Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Part 13

Well hello there, nearing end of day and am I pooped...thought I'd go out and cut grass as it rained for a total of maybe 20 raindrops but will wait for another hour or so for this intense heat to settle..thank goodness for AC..nice for B.B.Q. but not so nice for gardens/grass...

Today was a wonderful day...lot's of fun..all trying to get me to quit work so I can play with them..lol...

So, I thought I'd post some photo's so you can meet some of my friends.....

June and Helen (they all call her Mona..because she moans all through the painting process..lol..) and she thinks it's a cute nickname....they are both doing Muskoka Chairs...

Aline and Pat re painting signs...

Barb keeps us laughing..her good humour is a blessing to us all!!! she usually paints half the wall while painting her project..but not today

George is our mascot..he sure does love to do his own thing...a rose amongst all us thorns..

Can't post photo's all aft. so just sent you a few...now Aline lives up where I did on the lake..she has a friend that continues to visit her while she gardens, then this friend goes over to Darlene's for a visit...she brought in photo so I took photo of her photo in hopes that you could meet her friend....

Now Tom is working in woodshop and this bear thinks he can help...

Many many eats..infact I still have 2 cakes not touched and supper for a few days...forgot to take photo of the cooks, but these friends are enjoying the day!

He is quite possibly the most adorable and photogenic child I’ve ever seen. They can wear you out, though. That’s a fact. It usually doesn’t hit me ‘til after they’ve gone. Then I crash too.

I just wanted to pop in quickly. My sister and her family have been visiting since Sunday so I've had little time to get on the computer. We've been having a great time going to the beach, looking for fossils, doing the 'tourist' route and just visiting. I've been really enjoying having them here especially with how well our children get along. Sometimes I think that I'd really like to move closer to the rest of our family. I guess we'll see what the future brings.

Best - Going to the beach and having a fun time. It was low tide so it was nice and sandy.

Worst - One of the trails through the woods by our house was full of litter. It's so disappointing to see garbage where it shouldn't be.

Learned - A couple who are members of our church have just moved to Moose Factory. We'll be meeting the husband tomorrow.

It is too late, I must get off to bed. TTFN.

Kim,(BLUEKAT) Summer was looking for you. I told her you are here usually now and have abandoned the GOW. Not really.

Liz..I use regular indoor house paint...eggshell preferred..if you've any in gallons lying around, perfect for basecoating..can always cover over....for the regular painting of the cloth I use my craft paints..Americana etc.

Dawn, how are you and Greg doing...nice being able to relax and mend together...or is it? lol ....men can be such babies when it comes to illness...mine always was until it was at the terminal stage then anything they did to him was 'ok' by him...

Well, better get my act together..didn't sleep half the night and then at 4:30 fell into deep sleep...girls will be here at 8am ready for another day of treasure hunting lol..but..I'm hoping to be in around 3 or so as the painting girls will be here at 7pm...

Was going to take the daughter to the Zoo but it is way too hot. She went to camp today and I'm probably going to run to my fave nursery...then go try on lingerie until I start to feel sexy again...lol

Thanks so much y'all for the birthday greetings..I scrapped the lingerie idea...on second thought I may end up feeling worse..lol. Did go to the nursery, though, and picked up a tatting fern, color guard yucca, chenille plant and string of hearts...major textural variety..lol

Judy.....Pretty Dahl......I am so disappointed in mine this year...so far they are very green, healthy and bushy....lots of blooms, too....but they are all hunkered down in, or just barely peeking out of the foliage like a bunch of scared wimps.

Laura...I am impressed! You passed the theory! Not that I ever doubted you, but I do remember you saying how much there was to memorize and how little time you had to do so. See, all that worry.....and you passed! Good Job!

Forgot to mention-your deck area is so pretty, Loving your hummingbird feeders and the hangr they are on. Oh yeah, still weeding! was a big muddy mess but wow they just slide right out when drenched. 3 big lawn waste bags are filled and stickered! Will get behind the pool this afternoon and evening. Then finally -my patio can get unhidden!

