Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Part 12

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Awesome :)

Okay ... I've been nudged by Betty to drop back by ... but I'll tell ya right now in advance I can't do justice by keeping track of everyone ... but I'll do my best. I do want to comment on Julie's accomplishement! Just wonderful! And I'm so happy about the fireman. Sooo happy for him, also. Oh and Betty and Gilli ... just great the 2 of you were able to meet! I love stories like that. I've had the opportunity to meet some DG friends. There's nothing like it. :)

Okay, now for my best / worse ...
My best ... I've been a bumb today. :) Does that count? Hmmm, that might even count for my worse, too. LOL
Okay, I have to think hard on this one ... We had rain today and I couldn't go outside. The only thing bad about the rain, though, is it's about the 5th day in a row for showers. It's been so dry here ... I really hesitate to complain about the rain though. :) I just can't think of anything else ... that is unless I can count being a bumb as both. LOL
What I've learned ... I've been reading about planting garlic. I want to get some started for the winter so I'll have plenty for next year. The one I get in the grocery is wretched and just doesn't hold up.

Okay, guess that's it for today. Y'all have a blessed rest of the day!

Yeah Laura. Hi Elaine, nice to see you. Very few of us can keep up here, we just improvise.

Best thing, went to this little mountain town with Dh for lunch and rented a movie for later.

Worst I am realizing that now that I filed for unemployment I will not be as free to come and go as my DH is now and we were thinking of going to Portland on a road trip but may not be able to do it now because I have to do the unemployment stuff.

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL, Laura. I've almost done that but clicked "stop" in time. I'll go over and read you there. Very much looking forward to baby pictures. Good that you keep on pushing right back at work. Proud of your strength. So many would just sit back and take the disrespect, but not our “wonder”….you go, woman. Super job fitting into those jeans…great feeling, isn’t it? I’ve no doubt you look marvelous in them.

Jeannine…So glad you enjoyed Busch Gardens. It is such a cool place. I remember going often as a child in Florida.

Judy….looking forward to lily photo… Isn’t it grand to wake up to, or come home to, garden surprises? How are you feeling? You sound good. Strong. Hope you feel that way, too. Send those three kids my way….DS is moving closer to work in Delaware next week and I am afraid to go up in the loft where he’s been staying…..the last time I ventured up….I couldn’t see the floor at all…Yikes! Thanks for posting baby cake instructions I have printed and saved to hard drive. No babies on the horizon here, but surely someone I know will cooperate soon so that I can try these out

Gillian…glad you are all home safe and sound. I love to travel, but think coming home might be the best part, but then a good bit of my travel has been work related so maybe I’m not a good judge. I do know I am afraid to go back to the French West Indies again….The last time we were there we came within an inch of just deciding to come home to the states long enough to sell things off, pack our lives up and just go back and take it from there. We weren’t quite empty nesters then, as we are now. It could definitely happen. Good thing the web really is worldwide….just in case, you know?

Trop…I’m still drooling over your box of goodies. You’ll have to give us a pictorial when they grow up. Live music is almost always worth the next day hangover though, isn’t it?

Nap…wonderful story and thanks for the link….Enjoy hearing a happy story with so much bad going on in the world.

LOL, Liz….the ant farm has arrived but of course, no ants yet….they are “mail away for ants” which makes sense…wonder what is the shelf life of an ant would be? No, you didn’t miss anything. H was just having a crabby day. He’s usually so cheerful (even when he first wakes up! I swear, I just want to slap him sometimes, lol). The first seven years we lived together we would start every morning with this “conversation”

Him “Good Morning Pie” (Pie=pet name for me) followed by five to fifteen minutes of happy chatter from him.
Me “…….”
Him “Honey?”
Me “…….”
Him “Are you mad at me?”
Me “…….”
Him “Did I do something wrong?”
Me “Yes.” “YOU’RE TALKING.”

After about seven years, he finally stopped worrying, each and every morning, that I was angry with him. I make an exception if company is about, but if it’s just family or good friends, I’m verbally non-responsive when I first wake up. I hear what’s said. Sometimes I even process what’s said. I just don’t respond to external stimuli very well until I’ve been up for a while. Got a belly laugh out of your silly men story…isn’t that just SO typical!

