Thanks Darius for the reminder...
Best Thing/Worse Thing and What did I learn today? Part 10
Betty,
I am sure you are feeling pretty rough after making it through this day. Just know that my prayers are right there with you.
sharon
so very terribly sorry for you and all his family and friends.
Well I've a migraine so I'll not sit and talk with you all tonight..today was indeed a bad day...I'll not recap my best/worse or what I learnt today...
It's funny how sometimes friends are more family than friends..Sue/Fred and their family have been part of our family for well over 25 years...not occasional visits, but on a day to day basis...I would say my BIL (boss) and he are blood brothers for lack of better description of the closeness shared....
Jason had a way of making everyone feel extra 'special'..he is indeed in my prayers and thoughts tonight.
Talking to Jeff (my youngest) tonight has left me numb..he is filled with anger towards Jason...the fact that he was loved, cherished and had everything to live for makes it so difficult for him to understand...I tried to console him but the rage he is fealing for what Jason has done to Sue/Fred and his sister has overwhelmed him...I told him that sometimes suicide victims do in fact ask for help in some ways, but to Jeff if the feeling of needing someone was so bad, he could have called and said ' hey, I need you, I've come to a point that I have a noose around my neck, I NEED YOU! Easier said than done though...
Everyone is hurting today and I'm sure for a long time...had it been due to illness, accident etc. it would have been difficult, but this way, there is no ending..
Let him understand the depression is not an illness of choice...I'm sure that when one decides to take their lives it is in a courageous effort to spare their loved ones for perhaps not meeting their standards, or their own standards etc.etc. not for a punishment..but because it is so overwhelming to continue on a day to day basis...I'm even sure that perhaps they know that things will get better, but they no longer have the strength to go through the daily living process....I don't know, I'm rambling, probably not making sense, so know that your thoughts and prayers are touching...and...I'll say goodnight
Dearest Betty...I am so very sorry. My P's and T's tonight and in the days and weeks to come are with you and your family.
I have no other words tonight. I am too sad.
Warm hugs,
Jan
I truly believe that anyone who takes their own life has an illness (mental illness is still illness) just like cancer, multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's Disease, etc. And if they were "well," they would not do it. I am more than sure that God understands that and takes the person into Heaven immediately.
betty,
so sorry sending prayers for you and the family such a tragedy makes me sad.
I hope I am not to late
But
I am also wishing you a Happy Birthday Laura,, Amazing Wonder down Under...
Loved your photos.
All are in my thoughts and Prayers.
All is quiet
Peaces upon all.
Judy
So sorry B. So sad.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Laura.
worst today~~My grandma passed from our earth full of pain and suffering, and has entered into heaven with the holies, including my dad and my grandpa. Can you imagine the look on her face when she see's my dad.
She has too be thinking George I left you back in nipomo. WHen did you get up here. Dad died1 month 28days before gram. That part is so difficult. We have lost them both now,

What I learned five women drinking wine and discussing child birth in front of a 16 year old girl could have some long lasting impressions. You should have see her face when we explained what a episimoty was and exactly what the cut. laughter all across the room

Morning all, had a good night sleep, woke up and a 'sunshine' day ahead..sorry for my depression mood yesterday..you were all so very kind...
Herbie...girlfriend who is into homeopathy brought me a book yesterday with all plants/herbs and their cures..will have to read what basil leaves are able to do...
o.k. went up and got my the book and looked up Basil..says it has healing ingredients of camphor..made into a tea it's excellent to alleviate stomach aches and colds...and in some countries they put a vase of basil on the table to rid the area of insects..hmmm both are worth a try right?
dwerland..sorry about your 'grandmother', they always seem to be the stabilizing factor in the family...a great loss for you..prayers are with you as well...can't imagine lol how that young girl will embrace childbirth after that...
Missed you all yesterday, you've all become a welcome joy into my life...
Enjoy the day...

everyone have a wonderful day liz
Good morning all,
Can't say much, can't stay long, certainly can't keep up, but wish
all of you well. Thought I would pop in to let you know I'm still here
and miss posting with you all.
Best thing?
Stopped by the Golden Rule Thrift store and found a bag
full of very nice hoity toity brand clothing with the tags still on
in a 75% off sale.
Worst thing?
I wore the absolute wrong shoes and did a lot of walking.
What I've learned?
Not to drive too closely behind a garbage truck on a hot
July afternoon.
