your so lucky

Victoria Harbour, ON

Liz - love the planter..very creative..starting to have same problem here, no rain, water band is on and everything is dying..flowers/grass etc. - makes one so sad..so much work, money spent on new garden treasures only to have them all die...thinking of your peach trees and all that comes to mind is jam/jam/jam....

Carole...how are you feeling..hope a good night sleep and a nap yesterday sent the cold/cough away....summer colds are the worst aren't they..seems like the last forever..sure hope today is a better day for you...

Dawn..spoil that guy of yours The are precious aren't they...especially when they are ill!!!lol

Araness...how did the weekend go...

Jeannine..your vacation sounds wonderful! Always nice to spend time on the water... Guess you are well rested after you vacation and ready to take on new initiatives...
will send a few prayers your way in hopes that the nursery manager see's what potential you have and ups his wages....can't wait to view the photo's!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a great visit with Gillian and her family...they graciously allowed me to ask hundreds of questions pertaining to their lives in the far north...Ella (baby) is so adorable and Senora, well, she could stay with me and we could craft/craft/craft!!!! Ian is a sweetheart, reminds me of my grandsons...Keith I think was a bit apprehensive about just dropping in on a complete stranger but he adjusted and I hope he enjoyed his stay as I hope they all did...and no...didn't burn supper...so that was a bonus...

We went to bed about 11:00 and they were all tucked in this morning when I left for work.....all the ladies/guys arrived at my home about 9am to paint..had warned Keith and Gillian about open door concept..I called to see how things went this morning and my girlfriend said they had just left but were all downstairs to see what wonders they were doing...Senora (Gillian's daughter) wanted to stay and paint...but they are now on their way to 'Santa's Village' and then the long 2 day trek home..praying for a safe and uneventful voyage...

When I called this morning to check up on all of them my girlfriend said everyone was asking on which side of the family my visitors were from...I simply said ' just met them yesterday' of course they know me so they got quite a laugh!

They were so sweet, brought me a lovely hand carved piece..I'll cherish it...such a kind thought...

I asked Keith, now what do you spouses think when we DG members bring up visiting strangers...he kindly said that Gillian can read people very easily so he trusted her vibes about the visit...

So, from my 1st experience, I'd gladly invite any DG member who is passing through town for a visit...
p.s. just notice in the photo's you can see my unfinished wall...contractors got new window in but haven't drywalled where the old ones were taken out...yukky...lol

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Sounds as if you all had great weekends, and betty....what a great gift to have gillian and her family with you. And a lovely family it is....how fun!!! beautiful children.
all was well here, and I took my first little boating trip with alyn and ethan on saturday. Had not been on the water without DH ever....but Alyn keeps his little 23' sea ray here since he visits me every couple of weeks. and Ethan loves it.
Of course we had to also spend time with ethan's yard work with his loader, so it was a busy awesome weekend.
funniest thing that happened....on saturday night, after a long day on the water, alyn left to visit friends, Ethan was supposed to be asleep, but got up and said Nana, I think I am hungry. so we had a little fresh strawberry snack, then decided to read awhile...by this time it was 10 pm, and I said let's turn the lights off and tell stories, well, he agreed to that, so we told stories about the day on the boat and about kitties and doggies, and then we justkept on rocking, by 11:30 I was getting groggy, ethan turned around and put his head on my shoulder, said "nite nite, Nana, I love you, but keep on rocking"........cute.
He was asleep in about 2 minutes and I carried him to bed.....we didn't tell his dad how late we stayed up, just kept it a secret........but alyn wondered why he was sleeping late yesteday morning!!!!!! Here is a picture on the beach where we stopped so Ethan could build a sand castle:

Oh Shar he's adorable...what a photo..it's one you should have framed...know it brought back memories but it's nice being on the water isn't it..sure did enjoy my evening out on Friday...

Out of the mouth of babes...'keep on rockin' now that's something we all must do...very profound....know you miss them but they'll be back soon....

Greg/Mel and boys went out on Sat. and Jeff came and spent Sat. night with Braedon and Caleb and on Sunday he went out for the day...actually I was very pleased that Gillian got to meet my 4 grandsons and Jeff..Greg was golfing so didn't get to meet them...