Betty…..you are officially on holiday! That must feel wonderful. When did you say that Dr. would be back in town? While I doubt the word rest will be one you’ll use frequently in your vacation posts…I am glad to hear that you are staying around home and just contemplating some day trips. I would worry less if you had already seen your Doctor and would worry more yet if you were traveling. Stopping soft drinks is very hard. It’s mostly the caffeine, I think. Watch you don’t get even worse headaches (from caffeine withdrawal) in the next week or so.

araness….hope you enjoyed your solitary evening?

Shar? Unless I missed a post from you, you are awfully quiet. Hope you are okay?

Looks like I may have frightened Frank off with my jabber…if not, this one should do it, for sure. lol

I’ll do my best and worst in the morning. It was a sunflower kind of day here, so wanted to share…..

Be well, all….enjoy your night.

am fine, Jan, thanks for asking...just busy busy busy. AND my little ethan is headed this way again tonight for the weekend.....just the two of us so I have been planning for that.
and am trying to decide what we will do inside since the temps are so hot and humidity is dreadful. He is so fun, and easy to be with he won't mind what we do.
so if I fail to check in this next day or so, just remember I am being a Nana, and you will probably get lots of photos when this weekend is over.
Hugs to everybody...
shar

also......beautiful photo, I am so in love with your house!!!!!!

Tangie..you just make me laugh out loud so often..rarely I get to hear the voice of my laughter..living alone and all..I read your posts and just can't help myself..the banter between you and hubby...just so entertaining...
I so do love your home...must be wonderful living in such a stately mansion!!!

Painting class just finished, and, SIL that I work with came over to do a stained glass lamp...on our way outside tonight when she was leaving I said 'those d....n men,(contractors) said they'd be here Tuesday to clean up their mess" (not my house but next door-mess has been on my property for 4 months) and then they would bring all the boulders over to complete my pond, then another gentleman that I paid said he'd drop a load of topsoil off today but no topsoil..maybe tomorrow, so I said 'now you know why I don't have a man, I want things done today not 10 years from now" just kidding of course..but gee, when I say I'll do something for someone, I do..can't understand their mode of operation..now maybe it being 95 degrees out today excluding humidity so feels more like 110 could be the reason why....

Makes for a long day teaching at night..no sooner do I get home but they all arrive...but, I can sleep in tomorrow should I wish to...only thing for tomorrow on my agendy is go to the license bureau re ownership to the boat...Greg dropped in tonight and said he went to get a signed document from the gentleman we bought the boat from so I could register the 'lady' in my name and the gentleman said he never changed it from the lady who owned it before...that's me...so I'll see if I can get my ownership and if I can I've probably saved hundreds in taxes..wouldn't that be great..I'm rambling, probably not making sense so that means...betty byes...

Shar..have the boys arrived yet..bet Ethan is so excited....you'll have to post photo's ...

101... enjoyed the thread..we've all missed you...send your rain my way..certainly could use it...Sailor is acting up tonight..can't settle down..that usually means a storm is on it's way...we'll see what a weatherdog she is in the morning..rain or no rain...

Laura, my girlfriend Rita who was painting here tonight has a daughter in Australia at the moment...she is in 'Broom' for a few days...has so far been in Monkey Maya and is on her way to Darwin...then home next month..she's been there almost a year now...are any of these places near you?

Dawn, so glad you and Greg got out today...must mean you are both getting better..sorry to hear about the road trip..who knows, maybe you'll be able to arrange an outing...

Well I'm off...angels are watching over you for me!

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

Susan - I bought garlic here http://www.gourmetgarlicgardens.com/orders.htm last year and it did wonderfully. Easy as pie. I am going to order a few hotter varieties this year.

Best: Have quit drinking and sticking with it - today is day 11. I have a positive attitude and lots of outside support.

Worst - John cancelling my insurance earlier than expected. COBRA $$ and waiting to get a quote for individual coverage.

Learned: no sense beating my head against the wall - it is what it is - move on.

Supposed to be 100 here today so I plan to be in AC all day wherever that is.

