Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Part 12

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Not stung at all (I'm still pretty quick for my age), but I did resort to chemicals. The nest is dead and the patch of ground is now safe. I really hate to kill anything I don't eat, but I really hate getting stung also.

Since this was within 6 feet of a raised vegetable bed I really worry about using the chemicals for eradication but I had no choice at the time.

Doing the best I can to care for the earth that cares for me and mine.

Glenview, IL

Hey Dyson,
Yow sorry to hear about the bees! Were you using the cardboard as a weed barrier? I heard that it is very effective. although I gues I'll not use it, never thought about it being a great place for bee's to set up hive! So glad you didn't get stung.

Which reminds me...Is it Liz or Hellzn having a war with ants? Anyway wondering if you have tried Cinnemon? We had a little problem called kids dropping kool-aid and leaving other choice junk that welcomed those little creepy things. The cinnemon kept them from coming- Place sticks around where they are and they stop!

Gardengirl-glad yu had a great weekend-Um...mom? Kind of suprised to hear you not wearing sunscreen! On land, well ok on Water...Always.

Oh Betty, I am Proud of You!! Imagine you staying in your jammies until 10:A.M. Feels good huh? Drapes sound very nice-I so can relate to adding 20 different things when something new get added. Of course things need changing, all the time moved, created, Always have to have coordinating assesories right?

Well lunch almost done bbl-
P. S. Hoping all of your days are going well, everyone is healthy.
Judy

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

OK, ok - at least I put sunscreen on my kids!!! I ALWAYS wear it but I wanted a little "color" on my face this time! :) I was also very hot and just wanted to get the heck into the water!!! (sounded like my kids there!).

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, wanted to add, love the lillies...great aroma..will be seeking out more to plant..want roses, but never very successful with them..guess I love flowers but not up with all the earthly ingredients that are added to the soil before planting...need to get an education in that regard...so, the birthday party went well...just think of next year '13' boys/boys/boys....lol...

I'll have to tell my girlfriend that's also dealing with ants...cinnamon sticks..huh..who would have thunk it...

Patiently waiting for varathane to dry...I leave at least 1/2 - 1 hr. between coats so that should take me till early evening..so, already getting bored...lol...glad you all are posting..helps me pass the afternoon...family should be back from their boat trip by Wednesday...then it's mommy's turn..hope they leave the "Foxy Lady" full of gas...right...remember that, borrow car full, return empty...it will be interesting...

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty the floral border makes your floormat so special. You still amaze me....how you got all the fiddly painting done so quickly.
While I was reading about you putting all the coats on today, I wondered to myself how long in between it takes to dry..so thanks for answering my question.

Seedtosser's Oriental lily looks like my Casablanca....they have a heavenly scent..

I have been out to Zeller's..senior's day..10% off everything you buy..plus there were some good sales today too.
I had to get a new kettle as my old one gave up..and recently I decided to use my good Royal Doulton china teapot and cups to have my tea in the afternoon. No sense letting them sit in the china cabinet. This kettle sits on a stand so you don't have to fuss with the cord..I like it.
I also got 50% off a set of ceramic pots for a friend as a retirement gift. They are square with a butterfly on the front. I will be seeing her soon.

Cheers,
Carol

Starzz...keep forgetting you are Canadian as well..."Zellers" aren't that many of them around anymore are there? I was out shopping Friday, but keeping all my $$$ for tomorrow's road trip to Meaford..stop in Wasaga Beach, Collingwood etc. won't take long to get rid of my $$$'s..especially when there are so many nurseries en-route...

Nice time of year to be getting Christmas gifts isn't it...the factory wharehouse that I'll be visiting tomorrow has everything and at a great price ...I'll have to get my material bags out...at the end of Christmas season a few years ago I purchased Christmas material for $1.00 a yard..made bags and embroidered their names on it..not to give them but to keep me organized...as I purchase gifts I just throw them in this extra large pillow type bag and that way I'm always on-top of what I've purchased..now time to find them...