So glad you enjoyed the weekend...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning everyone!!

Wow, looks like everyone had a great weekend.

I will start with Betty, Oh-Oh Oh, I am so very happy for you. A long time waiting for the Foxy Lady-She is beautiful! Thank you for taking us on the first cruise.
I am so glad you were able to finally get the screening for gazeebo, too, sounds like just in time for Gillibean and family's visit. I am so happy for you all to get to meet, not to mention just a tad bit jealous, lol... I love the photos, great family.

Gillibean, So happy you got to meet Betty, Can't wait to hear all about your visit! And hoping your trip home is safe and happy.

Jeannine-Sounds like you had a great vacation and well sure sounds like Murph did too. That would have made a great photo "Catch of the day"

Laura, I am hoping the days are much better for all of you-bummer to hear your under the weather.

Carole, I hate summer colds! Hope you feel much better-Try and sit in the sun and soak out the nasty cold. Yes I will post the recipe this afternoon for diaper cake.

Hi Dyson and Frank.

Tangi, awe, thanks for missing my blabby self! That is so sweet. I am hoping to get new HC by end of this month-kids will need it for school any way. Plus, I have to say to you, Your gardens are spectacular-One day, mine will be at least pretty! LOL-I have been weeding galore.

Kim, Oh my gosh a visit from mom-I am so thrilled for you! I hope that your trip to Baltimore was(is) wonderful. Take lots of pics. looking forward to hearing all about it-Love each other up, Lots of hugs etc.

Shar, Oh my gosh, Ethan is just adorable! I am glad you got to spend the weekend with him. I, love the the beach picture.

Dawn, Good to see you Back!! Glad you and Greg are doing well and on the mend.

oh gosh, I am sure lots more to post, but um , got to go backand re-read. LOL.

So did you all notice I used everyone's actual names...(well mostly) This weekend i say down and tried to recall, names with dg names, I am on a mission to get it right for change. So I sat with a piece of paper and pen, Also -It was my way of being with you all since no computer on weekends...Kept going remember Judy remember...

We went to house over weekend, I am still emotionally drained so , I stay out on deck and and just appreciated all that I have and ponder in the quiet of the birds singing, watch the lake's gentle ripple in the soft breezes. How mezmorizing this can be, very easy for one to get lost in the beauty of nature.
Also, I got to read many chapters, in a book I've been trying to read for months! Hours spent in the tranquillty gave me a huge brainstorm on the landscape job I am doing. So took out my blueprint and behold put my ideas to paper...and Woohoo, I think I'm on to something!

Thank you all, for helping me to support Alissa. She is doing well, plenty of rest since she has been on some hefty pain killers. Julia will visit with her today and maybe I'll get to see her this evening. I told her how I've been "talking" about her to my friends and she too, appreciates your support.

geesh, making up for lost time I guess, so I'll close this book and let someone else make a long post! LOL thanks for listening.-LOL although probably 5 more posts since I started!

Have a great day!
Judy

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hello Judy, so glad you got a few secs. to post..sounds like you accomplished much over the weekend...must be nice sitting on the deck overlooking the best Mother Nature had to offer...Gillian is hoping to be home late Wednesday..quite a trek...hope I didn't talk their ear off...lol...
So do wish you all live closer...but, for now, thankful that we are all on DG...

Amen to you getting new computer...it's not that I use it a whole lot when at home, but just the knowledge of not having one when it's down, is just soooo depressing...lol...but then there is the telephone right?

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I love that about Betty, she is such a giver of herself. How nice for you and Gillian to meet too.

sounds like a good weekend for most of you. Bad Shar! lol he is so precious, I can see why you spoil him.

I love to take those kind of trips that you can read and relax and see nature but i can not do it long or i`ll get bored unless there is a nice place to go to dinner nearbye. I do not want to cook most of the trip because i always cook.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dawn, you are my kind of gal..I hate cooking as well..my concern today is this....
Started to diet (yes I did) but have enough food from yesterday to feed 10 people at least and stawberry shortcakes to boot..now what?

