Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pt.15 Visit with Friends

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

laura,oh what a idea to go to each others houses and decorate how fun that could be i could just see myself getting fined for to much weight in the cargo(from of coarse to many power tools) lol oh the trouble we could get into.....

betty, thank you sad day to remember i am so not looking foward to work today have to go to that store in san jose for two days apparently thease people called weights and measures went in the store and checked the shelf tags against the product making sure the tags matched the price it rings well the store failed terribly they told the district manager he had so many days to clear it up or they were closing that store.

hey betty have you seen this gizmo at home depot, i swear im so far behind times lol i just wandered near the cleanning section and saw this for cleanning the blades on the celling fans omg it actually works pretty darn good.
well everyone have a good day liz

Good Morning All! No, I don't want to make Aunty "B" mad but I can't speak for Santa!

So I'm hanging again today. I've got a friend's 11 yr old golden retriever coming over for a few days while she is out of town. I'm sure Murphy will be very happy, but I think Madison (the other golden) will just be trying to get away from this crazy kid! We had him over a few weeks ago and Murphy just wanted to play all the time and Madison is a big wimp! He wants to play but wimps out as soon as Murphy joins in. Should be fun!

Went to school last night and had our first quiz. I had missed the second class when we were on vacation so I had to cram (and guess) what was on the test. I found out when I got to class that the test would be on the genus, species & family of a variety of plants. We're talking Latin names here! So for the test the instructor put 12 plants on the table and we had to identify them. HA! OK, so I know what a Maple looks like. That's Aceraceae (family), Acer (genus) and then the tough stuff starts! So I know I didn't do well at all but now I know what she will be looking for on future test.

So Madison just got here and all heck has broken loose! I will post later!!

Cheers!
J

Morning all...raining dark day here today, infact don't know if it's the low ceiling but have major headache .. long time since I've had a migraine..will have to look for my Excedrin Migraine..only thing that seems to help..and maybe a nap in my chair..lol...

You girls have no idea how I wish I could join you in your decorating projects..love learning and love imparting some of my knowledge..I'd better win that lottery!!! ok/ok I'll settle for t.v. bingo jackpot tonight of $2,000.00 - would provide me with side trips on my way south this Dec. now wouldn't that be nice...

Laura..Birds of Paradise..don't think our weather here would permit growing them? will have to check that out..so envious of you just starting your spring...a gentleman from one of the carribean islands is in our office today complaining about the cold..won't be going back until December..was laughing, not sure how he'd cope with our full winters...

Liz, nope you are not behind the times, haven't seen that brush..only have one fan which is in my bedroom and I can stand on the bed to clean it, but can find other values for it..Haven't been going to Home Depot of late since my run in with one of their employees...you will be tired tonight after all the work you'll have to do to clean things up..how did they get so screwed up..wouldn't people realize that the pricing was off???

Jeannine...11 year old shouldn't get into too much mischief..now Murphy on the other hand being a pup will probably drive her crazy wanting to play..don't know how you'd remember those latin names even if you did study..will you be able to retry the test or do they just move on to something else...

How could you not! LOL Adorable

Victoria Harbour, ON

They are adorable..

well by 1:00 pm I couldn't keep my head up..blasted headache, so boss told Suzanne to take me home..we've been home since 2:45pm..of course, somebody called Greg to say that he should check on me later so I get a call..they are coming over to do 'turkey dinner' and keep an eye on me...yuk..have to tell everyone I'm a big girl and if not feeling good I can look after myself..but, they know when I do get migraines I'm usually off to emergency room for a shot..but not since I can purchase from USA ' Exedrin Migraine' if I stay quiet after taking 2 pills, I can virtually feel it lifting..as I am now...so off to the couch I go..talk later...

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Feel better soon Betty.
You are lucky to have such a close family who care for you.