Tangi-thanks on Dahlia-I really loved watching them open. Last year had some in the shade and they never bloomed. was very disappointing. Do you dig yours out and re-plant? Maybe they are planter a little deeper this season.

Well today -this morning was a bit crazy but again at a standstill -waiting on other peices. It's all cool tho, since I am leaving in half hour to go pick up my HSer's school books- sure hope it's organized. then off to run some errands- I am thinking a baby blanket is in order...So material looking this afternoon. Baby is going home today.

Best-from last night-getting them weeds picked up! Chatted on the phone to spread news.

Worst-Hearing how bad DH's day went. Felt so bad, wishing I could take some days off to help him out...But hopefully we talked through some of the issues and how things might be handled. I hope so.

What I learned-Understanding other peoples issues are very important, in solving work re-lated problems.

Early evening hi's...couldn't keep my eyes open on the way home..you know, these shopping sprees 2hrs away is a lot harder than one would think...

Didn't purchase a whole lot as I didn't see anything I really wanted...so tomorrow I'll go into local town and seek out a few things on my 'want list'...did manage to stop at a nursery and bought 3 mums and 2 giant flowering cabbage to do a fall pot..need a few other items and should look wonderful...trying to find the # for the man I purchased top soil from..still hasn't dropped it off and only 3 days left before I return to work..just telling the girls that if it isn't dropped off goodness knows what I'll do over the weekend...but it's a stained glass insert for the piece I bought yesterday..want to hang it outside off the back deck ..already have in my mind what it will look like with sun shinning through..just odds/sods of leftover glass welded together..sounds like a plan...

Then there is the 14 pkgs. of Christmas balls that I purchased so I can work on the hand painted balls...so all and all I'm sure to keep busy..unless of course I decide to go boating lol...

Was hoping the girls would cancel out for tonights painting..but not likely..one is doing the following chair and it's hard for her to get animal hair going in correct direction...oh well...off I go..will do my best/worse and what I learnt later this evening...

Dyson..please continue to post...we enjoyed your previous postings...so, here's where you should be lol....

Well, should have left well enough alone, put my head down until girls come, but oh no, had to go say hi across the street at Bernice's...her daughter whom many of you have been praying for, was deep in painting, decorating items for a sale on Sat. in order to have money to help her with the children- well not sure she'll need to have a sale..think I've almost bought everything...bistro set, wicker headboard, rocket set etc. - ladder she's painting red with co-ordinating color pots..etc. black and white gingham table cloth etc. etc.so, doubtful I'll be going anywhere tomorrow as I've already spent tomorrows budget..lol..

Not only did I get some lovely items but it helped her put food on the table for her family....two for the price of one....thank goodness for holidays almost coming to a close...

Laura, am saying special prayers in hopes that everything goes the way you want it to...just relax, be yourself...you'll be fine....just keep thinking how many people care for you, regardless of what happens keep your head up high! Let us know asap...I'll be up late tonight so I'll keep checking for news!

LOL. Betty...no nap...spend all of tomorrow's money, but help a deserving family. Sounds like a pretty good trade off to me. And now that you can't go shopping tomorrow, you could schedule a little nap in there. Ha, as if! Everything sounds wonderful, but I don’t know “rocket set”? The wolves are beautiful. I kill mums just by looking at them. I gave up on them years ago. I do like them though, so I think I’ll spend a little of my mad money and buy a few for the beds this year. I will think of them as annuals and so won’t mind if they don’t winter over. (Apparently, I will believe anything) Thanks for the inspiration, don’t know why this idea struck while reading about yours, but it did.

Laura….I know you are nervous but this day will not define you or shape the rest of your life. We won’t allow that. Picture the examiner in a budgie smuggler, if male and perhaps, if female, try picturing her pole dancing with appropriate attire for that. It may not help you pass, but you won’t be nervous! Besides, you are going to do just fine…and we love you.