Betty - great news about the boat registration!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Good for you bluekat! Now Betty's on a lifestyle change.....maybe I should quite smoking...or maybe men...not sure which is more troublesome or will cause more hazards to my health...lol

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

Thanks Trop - That is a tossup for sure but in the end I would vote for no smoking. Easy to say since I don't smoke!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I actually think quitting smoking would be easier.....only way I know is I've actually been able to quit them before successfully....but with men I'm not sure it's possible....lol

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Okay...this is getting old. Lost another post :o( Will try again later....want to get back outside before it hits the mid-nineties today. Two of the three new triplet sibling hibiscus (hibisci? hibiscises?) sisters are in the ground.....one to go...but already thinking of running back over to growers.....$2.25 per hibiscus in five gallon pots? How can I not? Now..where to put them (since I just made up my mind.....gotta do it...will pick up fall veggie plants, too...there...now I have a REAL reason to go.....won't be my fault if they jump into the car while I'm loading the vegs, maybe a hanging basket or two will sneak into the rear compartment, too.

Must to take the time to thank Betty for my morning laugh, though. Mansion...hah! Hardly. Our criteria for fixing up things around here is when the answer to the (frequently asked) question "Is this TOO "Clampett-like?" is "Yes". Then, it gets restored or updated. We are, if nothing else, a VERY laid back house.

bbl to try to post to all and B, W, & L for yesterday....again....Jan

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

Well the DH got home yesterday, at which point he wasn't such a D anymore...

Wed night I got my mind set on a grilled hamburger steak and grilled onions, and since the auto light button on our gas grill hasn't worked in ages (we have a new one DH hasn't installed it, even though I've asked, begged and #@(%$$# for months) so I go out, lift the grate, start the lighter thingie, turn on the gas and BOOM! Needless to say I now need a haircut and I've googled, it will take 4 months for my eyelashes to grow back! Only thing we can think of is that the tube was kinked or something caused a clog. Knowing the cause does NOT make me any happier of a camper. I was attached to those eyelashes! Guess I don't have to list a worst for Wed, do I?

Hi y'all!
I've just got to stop coming here when I'm eating my lunch. My keyboard is getting grungy! LOL Oh today is such a wonderful day!! I've just got to tell you first before I comment to everyone!

Best thing ... My good friend has just found out that they have a baby girl and will be headed for China to receive her. She's been waiting ever since I've known her since March of 2005 to have a baby. Isn't this just woooonderful! Of course, she's wanted a baby loger than this, but I've been praying with her since then. Oooooh, ain't God grand!!
Worse ... How can there be on a day like today? NO WAY!
What I've learned ...

John 16:23
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Well, I knew it ... it's just been confirmed again. :)

Okay now to comment ...
Kim thanks for the garlic link! I'm going over right now to check it out. I did a lot of research and can plant out in Sept and Oct so have time to order. Oh and congrats to you!! :-)

Betty, congrats on being on vacation. I hope to be going on one soon. Gotta get to the beach ya know. LOL

Tangie ... whew ... you always make me laugh! grin I know how it is when those plants just hop in your buggy. ahahaha

Trop ... stop with the guys ... * no way *! Get you a good one and you'll never say that again. Of course ... it would be a good idea to give up the cigs too. smile

Okay, my brain is dead so I'll just ~ to everyone else.

Oh wait a minute ... Dawn ... seems I'm way behind with you. Missed an entire thread of yours. Can't keep up with DG anymore. Tooo big. Glad you and the DH are doing OK.

Now I'm outta here!

Some of you may remember Tomatoholic - Michelle and their quest to adopt.

I updated Michelle's thread from last year even though she is no longer a member of DG. Here is the whole thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/554489/ and just the baby post link: http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=3812898

Isn't it wooonderful! :-)

Oh how happy for the new parents!

And IO1, I have a pretty good man.....course, I suppose it never hurts to have a few more.....where is that state where polygyny is legal, again?

Oh my gosh ... could never handle more than * one * man!! no no NO!
grin

Kim

Well, here I am, 1st day vacation almost coming to a close...