Cheers,
Carol

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

oh dear betty, feel better soon, Its very common for people to get migraines when the barametric pressure changes! its true, cloudy overcast, opressive weather are all contributors. the pressure changes outside and it can effect some. i get them in a northerly wind myself.

i start my foiling class tonight so i am looking forward to that. hope i dont cut myself, not good with sharp things...

must have a look for that blade brush... good idea!

have a good day

xx

GG-That little puppy is just tooo cute!

Hi girls..was holding off going to bed because kids and Mel were here to play bingo..BIL (boss) just called and said all of neighboring communities are out of hydro...turned on t.v. for the bingo and newcast said that due to hydro problems it would be cancelled for tonight and we can use same cards next week..just as well...so thanks for your concern..off to bed...
Best..getting home early
Worse..headache big time
What did I learn...that making a big pot of turkey soup wasn't smart..have absolutely nowhere in refrigerator to put it..moved things around in fridge in craft room...probably store it there until I throw it out..taste good, but goodness...could open a soup kitchen with the quantity that I made...

night all

Pacifica, CA

evening all,

betty, i hope your headace is gone soon and your sisters dog what a cutie such beautiful dogs.

jeannine, how are you holding up lol, bet the dogs are having a ball did murphy wear himself out yet?

laura, have fun at your class are you going to make more lovely butterfly's?

judy, welcome back and how was your retreat was it relaxing for you.

best: couldnt wait to come home
worst: the store we helped out omg they have one girl who is the asst mgr terrible attitude there were 4 of us from different stores there to help she glarred at us walked around doing nothing talking on the phone and in the office putting on her make up the territorial manager came in due to the drawer was 120.00 short had to do with a refund it was fine, but she was horrified to see the store didnt meet company standards.
now i know why nothing got done grrrrrrr.
learned: have to think about that

everyone have a great evening liz

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..back at work, still a touch of the headache...Blue sky above so maybe that will help..so what do you have planned for today...I'm just going to sit nice and quiet...lol....but hope some of you will be around to play...

Liz, what do you think they'll do with the store..get new manager..sounds like the employee they now have doesn't have much on the ball with regards to organization and finances..hmmm...not something you'd like to undertake is it???

Judy, how did your weekend retreat go? Hope all is well..know it was going to be a difficult time for you..did get to talk to your DH for awhile though..sorry we didn't make contact but he was very kind to take the time to gab with a stranger..lol...

Laura, so excited for you..not you have to tell us the process..is it an actual stained glass course you are taking..you'll love it...is the course ongoing or just for the special project..either way you will be the bug...what is the 'blade brush' is that what a glass cutter is in Austrailia terms??? I purchased a few lamp bases and want to make the shades..nothing spectacular, just colorful, using up odds and ends of glass, maybe kind of quilt like.. anxiously awaiting your post...

Ves..do you want me to put your name on a doggie from the next batch..lol

Starzz...funny, sometimes you want family members to surround you and others not..what confuses me is I'm such a capable person, independent to say the least, not sure why they think they must watch over me..feels ok but if I needed help I'd call..(probably not) maybe that's why they do it...

Pacifica, CA

betty, no not me lol.... there two employees leaving as well at lease when we go to help today that witch wont be there glad to hear your headache is going away talk to everyone later liz

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Morning - No Murphy has not worn Madison out nor has he worn himself out. He has though, worn ME out! He has taken a fancy to my flowerbeds and I am fit to be tied!! I discovered yesterday that he has chewed all but one of the vines on my beautiful red honeysuckle plant I have (had!) growing over my trellis going into my garden. I saw the vine looking droopy and I couldn't figure it out till I saw him running thru the yard with one of them. I was PISSED! He has also totally chewed my hibiscus down to the ground. So, he cannot be left outside. The problem with this is I appear to be the only one in the family that really cares about the flowerbeds!! ARGGGGGH!