Glenview, IL

Hey, I hear you on the no cooking deal! Funny it's not that I don't enjoy it, it's that the work involved...such a mess, haha, DH-hate me in the kitchen while he cooks cause I am right behind him cleaning up, he is always saying "What happened to that spoon I just had?" I say well I washed it! and out of the kichen I go.

Mmmm, Betty-strawberry shortcake-yow there's a desert I can chow on! Extra whip cream please.

Dawn, We had company too-so I enjoy sitting around visiting as well.

So...Hows your day going?
Judy

Victoria Harbour, ON

Been a good girl so far, only had 1 coffee no sugar..we're off to lunch but my problem is when I get home...cooked for about 10 people soooo how to get rid of extra..just had a thought, maybe call Greg/Mel and the boys over..saves her cooking and me throwing it away in garbage can lol...

Glenview, IL

OK, got to play mom here, I heard nothing of a substancial meal in that breakfast. Fruit! Good start, coffee no sugar is good. decaf? I am not a dieter myself, Mostly just watch the junk I eat-not much of that-I allow one can of pop RC thanks, a day. Bummer thing about us is we eat real late! So my meals are in and around that- Breakfast at 10, lunch 12:30-1:00,
light snack at 4ish, dinner...don't scream at 8:30 or 9! Water in the eves.

school year it will shift to a normal time-

For dinner -yeah invite everyone over-would hate to see all that good food go to waste.

...So call me a nag, but did you make a certain call today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

ooooppppps forgot all about it, even though I felt a little dizzy this a.m.

Glenview, IL

C'mon now...pick up the phone and make the call.

P.S. I am well known to be quite persistant, on such matters.

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Betty. AND??????

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Hi Judy! So busy at work today. No time to chat. Pooh! Just wanted to send you a few hugs....you are doing really, really, well.

Try to bbl....Jan

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Oh i hate when i`m being good and spent a lot of money on food that is still there. i force DG to eat it all real fast before i buckle or i will eat small tiny amounts to keep me from feeling the crave and will give away or freze what I can. I feel more dinners in your future B.

I`m glad everyone was so social this week, I have been in Greg prison. lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Both of you will be out dancing in the streets before long...

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Can't seem to catch more than a free second today. Was looking forward to coming home and catching up ...maybe later tonite.

DH (The D denoting Dear, at the moment. Later tonite, if I type DH... the D may NOT mean the same) Anyway, he has consented to a brief computer lesson.....he's been putting off learning a specific thing that he's NEEDED to learn for literally months and he says now is the time. We'll see ;o)

Oh, and look who was waiting to greet me when I arrived home from work today......

Wow, wow and wow, Jan what is that Beauty??

Best Had a good day, very busy

howdie

best?
lost a little more this week, 1lb 7oz
worst?
havnt been feeling the best but on the mend.

sorry i havent been chatty but will get back into it soon.
Ihave been reading all your posts tho. be lost without them!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow Tangie, you surely must have a green thumb...gardens are so nice to come home to...good luck on DH's computer lesson..should be like teaching mate to drive...get someone professional to do so...lol

Judy, glad you had a busy day...was quite busy at work as well...did call Doctor's office and you'll not believe this..he's on holidays the same week..so, if I'm off and not feeling the best, I'll just go to a walk in clinic...

Laura, please get better, we sure do miss your posts..

Actually I just can't wait for winter...maybe you will be on more so I can have someone to play with...

Shar....you must be resting today, but more than likely 'sad' because Ethan and son have returned home...we understand, takes a few days to get back to normal...just think though of all the excitement you have when you prepare for their arrival...keeping you in my prayers...

Best of today: getting a beautiful picture hand drawn by Sanoma (?) of a unicorn which was attached to my refrigerator...love young artists!!!

Worse of the day: bumper to bumper traffic coming home..there had been another major accident on the Hwy 400 and work crew were repairing guardrails...so didn't get home till much before 7pm..almost bedtime...

What did I learn: that my boss is a scatter brain sometimes...his daughter who keeps her relationship with her dad solely business like, asked us if her dad had decided when we might take vacation...hello..Paul had forgotten to tell her that we're on vacation next week..now she has to see if her better half can get same week..think we girls will have to gossip more so everyone knows what's going on...lol...