Did I rest, yep..all of about 10 minutes, but that's ok, spend the day doing things at my leisure and enjoyed...

by 11am I had all the grass cut, weeding done, load of clothes and dishwasher complete...then DS called and I went into town and met him for lunch, then of course visited all the nurseries and I couldn't believe that almost are all out of stock or wanting same $$ value for flowers that are almost dead...maybe after this long weekend they might be on sale and I'll be able to go crazy...but, went to Canadian Tire and there was 1 little shrub sitting out in their garden area..the only plant, only shrub, half dead so it just had to come home with me..not sure what it is but the clerk charged me $2.00 so that's a bargoon...then at the Home Depot I purchased a lily so you got enjoy that kind of day ... lol... so, as you know I'm up early but I frizzle out after supper...bought fresh veggies so off I go for something to eat...I'll be back before bedtime to respond to all your lovely posts...

You are all great! oh here's my plant..

Well, araness….you did say you and Zapita were going looking for trouble. Leave it to you to find it right in your own backyard, lol. Condolences on the loss of your eyelashes…truly, I am sorry and forgive me for laughing…It’s just that I can SO see this happening. Thank goodness (and good reflexes) you weren’t seriously hurt.

Bluekat…WOW! Eleven days and a positive attitude…..that’s wonderful! Hard, hard thing to do, I know. Poo on the insurance….it’s horrific, the cost. For a lousy policy for just H & I, $888.00 per month. Makes me sick just thinking about it. And we are a group, being self-employed and all. Anyway…I really do feel your pain.

Kim…what a marvelous best! I am so happy for your friend, Michelle and am sure your prayers helped her tremendously during the long wait. The baby sounds adorable….will follow link in bluekat’s post to their blog..maybe there will be pictures!

Shar? Guessing you have your darling Ethan with you by now. Looking forward to more photos and Nana “out of the mouths of babes” stories.

Laura, well, that I’ve lost my mind is a given. Been lost so long, I no longer search for it and might not even recognize it were we to meet on the street. And you must certainly get a rousing AMEN from this member of the chorus. You’re right, we love them but not a day goes by that I don’t simply shake my head in wonderment at how their tiny little brains work. Truly, a different species. Sorry to hear your arthritis is worse than usual….glad to hear that the twinkle and sass in your voice is still there. I am loving it. You poor thing, a sore throat, too. I think you are right about being a bit rundown and stressed out. I suspect it all affects our immune systems even more than science can measure.

Got all three new shrubs in their new spots and gave everybody a little dried manure and bone meal feed and a nice drink. Also indulged in an afternoon nap. H is on his way home after a stop at the grocery….I was supposed to make a salad for my big contribution to dinner but so far, that hasn’t happened. I’m going to go feed the pups and make myself a cup of coffee and then we shall see if a salad is in our future tonight.

Yesterday
Best? Another surprise glad showed me her color...this baby is dark purple with some lovely lighter lilac shading. Waiting for full bloom and I will share a pic.

Worst? The bridge collapse.

Learned? (Reminded) Your whole world can and at some point in life, probably will change in a heartbeat. Plan for the future. Live in the moment.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Best...just being able to get all the yard duty done without having to rush...also Ann (friend who cottages down the road) said she's spending the week at the cottage so I'll have someone to play with!!!

Worse...no worse today, enjoyed the day..

What did I learn...even though I didn't overdue, very, very tired tonight! No night-life for me!

Also, never kept geraniums in the house over winter...cut them down and put them in back bedroom, only watered maybe once a month and then only slightly...so pretty today..thought I'd share!

evening all,

betty, that is a nice shrub im sure you'll give it lots of tlc.
those chairs are beautiful, so what are your plans for your vacation where are you going to plant that lily such a pretty pink
but did you ever get to the doctor?

jan, your worst reminds me of the earthquake we had back in 89 and one of ours colapsing just turns your world upside down having to plan other routes you just dont realize how dependant we become in our comfortable enviorment cant wait to see the new pic

laura, oh you have a big amen here!!!lol cant tell you how many times i've had to run to the sideof the house to shoot my big mouth off one day while i was venting i learned my next door neighbor had his side door open i thought i was going to die when i saw him i think what kills me is its the same question , the same scratch and the same beltch...lol
i hope you feel better soon and look foward to the bracelett

l01 great news post some pics when the arrival comes
bluekat, great news too
araness, omg im glad it wasnt serious oh you were lucky did dh fix it?

