Hey, I just finished my final exam in my last graduate class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I now officially have my master's degree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will post again tomorrow when I have more energy; that exam drained me. love, julie
BTW, Colt called today. He's OK, but I still don't know where he is or when he'll be home. Praise God, he is safe.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Part 12
Froggie congratulations, I am so proud of you and you deserve it after the rough road you had for a while.
Trop that is a funny picture. It is so true in many ways too. God bless OPRAH, she teaches it young. Girl power. lol
Betty thank you so much, my husband said he figured out it was a DG person but he really said you have soothing tone to your voice. I really was sorry I missed you but it was my first day away from the house since Wed. and he was getting crabby and I went to my friend`s to give us a little break. He said she is so sweet and you are the one with wings.
well done froggie!! good girl!
im so tired from studying and i have more to do....
will catch up later...
Froggies girl, BIG congratulations to you!
morning all,

dawn, glad you got to go out to visit a friend it was nice to unwind i think thats what i need to do hope dh is doing better
everyone have a great day liz
Still here but I missed a day - translation - I may not catch up on yesterdays goings on! I did pick up on froggies girl's big announcement. Job well done, Congratulations girl!!!
More later - Kim
Um...what Kim said. I'd try to catch up but that would produce an epic novel.
Shar....that's so wonderful about your sleep machine. I talk to a couple online (different site) and the husband wears one. They call it his Darth Vader mask because of the sound of "heavy breathing" the machine emits. The wife actually finds the sound soothing. I am so glad you'll be feeling better all day, every day.
Betty, how are you feeling today?
Laura...great to read your posts and so glad you sound like you are feeling a bit better in both body and soul?
Excellent, Froggie. What a tremendous accomplishment. Congratulations! Also, so glad you heard from Colt. Great news, indeed.
Trop...Now that's the kind of boyfriend I need. Mind if we clone him?
Yesterday...
Best? Ordered a very cool "Ant Farm" for one of my DGC's birthday. Mason is four today...celebrating this weekend. This thing looks kind of like a "habitrail" for hamsters? Except it's for ants. Looks pretty cool.
Worst? Hubby was crabby and a little down in the dumps all afternoon. Seems fully recovered this morning...so, not much of a worst, just a little bump in the road.
Learned? I want an ant farm :o)
jan,
if you wanted a ant farm i could of sent you my colony.... lol
i've seen those they are pretty cool to watch them work all day
did i miss a post was dh sick? glad he's doing better liz
Good Morning,
Julie, Congratulations!! How wonderful.
Also, I am so happy to hear Colt has arrived at his destination safely, I am sure that eases your mind.
Gardengirl, Today, I am going to have time to check out you photo album-sure sounds like you had fun! Also...Did you have fun at Bush Gardens? We went to the one in Florida couple years ago-The place is awsom so much to see.
Tropi-Ahh, amazing what kids pick up on huh? What a cutie, I like the photo too. Oh, your exoctic plants sound wonderful.
Hi Shar-Good to see you, missed you last couple of days. Whats the breathing tube for? I am glad the situation can be helped.
Laura, It's a big bummer that you have to deal with a person like that at work. So glad to hear you got to do a lesson. Also happy to hear your on the mend. Have you been able to work on your letter "bingo" box?
...Ok, I also have to back up a few days-
Windsong/Judy- Nice to meet you! I think that it was one of your photos, There is a gorgeous garden surrounding a gazeebo. The Gazeebo is what really stands out in my memory. Is it made from tree limbs? Wow, I have only ever seen that in magazines. Very beautiful!
Tangi, That is some Hibiscus-I love the color and wow, it's the size of a plate! I have seen a couple at a distance they, but never knew what they were. How cool. Did you enjoy your bath? Sure made me want to have a calgon hour!
Betty, So nice you got to visit via phone. I am hoping you are feeling much better today. You know, I've been thinking.(uhoh-lol) Maybe you should consider wearing a sun hat while out side, and of course lots of water. You do spend lots of time out side, maybe with the heat the way it is these days a hat might help. Know for myself, I can only tolerate the sun for a couple of hours.
Dawn-Good you got a little break to visit with a friend.
Yesterdays Best, Washed my car!! Inside and out.
Worst-Yuck, she was filthy-
Learnd-My kids are estatic about starting school! I love it. Plus, my car is beautiful- RC Cola Blue, very pretty.
