Patricia, here's a picture of the tangerine canna I'm bringing for you. As you can see, mine is getting chewed up by something, but yours is in better shape.
North Texas RoundUp - Trade page 2
Yes yes, yes, I did want the Hens and Chicks. Sorry, I forgot what they were called. Thanks!
Oooohhh....that is such a pretty bloom!
Thanks, Josephine!
That's a gorgeous canna! Thank you!
Mitch and Bronc I am bringing you both trees from out back. We have found pines, pecan and American persimmon so I am looking tomorrow to find nice ones to mark for diggin up for each of you and any others I find that are not too big to dig...oh did ya want bamboo too??? *giggles*
I know I also have American beauty bushes do you wnat some of those if I can find small ones to dig?
Or shall I just mark things for diggin and bring whatever I find ...hahaha
Mibus, I would love American beauty berries! Ultimately I need, um, I guess 3 or 4, for a new landscape, so I can use whatever you can find.
Mibus - I would love the American Beauty Berries... if you can find a small one.
Thank you sooo much! Mitch
Blue-eyes, got you down for scullcap.
I've got a question about cuttings for this RU. This is my first year i've successful with cuttings. i start out with 3 cuttings per 4" cup and wait till they have rooted, then i divide them into individual cups and start with diluted fish emulsion. I'm not getting much growth, but still have them in the shade that i started the cuttings off with. Do i need to start moving them into more sun?
I'd hate to loose them now, but would like more growth before passing them along. Any suggestions?
I'll bring everything I can find.
I guess I'll have to go and get some trash bags to put things in as I know we don't have enough 5 gal buckets to put stuff in since we sold a whole slue of them before moving
Blue eyes, you can certainly have a chinese indigo as I just potted 4 up on Sunday (assuming they make it).
Thanks so much! They looked so pretty on the plantfiles.
Mibus, I'd like to have 2 pines and one A. persimmon, please. Do you have any post oaks or cedar elms back there?
Blue eyes, be careful where you plant the indigo as it tends to send off shooters. I've had mine for 2 years and it has only sent off 4 shooters this year (none last year). I have mine under a leaky faucet on the northeast side of my house and it thrives there.
umm I know we have oaks but not sure of all the kinds will have to find pictures of the leaves and go look and as for elms..I know there is winged elm and if my luck is good I may just have some of those too but again will find pics and go look.
Thanks for the heads up....my passion vines send out runners, I usually pot them up and use them in trades or pull them out.
cocoalulu, When my cuttings get to a point of having a good root system, I pot them up (cups with holes in bottom is fine) in a good starter mix. Then I give them a little morning sun for a few days and gradually acclimate them to more sun. You have to do this kind of gently a little more sun every few days until they are ready for the full blast. It is very important to keep them well watered at this time as the heat will dry them out.
Good luck!!
Gee that reminds me I've got to harden off my red tips for Mitch.
Ok, I would love to come to the plant swap, and may bring my mother and sister. My sister and I live in 7b. Im in Gainesville and she is around Valley View. I have two rosebushes that I have planned on digging up, but can't bring myself to do it unless they will go to good homes. Im not sure what either one is, but here is the info I can provide. They are both antique roses. The biggest has long drapping canes and (when I say long I mean 10-15 ft easy). The other is smaller, upright and has beautiful small pink flowers, if you keep deadheading it will bloom all summer. The big one blooms spring and early fall. Both are fragrant and have HUGE thorns. They don't get enough sun where the previous owner placed them so I can only imagine how beautiful they would be if they had ideal conditions.
If possible I will post pictures of the smaller one, it is about to bloom again any day now. If anyone is interested let me know.
Dig them or take cuttings. I would like to have some. Welcome to the roundup and we will load you up.
I will take roses or cuttings here too.
Thats GREAT!!! I may still have time to do cuttings. That also makes dig up time a little bit cooler. Can't wait to meet everyone. I am part of the Master Gardener's of Cooke County, I will be sure to tell them to check this out, maybe get some more folks from 7b to attend and swap.
Also gives me time to get a blood transfusion after digging them up...hee hee
Ohhh, I almost forgot, I also have two Lady Banksia (sp?) that need to go to new homes. They are stunners in the spring and have a huge trunk like cane...couldn't tell you how old they are.
