Sheila I had that plant at one time ... dont know the name. I got another big pot of something out there I dont know what it is ... but it smell wonderful. gotta take a pic.
Dallas Fall Plant Swap
Then it may be one you gave me and Mitch when we moved you.
Looks like it - At least I have that one. Salvia are all so stunning.
BTW - any have a pink Salvia that trails a bit they gave me at the last swap? It started to bloom and I love it just wanted to know what it was.
The blue salvia without the black is Argentine Skies, Salvia Guaranitica.
Josephine.
Thanks Josephine!! I only have the one piece, but it was so pretty when it bloomed! I am sure someone gave it to me at a swap or got some from Sylvia's, but I am bad at remembering details. I will tag it today!
Sheila, why would I give you and Mitch all my Salvias? I think yall took advantage of me because I was taking all them drugs. lol
Not all - but just a few of the ones on the side - lol .. . . .. Mitch
We can't help it if you can't remember offering them to us! LOL!! You know we weren't going to turn nothing down!! Silly woman!
LOL
true.. I still have a two plants that came bare root that day I have no idea what they are.
I got Argentine Skies at the swap last Oct from Karen (but I don't recall her screen name). I mixed it in with some already-established Garanitica, which is now trying to take over my entire back foundation area. That plant is a Hummingbird magnet.
Carla
Which one Carla, the Garanitica or the Argentina Skies? I would love to have more of the AS!!!
poping in to say hello and will be there. Right now I would have to swim out.
LOL ... Ted its bad where you are too? I dont understand all this rain.
On the Tv last night, a guy was so frustrted, he yelled out "somebody got to do something about all this rain" I think he was serious too... Bless his heart....
Hey Ted, we look forward to seeing you at the swap! My Castor beans sprouted and are doing ok so far in all this rain. I also have Florence Vaughn Cannas you shared, blooming all over the place!!
Same here, and the begonia you shared is just huge and blooming all over the place (is it a Rex ? or ??)
Sheila, I'll have to check more closely to see if any of the Argentine Sky did indeed survive the wet and cold winter. If it's mixed in with my Black & Blue, I'll cultivate some for you. I've only seen AS in one local nursery (and can't recall if it was Rohdes or NHG), and I'll continue to keep an eye out for it.
Carla
Yes Ted, i am looking forward to seeing you too.
Okay, that settles it!!!
If Ted is coming, I'll just HAVE to make it!!! :~)
Need me to bring you some vermiculite? lol
LMK the date & count my crooked nose in! lol
She is tall like you Ted. I see you have a lot of high water still there. Who would have thought last year when we couldn't buy a drop of rain, we would be wishing it would stop one year later. LOL!
So kewl! & I see more in your near future!!!
Is that by the front door?
Yeah it is cool ...Mattie just love to stuff when it blooms ... she gets so excited. It has three more buds on it. :)
i am definitely in.
patrob..........didn't you bring the white passiflora? if you have more could you bring me a couple as dawnintx. wants one too. the ones that you sent before didn't live.
now on argentina sky.........isn't that a light blue. i have a plain guaranitica that has flowers a similar color to black and blue without the black but i thought my light blue was argentina sky. help me here.
No, I did not bring white passiflora. I wish I did have one though!
who was that? dawn'll know.
who is getting rain out the wazoo? i know we are.
Ran the sprinklers for the first time in about two months tonight!
YOU DID NOT !!! isn't it raining every day in ft. worth too?
Pat I have the white ... tell me how to get it going.
Well, I checked my Garanitica and they all look to be Black & Blue. But Mamajack brings up an interesting question -- I, too, thought the color of the Argentina Skies was a lighter, Robins egg blue color than the Garanitica. Anyone?
The eastern part of the metroplex got nailed again last night. I had 1-3/4" more rain in my gauge. I haven't had to water my lawn or put out the soaker hoses yet this year. It's July 12 ... I can't believe it. And more rain is coming.
Carla
I think
Salvia is the Genus
Guaranitica is the Species
and the other names are different varieties of it, such as
Salvia Guaranitica, Argentine Skies
Salvia Guaranitica, Black and blue
and so forth;

Josephine.
So the Argentine Skies is a lighter shade of blue than Black & Blue. Unfortunately, the plant that I got at the October RU didn't survive the wet/cold winter. I will continue to look for the AS in the local nurseries. I would like to mix some in with my B&B and see how they contrast with each other.
Carla
I think i will have some to share at the swap, it is a little early to keep track of who wants what yet, but do remind me about it later.
Josephine.
uhhhhhhhhh..................i have argentine sky! a few. lol.
and i am not even sure of the name. i think i read on the salvia forum a note from richard dufresne and he called it argentin......A .
Barb, what are doing up @ 2 AM !
IT'S DAWN!!!!!! HEY , EVERYBODY................IT'S DAWN!!! i love you.
Yes Dawn, it is good to have you back, God Bless.
Hi Dawn, we've missed you.