Also, This morning, I woke to my Lily! Finally Bloomed uh, what a beauty-will share as soon as batteries re-charge.
Have a great day!
Judy
Morning all...It's a scorcher here in the city today..watered all my plants before I left home this morning and as I was watering the gentleman who plows in the winter stopped by for a few secs..wanted to see the work I had done on the house..looked at my back yard and said I was starting to have my own oasis...everything is soooo dry, poor plants, gardens not at their finest..told him I had to get some topsoil..so guess who is getting a load so she has something to do on her vacation...more flower beds and upgrading those I have and some lawn work...
Julie, congratulations sweetie..what an accomplishment and what will you now do with this knowledge? Starting a new career?
Shar, how did you sleep last night? Bet the kitties were investigating all the tubes..lol
Dawn, did get to gab with Greg...he sounds wonderful..knew he was goodlooking but now I know he's a 'sweetie' as well ... surely a keeper...maybe I'll keep gabbing with you on DG and gabbing with him on tel. lol Hope you enjoyed your evening out!
Nice gabbing with you as well...had that little DG book out, some I managed to talk with others were out painting the town lol (joking) Don't have a lot of Tel# but those that sent me theirs I do try and call from time to time....
Kim, what are you up to of late...you've been commenting to everyone, but I can't get a feel as to how you are doing? Hope ok...
Tangiegirl..I'm with Liz, here I am spending mega $$$$ to put powder on ant hills and here you are buying them..just maybe I need your address...parcel to be shipped off to meet your needs...lol
Laura..sounds like you can hold your own...great..now you'll just have to get that pay raise...also there is a bead wholesaler in the next town to me, what you have been paying sounds like an awful lot so I'll get the www site, send it to you and could pick up and post some for you if you would like...also, did I miss the directions or materials required list..think I'll go back today in the posts and check it out...
Imagine, boss wants me to do something for about 10 minutes...can't he see I'm busy..now I really am laughing, he said when I have time 'could I' do it for him....so off for 10 minutes or so...
Judy Babe...called you last night, only got recorder, now what where you up to? Weeding I suppose? Maybe I'll go shopping for new hat, could be right..but it's almost every morning for about 2 or 3 hrs. then I'm fine....the odd time I get slightly dizzy during day but not as bad...will try hat though..calling for near 100 today/tomorrow and most of the weekend...it's our long weekend this weekend, won't make much of a difference though because I'm off for 10 days starting tomorrow...if it wasn't so much travelling, on my own, I'd head south of the border and visit a few of you...of course Shar is way down there, and although I really/really want to, but am going to Florida for Christmas so maybe I can detour on my way down...and you Judy are about 11 hrs. away..still a bit of a drive...
oooops you posted at the same time as I, almost forgot my boss wanted me to do an errand..talk in a few....
Big bummer that I missed you Betty, No weeding for me last night, taking a break. Speaking of weeds, Remember Queen Annes Lace, a few of you mention them known as wild carrott... Well, that is because the leaves resemble carrot tops! I beleive I read that somewhere a long time ago. Haha, I do love them as they are pretty, but holy makerole they are invasive...Um they are consuming my original gardens at the moment, thats how I discovered them having the single color flower-LOL. My plan this weekend is to GET RID of them!
Anyway we have a cleaning bug at my house. Dunno what's up with that but
kids, all three cleaned their rooms, straightened the house, So I was washing my car! Took forever, but I did so enjoy the cool refreshing water that DH found amusing to spray me as well as his van. only one hose so couldn't retaliate, arh. (next time)
oh drag, forgot what else I was going to tell you, oh well another time-
Something about Florida...
well now I'm alone for a night...DH is off to Austin on business...sniffle. Guess Zapita and I will find some trouble to get into.
I'm sure that won't take long...how are you today Araness...
Hi Arnaness,
Awe, how long DH be away?
...Oh yeah, went back to last thread-Liz!! Your little dove is so cute in the planter-She looks right at home. Can't wait to see baby doves. Do you have any idea on incubation time? They ducks look like they are great protectors too!
LOL-can you tell I am not so busy today?
Ok, LOL, I seem to be have my very own conversation, hahahah-Sooo-
Got a chance to write up the Baby cake directions. here ya go and have fun.
