Underwater Gardens #4

Pass Christian, MS(Zone 8b)

Shari,
Love your photo, does this mean you have a trigger fish tatoo on your ankle....cool! Or did one bite your ankle (just kidding)
Sorry I have not had enough time to read all the treads through, but yes did check out most of the pictures...just like a kid! Just got into the DGarden thing in July.
My painting is from a photo, from a dive mag. The caption is DREAM WORLD A wildly colored triggerfish seems to materialize straight out of the darkness off Tahiti. I thought he was just too cute! But no top teeth showing....

Janet
Thanks for the encouragement, your very sweet! Are you a painter and/or artist?
Cheers

Cath, Janet and her sister make some unbelievably cool sculptures....she probably won't brag about herself, so I will.

No tattoo, just the scar from a bite! They are incredibly territorial when nesting, and one guy followed me all the way to shore, then bit me in about 4 ft. of water! Lil' monster! The bad part was that I was introducing a newbie to snorkeling, and she was terrified of the water. I was afraid she wouldn't go back in. She laughed and said "No, you were right, nothing in that water hurt me....they were after YOU!". She is now an avid diver, so I guess it worked out OK.

Shari,
No way, that story is too cute! The fish in my painting does not look like the biting type, but I will not trust the next one I see!
I had a stingray try and give my leg a hicky, but thats it so far for me.

Janet,
How do I get to see some of your artwork?

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

Cath,

I couldn't paint by numbers if I tried. I can't draw either.

My sister and I make copper sculptures. If you look in that forum, you'll see them. Just look for threads started by me. It was due to the encouragement of the DG folks that she and I started working on the sculptures. The pieces she'd made before that were very crude. -- her word. Here's one of our sculptures, Penelope, that was created for Balvenie here on Dave's. We basically created her right here on Dave's, at Balvenie's request.

Shari your trigger fish looks a lot like Cath's. :-) Cool fish!

Thanks Shari. We appreciate your kind words. We sure have a lot of fun creating. Hopefully we'll be able to get back into the copper when it cools down and Connie's business slows down a bit.

Just went and looked and the thread for Penelope was way down the list. Here is a link to the thread.

Here is another one we created called Fishes in the Garden.

There are others in the artisans Forum.

Cath, yes please, be careful around them...especially the bigger ones, and definately when they are nesting! We actually have to close the beach out here when someone spots them during that time....they will chase and attack. Had more trigger fish attacks than shark! One gal had a titan take a bite out of her regulater while she was diving!!

Janet - so glad you posted Penelope! Love her! How's the dragon progressing?

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

Nothing's happened on it lately. With the wedding and then the trip to Georgia, it hasn't even entered my mind.

Those triggers sound like the "big fish with big teeth" of my nightmares! HAHAHAHA

What????? You mean to tell me that you are not Superwoman?????

When you have recovered enough to re-tackle the project, I will be interested in seeing the results...so pretty please keep me posted.

Not to worry re: triggers Janet - I will keep you safe!

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

HAHAHAHAHA Don't I wish I was Superwoman!!!

We're about to have a "monster" of a garage sale in a couple of weeks. Getting ready for that is going to take all of my energy for a while.

I never doubted that you'd keep me safe from the big fish with big teeth. :-) Thanks for the reminder though. :-)

Evenin' all...just having a sniff around and found this....maybe we should consider something like this for us island folk....and for those islanders living vicariously through this forum, we could combine a topside palm tree image on the front, and some underwater image for the back....will it cost prohibitive? most likely but would be fun to see everybody in one when we have the world wide bashment!!!! this is what another forum is doing...we could have a saying like....fins and fronds....fish and ferns....poets and dont knowits...i need a beer....

thinking outloud again...

HI Shari, I checked your link and that link goes back to the NE Gardening forum. After looking in the Tropical Gardening forum, I think the link you meant to post was this one.

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/768563/

to the T-Shirt thread in Tropical Gardening.
