Great photos. Love the delph's and the rose and actually ordered that Echinacea back in the spring!
Maria - we've had troubles with delph's in the past, too, but I guess this was the kind of summer they like because I still have them in bloom and about half show a lot of new green growth at the bottom (duh).
What's Blooming? # 12
Nice delphs folks!
ngam - love all of the pics of your blooms. Delphiniums are so beautiful and I am one of those who can't grow them. I kept replacing them for several years in a row and the plants never came back the next year. Finally gave up. Oh well, I can enjoy looking at yours. Eleanor
Thanks all. These delphs haven't gone through a winter yet either. They need really good drainage, don't like to dry out totally, a bit of lime and not too much heat and humidity in full sun. Still most of the delphs I have had here disappear after two or three years. I have hopes these will hang around longer but you know how that goes. These new ones are from a New Zealand breeder and are supposed to be better at dealing with the heat and humid summers. So far they are doing as advertised, some on second or third blooming cycle. If they show up again next spring will be the real test.
The rose is on a coated green fence between 4x4 posts. The fence is 6' tall and four feet wide. I am trying to train it into a fan up the fence. There are purple clems on two other sections on either side of the rose.
I have two of the CL echinacea and they are really doing well. Started out as very smal plants, got nibbled by the monster bunny a couple of times but are loaded with blooms now and the first bloom from early Aug is still there and looks about as good as in the beginning. This also has not been through the winter but it should have no problem.
Kim - thanks! Hope you continue to enjoy your treasure!
Ngam - love your Coconut Lime and all of your beautiful delphs. Like Eleanor, I have not had luck in getting them to come back. I hope yours do survive the winter!
Onewish - that Morning Lights is so unusual....love those colors!!
BIGCITY, THAT T IS A TREASURE OF A FLOWER, LOVE IT
(oops)
I am still in love with that bridge, Eleanor.
Ah, the things we do to create more room in our gardens!!
I'm thinking next year that I am going to dig out all the sedums *lol* and send them on to Chantell just so I have room for other things. Now I'm to the point where it's like....do I really like this or would I rather have that *lol*
I LOVE that purple african daisy Celeste....so pretty.
Celeste:
Those are lovely carnations. And I love your gazanias too! What is the genus / species of your carnations, if you would, please?
Pixie - I'm amazed you have room for a house with all your beautiful flowers! You have a reblooming iris there - probably 'Immortality'.
Great dahlia, Anita!
I know it is in fact "Immortality" but it's not a rebloom as this has NEVER bloomed for me which is why i'm baffled.
Placed it on the Iris forum amd I guess this iris is known for not blooming in the spring. It if does bloom in the spring it's not that great and always seems to bloom better in August!

Al love that HE.
Pix, all those colorful annuals, you must have a wonderful garden right now. Every time I plant annuals the critters eat them, they must be a little tastier than perennials.
Wow, still lots of blooms Celeste! Thought you're be fading by now. How's the weather been?