Baby Cake Ingredients
2 hooded baby towels 1 Winnie the Pooh teddy bear
4 receiving blankets **1 Wooden **teether/rattle
**1 comb & brush set **2 infant feeding spoons
**1 binkies & 1 holder **1 Toddler Spoon & fork set
**1 toothbrushes 1 hat
**1 books **4 sets of protective mits
4 sippie cups **8 sets of infant socks
**1 bottle **1 Peter Rabbit **rattle
1 horse rattle 1 coozie blankie
2 bibs **1 bottle brush
**84 Pampers
“Baking” the Cake
Divide 84 diapers into three sections.
I highlighted the basics.
However for the 3 tiered cake you will want to add other pieces.
Roll the first from bottom to top,
Add second around first and so on,
Pretty soon you will notice that the diapers will fit
End to end you just keep adding until a large disc is formed.
You will use the rubberbands to hold the forms as you add.
I use three different sizes. This will seem loose but you will add
To the bottoms tiers a few at a time, until desired size. Also,
The blankets will hold the final form together.
All three layers-you will need 2 bands, one at top and one at bottom
These are what holds the r-blankets in place.
Hint: The top layer, roll around a bottle and rubberband then continue.
-Also, the top layer should only be wide enough for one receiving blanket to
fit around it with an overlap.
Second layer, should also be wrapped by one receiving blanket
with only a slight overlap.
Third layer will use 2 r-blankets end to end.
Ok, the mits and socks are used as flowerettes.
Stick 2 fingers in and grab end of sock and mitt and pull until
You reach the end. It resembles a flower. these are used to decorate
The plate and anywhere there is a need for something. Just tuck them in
All the other pieces are inserted in and around the cake.
The Plate is made of a piece of cardboard I cut to size of bottom layer.
Usually I add a piece of paper, plain white or you can use baby wrapping paper.
All ingredients for this cake were used-the cake was loaded but
Turned out to be one of my best.
How much you add will be up to you.
Have loads of fun making and just ask if you need help.
I take about a week to make them just because things get shifted
All the time.
So everyone-have a grand evening, see you tomorrow!
Judy
Hi all, everyone is so busy, except Froggie for once.
Just got home, I've decided to have something to eat, put a good program on and relax...imagine...yup..it's Betty saying those things...so I'll post now just incase I relax so much that I fall asleep...
Judy, for sure I'm in Florida over the Christmas holidays and if you are in St. Augustine, then I'll pop over...not that far from Clearwater...and maybe on my way down I can take a slight detour and visit with Shar...that's my plan..mom said I had to spend Christmas down there, sooo we'll see...as long as everything goes according to Hoyle...I'll be there...
Best:still on my diet - 3 days, don't feel any lighter but I'll give it time..no pepsi and for me that's the same as quitting smoking...
Worse: called my neighbor and asked why they were back so soon from Manitoulin Island....about 6 hr. drive from here only to find out they've come back to put their home on the market...I'm just soooo sad..so nice to have them as a neighbor..she said same...but they find they need to get out to somewhere quiet...she said it would happen if the Lord thought it was right for them....almost tempted to say a prayer to the Lord to consider this move...feel so safe with them around! I'm sad!!!!
What did I learn...that I've finally decided to stay home over my holidays and just play..maybe some boating..nothing to exciting...
Betty, wanted to give you some encouragement on reducing pepsi....about 2 months ago I started drinking less soda and more water. I don't weigh myself but I have really noticed a significant difference, without any other lifestyle changes, I'm eating the same and activity is about the same. So you're doing great, keep it up.
Judy, you're crafty, woman ;)
Best: Saw my favorite musician (rap artist) last night...awesome
Worst: was pretty hungover today...lol
What I learned: I can't do everything like I used to
Thanks Tropicanna...heard we're able to water a bit on odd days so I'm out getting the burnt grass wet...came in to feed 'Sailor' and sat for a few minutes and read your post....pepsi is my biggest downfall I would say...I have much difficulty though in drinking water...when I was younger and both kidneys failed, the only thing I could keep down and was made to drink morning to night was water..now I drink a glass and I feel like vomiting...I would say I don't drink a glass of water every 6 months so it will be difficult, but did buy a bottle at lunch instead of pop..so am trying..thanks for encouragement...it's needed...
OOH B, that is dangerous not to drink water, especially with a kidney past. Young lady don`t make me come over there and force it on you again.
Soda is a bad thing, they say even diet which is my vice. I have cut back 90% though.
