Congratulations to all of parrot heads!!! we came in sixteenth place out of 142 threads during the past week...With U/W gardens 3 coming to an end...here is the next installment of living life by the drop, or bubbles....Here we have a tube dwelling worm known as a Chorallimorph, only out at night feeding on organisms that happen by....this would make a cool hat if it weren't so small...
Thanks to all who contribute to this forum...it surely has become a positive force on DG's...
Good luck to us on this number 4

Underwater Gardens #4
Thanks again.
Beautiful pic John! To me it looks like something you would see in space. A picture of a supernova right after it exploded with stars and things around it..........
Ann - I agree! And after spending the wee hours looking for meteors...I am in a spacey kind of mind. John - that is just fantastic, as usual my friend. A poet's soul and an artist's eye.....
I certainly can't post anything that beautiful, so here is a goofy one. Dive buddy Eric holding a sea cucumber, or as the kids call it "whale poop". Sometimes we come upon fields of these critters - just everywhere! Do you have them out there John?
wiggle....wiggle.....yaaayyy.....we're back in bizness......dance.....dance...wiggle...wiggle...
Fantastic picture John!
Yes we do....a numerous variety of them too....You guys want to be informed. right? Did you know that a sea cucumber eats and poops from the same oriface? Sick but true....so when someone tells you to stop talking s*^t, you can tell them you are related to a sea cucumber....goodnight kids....fun to catch up again....see you tomorrow...
j
more than I ever wanted to know..........
me too LouC, ha ha!!
i liKe YoUr LiTtLe DaNcE Chris! It sure is nice to have him back! Here is another unusual factoid about sea cucumbers. Many varieties have a fish that lives inside them - a type of pearlfish. These fish cannot (or do not anyway), live outside of the host...if you take them out of one, they will quickly move into another....very odd.
Now that sounds like something "spacie"! Like something you'd see on the science fiction shows! How neat!
Now, what I want to know is how John (sweet though he is), gets those chorallimorphs to pose for him so nicely. He must have SOME kind of charismatic magic underwater! I want to blow up that pic to poster size and get lost in it!
John's picture looks like something out of a 60's black light poster. Very psychedelic.
I wonder what the pearl fish gain from their symbiotic relationship with the Sea cucumber and what it gives to the host in return. Very odd looking critters!
remember this forum is about underwater gardens.....off topic posts should be started and managed on a new thread...

subtle
What a beautiful fish! And the coral is very pretty too!
~~Waving to my island buddies!~~
Janet
I just love that fish! The blue hexegons and other coloration make her look like there is sunlight and ripples going across. Thank you so much for the pic.
Yeah, I like her too...real cutie. Waving back Janet!!! How ya doin hon? How's that dragon coming along? Glad you guys found the thread....gotta go open the shop again for a special favor....sure get a lot of those! Be back later, have fun ya'll.
The dragon hasn't happened yet. It's been too hot to work outside in Connie's shop. At 7:30 this evening, we saw that the temp was 100. We got to watch it change to 99. By golly it's getting cooler! HAHAHAHA
We did make something really cool though. It's a recycled Fox Purse. You can see more photos and read about it here. I don't want to "hijack" the thread so if you have comments, please post them there on that thread. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/759457/
I will post a photo to tease you though! HAHAHAHA In keeping with the theme so I don't get my butt in a crack, this guy might have swum underwater at one time. :-)
John, the opening photo of this thread is incredible! I love the way you've captured this beautiful animal. I hope your thumb is doing much better now. We're glad you are posting again. It was mighty quiet around here without you.
Janet
How wonderful....the color of this blue cannot be compared. Hi.Shari.
Hey kids...
why didn't they stop the boat and jump in with them and get shots underwater with them???? Cool just the same,,,i miss getting in the water....8 more days and counting....cast off then cast off!!
We haven't had a lot of luck underwater with a pod this large....they just take off! Then as soon as you're back on the boat, they return and yell at you a lot. Part of the folklore out here is that the large pods are rescue workers....the appear during storms and such like to make sure that everyone is okay....they have been known to help struggling swimmers and pull on ropes and buoys when danger threatens divers. So maybe these rescue dolphins don't want to "play" when they are working??? I just love to watch them....
that is good to know...i will volunteer to be dragged behind the boat..maybe they will come to investigate this madman getting drug through the water....thanks for the post....i have a some images to post but they are from a while back and i need to get out there and get some fresh ones...can't post older images..just as good but dated...
j
John....post away! We won't know they are old! Your pictures are so glorious, that what does it matter if you took them yesterday or last year? Besides, posting underwater pics will make you feel like you are underwater without getting your arm wet!
The guys were going real slow...just fast enough to keep them busy jumping and twirling in the wake, but not fast enough to lose their interest. That may be why they stuck around so long, thought the boat was having troubles. I have known this about the dolphins here for so long that I had a panic once. We were in a boat going from Spain to Gibralter, and the boat stalled. The captain was telling everyone (around 100 people or so), that there should be no real problem, just had to let it rest (?), and if it wouldn't re-start they would send out another boat. Okay, no problem. Then the dolphins showed up and I thought we must be sinking! So hard to keep my mouth shut and not panic others....but JB knew I was scared....he kept trying to get me to watch them playing....I was afraid they were just waiting for the bubbles......glurgh, glurgh, glurgh.....
Hiya Katie!!!! John, post away.....that is such a pretty anemone....almost as pretty as its admirer.
Well thanks! Katie says she wishes you were here to enjoy this fresh peach tort coming out of the oven....with a little side of Breyer's vanilla...oh man!! where is the remote!!! I'm going to need a bigger wetsuit
chubbs in cayman
Yummmmmmmmmm! Wish I was there too!! Sounds heavenly! And that is not nice...I am trying to NOT EAT!...Torture...and here I thought you were my friends!
sorry, we're all in this together...besides, if you can't love us fat, then, you can't love at all!!!! i like to think of it as amply supplied in the right areas ...i have an investment here..
HA!!