The Casablanca blooms are heavenly..and yes the scent...need to do a lily patch this year...

Do all you gardeners focus on specific types of flowers/plants..if so, maybe that's where I'm going wrong..lol...

My sister just sent me this photo..her dog Kiak won top in 4 shows...thought I'd share...
http://webhome.idirect.com/~keluk/ukcchjuly29,07.jpg

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Whew! I just came in from putting a bit of water on a few of the plants that are dying..I emptied the rain barrel..I sure hope we get the rain they say we have a 70% chance tomorrow. It is 31c here right now..and humid.

Kiak is a beauty..congrats to your sister.

I have a lot of daylilies..about 35 different kinds..loads of Hosta..50 different kinds..I struggle with my roses..They are way back in the Secret garden and don't get enough water. I love the Orientals..but only have five kinds...and lots of different perennials.

This is the rose garden..between the rabbits eating them..and not enough water..they don't do very well.
I have a very shallow well and without any rain I don't dare use too much for the garden. I even bail my dishwater to water the plants.

Cheers,
Carol

Hi,
Carol, we do have the same Oriental Lily, I am glad you remembered her other name Casa Blanca is it!

I too, want to add more-seeing this graceful plant has given me a new addiciton! In the space she is growing is begging for more, I think Casa Blanca definatley needs some company.

Betty, wish I could help on roses but for some reason I just can't seem to grow them. I got one from the RU, planted her and nothing! I am red in the face for having killed her. But then again , I left the stalk hoping praying that by a small miracle she will bounce back next season. My Josephe's Coat
I had 9 waves of flowers in the first and only season. Was stunning! So I am thinking that I need to build a special planters box just for roses. Will try again next year, in different location and better soil.

OK, so in my crafting corner, I painted the butterfly on the bird house...Tried the shading trick that Shar advised and I think it turned out really nice. Now what color flower do think- Do blue butterflies care what color the flower is? My neighbor said orange but I m not sure yet.

I had a really traumatizing experience this weekend. I was driving behind two motorcycles when someone made a left turn in front of them and one guy had to put on the brakes of his motorcycle and went over the handlebars and bounced and rolled on the pavement. He never got up. The ambulance came and they were going to life flight him but the helicopter wasn't near so they took him to a trauma center about an hour away.

The worst thing: The lady responsible slowed down to see what she did, and then took off without stopping.
The best thing: I got her license plate number!!!!

What I learned: Even in the worst of circumstance, you can meet wonderful people. We met the guys parents who rushed to the scene. We are all praying for the guy. I hope Dh and I can visit him in the hospital. He is in bad shape with broken bones, but he is going to make it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Welcome to our group Byndeweed Beth...

OMG...what a thing to watch, and right in front of you...sure hope the lady is charged..a lot of times when they leave the scene it's because they are intoxicated or doing something they shouldn't be doing...do you think that perhaps she didn't even realize she was the cause? hmmm

Thank goodness he'll live...that would be so wonderful of you and DH to go and visit..am sure he'll have a few questions that need to be answered..I can imagine his parents being so grateful to have someone who witnessed it stay by his side...

Judy, I think very bright yellows...usually when I paint something such as this I stipple color very lightly on the background...kind of anchers design in...now is this work of art for you?..how lovely it will be to see birds using these feeders...I have a few, but really should make a few more...saw some in a woodworking book..just need a few more days in my week..anybody willing to make up a name for them? lol

Love the gardens Starzz..hope you do get rain..looked like we might earlier today but it passed us by..perhaps on it's way to Newcastle...am hoping for 'no rain' tomorrow though..want to do the large flea market in Meaford..rain would not be good for that type of outing....would love to see more photo's of your garden....

