I'm looking for Ki's post with the picture of S. 'Little Venus'

Thanks, Gail! I've not given up on the seeds yet, and I still have some yet unsown, so I can have a third try at it. :o)

(Zone 1)

Well now ... I went googling and typed in sinningia little venus and the very first item on the page was: Photo's from Growing Gessie's .... Miss Gessiegail's Flickr Photo's!

Gail, I really enjoyed all of your Beautiful pic's!!

The Flickr name "Growing Gessies" is actually...me. :o) Gail's on there, but I can't recall her Flickr name right now. You saw mine when I first got it, but here's Ki's thread where it's blooming. It's the first picture in the thread. Simply amazing!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/710087/

PS I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures! :o)

How funny..........................i am gessiegail and i just saw on fickr your name growing gessies and wondered who it was................I haven't uploaded to Flickr in months and months............just don't take the time and can't figure out how to do it anyway.............i get these emails all the time people wanting to know if they can add pictures I have posted on DG................told them i don't care............they weren't of AVs...................

You're in my friend list on Flickr, Gail! LOL

Did you download their "Flickr Uploadr"? It makes it soooo easy. You just drag the pictures to the window and click upload. It's that easy! You've got a Pro account, so you should use it! :o) I'll help you download it and figure it out, if you want me to.

Here's my S. 'Little Venus' today. It's growing, but I *need* to see those flowers! LOL

I just can't figure out what a set is.........a collection............so i think all my pictures are together..............looks ridiculous...............some other time you have to help me with flickr...........thanks

I also just put all the picture public because i don't even know which groups I belong to (LOL)
When someone sends an invitation, I just say yes................don't have a clue as to who they are..........is it dangerous??????????

Sinningia defoliata that Ki sent me. Some of these Gesneriads grow at an astounding rate!

Thumbnail by RainGazer

Probably not dangerous, as long as you're not putting out personal information, such as your address and things like that.

Sets are pretty easy to figure out. I can only have 3 since I don't have a Pro account (you can have unlimited Sets, since you're Pro, I think), so I've got "Gesneriads" "Non-Gesneriads" and "Propagation" as my sets. I'll be happy to help you get it all set up, Gail! :o)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I think I am growing those seeds as we speak.............glad to know what they look like.............

thanks for your willingness to help me clean up flickr photos and learn how to do it................

This message was edited Aug 27, 2007 11:09 PM

They were on the seed order, so I'm sure you are. How are your seeds doing?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Let me go look...............i only had 1 solo cup with green in it yesterday..........haven't checked today............

(Zone 1)

Ok ... I'm getting OLD! Here's where I was at first and saw a photo of Gail and found her site: http://www.flickr.com/people/growinggessies/

There's Gail!! gessiegail, of course! LOL That's my friend list you see her on. Here is my Flickr page. http://www.flickr.com/photos/growinggessies/ The link on Google led to somewhere weird - my pictures, but just not right at all. LOL

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin..................I wondered who begonias4me was..............oh you put your email..........I should have...........sometime this week you must help me so I can start uploading pics......

I'll be glad to. It shouldn't take too long to get you up and running. I'm still learning about all the things to do there, but I've pretty much figured out uploading pictures and creating sets. :o)

(Zone 1)

Well, who is Begonias4me??? I am getting tired and confused. Didn't sleep well last night, maybe 3 1/2 hours and I never can sleep during the day no matter how hard I try .... so, I need a nap! It's getting late so I am gonna say G'night for now!

Oh sooo beautiful Amy.Great Job!! Momo is gorgeous.Now...Aren't you glad you didn't listen to me and put it out of its misery when it was struggling?LOL

LOL Yes, Nancy, yes I am!! It's gotten so big, I don't know how in the world I'll ever get it out of that glass! It's bigger around than the mouth of the glass... I've got to get it out of there, though, because algae is taking over the sides. It will get to bloom a bit more before I move it though. I just knew you'd be so tickled to see it! :o)

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

I am just tickled pink Amy.That is something to be proud of the way you brought her back from near death. Thanks for sharing.Wow it really has grown so nicely and the blooms..my gosh thats cute!.My flaccida is looking better but not blooming yet.I will post a pic when it does : )

It just opened today and I knew as soon as I saw it I had to post it so you could see. I'm so thankful that it lived and turned out to be so pretty! You know, it's still the only Petrocosmea I have! LOL It will always be my favorite, though! :o)

I'm so happy to hear that your P. flaccida is doing better! Do you have any others?

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Amy I have P. Floribunda and P. Menglingensis too.Not blooming yet tho : (

Can you post a picture of P. menglingensis? I've never seen it, and was thinking about ordering it from Rob's. P. floribunda is a beautiful one! I have seen pictures of it and it's outstanding! If you've got a picture of it handy, too... ;o)

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

I wil go snap a pic of them.Be right back..

Thank you so much! :o)

Thumbnail by cedarnest

Oh I just love them both!! :o) Thank you for posting those! I may trot on over to Rob's just to see what he's got... I want to wait til after the Gessie show in Nashville, but I don't think I can! LOL

(Zone 1)

Oh Wow! That is really pretty! I have one Pet that came from Rob's as a freebie plant ... first and only Petrocosmea I've ever tried ... it's P. barbata and hasn't bloomed yet but I'm hoping it will survive and bloom. I planted it in a glass jar and it seems to be spreading out too and taking over the jar ... I'm wondering if I should remove it to a pot now or wait awhile? It also looks odd to me in the center ... very tight or maybe suckering. I don't know anything about these plants so I'm not sure if I should mess with it or leave it be. I'm so afraid if I repot it, it will die. Can you tell from this picture if it looks like it should or is it suckering, or do these plants even produce suckers? l lifted up the top leaves and there are some teeny little leaves underneath on one side of the plant, so I'm wondering if it's making new little plantlets. I've been thinking of ordering another Petrocosmea but want to make sure I'm doing alright by this one first before subjecting another one to a possible demise!

Oh, I love both of those you have there too Nancy! I think I am going googling to see what I can find about these plants!

Oh it's adorable!! You two know you can grow these from leaf, just like an AV, don't you? I think it's normal for them to be a bit bunchy in the middle. But I'm not one to give advice on these. If you've seen the picture of mine when it was really sad, you'll know why I say that. LOL

Here are a couple pictures of P. barbata for you to compare it to. I think yours looks great!

There are also several pictures here:

I don't know if they sucker or if that could be bloom stalks or not. I'd guess it's pretty happy either way...

Here's a picture looking down on mine.

Lin,Yours looks wonderful! Perfect!

Amy,I know you can grow them from leaves.I have shared some with a few people but haven't heard if they produced any babies.I myself am too danged scared to try and start them from leaves because ..lol..they are so tiny and with my eyesight I would need a magnifier to complete the task.If you would like to try I can send you a couple leaves of each of them once they get a little larger in size..you too Lin if you would like to try them just say the word!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Momo is just too cute Amy! : 0 I love how tiny the pets are!

I accidentally broke a leaf off P. momo and put it down just to see what would happen. It has a baby now! I'll go snap a pic. BRB

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

I can't wait to see it : )
