New pop ups for thumnails?

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Drat. I never have liked the text beside the pic - especially if it's a longer post. I liked the new way pics were being displayed. Made it easier to make posts where I wanted to talk about or point out specific traits about a pic/plant, not to mention the whole "losing what you've already typed when you click a pic" thing. That's extremely annoying.

bummer. This was a cool change. :(

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I noticed the new stuff was gone. I see it's just a test. For me - on hi-speed lite (100 Mbps/sec) it was definitely slower than it had been before, but I was getting along just fine clicking on the Post # (except when I forgot). So, in the end, I don't have real strong feelings one way or the other.

I'm going to put the new stuff back up, but it will be alongside a preference option to turn it off to go back to the "old way". Once the preference feature is in, I'll re-enable the new features.

Yay! Thanks Dave. U R the Best!

Yayyy...I just knew you could come up with a way to please everybody!!!!

So. Puget Sound, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow Dave, worthy of Solomon!

White Lake, ON(Zone 4b)

Dave, that's great. I'm still on dial up (no choice) and the new option definitely slowed things down when opening a thread. Things are back to normal now.

So, I'm hoping that when you implement the choice in preferences it won't slow things down again as a whole. If I choose the old option, will I avoid the slowness, or will the implementation of the preference option make it slow again? If you know what I'm trying to say?

Necedah, WI(Zone 4b)

wow- you're good!!

sanannie, the preference option will have no impact on the speed of the site. If you disable the option the site will be identical to how it is as of this moment.

Only those who enable the option will deal with potentially slower loads (but apparently the slowness isn't noticeable on broadband connections)

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Got broadband, liked the feature, did not notice a slowdown, but if enabled could see how it may affect dial-up load times. Thank you.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Have broadband and loading the photos by clicking on them was way slower. I just opted to click on the post # instead.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I absolutely loved the new feature. Will be one of the first to option for it.

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

i'm not getting the "click on the screen name thing" like everyone else is... whats wrong w/ me?

Hooks, TX

WOW !!!! The last five minutes have taken on a lightning speed! Like never before----------- I don't know why but it is much nicer.
Thanks, Dave,

Louise

Thanks so much, Dave, for giving us that option. It's a great solution. It's wonderful how you keep ALL the people in your garden in mind when you make changes and you always ask our opinion.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

where is the option? I want to have the newer style

Pretoria, South Africa

Yes, can anyone please tell me how to turn on this new feature? I just love it.
Thanks

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I don't think Dave has turned the option on yet. I expect he's spending time with his family right now, so look again on Monday. :-)

Spent the day doing messy farm-yard work. I'll try to have the option in tomorrow.

No day of rest, Dave??

(Zone 7b)

Dave, thanks for keeping the old options as well.

Dave, do you raise livestock on your farm? That is the messy part of farming in my experience. In some what recent (20 years ago) times I had a milk goat. She was quite the friendlyy animal.

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

I would have happily lived with it either way but I am really, really, glad we'll have the option to choose. I personally very much like the "new" way pics load and will use that one.

Way to go Dave. Great job!

victorgardener, I'll rest after I'm dead. ;-)

George, yes-sir. We have a flock of about 50 laying hens (most hatches here on our ranch), as well as two goats (one providing us with half a gallon of milk a day). We started the day with 3 goats and ended with 2 live ones and one now being iced in the cooler and will be made into sausage.

I'm in the market for a dairy cow (Jersey preferably) as well as some pigs.

Cochise, AZ(Zone 8b)

You really need to add turkeys. They are very tasty!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Do you have a donkey or a llama to protect from the coyotes? My son lives in Tulsa and had goats....as they slowly decreased in numbers he bought a miniature donkey....cute,cute,cute......does the job.

Necedah, WI(Zone 4b)

Sounds like Dave's family is doing the decreasing ;)

Pretoria, South Africa

Dave,
Thanks so much. Will wait patiently... LOL!

Oooh, beautiful dog, Dave. Picture?
Our neighbors have a donkey and she is very entertaining and friendly.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Actually my son raised to GP puppies for that reason. When they were about 9 mos. old had to give them away. They would open 3 gates and heard the 4 horses out of his property.......just bored and they are herders.

I'll see about taking a picture today. :)

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

So, were the enhancements ever put back in as an option? :) If so, where? Thanks.

Diann

No; I've played around with it but it's not ready yet.

dave

Chester County, PA(Zone 6b)

Looking for them here, too. Waiting (not so :-) patiently......

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Okie dokies, just wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking something. :)

North Augusta, ON

Waiting here too........(fingers tapping)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Am I the only one that really, really liked the new picture pop-up? I keep waiting for the preference thing but it must be more difficult. It is all difficult for me so that is not a slam.

Hey, Dave. Put this on the question thing and let us vote........maybe?

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

I think he's working the bugs out of it. I sincerely doubt that he's ignoring us. :) I can understand him not wanting to put something up that doesn't work well for everyone.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

you're right.....I just hope he doesn't abandon the newer choice.