Trop who was the rap artist, you saw and love?
I love Lincoln park and they mix it up with rap and rock but I am not a huge fan of rap, I like some stuff but it is too nasty for me to try to find out who I`d like to listen too alot.
Like Jesus walks with me, has that song and a couple of others are so nasty, that I think, what an idiot. WalMart versions have 1/2 the lyrics blocked out.
I do not like to always have to run around for the holidays either. I wanted to take off for Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas if it fell right but my aunt is coming from maryland the first week in Dec. so I may have to scrap The Thanksgivng thing and plan dinner for when they come down. ho hum.
Know I should be drinking water but in 2 years I spent a total of 1 year in the hospital...I always said if I ever got out I wouldn't drink water again, and, I've kept my promise except for a few drinks...but, am trying..have to give me an A+ for trying can't you Dawn...
Nope because I don`t want to light a candle for you, you are way too important here and loved. Please buy a case and atleast drink one or two a day. Get the flavored ones or carbonated ones with fruit or propel, if that counts. No A. I will give an S for stubborness to a fault. Tough love my friend.
You've made my day 'Dawn' - I'm just a laughing..you really are sweet, but it would be a toss up between you and Greg! just kidding..
toss up between us for what, we are fighting over which one is the winner but we don`t know of what? lol
Hey Dawn, it was Talib Kweli. He's not really popular or anything --too smart for most people. I had a blast.
good night ladies ;)
Sorry, must be posting and not being understood so must mean I'm tired, although I'm feeling wide awake..but before I get in trouble, I'll sign off and go to bed...night all
Ok, maybe I am tired but I win whatever it was and I will rub it in OK? This coming from the girl who has candles lit all over and didn`t know we were talking cyber candles. You can not go to bed unless you swallow a glass of water young lady whom I love. Good night.
Hi Everyone! Been kinda busy - not sure doing what but haven't been able to get online as much the past few days. I did spend most of today at work rewriting my resume. I really hate doing that! I word-smith so much that it takes forever and I think it looks like BS. Anyway, the company does help with the writing of resumes and actually finding new positions.
Busch Gardens yesterday was a blast! Betty, it's only about an hour from my house - the one in Williamsburg, Va. We create a scavenger hunt for our dept and we (the 4 judges) rode rides and walked around having fun while they were all running around looking for answers. I was talked into riding a roller coaster I had not been on before. Apollo's Chairot. It was fun but all I could think of the whole time on it was Fabio getting hit by a goose the day it opened. I kept my head down low!
We met up with all of the groups for lunch and then after lunch I was talked into riding their newest roller coaster - the Griffon. It is the tallest, dive coaster in the world. It goes up 205 ft. So let me just start by saying my intention when going to the park was to give it a try. I'm usually game for stuff - but I took one look at that coaster and said "over my dead body"! The "cars" consist of 3 rows of 10 seats each. They "sit" on what looks like a single pedestal that runs on the tracks. It is "floorless" so your feet dangle. So after lunch a group of the people decided to ride the Griffon. (that's right - right after LUNCH!) Some how, my brain forgot what the eyes had seen and I agreed to ride it too. So we stand in line for 20 mins, make it up to the gate all along saying "what in the heck (not the word I really used) is a 46 yr old mother of two riding this crazy thing for". So we get on the "car". I have grabbed one of the middle seats (for safety, right?), lock myself in and the car starts to go. I'm like "OH S***". The girl next to me is a screamer and let me tell you, my hearing in my left ear will never be the same! Did I forget to tell you that once the car is at the top, it gently hangs the car over the edge of the hill and sits there for about 10 seconds? I think I forgot to also mention that the drop is a 90 degree drop - STRAIGHT DOWN!!! Yeah, well this is where I closed my eyes (the view was awesome before I did that though!). The car sits on the top and everyone is quiet and the "screamer" next to me goes O.M.G! at the top of her lungs! I could not stop laughing!! And then we dropped and did a few loop-d-loops and it was all over in about 30 seconds. Let me tell you, that was the most amazing ride I have ever been on!!! It was the smoothest ride and I am so sorry I closed my eyes on the first drop. I can't wait to do it again.