best: went to another store to do inventory boss driving and she took the wrong exit so we were 1 hour late we still got to leave early
worst: came home to the darn army again all over the sink, and counter cant find their entry i got so mad kitchen reaks of clorox now but ther gone for now
learned : having that extra two hours got to go to hd and get some flowers and cement
hummer food and pool cleanning supplys saves me going out tomorrow

well everyone have a nice weekend liz
sharran have a great weekend with ethan

Pacifica, CA

jan,
forgot about this one

Liz..now what's on you agenda with the cement..or should I guess....up early this morning, everything under control..couple of girlfriends having yard sales so guess that's where I'm heading...might even drop in and pick up BIL as my girlfriend picked up another girlfriends husbands tools, he passed on a few years ago so might be some bargoons for BIL in tool dept. or for Betty..who knws...flower color is beautiful..do you container garden a lot?

Araness...you are so very very lucky not to have done more damage to yourself..wow..made me laugh, but no laughing matter for sure..laughed more because of how visual you made it all sound...back about 10 years ago I was cutting lawn with riding mower..ran out of gas, gas tank in front of hood, filled it up and guess engine was hot/hot/hot...because I am so short, had to lean over to turn key and when I did, just for a split second I saw a spark and pushed back...got thrown from the lawnmower and it burnt to the ground..new John Deere two days later...fire dept. said I was a lucky girl..just minor burns and bruises...BUT almost said I was a fool..automotic instinct was to try to get the gas can I had set near the lawnmower so it wouldn't explode..could see the can swelling...guess I was 'stupid' even thinking of doing it..but in the end I didn't .. thank 'God' so moral of our stories is that even though working with propane/gas etc seems every day
function, we must be very cautious!

Tropicanna...day #1 of quitting smoking for you..yep..you can do it...

Makes me shudder when I see how much insurance you all have to pay...my goodness, we don't know how well off we are....we just show up at hospital or doctors and our needs are all met...what a bonus..feel sorry for those who cannot afford such premiums..they surely must go without health care!

Bluekat...congrats on 'quitting drinkig'...at some point we all have to take the initiave to take out of our lives that which is not adding to it....
Laura, are you painting DD house or crafts..enjoy those little ones..

101...isn't that wonderful news about your friend getting a child...

Had posted last night but it's now in cyberspace...don't you just hate it when that happens...

My morning to water, so sprinkler is on...the way the wind came up last night you could almost feel the rain..but, none and none expected for a few more days....

Well better go try to make myself 'pretty' hmmmm and off I go...

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

Thank you Betty! I learned the hard way to write my posts (if they are long) in Word or my email program and cut and paste into the reply box. Maybe it sounds like too much trouble but I have so many windows open what is one more.

Araness - Thank heavens you are safe. Now, where is the picture of you non existent eyelashes? Serge and Zapita still love you no matter.

I picked a few ripe tomatoes! Black Cherry, Nyagous, German Red Strawberry, Kellogg's Breakfast, Aunt Gerties Gold, Sungold and Green Zebra. Wrong forum I know.

Susan, no containers for the garlic but it shouldn't be a problem unless water and nutrients get to be a problem - that or heaving in the winter if the pots freeze.

Best: Friends arrived yesterday and we are having a wonderful time just being together. Lisa and I were up until almost 2am babbling away like teenagers. Fun. Another 24 hours sober. Thanks to everyone for their support - I like it!

Worst: this heat and a friend of mine trying to work himself to death. Men.

Learned: Can't change anything or anyone except yourself - what is that saying.."Be the change you wish to see in the world" I kinda get it now.

Off to market soon - time to wake the houseguests.

Pacifica, CA

morning all,
betty, i have to do container gardening on anything thats going to get big i have run out of groud space and dh is always on my back to get the gardners to cut back things he says i'd like to get a bobcat in the frount yard and level it all out...i wish he would just go worry about the next semi truck motor to build and not worry what im doing have fun at the yard sales

we have to go to the dumps so while no one is looking im going to snoop around
liz

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Ohhhh, Betty, that's just a cruel thought...remember I'm cutting down soda too.....did I mention I hardly ever allow myself chocolate anymore...I used to gorge on the darkest chocolate nightly...been tryng to exercise more, too..lol

Really, I would quit but the boyfriend won't---we've been thru this before---I've quit and he didn't...breeds too much resentment for me.

bluekat-it sounds like you and your friends had a good time, I am so glad yu have good supports.