So I'm off...might come down and check the threads one more time before bedtime...if not, sure do like talking with you all..have a great night and look forward to your next post!!!

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Going back only to the beginning of this thread. Thought I was so smart, posting in word and doing a double screen so I can refer back. So smart, I forgot Betty had to move us over here only today. Drat!

Gillian and family are beautiful. So glad a good time was hade by one and all. The children are adorable. Such great names. If my little DGD wasn’t already an Addison, I think I might have to push a little harder for Ella, which was in the running last year when we were tossing names around on a daily basis. Safe trip home for Gillian and hers.

But, Betty dear, I can’t help but notice a glaring omission in your posts of today. May one assume you will be calling the Dr tomorrow then?

Oh good! Betty’s post reminded me of your dove, Liz! SO glad, as I think that is about the neatest thing ever, that she trusts in you enough to nest there. Thank you so much for posting about her and including pictures. I loved them. And what I wouldn’t give to have a peach tree half as nice as yours.

Shar, Ethan is a perfect angel. He is already smarter than many of the adults I deal with on a daily basis. You must be, and should be, so very proud of him, and Alyn, too. I’m so lucky, my two favorite things all in one picture. What could be better for the soul than a breathtaking baby boy (though I know he’d probably protest that he’s a BIG boy, lol) romping on the beach?

Being on the water. One more “first” to have to turn around to see, instead of having it in front of you yet. I hope it wasn’t too hard or too “soon” for you, in retrospect.

Look who’s back! *Waves excitedly at Jeannine* ROFLOL A four month old puppy! What the *H* where you thinking? You must NEED a vacation after your vacation! I’ll run back and check after I post this but I think you posted a link for pics? I hope so! If I’m confused and you didn’t post one…just slap me.

Judy…so good to read your post and “see” you getting stronger and excited about your project! When you’re ready to share…well, looking forward to it! So glad you got to read. Just the fact that you were able to focus well enough to get lost in it and appreciate your beautiful surroundings speaks volumes.

The flower you asked about is “Southern Belle” A hardy hibiscus. She has two sisters that came home the same time she did and they are loaded with buds, too. Not sure of their colors as SB’s can be rose, pink or white. So we shall see. Also, glad to hear Allisa is progressing. I hope you’ll keep us posted.

Dawn, lol! Greg prison. I love it! Though I sympathize, too. Hope you had a good day and are feeling well (and still managing to keep your distance, if necessary ;o) A nice long (think hour or two) bubble bath works well at my house. A book, a cold drink, door closed, fan on (for some white noise so you can honestly say “No dear, I’m sorry…I didn’t hear you”) candle burning…well. You get the idea.

Laura! Keeping best thoughts for you to continue to mend. And that you find some small pleasure in whatever reading you feel up to. More weight lost this week! Excellent news. Congrats on moving forward towards your goals! To me, you are already perfectly wonderful, just so you know!

Um…I’ve just talked myself into a bath, lol. I’ll save my best and worst for the morning.

Night, all. Sleep well, everyone and Laura….may you wake up to a fresh new beautiful day.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Tang I definatly relate to the white noise thing and the relaxing bath. The puppy on vacation would be a major pain but the alternative of not being able to go w/out him is worse to me. My friend won`t leave for two years with a puppy. uhg. I `d kill myself if i was stuck here for two years.

Best and worst thing was I finally got that darn breast biopsy and it bleed so much my dh looked pale and closed his eyes. he got his bandages off his arm so maybe i get a get out of jail free card for a bit soon.

B what are you going to do with all the food now?

Pacifica, CA

everyone have a wonderful evening my evening is still going its 8.00 and the dogs still have to be walked i think maby i can rest after that. liz

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Best - my wife still loves me as I still do her.

Worst - friends will still mess with your head and cannot be trusted under any circumstance.

This is difficult to digest, but has been proven many times in the past.

Maybe my skin is to darn thick?

Sorry for a rant, in this forum.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Dyson people are human and we pick our friends, maybe your picker is broken when it comes to friends and maybe you have a false expectation of them, too high or low. Do you give what you expect them to give? If not then do not be so judgemental, if you do then you have a right to have the same energy put into you as you put into your friends. It is hard to find a real true friend that gives what you give even if they have different strengths than you do, they atleast have to add more to the friendship t than they take.