What else I've learned?
Lip balm applied after it has been sitting in a car on a 97° day
is sort of like rubbing a hot melted crayon on your lips.
Going out to weed for a bit then jumping into the shower.
Take care, all!
hello all, thankyou for your best wishes.
betty thinking of your family and friends. those who take their lives are victims too, i think they are so desperate for a way out that they dont think of what is behind. god love them.
today was kinda quiet. hubby home sick, kids busy so didnt do anything. bit disappointing but oh well. there are worse things.
on a positive note, my mom sent me a scarf she knitted. she never gives me anything so i cant figure that and in two weeks i go see my brother. he called me and asked me tocome!
so quiet day..... ho humm
Morning All,
Betty, I'm glad you're feeling better. It's a new day.
Dwerland - So sorry for the loss of both your father and grandmother. I cannot imagine losing both within 2 mths. You're in my prayers.
I am also laughing my butt off! First because I LOVE playing bunco and I know what a group of women drinking and rolling dice can look like PLUS, I think your talks of childbirth, etc may be the best birth control available to these girls! Oh to be a fly on the wall!
And girl, we must be the only two Donny Osmond fans left from the 70's! I too LOVED purple - cause that was HIS favorite color. I also stopped (temporarily) drinking tea and coke cause it had caffeine and the Mormans didn't drink that. When he married that wench Debbie (just kidding!), my heart was broken! I have funny stories about DO. When I was about 12, the Harlem Globetrotters were coming to town. Also coming to town was DO. My dad told me he'd take me to whichever one I wanted to go to (I know he was crossing his fingers for the Globetrotters) but I broke his heart and he took me to see Donny Osmond! I was in heaven! I can still hear "And they called it Puppy Love......" My poor dad had to sit there in the middle of thousands of pre-pubescent girls screaming their lungs out just knowing he was singing to THEM! (he was singing to ME!). Anyway, once he married, I knew being a Morman he would probably NEVER leave her for me so I moved on. Fast forward to my rehearsal dinner the day before my wedding to DH. My sister who was my matron of honor was giving a toast to us and she went into this speill about my "first love" and I thinking 'oh great, she's bringing up the guy I broke up with after 7 yrs with to date my DH'. Nope, she brought up my FIRST real love - Donny! You had gotten a recording of Puppy Love and found my old autographed photos that I had plastered on my wall and she proceeded to warn my DH to be that he better watch out! It was hilarious and I thought I would pee in my pants from laughing! I still have those pictures - I could probably make some money on eBay with them! But that would mean I'd have to take them off our bedroom wall!!! LOL Anyway, he's still hot!!!
Have a great day everyone!! It's going to be a scorcher here!
thats just too funny
Happy Birthday Wonder, sorry I was so slow!
Good evening all, it's that time of night, dawning (but then I was yawning early this morning as well) lol...
Gardengirl..enjoyed your story and had a laugh...what parents dont do for their children...
Best thing that happened to me today was having the grandchildren over tonight..takes ones mind of of not so nice things...nope, didn't win any $$$$...infact it cost me $40.00 - Bingo cards for all, chocolate pizza delight and then took them into town for a treat! not very profitable, but enjoyable..lol
Worse thing...BIL came to office for a few hours and then had to leave..so much he's had to look after..Jason's body had to be either cremated or embalmed for the airline to bring him home..Sue and Fred wanted to see their son so Paul had him embalmed..his body arrived at Toronto airport tonight at 9:00 pm...
What did I learn today...that regardless of how well you think your children are doing and how wonderful they sound when calling, perhaps they need immediate confirmation of your love...since Sunday I cannot count how many times I've told the boys 'I love you' and tonight re-inforced to my grandsons, that I would be here any time or day, no matter how bad the situation is and that they can call or drop in at any time for a talk...
Too bad we think of saying these things when bad things happen...
So dear friends, give your family members and friends a hug today and don't forget to say "I love you"....
Betty, you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.
Gardengirl~Dads do get themselves into perdicaments don't they. One night when I was a kid my dad had a little too much to drink and for whatever reason promised me a horse. Well you can be darn sure I reminded him of it in the morning and he tried to explain that because of my allergies a horse wouldn't be a really good thing. However he wasn't going to go back on his word. Was there something that I wanted that wouldn't make me sneeze. I wanted every Osmond album made. So off we go to Musicland and he bought me like 12-15 albums! I thought I got the sweet end of the deal. I am sure he liked that.
