 2' tall. Now it's about 4' and looking healthy but no flowers this year. How old is yours and how big is it? Is there any kind of care (soil amendments) that it seems to especially like? Any advice? Does anyone else have this tree?

Back to lurking.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hi vel. Mine is about 7 years old and is about 10 - 11 feet high. Mine did not flower at first so don't worry. No special care at all. My soil may be more acidic than yours but I don't think it's fussy about that.

Thanks. I like the red sepals. Do you have a pix of the whole tree so I can get an idea of what mine might look like eventually?

Hello, Dayton, Ohio!!!!
I hope you stick around for a while. Everyone is welcome on 'our' front porch!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Ok, now that it's cooler and damper, I finally think I have some what's bloomings to post. I forget the name of this rolled-petal variation of happy old whatever it's called, but it came out nicely in a picture.

(can you tell, I don't know the name, but am covering up with praise?)
