What's Blooming? #14
Great shots Celeste. Love the HH one.
Oh boy nice pics again . That glad and lily bouquet is just lovely and I am a sucker for the HH.
The mystery MG is very delicate and the big fat pink dahlia steals the show. Great stuff guys!
I got happy to see the flawed birdhouse. I like things that are flawed.
Celeste we have the same HHs, potentilla, ROS.
My ceiling is flawed.
My plumbing (home, not personal!) is deeply flawed.... I hope nothing else starts to leak....
great shots again today everyone!...... I got stuck in a nasty flood today.... only rained for about a half hour.... but a two lane highway only had the left shoulder open due to the high water
and here is my new shot of the day.... i think it was Victor that said the deer scram didn't work.... guess you were right
Ooh - that can be dangerous. Yes, Deer Scram did not work for me.
Great shots. That deer has got "hungry eyes"!! boojum - I like you too (I'm flawed in BODY and MIND) Eleanor
We're all flawed in one way or another. That's why we need other people!
Al - that Bright Star is gorgeous! What do your neighbors say when you're on the roof taking pictures? (Hi Al!)
Very nice view!
I don't even think they question anything anymore.
Bright Star is from New York - Bath even.
I do it all the time! Get great perspective.
Dahlia 'Bodacious' is where it would have been a month ago had the tubers arrived on time. 'Who Dun It', 'Caliente', 'Purple Taiheijo' and 'Matchmaker' have yet to bloom (but look like they will). Is 'Bodacious' simply earlier? Tubers all looked about the same size. All were planted the same day in the same soil and receive the same light.
Looks GREAT David. I really should get that one or Show and Tell. Little mildew on your zinnias? :)
I don't recall it being early or late from others.
bigcityal...good eye....but a little mildew? I'll take a picture of that 35' row of Purple Prince zinnias tommorow and put it next to a picture from a month ago. A striking contrast. Kept it at bay for while with baking soda but now the row is finis. In fact, I'm tearing it out in the morning. Dahlias got a little on the lower leaves but its gone...for now...and we're not long until the frost....
Al I guess the birds have a good view
:)
Thanks Alison.
David - I was being nice in case you had some silver foliage plant in front of them. I have all my zinnias in pots, which does reduce the mildew by getting them off the ground, but they dry out fast that way. I was really happy with the Dreamlands Mix for my zinnias this year.
DP - what's your average first frost date? Generally we get it Nov. 10th.
Al - some rainy day you might write up a list of what your favorite seeds were for the year. We all benefit from your experience.
Hi, I thought maybe I shouldn't be on this forum but then I saw Al was posting too. I am upper south but maybe you will not run me off.
I love all the pics that are being posted. I am trying to find late season color to add for next year.
Teresa
Hi Teresa,
Did you have a good Birthday yesterday? We won't run you off, everyone is welcome! Al's a regular here we keep him for his wit and humor. LOL
I have daylilies reblooming, and some annuals and my blueberry bush's are changing color, but thats about it. Oh and some Rose of Sharon.....they are just now starting to open now. I'm sure other's will be of more help!
Hi, Pixie
I had a great time yesterday. I have a few dls reblooming, caladiums, a few annuals too. I just love Wave petunias but mine always seem to dry out and get to looking badly.
Pirl - I will. I need to straighten out my photos and do some PlantFiles work yet on them too.
Hi Teresa - yes,I'm under contract here.LOL My best late fall perennials are asters, toad lilies. I seeded some annuals later that will flower until frost, convolulus will flower past a frost. I don't have any fall flowering shrubs - you might be warm enough for some.
check it out, I even have a greenhouse
Great greenhouse, Al. Is that a skunk in the center?
Welcome, Teresa. So glad to have you here with us.
I'd say Asters, Potentilla (shrub), some roses but dahlias take the leading role. Victor has a NE thread on fall color and it might be what you want.
