oh Jan they look soooo good... really look great!!!!! so worth the wait!!!
here is what is blooming today!
What's blooming? #14
question for you all (Victor, is butterfly bush in your vast repertoire?)...
I just got this variegated butterfly bush, 'Harlequin'. it has one branch with solid green leaves. I know the variegated varieties of some plants tend to revert to solid. should I prune out the solid-colored branch? would it do any good seeing that butterfly bush dies back to the ground in this climate?
here's the branch with the solid green leaves
Kass, I have no mums. I planted 3 and they all died. I need to look for hardier ones. and give them some winter protection. I'll D-mail about the quilt :)
Al, every year when you show Alma I think I should get one. all my asters are the little NY ones.
does anybody know if it's a BIG mistake to let this wild linaria grow in your garden. I'm sure it will self seed, but it's so pretty.
wonderful photos everyone
All wonderful photos.
What were you tempted to say about my 'Willie Willie', Victor Victor?
Jan, I would prune the green one out but you make a good point about it being cut back each year. But what other choice do you have? I do have a number of BB's, including the beautiful but terribly invasive (for me) Bicolor.
Boojum I love the combo of Gentians and Japanese Anemones. So nice at this time of the year. Wonderful photos.
Jan, I can't get over your rose's!! Still blooming beautifully.....I think I need to buy a few more now!
Pirl or Jan mentioned that my late blooming lily would be a nice companion for the rose's. I have to agree!!
Too beautiful, Celeste.
Yes, booj, that is nice. Which Anemone is it? Love the pink.
Oh my you all have been very busy. Starting with Pixie , I really like that DL color.
Al strikes again with wonderful blooms but that Downham Royal is just my color.
Candyce that sunning butterfly is very pretty, I like the markings. just a little different from the ones I see around here. The cheerful bright zinnias really look more like summer than the quickly approaching fall.
Pirl Willie willie may seem a little silly in the name, but it is a very interesting interesting flower
Boo love the Heritage rose and that Gentian and anemone combo can't be beat. No sign of the fall crocus here yet but yours look very pretty.
Grampapa what a beautiful bunch of roses, your yard must be wonderful to stroll through right now
Kassia what an interesting group of blooms you are getting there, even a lupin
And finally ending with that beautiful bouquet from Pixie, what a nice combo. What rose is it? The DL does work wonderfully with it.
Molineux is also enjoying the cooler temps now.
I like that blue with the orange and the nice shiny broad leaves of your closed gentian all work together so nicely. A very pretty fall scene.
Thanks, Ngam! That part of the "wall" is still green and lush from the shade. I think both of our photos of the purple and orange make a nice complement. The colors of your aster and BES are so clear and bright........love them together!
ngam, lovely photo's!! Your coreopsis looks like mine and the tag says "Early Sunrise" very appropriate name!
Louise I love that photo....I too have blueish-purple in my pumpkin patch and love it!!
Oh thanks you two. Pix that name sounds familiar to me, it just might be it. DB I just love the yellow/orange and blue/purple combos. The new bed from this spring has that color scheme and so far I like it a lot.
I found this fungus growing in the garden. I know what it is and what it looks like, but does any one know its name? I have to say it is very funny to see in person. Kinda reminds me of that Bobbit lady, do you remember? LOL.
OMG ngam......Kassia went to school w/her SIL. It does bring her to mind doesn't it?
Yah!
I did not know that about Kass. She went to school with his sister??! There are way too many good lines I can't do now. Would almost certainly cross the line. Darn!
