WOW! we NE gardeners are a talkative bunch!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

well, we need to make a suggestion to Dave!!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Coffee mug @ 1/2 price since that's what I usually have in my hand when I get to DG every morning! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just got in and saw the 'standings'. Wow! Not even close. Does this mean we have to be first every week??! Lots of pressure. Hard to believe African Violets was third! That surprised me. Should I start a thread about that?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

....or houseplants we've had success with in the Northeast.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No I meant a thread discussing how in the world AV's can be such a popular topic!!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Where do I find the Newsletter?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You have to sign up for it Maria, but I just looked for it and could not find it. Hopefully, someone else will have that answer.

We had almost twice as many posts as last week. At this rate...

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Thanks Victor, I would not mind signing up for it just hope to learn how
this is realy unbelievable

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Anita's a big AV poseur ;)

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Victor I found it, it is under 'EXTRA" in DG news, thanks again for trying to help, once more you are very considerate

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I tried, too, Maria but when I couldn't found it I thought I'd sound to dumb to say it. Thank God for people like Victor who are so considerate.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Thanks Pirl, I guess one has to check in every day in order to read it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you Maria and Pirl, but good thing Maria found it!

Hey I have an idea. If it sounds popular, I'll start a thread so we can reach more people. I was thinking about this for a while, but now with the blowout Forum post win it's perfect timing to have a way to show our pride.

What about a NE Forum T-shirt?? I contacted admin to get permission to use the DG logo and Terry told me about Zazzle. Apparently, they had a feature going for a while now where you can order DG T-shirts through this Zazzle website (http://www.zazzle.com/davesgarden).

I checked it out briefly and see that you can customize a design that already has the DG logo at the top. So maybe we can come up with a unique design and say something about the NE Forum. You can use jpg or png formats so perhaps one of our creative graphics members can come up with something. Another possibility is to use designs that they have to customize our shirts. The basic shirt is $14.95 but there are discounts for larger orders. We have to find out if the order has to be paid at one time, which could be a challenge, or we can give them a definite number and then each of us can pay ourselves.

Anyway, forget the details. Is there interest in this??

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I've ordered from Zazzle before. If I remember correctly - you can make a design and then "post" it in their catalog and if someone picks your design - you get paid something. So everyone could order their own shirt with the "official" DGNE Big Mouths logo anytime they wanted. They make coffee mugs and postage stamps and all kinds of stuff besides the things that Dave put out to get.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maria - you'll automatically receive it each Monday, in your own Email system, so there's no need to look for it.

Victor - we're counting on you for something witty for the tee shirt!

"You've tried the rest, now try the best - the Northeast Gardening forum"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, but I think it's better if we all agree on a design beforehand, rather than have say, 7 or 8 designs to choose from. We want solidarity. Should be one design and preferably (though this is not as important) one color shirt.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maria, you can sign up to receive the weekly newsletter by email.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

The SAME color? Yeah, like that is going to happen with this group! We can't even talk about the same thing at the same time on the same thread! But we got to come up with our "catch phrase" next.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

I will, I will, thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have ordered from zazzle also, not for myself but as personalized gifts such as individuals flowers, pets, gardeners, etc. etc they are loads of fun. I will go along whatever is chosen

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

How about grungy green, with dirt marks, bleach stains and a dribble of coffee?

The catch phrase is tricky and who are we trying to convince?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No need to try to be too cute or witty (did I say that?!!). Just something that shows that the we are the best place on DG. Add it to a nice plant / flower that we can agree on - preferably one that is native to the NE. Just my two cents.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

You mean wild flowers Victor? Like the Indian PIpe or Skunk cabbage lol or Lady's -slipper or Arbutus or Trillium or Lily of the valley or Jack-in-the pulpit or Laurel or Dogwood or Wild rose or Honeysuckle...............probably can't think of all of them

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Any but the Skunk would be fine for me. Don't leave out trees and shrubs though!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

........or Rugosa roses.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Or a Sugar Maple in all its Fall glory??

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Victor, I was being a bit facetious about the skunk cabbage.

Our town protects wild plants very seriously. One guy built his drive way through the woods to the new house, he dug up about 2 dozen skunk cabbages, when they came to check they stopped his permit till he replanted them with new ones

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

NEW skunk cabbages? Stinky!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh I love it.... I am totally for a T-shirt.... oh I trust we can come up with something really fun!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Victor, is this something like what you had in mind?

This is just a quick one I threw together this morning. I'm not the comp. wizard...DS is.

It says on top of the Blackeyed Susan "Northeast Forum" and under it " The Wild Bunch"

This one I used a Trillium.

Pixie, like both of them but love the trillium

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Welcome back Maria! Looks like you had a good time and took some wonderful pictures!!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Pixie, thank you, I had a wonderful time

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Where did you go, Maria?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Did this one with a Jack in the Pulpit. It says above:
"Northeast Forum" and below "All Natural"

Edited to say: I really need to stop and let DS play as he is MUCH better at it!

Ooooo. Ahhhhh. The Wild Bunch? I guess so.

I have a freind that literally does t-shirts, coats etc. and vinyl lettering for cars, trucks & vehicles. If you want me too, I could check into it.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Should we tell da Dave what we are doing - or just hope that he never finds out?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yank,
I believe Victor already passed it by adminst. and Terry showed him the zazzle site. Post #3907368

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, as I said, we already have the green light. That's the idea I had Celeste. I think we need to leave the official DG logo and add our forum text and the design. If you see the Zazzle site, the customize option has the DG logo on the upper right so then we can put ours front and center.