Thank you Liz

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

aww tangie, thanks your sooo sweet.

feeling a lot better today.
Dyson, I understand how you feel and dont feel bad about posting. we all have times that we rant and rave and it all falls on understanding ears.

It is very hard to get your head around hurt that friends inflict. I know how this is and I have looked at it the way helln suggests and i found that my values and expectations were different. I believe that if someone is a friend, a trusted friend, even a life time friend that I have expectations of trust, understanding and so on. But the thing is, we are all human and there for often flawed in ways. How do we get around this without becoming synical or suspicious. hmmm a hard one.

I guess by keep on keeping on, use your wisdom in terms of what you tell them or what you give without being selfish or suspicious. wisdom enables us to do this... how do we get wisdom? by going through what you are, learning and not becoming like them but careful.

as you can see i have no magic answers but i do understand. i think many of us have been there. but if your a giving person like so many on here, you cant hold back for long. as the pain heals you begin to give again.... and so the world turns.

always feel free to chat here as i am sure the others will say.

Hello and hugs to everyone

xx

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

OH my...I unwatched for a day and look how busy y'all have been...

Best: got a surprise box from one of my traders in Puerto Rico--my boyfriend calls him my "boyfriend"...lol...he does know the kind of things I like....lol

Worst: no worst

What I learned: don't get in a hurry

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Morning All,

Just a quick hello as I am heading out on a "fun day" for work. We're going to Busch Gardens for the day and we've organized a scavenger hunt there. Should be fun.

Liz, the terrier in the picture belonged to someone just visiting the fish. She had a tough time holding on to him. He wanted those fish BAD!

I'll be back tonight to chat. Y'all have a great day!!

J

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeannine...enjoyed viewing the photos...Murphy is adorable as is your family!!!
We have many of the same homes on the bay..and like you one has to wonder what their real 'homes' look like...

Day in Busch Gardens...isn't that a long way from home? hope the weather co-operates...

Tropicanna...now tell us what was in the box from Puerto Rico...boyfriend there couldn't do much damage here could he....let him keep sending those gifts...lucky girl...

Dyson, that's what this thread is all about..being able to be you..good times and bad times...we all have them...it does tear the heart right out of you when you are disappointed in friends..I always try to give 100% of myself and perhaps not everyone is able or wants to do same, so yes, sometimes one is disappointed but you must not let that deter you from trusting in others...the other may just be around the corner and turn out to be your best friend for life...

Laura, sounds like you are back on the mend...that's great...you haven't mentioned the job of late, how's it going..still a struggle or is it improving? What are the family up to this week...our children are all out on 2 month summer break, do you have your break at same time?

Dawn, how are you and Greg doing this morning...hope you are not in any pain and that Greg is now looking after you as well as you did last week for him...

Liz, everytime you mention those peaches, my mouth starts watering? Guess I'll have to stop at Zehrs tonight to pick some up....

Hi there Judy, hope you have time away from work to play...Jeannine has beautiful pictures to share..family is adorable...I'm sure no stress after that day out!

Well, I'm going to put my head back, close my eyes and rest awhile...so we'll gab later today!!!!

Have a great day! Enjoy the sunshine and if it's not in your area today, enjoy lazing around...

Froggies_girl...came across this poem and thought of you...

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Betty-I have to say that I do not see how you can remember what people talk about by the time you've read all the posts....I couldn't keep up with everyone so well. You do a great job...so sorry anyone I don't address directly, I have early-onset Alzheimer's and I'm blonde on top of it....lol.

My surprise box from Puerto Rico had 2 globbas (gingers), a new colocasia (elephant ear), allamandas, cuphea, hibiscus, and some other exotic thing I can't spell right now...lol. He knows what I really like probably better than anyone, but we've traded steadily for over a year now and are inside each other's heads pretty well.

The daughter cracked me up one day I was singing a song...some line about "you're my queen"--which I sang as "king" instead. DD asked me, "Mommy, who's your king?"---I said, "well, your daddy, honey"---she goes, "But I thought your boyfriend was in Puerto Rico"....all sad...I laughed and explained.