My dad took the entire family to see the taping of the Donny and Marie show.
I got Marie's autograph.( The punk neighbor down the street later stole it and sold it for $2, I have never forgiven him for that) I was a little disappointed because this taping was just of the comedy bits. I so desperately wanted to see Donny walk out of the BIG cursive "D" and sing. Remember that? I remember Maclean Stevenson was a guest that day and for whatever reason he took my brother backstage for a cup of tea. I could have killed Patrick right there on the spot! When the movie Mulan came out. My kids were watching it and I remember thinking I swear the hero sounds like Donny. Sure enough he did the singing for the hero. Can't fool me! Still to this day when December 9th roles around I have to smile and tell those who love me regaurdless of my silliness that it is Donny's birthday!
Just another blank canvas for you isn't it wonder? Can't wait to see what you do with it.
hahahahah it took so long to post it..... here it is... only half done tho.
thankyou my garden angel!
My best for the day~~~ I just bought the new Bon Jovi CD. WOW this is one incredible album. There are a couple tracks that could be hits on country radio.Honestly probably the best album they have put out in a long time!
My worst for the dayTHat my son had his pool on the front lawn a lot longer then I thougt he did. so I have a huge dead spot in the lawn. HOWEVER
I could make that a positive by cutting it out and put a flower island there. Hmmmm! Let me know what you think.
What I learned. That no matter how I pled, my desk is just not cleaning itself. You'd think it has saw dust for brains.
Morning, can't sleep so I thought I'd stop in and say hi...don't know what kind of day it will be weather wise as it's dark/dark outside...
Laura, that wasn't bad..one week to deliver to Australia..took more than that for a package to arrive in the USA...glad they meet your needs...
Got everything done I had wanted to do last weekend excepta find hanging solar lights for Roger's grave so at lunch I'll try a few places in the city..today would have been Roger's 64th birthday...
Grandsons are safely tucked in and sleeping soundly..funny how their minds work, Kyle who is 12 said to me last night, "you know, grandma you must feel better about grandpa Roger dying, because he had no choice, God wanted him, but Jason decided on his own to go and Fred and Sue are very sad about it"...
So, I've neglected you these past several days do I'm going to get myself energized this morning when I get to the office and post a note to each and every one of you....
Do hope you all enjoy the day!
Hard to sleep must be going around
yesterday: Best-still enjoying a vacation from DD (6 years old), but I miss her and did get to talk to her. She learned how to swim underwater! Can't wait to see it
Worst: have had a headache for several days now
what I learned: apparently I'm not the only one with sleep problems here! lol
betty - thanks for that info about the basil.
wonder - beauty, brains and talent. you "foreign" girls are all so wondersful.
best thing - finished with my surgery and out of the hospital in about 2 hours. tgwnety minutes for the surgery and rest prepping up and then waiting for my wife to pick me up. she had a dentist appt at the same time.
worst thing - nothing really. will be taking it easy until i go back to work on saturday. will do a little shopping today.
Sorry haven't been here much....busy, busy busy and that headache must be making the rounds. Third day here, too. Not too bad, just there enough to be a pain (no pun intended). Sneezing my head off, too. Rats! Summer's too short to waste it being under the weather.
Betty.....chocolate pizza delight? And profit, like beauty, may be in the eye of the beholder.
Wonder....birdies are gonna love their new house...pretty!
dw.....a new bed? Now, how could that be bad? More flowers and less to mow!
Herbie...glad surgery went well.......try to rest up....saturday will roll around before you know it....
Know I missed alot of posts I wanted to talk about......slept too late and am groggy...but a shower and off to work I go.
*Sigh*
Morning All - only 48+ hrs before I'm off from work and officially on VACATION! Can you tell I am counting down the hours! I am SO ready! And what makes the wait even worse is it is slow at work right now so I'm sitting here thinking of all the things I could be doing at home to get ready! AHHHHHHH!
So I have my best/worst for Monday - forgot to do that yesterday.
Best: girls night out. Went with two neighbors to dinner and a movie. Saw A Perfect Stranger with Halle Berry & Bruce Willis. Good movie - kept you guessing.
Worst: T-storms all around and not a drop of rain at my house!!!! &$%#@
Learned: more of a realization - we desperately need an irrigation system in our yard!