Lonestargirl, see if I have anything that you would like to trade for one of your roses if you have one left.
Welcome to the swap Lonestargirl, I will put you and two guests on the list.
Josephine.
And here is a link to the Headcount thread, Please chech it out.

Hello to you Lonestargirl. Here is the links to the list that are on this and another thread. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=3897447
These are members that have their items listed for trades, what they are swapping and some "wish list items".
Glad you and your guests are planning to join us.

I just looked up the lady banksia and if that one is left, may I have it?
I have been putting up trellis and anything for climbers everywhere, because we need shade. I found a beautiful water fountain to put under a trellis and can hardly wait to get it set up.
Lonestargirl, could I have the other Lady Banksia, please? I have poop.....
I'm having a bit of trouble with the tradelist feature. I don't know all the stuff it wants me to fill in. I have rabbit poop and I know the genus is either Edgar, Aretha or King. LOL Why can't you just fill in a list with the info you DO know? :(
Bluesmaven, yes you can make up your own list on this thread, look at the others for guidelines, and then Sheila will put a link on the top of this thread together with the others.
Does that help?
Charlene and Broncbuster I have you both down for Lady Banksia. TAR and mitch I have you both down for cuttings/bushes of my other two roses.
Im new to roses, I have read up on taking cuttings...doesn't seem to difficult, but any tips would be greatly appreciated from those of you more experienced than I.
My sister and I will look over y'alls lists tomorrow and see what we would like to trade.
I looked at the bush about to bloom this evening, should have blooms in about 2-3 days and I will post pictures.
I just bought this house this year so I don't have much to trade for except the roses this year...maybe some elephant ear bulbs too. I know that my sister has cypress rose seeds (I love that plant) and I have Lonestar hibiscus seeds and trumpet vine seeds.
Can someone tell me how to do the trade list?
Im so excited about the RU, I told everyone in my MG class and I think several are going to check it out.
HI Lonestargirl and welcome to DG..I saw last night you were new to the forums..I"m still somewhat new too as we just moved here the end of July from northern Illinois.
To bad I don't live closer to ya I would gladly welcome you MG Class to my place to check out my 2.4 acres of stuff I am getting help from all these Wonderful DGer's in IDing.
I'll see ya at the RU
I don't have a list of anything since I am new to Texas and gardening here, but I am going to try and bring as much stuff as I can for anyone that wants it.
Blues and Lonestar.....
You don't have to use the "trade list" for the swap items. Tell you the truth I have never used it so I couldn't tell you how! LOL!
Just make your plant list on a word document, then when you get it ready, highlight it and copy it into the box, just like a post. Then I will put a link to that exact post at the top where everyone else's link is. Most of us have had our lists before this thread was started, so the links are to that thread so you don't have to search.
You can just put ..."list coming soon"... in a post and I will link to that so you see how it works. Maybe then it will make more sense. Then when you get your list ready you can copy it there by editing it.
Sheila
Just something for y'all to think about...we have a nursery here, but its kinda a BIG secret (even around here). It's actually on my street and I didn't even know about it. It's called Kaden's Nursery (I'll post it soon on the nursery list) and it is absolutely the most fabulous place. It was founded in 1863 and it is the oldest family run nursery in the state. He specializes in old foundation plants, and only sells what will do well in our area. Right now he doesn't have alot of plants as the WHOLE nursery is devoted to 3500 poinsettias, they are supposed to be the prettiest poinsettias ever...very large and full. They literally go around everyday and pinch back and spend alot of time tending. He also makes his own potting soil and sells it (supposed to be absolutely fabulous) I will go by there tomorrow and see what he charges for a bag of soil and how close the poinsettias will be for sale at the time of the RU. Maybe I could trade soil or a poinsettia if anyone would be interested.
Deb
DEB.................what does this nursery grow besides poinsettias? salvias? bulbs? how big is this place?
Hey y'all! Check my list and make sure I haven't forgotten anyone. I just added 2 Texas Sage seedlings if anyone is interested.
jess, if these are leucophyllum frutescens i want one. if it's scarlet sage i have some. lol.
Mamajack, the ones I have are leucophyllum frutescens. I will mark you down for one. I have added links next to each plant on my list. Good idea, Sheila!
