I try to always wear gloves in the garden. The skin on my finger tips tends to split open if I don't. I don't worry about brands because all of them fall apart within a month so I buy a lot of cheap ones instead of one expensive pair.

Job Lot has garden gloves on sale this week for a buck. They have a knock-off of a mud glove that works for me.