I found this link that has a few videos of the ride. The first clip is HILARIOUS. It's obviously a group of media people that have forced one of their co-workers on the coaster and she is in tears - but watch it and you will laugh! The second one is taken as if seen thru your eyes so you can get a feeling of how it was. I'm telling you, it was great!!
http://www.griffoncoaster.com/
I forgot - Julie - congratulations on your Masters! That is just wonderful!!
Tropicanna - I am with you. I don't know how Betty remembers what everyone says! She is a gem!!
Well, I am off to bed. Everyone have a great evening and enjoy the videos!!!
J
Best thing today:
Life continues...Work is busy. I guess that's a good thing for us (employees) while a bad thing for the patients.
A couple of months ago, there was a housefire in Buffalo, which nearly killed a firefighter when a chimney collapsed on him. He was brought to our hospital in very serious condition and was not expected to live, or perhaps exist in a vegetative state. They had to amputate one leg at the knee in order to curb infection. He was treated in our Trauma Unit and very slowly began to improve. I remember how happy we all were to hear that he would follow the nurses with his eyes. Today he was released from the hospital! He was sitting up in a wheelchair, alert and smiling for the cameras! My heart was so full of joy! It was a proud and loving scene!

Out of office errands to run so bbl to try again.
Hope everyone's having a good thursday?
Jan
Jeannine, you were very brave...I took groups of seniors to Disney and also to Busch Gardens in Florida..they all did the plume ride and guess who tried to talk them out of it because how can you let an entire group of seniors get in line and you stay behind because it frightens you...lol..so I wen't but not something I'll be doing again..rest assured...I'm terrified of heights - even on a ladder to wash windows I sweat with fear!
Sounds like you all had a wonderful day...
Nap, thank you for posting ...always nice to share the 'miracles' that happen tragedies...
Liz that's so cute...my girlfriend Shaunee lost her DH not long ago and who she thought was her best friend had written an e-mail to another friend of hers gabbing about what the future might bring, i.e." wonder how long it will be before someone is sleeping on his side of the bed....widows with money get offers before the corpse is cold...etc..." not nice...anyway, they did same! Shawnee was devastated and is minus a friend...
Tangie, bet it was a lovely post lol...so do enjoy them..will look forward to reading it tonight...
Murmur/Dyson...miss your posts....
Gillibean...how was the trip to Santa's Village with those lovely children of yours? Thought of you all throughout the day..was quiet at work and wondered by I didn't book off and join you with some of mine....tell that lovely daughter of yours thank you for the wonderful picture she did...on my fridge....Keith did very well, sitting and gabbing with us...not all hubbies would fit in so comfortably.... I so did enjoy meeting you all!
betty, if you like the sight and sent of moonflowers, take a look at the ones I left you on the Kay/shar thread in the prayer forum....
I enjoyed the entire process of watching it bloom.....
later,
sharon
I'm back! We just got home yesterday and now have a ton of unpacking to do. I decided that I was entitled to a little break to check DG though. It looks like I've missed two complete Best/Worst/Learned threads. You've all been so busy.
My visit with Betty was wonderful and the meal she made was delicious, a real treat. She made us feel right at home (except we didn't have to do any of the work to prepare supper). We were also lucky to meet some of Betty's family which was really nice. I have a picture of us together so when I get a chance to load my pictures on the computer I'll be sure to post it. Ian loved playing with Sailor the dog and Sonora was thrilled with Betty's workshop and all the artists who came in the morning. She even asked me if she could put on one of her older shirts so she could paint too. Unfortunately we had to get on our way to go to Santa's Village (where the kids also had a great time).
I'll have to post more later. I have plants I brought home that I need to get in the ground and more unpacking to do.
I'll do a 'best' though. All of my hoya cuttings have roots. I was a little worried that they wouldn't survive my absence but they are doing wonderfully. I'm so excited.
Glad you made it home safely...now your work begins, getting gardens back into shape and unpacking..nice that you dropped in though...now I can breathe a sigh of relief that you made it safely home!
sssshhhhhhsssssshhhhhh everyone is sleeping or resting...so very, very quiet!
Just thought I'd drop in to say another 45 minutes and then 10 days vacation...just sooooo excited....keep resting dear friends!
uh-oh, Betty, you realize it will be this quiet while you're gone, right? Really, enjoy your vacation ;)
Tropicanna, no such luck on all your parts, have computer sitting next to craft room and will be on as I take little rests throughout the day! So you are definately stuck with me..will post about my exciting week ...I'm not far...