Funny thing - when we picked Murphy up at the kennel after vacation, the guy told us not to be surprised if he is a little "out of it" for 3-5 days because they really play with them a lot. 8-10 hrs a day. Well, we were really excited and told the guy no problem - we'd welcome some "out of it" time! Well, obviously no one told Murphy that he was suppose to be "out of it" cause he was his regular "non-stop" self. I wanted to call the kennel and ask for a refund!! GEEZ!

I just finished cutting out the applique pieces for my "watercolor" wall hanging. Man, what a pain! My right hand is cramped!!!! So now I just have to fuse them all to the quilt top and them wah-laa, it will be done (except for the backing). I will post a pic when I get it done.

Betty, I hope your headache is gone. I started taking my Zyrtec last night since I'm sure the allergens are starting to fly around!

Will check in later.

J

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG..your beautiful garden..no wonder you are livid..put so much work (and money) only to have it destroyed...now we're talking little cutsy 'Murphy' right....you use the matt and rotary cutting tool and ruler right? still, takes a lot of hand power..now why do you fuse yours vs. sewing and aligning them??? Have fronts/back of my quilted sweater done, have to put it together this weekend...(only is weather is not the best)!
You'll soon run out of projects...lol...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeannine..this is not the pattern I spoke of, but it's a site that has some great ideas...

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

morning betty,

Im not sure what a blade brush is... i didnt get to go last night as i got sick... doh!
so next week.
the sessions are make what you want and are ongoing.. pricy tho at $45 a lesson.

Touch of gastro is what i have. went on my walk last night and felt quite unwell half way through. had to try and make it home. felt quite dizzy and sick. so day off today to recoup. just a 24 hour thing i think. feeling better today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Laura, on 2 counts...that's is pricey..it's about $95.00 for 6 weeks here for 2 1/2 hr. classes....wow...I should move there..maybe make some $$$$...of course, you wouldn't have to pay...lol...must be a way of teaching you without paying that much..is it a regular stained glass store...probably no more than $3.00 worth of glass..if you purchase the actual body I checked and they were $3.99.. and you are sick again..you must be so run down that you are catching everything going around..I'd say part of it is stress and nerves...

Best of today..finding out that the appraisal came in at 1.5 million so the building has the value..BIL was so pleased..so, by tomorrow the lawyers will start working on the sale..everything is a go providing the owner disclosed everything and nothing has been hidden to hamper the sale..keep your fingers crossed...

Worse of today..came home and thought I'd walk over to Bernice and Cliff to see how they were doing...John, Real Estate agent was meeting them at 7:30 to bring an offer..my heart sank, I will SOOOO miss them in my life..I'm sad...as Cliff said, they are on the downswing of life..he'll be 69 this fall and they just can't take the stress of all that has been happening to their family! They say physically they are healthy but not mentally....just so much to worry about..feel the Lord is leading them to another door and all will be ok..told me I can visit any time I wish..yup..hard to drive the 400 miles just for weekends..we'll converse on the internet I'm sure...but still makes me very sad to loose them..great/great people..

What did I learn today...I must be getting smarter..really didn't learn much today..lol..

Well, I'm off for some turkey and homemade turkey soup..bathe and then off to bed..

Melanie came to borrow my car as she had Greg's work truck and didn't want to drive it into town and had to register Noah for hockey..season starting next week..Kyle, well he decided he doesn't want to be a hockey player...

Jeff's Braedon is on the star travelling team..forget what they call the team he's on..they travel all over, even to the USA and he's only 10..imagine..now Caleb, he's no longer interested either..sooo it's 2 for and 2 against..I am NOT an arena 'grandmother' following the games...I sit at home waiting for them to tell me all about it...lol

Have a great evening all..hope you enjoyed your day..loved as usual reading your posts...anybody get a parcel yet????