Wonder, I'll amen ya, you know why (besides the morning breath huffin..lol)......

I had a dream last night that I had four boyfriends---4---the dream was kinda nice for awhile but then they all were going to come over for some date at once....oooohhh....kinda scary. What's totally bizarre is that one of my boyfriends was (here comes the laughter) a famous racecar driver that I don't think is hot and I don't like racing and everyone hates him and says he's gay by the name of Jeff Gordon..lol...and he was the best kisser in my dream, too.

Weird....

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

then we have a chorus of amen!
we love em tho....

i was thinking tangie, maybe i need a little dried manure and bone meal with a little drink????? hahahahahhah

best? spending the day with my youngest DD
worst? ummmmm no worst..... its all good.

so glad your all enjoying your gardens and such.. love the pics betty.... you know i was reading back overthings... your such a crack up!!!
gimme more stories! gimme gimme gimme,,,,

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hi there, am back..did about 4 lawnsales, now what did I get....

2 beautiful solar lights on stands $5.00 pair
2 rusty tin flower pots $3.00 pair
Metal pot holder $1.00
Nice metal bakers rack $5.00 will use it on back deck
Ground twister $5.00
Silk bags (20) $1.00
Set of wrenches $ 3.00
Plants $10.00

(you knew those rusty tin flower pots and metal plant stand needed plants..lol)

Looked at nice table/chair set for back deck..had bought an antique set 2 weeks ago..ended up putting it in the tree hollow sitting area...so, it was $40.00 - girlfriend was selling it..decided against it...lo and behold she just called said it did not sell and her and Mike would drop it off over the weekend..no charge..she just wants to get rid of it..

sooo entertained myself for $33.00 and got a lot of bargoons.....

So now it's 10:30 a.m. and what will I do with the rest of the day and then tomorrow and Monday...have next week all planned out...what to do, oh what to do...

So, look outside at the back deck, now it's starting to look pretty so a floorcloth would look nice under the table..lightbulb goes off..why not take the one from under dining room table, put it outside and paint a new more colorful one for the dining room...

So..now I'm at Home Depot, purchasing new 6' X 8' roll of linoleum to paint the backside into a 'work of art' - need a gallon of paint (white) quart of black, quart of red...3 rolls of tape, rollers, Flecto verathane and at a nice price of $104.28 I'll have a new treasure...nutz/nutz/nutz...

I'll have to put photo's of how I'm progressing...cleaning of craft table, putting all six together, laying out the linoleum ready for basecoat...let's see how creative I can be....

So, all you wonderful people, you seem to all have something special in the works, wether it be inside or out..so, I'll sign off till next time I need a break..must change into some paint clothes...

Oh, must tell you, girlfriend bought me an outfit when in Florida, black with large hot pink flowers...must of had 15 men say how nice I looked and even about 4 women (all who were strangers to me) sure made my day..have to get Liz to do more shopping for me...lol...

Victoria Harbour, ON

So, now have the rolled linoleum wrong side up so I can paint...thought I'd include a few steps so if any of you wish to paint something creative for your floor, you'll get a few ideas as to how I procede...

Because it was rolled I had to put something heavy on each corner till the roll relaxes, then I'll add Flecto to equal amounts of water...seal surface...then you are ready to basecoat in color of choice..I'm doing white, because I want white and black square with border of red

Araness, that is scary but histerical in light of the fact that you are ok. You and Betty are two peas in a pod. lol I drew eyebrows for a while when i decided to dress up for a holloween party like a tatooed and pierced girl and i had the brilliant idea to use a low temp glue gun to glue a stud off of a broken earring on my eyebrow, well needless to say, removal was just that.

Elaine, that is a great prayer and I held my hand over your scriptures and laid claim on it for my own career dilema. Congrats to your friend.