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

The lady definitely knew what she did. She slowed down, looked back, and grabbed her head with both hands. She may have been intoxicated, using drugs, no insurance, or driving without a licence. She may have decided since there was no contact between the vehicles that she didn't have to stop. The police have contacted her by phone and will be taking her statement. I made sure the victim's parents knew that DH and I would be happy to testify if this goes to trial.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good for you...you never know, that poor child may need mega health care...so many times, people don't want to get involved..thank goodness for you and DH...

Glenview, IL

Oh My, how awful-
Thank goodness you were there to get her plate number.
Oh, you know I just can't beleive that hit and runs exist-Why can't people just own up to what happened.
I am so sure it was terrible for you to witness such a thing, Probably made your heart stop. How very nice of you to go to the hospital and visit and pray with his family. You are a gem! I will keep him in my prayers for a full recovery and that women be caught!

For once, I am keeping this bird house-I made it at the cottage and it will reside there. The original owners were very fond of all the wild habitate there. After hearing how they had bird feeders and houses everywhere, it was decided My first birdhouse should belong there in the honor of Bernard C.

Also, wanted to congratulate on Kiak-she is stunning!

Carol, Your gardens are so beautiful. I sure hope you get some rain soon.
...that is for everyone. You must have a huge gardens to have such a wonderful variety. Sounds like an excellent mix of sun and shade too.
Judy

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Beth..how awful..you are lucky you were able to stop in time and not run into him too.
Great that he will be ok eventually.
You and your DH are to be commended for what you have done.

Betty..
I am going to try a link to last years pics in my journal..it will give you an idea.

Now you've done it Carol, I'll never get any sleep..and I thought I was creative..how beautiful...my garden is in it's 2nd season and I want so bad to have a mature garden, but as in life, have to wait for it to grow up...love everything you've done..on your own????? or do you have help...now you've just awakened my adrenaline...now you HAVE done it....can't wait to start another corner in my 'world'...it's CAROL'S fault you girls/guys...

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Oh how gorgeous Carol. I love that yard.

B that is a superb job girl.

I swear if you don`t sit at this thread it runs away in a matter of hours or maybe less.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

morning all.

sorry i am a little quiet, i do have a lot on my mind at present and am not sleeping well. i am currently training to be a licence tester. i thought i had won a small victory by being able to do the course. i found out yesterday that they have said that i am still not allowed to go out in a car that i cant wear the seatbelt. i have the doctors excemption, the sear belt extension, lost like 70lbs so i am doing all i can. there maybe some cars that i dont fit but i have covered that. so i have to it seems go ask the instructors if i can try all their seatbelts to see if i fit or just not finish my course. it seems the only reason they let me was to shut me up knowing that the this was going to happen. not sure if i am making sense but i just feel like c****p! i cant sleep worrying about it. everyone knows the problem and it gets discussed in the class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ive had enough... really i have... im just like everyone else and should get the same opportunities. i need to call someone who knows about discrimination and equal opportunity and risk management. my boss says now that they dont want to let me becuase of the risk factor....im just over it... what next?

sorry to winge......the course is really hard and i am doing the best i can under difficult circumstances.

betty the mat is amazing! gosh i wished i lived near you and come to learn from you...

welcome bynd......

hope the guy gets well soon, and good for you standing the gap for him!

ok, as soon as the course is done and the dust has settled, we will do the bracelet. i havnt forgotten. I have all my beads and just need to dig out the knitting needles.

chat soon

LOL...I am on my own now have been for four years..but I did have a friend who helped me with the heavy work from 1998 to 2003.

I actually hired a fella to build the Gazebo..I worked with him and he had built one for himself.

I am happy you like it..a few things have been changed since last year..and I have enlarged my hosta collection this year.
Yes..it takes time..it has been 9 years in the making...and will never be finished..
This is the garden I have worked on this year..the door is gone..it kept falling over..and their is a white bench there now..but it was added after I took this photo.

From what I have seen Betty you have a wonderful garden in the making..
Thanks for the kind words.

Cheers

Oh Wonder,
I am so bummed for you. I sure hope that something happens in your favor.
...I hope you are documenting these things, what is said especially in class-how incredibly rude that is!