For Tuesday:
Best: got an offer from the realtor we're renting our beach house from (in August) to move to another house so another family can have the house we had for 3 straight weeks. Doesn't sound like a 'best' does it? Well, they upgraded us to a 5700 sq ft house ON the beach! Beacuse of this we have been able to entice all of DH's family to come down for a family reunion of sorts. Our niece & her DH who were driving down from Michigan for a visit anyway will now be coming earlier so we can see her and her new baby! We are so excited to be getting everyone there. DH's DD is 75 so it will be great to get everyone here for him to see - he's healthy, but you never know....
Worst: storms but no rain...again!
Learned: I can play Canasta. Tried an online game of it on POGO.com and really like it. Now if I could just figure out Euchre, Gin & Pinochle!! How do you even say "Euchre"? :)
Jeannine, our favorite family game many moons ago was canasta...other than using 3 decks of cards don't know if I'd remember how...I do know that DH and FIL used to cheat..lol
When the boys are around we do play euchre and I enjoy it...from the time that I was about 8 and grandparents who raised me would play the french version (almost) it was called 58..you had to bit and get the points that you said you would so, because their social circle was elderly if one could not play or there would be one short at their card game evenings which sometimes had 3 or 4 tables of 4, I'd get to sit in...still played in the area but most play euchre now..I'll have to check the sites to fill in my day!
How exciting about the family reunion..so unexpected...that's a lot of sq. ft. - should prove to not only be relaxing but a lot of fun as well with all the family!
Tangiegirl..could it be allergies you are suffering from? regardless, not much fun...
Tropicanna..did you finally get some rest? I probably fell into a deep sleep at 5am and slept in till 6am and it was rush/rush/rush...boys were great getting up and moving quickly for dear grandma...
Herbie..if you are like most men, you'll loose patience with resting and taking it easy part ...don't overdue though, you'd not want to damage what they've just repaired...keep us gals entertained, that's what you should be doing....lol...or maybe entertain that lovely wife of yours....hmmmmm
Laura, so nice to see you excited about being creative again...wonderful...
It's hard for me to tell, I tossed and turned so much....think I will definitely take a sleeping pill tonight, I've been up several nights in a row now.
Hope you felt better!
Yesterday best - Finally got my tomato jungle pruned and tied up - with 45 plants that is a real chore. Did it in the am yesterday before the sun hit that bed
Worst: the house is a mess and I haven't finished a newsletter that was supposed to go out on Monday.
Learned - not much apparently since the worst is a weekly occurence. Best be getting off DG and finishing!
Gardengirl - where is the beach? Sounds like an awesome deal to me!
Better not tell us, when you say it's family reunion...did you also mean your DG family?
Now wouldn't that be a plus..lol
Now Betty - how did you know? I am thinking Hilton Head!!
hm..not so sure, think it's my holiday week as well..that new car of mine is cheap on gas..lol...could almost pick you up Kim..worse that could happen is she'd have us camp out on the beach...
HA! Sure, c'mon down!
We're going to be in Cape Hatteras, NC. We have always gone to Corolla or Nags head and last year we tried Avon and LOVED the "emptiness". We also liked that we can drive the truck onto the beach and just open the back and let all the crap fall out vs. hiking from a parking lot, over the dunes and then trudging down the beach for a spot! Our original house this year was in Avon too, but then we moved to Hatteras with the new house. So about 30 mins more drive but now we're close to the Okracoke ferry. If you EVER get a chance to visit the Out Banks of NC, you HAVE to drive down to Hatteras and take the free ferry across to Okracoke. The island is only 17 miles long and only inhabitated at the southernmost end - it's a tiny village at the end. It is miles and miles of beach with NO ONE around. Heck, you can go skinny dippin' Betty! ;) This year, we will be about 5 mins away from the ferry so we will probably go over a day or two. It will be just so nice though to walk out the back door to the beach! If you get tired, you can go back and not wait on everyone else!
Here's the link to the house.... NO DROOLING! :)
http://www.hatterasrealty.com/book/house.html?User=HATT17472&PMSID=GREATEXP&Avail=%20&Stay=
Drooling's not the word for it..wow..how lucky you are...as the the skinny dipping naked- well just don't go there...lol...I'm envious though..
Watch out Gardengirl...I've had people steal my clothes from the beach before! lol
I grew up on the outer banks, everything's grown so much!