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Betty, great purse patterns! I will have fun checking all of these out! Thanks!!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Weel as usual , you guys have been so busy and I've been to hyper to post. Hope all is well with you guys...yesterday was funny

Worst--I emailed a vendor after some plants that were mislabeled had finally bloomed. I had been in touch with the company from the start, sent them pictures, sandwiched criticism with praise, and kissed their butt. They had told me I could get a refund (really I'd just rather have the plants I paid for ..but) until I sent them the last bloom photo. The owner said their refund policy did not cover beyond 7 days and he had offered me a refund but no longer could....honestly I no longer cared about a refund, it was no longer worth the trouble. So then I came back with a little attitude, wasn't rude, just straight up, and ended my note with "whatever".

Best: ...lol...Then the owner mailed me back and apologized for being in a bad mood and taking it out on me. It was so funny

What I learned: It's okay to be real, other people might just be real right back.

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

jeannine, omg murphy has been a little on the wild side can you fence the area? gosh all the time you invested. my crazy boy fox terrior use to tear up the grass when he was little with his mouth then digging and scratching it up with is back paws cant tell you how many times i spent outside yelling as he came in just as happy as a lark, that's when i would want to strangle him!! lol after a while i guess he out grew it i hope you can get the beds back in order :( hopefully murphy will out grow this.

betty,oh bernice and cliff are really going to move thats sad maby you can plan a long weekend trip after they get settled crossing my fingers for the new building oh just think of the shortened ride home are you still working on that turkey? that was a neat website on the bags.well the store .... we went yesterday and moved out more merchandise to the shelves made shelf tags the guy called in sick hmmmm so the girl who is temp in charge opened and took a 2 1/2 hour break in the day because she had to close with the new girl two weeks old the witch was off made things nice!
at 3.00 the witch
came through the door and said the kid ken had called her, he had called in sick and she was covering the store to close
well dont call the girl in charge and tell her, now she was pissed that she isnt there by herself. now dont get me wrong but you should of seen her top she was wearing she's tall and quite heavy on the top and here she is with this low cut top and everything pushed up.no respect for the company and dress code turns out the district manager called and told my boss he is going to get rid of them all when he gets back next week we may have to go back friday for a few hours.

laura, are you sick again you poor thing hope you feel better soon does sound like some stress is keeping you ill wow the class is kind of expensive but im sure your going to post some lovely work, how is leopold?
best.none
worst:seeing that nasty girl come through the door
learned: i love my job, i love my job ha ha ha

Pacifica, CA

tropicanna,
we crossed posts lol well there you go good job, dont you just love it when thing like that happen :) hope your all doing well send me some of that energy

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Alright Liz, here you go...take it...maybe I can calm down awhile now...lol

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,

Cool and sunny here. I am going to dust off my bike and go for a ride.

Betty, So glad your BIL is getting the new building..especially since the winter is coming ..
Are your neighbours moving 400 miles north?

Take care all,
Carol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..yes Starzz, they are moving to Manitoulin Island..quite a way north and then west..not sure of exact mileage but I know I'd put in more than 400 miles to visit..and yep..let's hope the vendor has no surprises for us...as we passed the building this morning it just made us want it even more as traffic was bumper to bumper..again more accidents on 401 and 400..everyday lives are lost..won't hurt my feelings to get off 'death road'..

Tropicanna..sure did miss you...why will they give you a refund and not send out the plants you ordered? Is it because they no longer carry them...the plants you did receive in error though, are they a good addition to your flower beds?

Jeannine..have you ever thought perhaps of starting a little business..kind of home sewing..teaching..something that would bring in some income and yet let you do the things you enjoy???

Liz, sounds like your day yesterday was full of ups and downs..now how far is San Meteo from where you live? Can't seem to remember what type of business you are working in..should go back on posts, but it's easier if you just tell me again..you know us old ladies, onset of 'can't remember a thing' lol....don't you just love it when you are there helping out and they all can't get their acts into gear..sick/late/don't know what to do etc...I'd encourage the boss to get new staff as well....

Laura, how are you feeling today...do you get a lot of paid 'sick-days' or are the days 'no pay' days..that's always a concern when an individual is on a budget..as we all are..lol...