Here's a picture taken from DD's camp---I had nothing to do with it, but thought it was funny.

hello,
yes definatly on the mend.
as for work, its a kind of 'pitch and toss' thang.

The situation was as you know that the manager had a problem with my weight. she doesnt like me much as i am outspoken andi dont usually let people walk over me. however, what ever i say i always say with respect.

i was supposed to do the training to become a licence tester, you know, sit in the car and take them on a test. well she said i was too big to get in and out of the cars which was absurd and discriminatory. i called her on it saying that and after much to do, she said well i cant stop you all together but you wont be doing it for a few years if i can help it.

hmmm... well i went on holidays and i receieved a call from anotehr manager at my work asking me if i would like to do the training this week! you see, they had hired some new staff that they needed to train and they couldnt train them without me as it would show they were discriminating and i could sue them so today i start my training! I won! lol
she is still doing everything she can to make it difficult for me to stay without incriminating herself but im pretty tenacious.

As for summer holidays, our summer is over xmas so the kids get their big break from about december 22nd to feb2nd. not as long as yours butthey do get 2 weeks at easter, 2 weeks in june and 2 weeks in september plus all the public holidays and long weekends. lucky them!

my DD has copied some photos for me onto a disk of the baby so as soon as i get them i will post an updated pic.

best thing? studying to be a tester just like everyone else.
worst thing? she failed me on other criteria so i cant get my pay rise stating that i hadnt kept enough paper work to prove that i am familiar with the process and procedures of work. she had asked me to do my reports a certain way and then in the meeting she said no i want this now so you fail and dont get your pay rise. with a smirk on her face!
it will bite her in the hynnie eventually i think.

have a great day all

xx

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well, it's that time of night for me....slept on the way home, not much company for Suzanne but she knew I wasn't up to par...so, early night tonight...

Best thing: my girlfriend Ann dropped by and played t.v. bingo..nope, no winnings to share, had hoped though...

Worse thing: called some DG friends and they weren't home..roadrunner that they are....lol

What did I learn....brother in law paid us today..usually it's on Thursday..no appts. tomorrow for him so I have a feeling he'll not be in..we are all taking bets on it...funny, his daughter that works in the office next door to ours is NEVER on time, anyway, he told us 2 weeks ago about our vacation and forgot to tell her...I jokingly mentioned it to him and I couldn't believe he had done that so when she came in this morning and Paul and I were talking, she asked him about next week, he simply said 'if you'd come in on time you'd have attended the Monday morning meeting and you'd know' well, we've never had a meeting, but think he caught her off guard...we just laughed...so if her hubby can't get holidays next week with such short notice, then Paul told her to take hers another week...

So nothing much today..am tired, so off I go
Sending angels to watch over you all tonight...bye for now

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Nite, betty.....glad I was home when you called, was wonderful to talk with you as always.
Nothing exciting today....did shop a little bit for my daughter, and had some nice visits from neighbors......AND...... of all things, my doctor ordered a test last week for oxygen levels during sleep. did it and forgot about it.
Yesterday I got a call from the company who did the test, said I had a 72% oxygen level when i sleep, and the necessary is 96 to 100%.
so this afternoon my doctor had ordered a home medic person to come to my house install this black thingy to which is attached a long plastic tube which of course attaches to my nose through which I will inhale oxygen all night long......HA!!!!! UNLESS I GET TANGLED IN THE TUBING IN WHICH CASE I WILL STRANGLE MYSELF WITH OR WITH OUT THE OXYGEN. GEESH.....sure am glad I have no bed partner. Now I cannot imagine waking in the morning with two cats and me tangled in this 25 feet of tubing......
If you fail to hear from me in the next few days, you will know I am still trying to untangle myself.

Nothing bad happened....all is good, and I learned that though I thought i was fine, the headache that I have in the morning and the often interrupted sleep that I get at night has a source, and can be fixed!
so.....have a good evening, and hopefully I will be around to write tomorrow night......
sharon.......

and no...I didn't get a notebook today....but promise will do better so I can keep up with you tomorrow.