Carol, Lovely, lovely gardens, I really love your gazeebo.

Well, I am off for the evening-

Best-from the weekend, sharing a grand day with my Birthday Boy. Was an incredible day with he and friends-nice bunch.

Worst-ftw- The rain broke the flower from my Lily, and destroyed our screen house-rain that caught during night literally bent the top braces!

Learned- Don't leave freshly glued trim on minihouse in the rain-DUH.

Have a grand night!
Judy

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Sorry to hear about your challenges, Wonder. People can be so cruel.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Starzz..don't you disappear on us...so nice to have you join us as are we pleased to see you Byndeweed Beth...

Laura, my heart breaks for you..as this has been going on and on, I'd suggest you do what you thought earlier and go to someone who is a professional in discrimination issues...must be something you can do...

You must have nerves of steel...I'd have broken by now...when I'm angry, angry I deal with it by crying...sure wish I could be outspoken...but then, that could get you into trouble as well..think a lot of it also has to do with the fact that you are not well..makes it even harder..you've done wonders (pardon the pun) with your weight loss...don't get discouraged...
Love ya..am sure a few prayers wouldn't go amiss...

Okay….here is last night’s misplaced post. May no longer be very relevant, but what the hey….
*************************************************************************************************
Well, I love the way my DG home page always says "Welcome Home" so that's my vote for Betty's B & B (say that real fast ten times!). Also, I think people return to B & B's for (in no particular order)

Comfortable and comforting homelike atmosphere, as in country or Victorian or rustic with lots of interesting things to discover. A plethora of fresh (preferable, unless guests are prone to allergies) and/or dried flower arrangements (check) are always nice.

Pleasant outdoor " spaces" with a bit of room to wander about and explore interesting nooks and crannies (check)

Cleanliness. (double check) Also, nice fresh smelling quality bed linens and towels (check)

Simple, abundant tasty food and drink. (check)

A charming proprietress, perceptive enough to follow a guest’s lead as to whether to engage in entertaining light hearted conversation or solitude and quiet (triple check)

The floor mat looks smashing.

Liz.....beautiful leaf. Two sacks of cement for one leaf! Imagine. Sad news about fil but glad other opinions/alternative procedures are being sought.

Nodding off, back tomorrow….

Today.
Best? Found my three daturas are really four. A nice bonus. Now, to get them to bloom before frost.

Worst? Buried, I tell you simply buried in cucumbers! I’m at a loss…I swear, I’m about to begin midnight commando runs on the neighbors cars….anyone foolish enough to leave windows down or doors unlocked will be in for a surprise, come morning. I’ve begun tossing those with the slightest mar or defect right into the compost pile. More of them qualify as such as I’ve taken to leaving my harvest basket on the other side of the garden fence and throwing the cukes up into the air, over the broccoli, over the beans, over the fence, and into the basket…a distance of about 25’ or 30’. I’m getting pretty good, too. Thank God I didn’t plant squash this year. (vegetable rant over:-o)

Learned? I don’t like cucumbers.

Tangie, you always seem to make me laugh...great items re B&B...

Almost bedtime so thought I'd post incase I doze off...

Best thing today: finished matt, spent quiet day working again at my own leisure...
Worst thing....none today, can't get into trouble when you spend the day with yourself, now could you!
What did I learn...again, wasn't smart enough to teach myself anything...
Pretty boring day wouldn't you say..lol...

Tomorrow I'll be venturing out..mischief possibilities....
Night everyone...

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Welcome, Carol. Beautiful Orient. Casa Blanca bloomed very early here this year and has been done for a good two weeks, so it’s doubly nice to see yours and Judy’s. Beautiful yard and gardens.

Yes, Betty…..lilies are easy and very rewarding. I think they would be very happy living in your garden. .They are one of my favorites. I don’t focus on anything in particular. I buy or grow whatever I think I might like. My criteria is more that I stay away from what I know I don’t like…anything else, I’ll try. This worked well for me for years but I notice I have a distinct lack of reds and darker notes in my beds, also not enough white, so I’ve begun to correct that. Kiak is very nice. Is that your sister handling her?