Must send Tangiegirl a get well card...sure do miss her uplifting posts..Tangie..if you are reading are posts, our thoughts and prayers are with you...

Well, brought 4 more christmas balls to work on today and some knitting..
Girls are coming to paint tonight so it will make for long day..

It snowed up north last night so that tells us something...gardens looked so pretty this morning but frost was just around the corner so won't be long that will be it for our gardens...when I passed Vasey this morning I saw that the gentleman that sells Blue Spruce trees has a few on his lawn for sale...should drop in this evening and pick a couple up...takes years to look their best but they are soooo beautiful..must have a few more...

I'm rambling..so it's time to say, 'talk later'

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Nah, I don't need those cannas, I really only want pink and whites now. I'm picky about what I want to plant permanently. The state of NC has enough highway construction going on to forever make me hate the color orange. Plus, I'm not trying to direct traffic into the yard..lol

They get those bulbs from a broker, so no, they couldn't really replace them

y'all feel good today, I'm gonna try and be quiet..lol

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Liz, I had my flowerbeds "stringed off" when we brought Murphy home and I just took the stuff down in the past month - because he wasn't going in them! Well, he is all over them now so I guess I will need to put them back up. He is also digging in my beds which just drives me CRAZY!

Betty, yes, I have (had) thought of doing some kind of 'stay at home' job. I've looked into Jobsformoms.com and might "join" so I can get home jobs info. I've thought about starting a "landscape consulting" business but I think I need more landscape background and a little business background. Problem is, my DH (and I) want to keep close to the same salary I was getting. That's challenging since my comp. pays VERY well and has awesome benefits!. Luckily, since DH works at the same comp. I am on his medical so I don't have to worry about that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL Jeannine..if you find a job that allows you to stay home and make same money, send me the name of the firm....guess at some point, you have to decide what will make you more happy..am sure you would do great at landscape consulting..think Judy "Seedtosser" some some landscape designing as well...

Tropicanna, don't be quiet..so enjoy your posts...

Was here talking to a client who is going down East for Christmas, was saying I was going to Florida..got me looking at that USA map again where I pin marked where each of you live...now everyone, couldn't you all move near I75 so I can visit you all...

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Well, if you come down south you most likely will have to take I-95 down and that goes right by me!!! :)

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Very cool website - webcam a friend just sent me. It's in Africa. It's night time but you can see if anything comes by the camera plus there is sound. Very cool!

http://www.africam.com/nkhoro_cam1.php

Victoria Harbour, ON

am looking at it Jeannine..can't see anything..just hearing sounds...is it an ongoing camera..that you just have to sit in front and wait till something goes by??? I'll access it again and see...

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

YOu should be able to see a water hole and there is a tree behind it. Occasionally, the camera moves back and forth like someone is monitoring it. I just checked back in and it's a little fuzzy and very noisy. Not sure if it's the wind or what.

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

It takes quite awhile for the video to load here (even with broadband).

Glenview, IL

Well HELLO everybody!

finally got a breather... I'm all caught up through today! Yippee a whole 5 minutes to go, LOL

Jeanine-Big big bummer about your gardens. I wonder how a pup can be trained not to go in certain spots, hmmm.

Hey Liz, Meant to mention last time how cool you scarecrow is going to be!! You did a real nice job on the frame.

Betty, How sweet it is you'll soon be closer to home. I was saddened for you to be loosing your neighbors and good friends. At least with modern technology though you can visit. I know it's not the same but just trying to see something good out of it. Do they have MSN (is that what you call it?)

