Do you or don't you??

Upstate, NY(Zone 5a)

Can you wash them Victor? Will that effect their ability to bend time?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think they just recommend wiping but I'm not sure. Should say on the website. Hopefully the powers remain.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I can bend thyme.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

with gloves or without!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

With Parsley, Sage and Rosemary.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I noticed something odd the other day when I had my mud gloves on and did some watering and them took the gloves off. Big areas on the little pads of the fingertips that were watersogged to the point of "blistering" I had to sit and peel them....good chance to sit..after planting the steppable thyme. I'll assume it bends :~)

Victor,

Where did you buy your Bionic gloves? I'm thinking of buying the Bionic Rose Tender gloves for DH who, as I know I've mentioned, gets itchy rashes all over his arms when he gardens. I'll try to forestall any double entendres by explaining they're for people who tend roses, and thus have longer forearms. The gloves, that is. I see them online for $41 - 42 from an arthritis place, with free shipping.

I thought I'd add my input on gloves. I love the Atlas gloves. I feel like I am not wearing any, yet my hands are protected. If anyone is interested - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=120166515613&Category=63910&_trksid=p3907.m29

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Carrie, I bought them directly from Bionic. I searched at the time and found they were no cheaper anywhere else.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hmmmm. I'm looking at this place:

beware - it's one of those sites that starts yelling when you click on it!

I'm reviving this thread to report that my Bionic Elite gloves tore in the pinkie! It's the only un-reinforced finger. They better re-think that. I contacted them. There is a full one-year warranty so they should exchange them with no problem. I'll let you know.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just received an email from them. I can call on Monday to arrange an exchange.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wow, that's good buisiness!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - good customer service.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Tore in the pinkie!! - My DW knows a good manicurist... ☺

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I just sent my sister in VA mucking gloves that go past the elbow. She is terribly allergic to PI and I was hoping the glove would help. I got them at Lee Valley Tools.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Funny, that's practically what I called mine when the pinkie ripped.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I wear seal skin gloves when it's cold & wet, & kevlar reinforced gloves when working with rose branches and the like. When it's warm I'm usually too impulsive to use gloves but I should - with all the microbes in the soil, inadvertently rubbing my eyes and nose afterwards etc. I'm checking out the gloves for this season, obviously looking for dexterity, sensitivity and puncture resistance - its a good idea to use them. ☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I still like the Bionics. If they only last one season that is still very good to me. Great dexterity or I would not use them. Was never big on garden gloves. Use to use nitrile but they always broke and made me sweat too much.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Funny you mention that about the nitrile gloves. We use them at work, but they make your whole body go into a sweat. As soon as you take them off you think the ambient temp dropped 20 degrees. But WC2 I abhor the thought of wearing anything that came from a seal, I know, I'm a silly sentimental woman, but they're just too cute to wear! My mind does this.....seals, Bridgette Bardot, big men, little baby seals, big clubs, baby seals bashed, skinned, carcass left. Of course we can hope that the bereft polar bear will stumble upon the carcass and consider it a free buffet!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe he meant navy seal??

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Would that be Dark blue seal point (cat)........oh no!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Siamese?

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

blue eyes and a yowl !

Millersburg, PA(Zone 6b)

Seal gloves in this area are made by the Seal Glove Company. They make all sorts of gloves and employed many people in our little town. Haven't been to their factory store for about 4 years so really don't know if they are still there.

The best gloves I use for general purpose, rose bushes, pruning weeding and mixing potting mix are a pair of goatskin gloves which I've had for about 6 years. I think I got them at Lee Valley.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

So se_eds, can it be assumed the seals are imported for the seal glove company in PA? Goats are kinda cute too so let's let them live.......also so they can continue to produce my absolutely most favorite cheese on earth

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe there's also a Goat Glove Co.??

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

If goat cheese can be found in those gloves, count me as a perennial buyer!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

But not annual??

Millersburg, PA(Zone 6b)

If you need to buy them annually, they must not hold up to good.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Okay, I switch hit. A and P goat cheese buyer.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Not to worry Venu209. SealSkinz is the patented trademark of Danalco, based in Ca. They manufacture waterproof, thermal gloves which are also worn by military personnel as well as gardeners, fishermen, and any sports enthusiast who is exposed to cold and moisture on a prolonged basis.
The material is synthetic and they probably chose the name because of it's insulating qualities. - It's more like thick woven neoprene with thinsulate and rubber grips on the fingers. I bought them primarily for fishing in cold weather but now I have other similar but thicker neoprene gloves for that purpose. ☺

Thank You WC2....Bridgette and friends can now leave my brain, although the polar bears might regret that free buffet. I love synthetics!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That doesn't look like ideal fishing conditions, WC!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, we cant eliminate the seals... the polar bears do have to eat! ☺

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Use ballons - it gets the bait past the breakers. ☺

I came across this in the General Chat Forum -

Blood infections are very bad. I met a patient with a very heavy Scottish accent who had a blood infection when I worked in a hospital. When I first met him he told me they were going to amputate his left arm. The last time I saw him he told me they may amputate his legs, both his arms were already gone...

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

I think I'll start wearing gloves all of the time!! The tips of my fingers are almost always cracked and some even separated from the nail! Thanks gabagoo for posting that link!! I really appreciate it! Eleanor