Judy…love the birdhouse and the color you chose for your butterfly. Orange would probably be the popular choice. But I’m not sure….it will be a very fitting tribute and I am hoping you will post more pics of it. I see B has suggested a strong yellow. That sounds nice. I might add a tiny pale lilac flower sprig to it as well. Probably towards the upper right corner/side of the house.

Hi B-Beth…that is terrible. Unfortunate (for you) to be there when it happened but very fortunate for the victim that you had the presence of mind to note the plate number. Thankful he wasn’t a fatality.

Laura, what can I say. You must decide whether the fight is worth it to you, personally. Only you know if you are strong enough right now to continue to fight these people or if the stress it is causing you will be so detrimental to you in the months or years it may take for you to prevail, that regardless of the outcome, it is better to show your back to this place and your tormentors and walk away. This wouldn’t mean you lose, imo. It would simply mean you have made a choice. A decision, if you will, that these people and this place is not important enough for you to bother with. By all means, contact an attorney or an organization that deals with this sort of discrimination. Explain and listen to their advice. I will encourage and support you whatever you decide to do. Just please don’t let these people decide what you are going to be or do for the rest of your life. Or, heaven forbid begin to let their ignorance and stupidity color the way you see yourself. Take whatever decision you make into your own hands and run with it. Stay strong.

This is for you wonder, dear…..a beautiful butterfly stretching her wings, preparing to take off and soar. So may it be with you.

Love to all……B W & L in the morning…sleep well…..Jan

"Betty-no-pauze" I love it! Thanks everyone for the support I really feel like you all are on my side.
Tangiegirl - Freecycle is your friend.

Best today: Leaking toilet was fixed, open faced tomato sandwich, another positive 24 hours.

Worst: heat, $$ for school books, cat didn't find the litter box :((

Learned: all sorts of good stuff - now to apply some of it to my negative thinking.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Ahhhhhhhh geeesh....too many posts for me to keep up, so i will hit the high spots. spent from thursday night to this morning with ethan...not sure which of us shed the most tears when he had to leave, but i will tell you that they left at 11, and by 11:30 i hit my pillows and slept till 4:30 this afternoon, i was that tired!!!! we had a wonderful time, and he was so so good. this morning's tears were the first ones i heard all weekend. what a kid!!!
will attach a photo or two....
now, to catch up with you....
Betty....the floor mat is wonderful, i love it, makes me want to do an entire floor. you do such interesting things, and so quickly! I can't keep up with you.

Beth, so terrible to see and accident happening and to be able to do nothing about it, Saw something similar years ago when a speeder ran into the back of a tractor, threw the man and the tractor straight up in the air, both came down on top of the speeding vehicle..killed both drivers.....was with a nurse friend, and by law she was required to stop......years ago, but still fresh in my mind. sorry you had to witness that, but it is good for the young man's family that you were there. Prayers for all of you.

Dyson....sorry to hear about the bees, didn't know that could happen. glad you did not get stung, my brother mowed over a nest of them once, and was stung badly, about 4 hours later, my dad had to rush him to the hospital because he was in shock...nearly lost him, so you be careful.

Starzz....OMG....what lovely gardens. I have probably around 50 daylilies, and i love them, but roses and i are simply not compatible....i keep trying, but they keep dying...i need to just simply give up and acknowledge that i am not a rose person. just stick to my daylilies. I have some lovely black ones, some with orange throats, some with mint green throats, and i think they are my favorites, but also have many many other colors. so i would have to say that the daylilies are my babies, but like betty, I have a mixture of everything else. but your grounds are wonderful, and i would love to someday take a stroll through them.

Laura, how terribly sad that you are having to go through this. not fair at all. No one deserves that kind of treatment. you are in my prayers for sure.