I hope everyone has been doing well. A few of you asked how my retreat was. I have to admit it was restful and enlightening for myself. I do feel much better as I have come to a few conclusions that I will be taking care of in the next couple of weeks. They are for the good for all involved, I think. Probably the most important thing is that I beleive I have figured out what my major problem has been. After studying myself and being true and honost, I have wavered from my higher power. Sure, I have prayed and do believe that my prayers are heard...but in this past year, I have not believed in myself and let go of my higher power, which is God, the Creator, and my true Holy Spirit. So that being said I have began again to pray as I once did and I believe. Since then I have felt better then I have in a very long time. All my energy has returned, Haven't lost any more weight but I am now down to a little more than half a pack of smokes. LOL those are not even what I was striving for but hey, I'll take it as it is meant to be. As for drinking, well not exactly sure how things will end up, but i have been behaving, when I think i want, I say a little prayer and end it with this too shall pass, it usually does and I drink my fav...H2O! And I have to tell you too, people notice that I have returned. Seems to me they are just as happy as I am...I don't know where my path is headed but for now I am back to my true nature (which is the goal I have been working for) and for this I am so very thankful, to all of you,
I do appreciate all of the prayers and support and the generosity of your friendship.
I swear sometimes it takes a bulldozer to run me down! But thankfully this one hit me at the right moment.

Betty, Dear sweet friend, your patience and ever so loving support has been a major part in my healing. I am not sure there are any words that can describe my feelings. It is with great privledge and honor that we have met in the wonderful garden. Thank you.

Ok - friends I am leaving on time (first all week) so I will bid you all a very good evening. Will hopefully have time to chat tomorrow.

I am off to enjoy the rest of this gorgeous day...Hmmm maybe a fire tonight!
Judy

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just wasn't sure what I was looking for..Hello Dyson, and how are you this evening...nice to see you post...we ALWAYS welcome newcomers...

Well, better get something into me, girls will be here for painting in 15 minutes..just called a number that was left..4 more want to join in and another 2 in a couple of weeks..really don't want to take in that many, but guess if I'm going to do it I may as well make some $$$...can put it aside for my USA road trip...lol

Talk later....

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

hello there,

yeah she wants another $20 for the glass and such to make it too!

The thing is that over here there are very few available classes and they are all expensive. they have the market cornered. you could make a fortune out here betty!

Yeah i think its stress too but i try and get better. this flu has been hideous!

I hate not having energy and so on. might have to go an get a checkup.

well day off today... have some paid leave but may have run out so not sure about that one.

have a great day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy Babe...funny as I was posting a second ago I was thinking, must send Judy a d-mail, she's awfully quiet..was worried about you, and within a split second there you are..esp..that's what it is...will take time out in the morning to respond to your lovely post..EVERYONE here has such warmth and care in their post that it makes one want to be just that 'little bit better'....we're not just a 'post' friend, we truly care about each other and when one is down we try to lift them up, when one is ill we pray for their wellbeing and when they are absent from the thread, we wish them well and can't wait for their next post to learn what wonderful things have happened to them during their absence... we truly walk the path of life knowing that others care....that's a gift to be cherished...

must have something in my tummy..talk later...

Victoria Harbour, ON

How good are you at following instructions Laura...I could set you up with some of my older tools..send some glass pieces and patterns...$45.00 and $20.00 for materials is outrageous..think you'd like to try???? Photo's posted could help you visualize what you have to do...I'd gladly give it a try if you'd like to..it's a process and you only become good at it through doing...

Sorry you are not feeling better...was hoping things would change..but think until you can relieve yourself of this stress, that you'll catch everything going...tell that hubby of yours you need a month away to recoop, pack your bags and I know where a bedroom (and craft room) awaits...just DO IT FOR YOURSELF..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, we could pick a time and go back and forth with instructions and photo's..could work...

Cardiff, ON(Zone 4a)

Well, it was DS's birthday today. We're having a party on Saturday but had a little celebration this evening with just us. DD baked the cake last night and decorated it today. Then it was present time. My parents sent up a bubble making machine so we got that working. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy outside so the kids asked to do it inside. I decided that since the kitchen floor was in need of a wash anyway I'd just aim the bubbles in that direction. The kids sure had fun. The baby was not very impressed at how slippery the floor was though.