Judy….baby blanket sounds perfect…can’t wait for pictures. I’m not sure what the problem is with my dahls this year. It’s raining now (Yes!) but I’ll take a picture of them tomorrow and show you. It’s weird. And speaking of weird. The pups and I were just sitting on the front porch. Even though it was raining fairly hard there were two goldfinches hanging upside down on the sunflowers, happily stuffing themselves with the ripe seeds. Then I saw a big bumblebee working the cleomes in the front porch bed. Whenever I’ve ventured out in the garden in the rain, (not often, granted) I’ve only seen the bees and bugs tucked under the shelter of leaves, waiting out the rain. I thought the bee being out was especially odd. Hope your spousal unit has/had a better day today. I love pulling weeds after a rain! It’s very satisfying to me when they slide right out, roots and all. So glad you have conquered them.

Shar…beautiful pendant. I love the colors. Very pretty. Really had hoped your back would have healed faster than it has. You really must try to move as carefully as possible while you are healing. And absolutely NO LIFTING. It is so easy to undo days or weeks of healing with one wrong move or by trying to do things before you are 100% again. Um...things like trying to get your house back in order. Behave young lady. Kentucky’s not that far….don’t make me drive down there and super glue you into that beautiful rocking chair of yours.

You asked about my project with Kim (bluekat)....she will have to explain it, but I am painting some veggie signs for her to use in farmers market.....hope she doesn't mind, but will try to remember to post a picture of one...she has plans for them as a gift, I think.

Betty...did you get your topsoil yet? the pictures you posted of your friends made me want to be there........till I saw that bear. changed my mind real fast. the chair that your friend painted is lovely. I love animals. (except bears). You really do find some good stuff....but what is a rocket set? Glad you could help Michelle, and maybe now you will rest tomorrow.

Well, it's that time of night...golly I'm tired...girls just left and told me tonight I MUST lock my doors...Rita's hubby is an Ontario Provincial Policeman..they and 60 other officers have been in the area today with helicopters, swat team etc. ..their goal is to find the criminal (murderer-drug dealer) who escaped custody..they did have him cornered but he managed to escape..so still on the loose...they have dogs in search but who knows..wanted to call my girlfriend Ann who is down this week, she has anxiety attacks..know she locks her doors unlike myself so don't really want to call her and upset her..am sure we're about 15 miles from his location..as long as he's not working his way to town...girls told me I wasn't to invite him in so he wouldn't have to spend the night outside....lol..AS IF!!!!!

Michelle came over about an hour ago all upset..apparently she had offered the cafe set to someone else and they really hadn't confirmed that they wanted it, so tonight, they came over to pick it up..she was so upset worrying about how I'd take it...you know, it's just not that important..I'll enjoy the wicker headboard and chair and the fancy painted ladder...things happen right?

Tangie, Tangie - I'd better learn how to spell or type a little slower...it was a 'rocker' not rocket...lol but if she had a rocket I'd have probably come home with it..good idea about the mums..if you are not expecting them to survive I'm sure they will...the bed around the pond has about 4 so once these finished their fall duty in a planter I'll plant them into gardens....one of the fruit stands I stopped at has about 1/2 acre of hollyhocks...I've never had much luck either with them but this year my girlfriend gave me 'garden' hollyhocks and they're beautiful..I'll have to take photo..they are about 3' and massive flowers..anyway, saw the owner and asked if I could pick seeds because there had to be about 10 different colors and doubles..said I could so I've a zillion seeds .. I'll plant some now in hopes that they'll come out of the ground and that way next year I may get blooms and then also plant some next year...purchased 2 other white flocks..so, I'm as bad as you all with purchasing plants..got a flyer in the mail re: Norman's Garden 60% sale...could be the place to go tomorrow..that or the gourd farm...
