Gourd,
If it survives it could drop leaves and grow back. If it looks like it might make it then trim it a bit and it might grow back if it isn`t critically wounded.
Btw, I have some open pollinated F2 seeds. Dmail me if you want some of those.

Pink Blizzard x Purple Blizzard grow out results Thread 02
Hey Gourd, Sure enough. I`ll get them out to you. These could be selfed or they could have pollen parents of quite a variety of large flower JMG in every direction around the mother plant. The bees were very busy too so it might be interesting to try them out. Karen
Awesome purple! So you have 1 solid purple out of 5? Karen
Gourd, Your surprises are in the mail. :)
Karen, so far 1 out of 3. I saved 2 seeds to grow in the spring....Nothing opened this morning and we have rain for tomorrow.
I hope I don't miss any my husband and I have an early MC ride on Saturday and a cool down coming soon. Keeping my fingers crossed for Sunday blooms!!
Karen, thank you, please let me know what i can send you.. I'll grow these out in spring.. No blooms today. The vine with the purple flowers still has some leaves drying on it, but don't know if it will make new ones (probably in a few days I'll be able to tell), hopefully this weather will hold out for another month or so.. at least till the pods dry..
A.
Gourd, That is very pretty and light too. One of my flowers was lighter than the others.
I have count of the colors.
Cattjovi: 1 purple blzd,1pink blzd(light beginning blizzard seen in the picture)
beckygardener: 1 purple blzd,1 purple solid
Blue Glancer: 1 purple solid,1solid pink, 1 purple blizzard
Aunt Anne: 1 purple blzd, 1 pink blzd
Mullettman: 1 solid pink, 1 solid purple
Gourd: 1 purple blzd, 1 solid pink, 1pink blzd
Gardener2005: 5 purple blzd, 2 solid purple,2 pink blzd
azreno: 1 pink blzd
Luvsgratedanes, 1solid purple, 1 pink blzd, (1 other pink but unsure if solid or blzd)
Now I would not omit anyone or their results on purpose so please write me a private Dmail if I leave anything out.
In time we will add more data as it gets presented and if anyones solids begins to show blizzard then it will get changed to blzd. Usually there are tiny telltale spots on the blizzards.
And here is the big count (drum roll please!)
purple blizzard: 9
solid purple: 6
pink blizzard: 7
solid pink: 3
Blizzard total: 16 out of 25
purple total: 15 out of 25
pink total: 10 out of 25
Pinks: 7 blizzard and 3 solid
Purples: 9 blizzard and 6 solid
(These solids need followed to make sure they don`t show late blizzard markings because they can look solid at first and throw blizzard later as the vine matures.)
These results could change later depending on the data. Thanks to all who are participating in the grow out!
Karen
All I can say is ooooooooh, aaaaaaah, oooooooooh!!
:) Donna
What a great contribution to the hobby! Educational and entertaining for all!
Thanks Karen!
Arlan
Hi Donna and Arlan, You`re welcome. :)
Ronnie - Those are all so lovely! That's really neat how the color changes with the cooler air. Very interesting!!! Love this cultivar!
Karen - Thanks for spreading these MGs around the country! Such beautiful MGs!!!
Your welcome! I still have not seen the colored throat reappear. Some of them may carry for the colored throat. Saved seeds from these might yield more variations. I hope they out do themselves next year! Karen
Gourd, It looks like Ronnie`s are healthy and mine are setting large pods of seeds so let`s hope maybe it is weather related. Karen

I've got about 4 huge pods on the ones that bloomed last week.. so, it is probably this darned windstorm we had last night too. I love Ronnie's photos, great flowers..
Thanks A. i have quite a few buds and our weather seems to be good for a bit so I should get a few seeds to try next year....
I'm seeing pods on my 2 vines, too! I have marked some of them because I have both blizzards and solids! They look fabulous growing together and I may do it again next Spring with these!! And mine are still blooming up a storm! :-)
Here are mine from today... after mopping, washing, and cleaning up from the weekend, I finally got to upload the photos.. The vine with the purple flower seems to be drying up but it did make that one seedpod from the first flower.. The other four vines with the pink flowers are doing great so far.
# 3 is blizzard. I can see the fine white markings. They are looking good. :)
Nice glory there AZReno,
I didnt have any today...
But, did get the seeds Karen.. THANk you so much, I'll start these in the spring...!!!
azreno, That is beautiful and a nice color too. Gourd you`re welcome for the seeds. :)
TTYL,
Karen
beckygardener and Gourd, They are flourishing under your great care! You are a super plant Moms!!! Karen
MY FIRST BLOOM!
FINALLY!
I have been following this thread while my seeds developed slowly due to our cool summer. I finally got my first bloom and it is a purple, with a very small bit of streaking. The plant has many more blooms so I guess the streaking may increase with subsequent blooms, maybe.

I unwound my vines and moved the planter to a south southwest spot on the porch. It is now putting out new leaves. I will protect it against frosts and maybe it will bloom again.