And tangie, i never tire of reading your posts and seeing your pictures.....what a lovely place you have. the glad is a great color, my favorite, and the butterfly and butterfly bush (with sunflower) really lift my spirits....nice that it is that time of year, my white butterfly bush is beside my drive, and some days I cannot get into my car for the butterflies around it.....so afraid one of them will fly in and get baked inside my car in this heat. I need to park somewhere else away from it, but s closest spot to the door, so there I stop.

Seedtosser.......the butterfly is lovely, my vote is for a soft orange center, then darker orange petals....would look like an old fashioned daylily, or maybe tiger lily then.......love it.....you are doing a great job!

Here's Ethan.........

Bluekat.....nice to see you here.....have thought of you often this weekend.....
hugs to you.

ethan was painting his loader, then he would wash it off and paint it another color, ended up with paint all over his hands and arms....we hosed off and all was well.

and tonights blooms.......heavenly scent also.
enjoy.....
hugs!

Look at his matching John Deere Crocs!! Was that planned? You are good for each other if you know what I mean.

Well I didn't get a nap in today so off to bed - hope the cats let me sleep in a little.

Sharon - We cross posted. I pictured you getting Ethan to work in your garden this weekend.

Pacifica, CA

evening all,

betty, oh the delicate border is beautiful thank you for telling how you did the berry's that was going to be my next question lol,i dont see why you couldnt grow elephant ears they seem to do well in a filtered sun more shady area my mil are huge but there a few degrees hotter where they live, how exciting on sis's champ such a beauty, im going to try some of those gloves too that would definatly be a conversation peice.
jeannine, great spirit you have wishing you best of luck in your search but to have some time off is a plus too
carol, oh sorry you had to see such a thing, but im glad you got the licence plate how terrible to just flee like that your garden is lovely that gazebo is a work of art very unique
starzz, welcome, you also have a beautiful lily
jan thanks were going back up sat i'll take a picture of the large leaves
judy, its called rub and buff its a wax but thats all you do literally rub it on and buff it to shine then i put a couple coats of clear and one coat of thompsons water seal you can get it at michaels but there limited on colors so i go on line and buy a sampler pack from the mfg, lily is a beauty judy i thought i had patience but you win with that wood stack good job its perfect oh im the one with the ant war i'll try cinamon beats the smell of clorox so are you enjoying that pool i have one myself.
laura, oh there terrible to treat you the way the do, like betty said find out about discriminating and document everything ,sending prayers your way hope things get better for you, congrads on you total accomplishment so proud of you great job

best: one street over bunch of things in a driveway with a free sign well we all know what happened got a new umbrella and a old push lawn mower the lawn mower is for a tall pot person i saw it on a web site oh brother another project to ad to the pile
worst: they mixed up all our freight and special orders we had to take a extra hour seperating oh that was a pain
nothing learned today everyone have a great evening liz

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Kim, our weather was in the upper 90's, and that little white haired fair skinned baby doll just couldn't take the heat. No breeze to help, so it was very early out on the deck to paint the loader, then inside till late afternoon when he helped water the flowers. In between we painted a lot, and did other fun things, and both of us fell asleep on his sleeping bag and pillows in the middle of th floor watching snow white and cinderella.......we did have a good time. He does not have to be entertained all the time, but i like the interaction, and like to watch his imagination at work.
Have a good day tomorrow........
call if/when you want.
shar

well thanks..
carol the rose is lovely and tangie the butterfly really symbolises where i want to be.... flying free!

thankyou all for your support, i really appreciate it and take it all on board as i face the challenges of each day.

the manager that is causing all the problems is really having problems with her staff. it seems its not just me. and guess what? as part of her assesment for her bosses, she has to give us all a survey that is totally confidential, in envelopes and collected and posted by antoher to discuss what we all think of her! My time is coming.. i will keep it professional and impartial but honest. i wont make it personal as she has but will make sure they know the truth of her management styles. what goes around comes around.

pray for me on thursday (your wednesday) as i have my exam for the training and its really hard!