BLUE I am very proud of you. That is a good thing especially since you had that surgury, it is so counterproductive to have all those alcohol calories. My friend who is a PT told me that once you drink alcohol, all the food you have no digested, will immediatly stop metabolising and will not start again until your alcohol is metabolized first. So people who eat late to absorb the alcohol may start digesting the calories from the food they ate the night before, before they even start the next day, which sucks.

My DH stopped in October , two years ago. Glad you have support.

Good deals B

Don`t worry Trop, Jeff Gordon is married and just had his first kid. They say he is gay because his team is called the rainbow warriors because his sponsor is Dupont paint. lol

Laura, sure wish you could shake this bug..you didn't go to DD's did you...would hate to see those little ones catch it..hope everyone in the household is spoiling you, got you tucked into bed, feeding you soup etc.
that's what you need, tender loving care! That's why I don't get sick - on my own, no one to spoil me....dizziness doesn't count for sick...lol...I know, doctor's this week right?

Dawn, can imagine you in all the get up...there was a lady from the area who let's just say didn't leave much to the imagination...the called her 'Muskrat' now that tells you something doesn't it..she fell into the lake at the locks one time and emergency rescue came and nobody wanted to give her mouth-to-mouth and be tagged as the one who did it...anyway, we were having a Halloween Dance at the hall, I organized it and didn't she come to my house and say no one would help dress her up..so my girlfriend led on by DH got her dressed as a belly dancer..now I had costume jewelry and we took a large gem, how to get it to stick to forehead sooo got out silicone...worked A+..all done in fun..sooo she goes to the dance, ends up drinking far more than she should, goes on 2 day binge and when she went to take stone off her forehead was infected...sushhhh, didn't mean to hurt her....

Blu...praying for you girl...hard thing to do but am sure you'll make it this time! Proud of you for sure...

Well, got waylaid the past few hours...Bernice came over and showed me what I should be doing to all the plants that are no longer in bloom, walked her garden, will go this week and get some plants..putting up their house - Bed and Breakfast..for sale to move north..I'll sure miss her..she thinks the back gardens could be a negative feature more than a positive..told her if that was the case with regards to perpective buyer..tell them I'll come and dig everything up..lol...showplace garden she has...

Then Mike and Darlene came over..brought me lovely glass table and wicker chairs for back deck..looks pretty so had to put the set in the far back of yard..now it houses 3 sets...enough place to sit about 30 people...you'd think I could take advantage of the seating wouldn't you..

Well I'm now off to pick up fish/chips again next door restaurant..I'll eat, give another white basecoat to the floormatt so I can paint black square tomorrow...

be back in a few minutes..have something that I'm excited about...

Victoria Harbour, ON

ok...well as some of you know, Bernice and Cliff have a B&B for about 9 yrs. and this year they no longer operate it..it's called 'Beyond the Garden Gate' and they have beautiful hand painted sign...

Well Bernice came over tonight and said 'why don't you take over the B&B, I said it's something that would appeal to me, just not sure it's nice enough for that..well she said it was and encouraged me to call the 2 local hotels and tell them I had vacancies tonight and tomorrow night should they not have rooms...the moment I called the 2nd location they sent over a woman and a young daughter...then I have another couple coming in around 11:00...so I room to go but 2 within 1 hr. of starting up a B&B is excellent..more money for flowers and plants..lol...

So, I'd better be quiet, never did this before and I have to get up early and make something to eat..did explain to them though that because I had not anticipated having anyone that the breakfast wouldn't be extravagent and fee would reflect that...so, as you can tell I'm excited...have a booking for Aug. 25th as well...

Morning all,

Well guests have arrived, already found a drawback to B&B, I'm always up so early raring to go, but not able to this morning...went into laundry room downstairs to do load of wash, my regular routine, but's it right under a bedroom so that's a no/no...I'm downstairs in my craft room, will stay quiet till everyone is moving around...thank goodness I've got the floormatt to play with...but just think, I can spend my B&B $$$$ and smile..lol...

I really won't get into it till next spring..will set myself up and do it correctly if I'm going to do it..

Liz, my house is very modest, country decorated, cute but nothing special..one thing it has going for it is it's clean AND pretty decks and yard..most come in later in the evening and leave by mid morning so what more would they need!