Hey girls..thanks for the nice comments about my garden..

Well it is raining here..wondering if it is raining up where Betty is. She was hoping it would hold off for her big outing to Meaford today. She wanted to go to the big flea market there and hit some garden centres.

Cheers,
Carol

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Sounds like a fun outing!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Tangie, I like that name too for B`s B&B.

Laura that is a bad day for sure. What else can you do for today but what you have already done? I think this is the world we live in and if we aren`t size 3, we are`nt fitting in comfortably everywhere, but that is so not reality. You have done so good and you should be proud of that weight loss. They are discriminating if they push it, maybe you may push back. If you don`t feel like it will help you feel better, then keep on, you are doing good and you will get them to look at it differently. Keep your head up, they could not lose the weight you have, I bet.

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Yes, I've been waiting to hear what fabulous finds she came home with...and a story or two, would be nice as well.

Oh Betty, dear......we want information!

Guess I'll just "hang" around in the garden with this guy 'til the party begins....

Well, good evening all..quite the day..
We left here just before 8am and arrived at 9:30 pm...1st. thing..no market, it's yet another hour drive so we opted to visit boutiques, outlet etc.

So, ended up with mega garden things..i.e. hanging array of beads in hummingbird feeder in a rod iron composition..bought several for Xmas gifts...then bought 4 glass feeders for stocking stuffers as well, bought 3 large wooden windows with cross insert that fits in it (no glass) that I can cut insert and do for xmas gifts..but then got creative..think I'll do stained glass..glass on glass and hand it on side of deck/ birdbath in clay pot with blue glaze for garden...red dishes for matching new floorcloth..then went to a candle factory, bought candles and saw a beautiful window rod iron unit that holds 5 different rods with glass inserts for candles..now wouldn't that look lovely in my front window..had to come home with me...bought several plants/long type gardening gloves for me and girlfriend Darlene...oh yes and a neglige...why, I don't know..just thought I should have one...lol...

Oh, forgot, shopped for ALL you guys..I do Christmas balls with scenes of Georgian Bay..so had to buy several boxes so I can get them done and shipped to all of you..can't forget my friends..lol...

So I managed to spend my 'spree' money with no problem...

Got home about 6:00 - had supper and Ann and I decided we'd still play t.v. bingo..nope...no money....so after eating I took out the glass hummingbird feeder and put it all together and hung it up..not fond of where it is so tomorrow it needs to find a new home...

Then we got the lovely rod iron set out and hung it in front window..yuk/yuk...won't be staying there absolutely NOT fond of it... so I'll have to return it over the weekend...then Michelle (who does house staging) was walking by and saw Ann and I in front window hanging my lovely rod iron piece...she came in and confirmed that the purchase must be returned!!!

She fell in love with the matt but said, 'can't stay in here...everything is so country/victorian style..soft/soft colors..just clashes, if I keep it, must do total revamp in color"

Took the matt out to back porch..brought in the matt that was originally under the dining room table back in.. I'm sad...first time I ever got so bold and it wasn't time to be so....but Michelle was right...then Ann thought because there was so much rod iron out there that the chandelier in the little tea room would match better and the rose chandelier in the tea room...moved everything and it was just too small in comparison so back it went.....need new table cloth, need new cushions for dining room so that I can put the white/red ones out on the chairs on back deck...
hmmm so not this week but another weekend coming up it will be 'matt time' again... hate it when a plan doesn't come together....oh well...now I have a pretty back deck

So, it's been quite a day..tomorrow am having about 20 over for B.B.Q. so another full day on it's way...

Did someone say it was vacation time...oh yes, ME/ME/ME....

I sure do hope you've all had a wonderful day..know I did..

Best..all the shopping...
Worse...took 2 steps forward and 6 back in the decorating dept.
What did I learn...don't be brave and decide on vibrant color unless it's well thought out....
