Sticks, I went to that thread and shared a pic of my blue deck pots!

BTW, I didn't realize you had Lupus - and I admire that you keep on truckin' as I've heard it can be a real doozie of a problem.

murmur...i thought you were the blue pot person...will go to that thread and look....and yes, lupus does a doozie...but i refuse to be in bed....; hubby sez why don't you rest.? i tell him....that my brain wont rest....so i do a little at a time as i am given energy.....; in fact this morning i was exhausted after 12 hours of sleep.....didn't want to get out of bed; my kids, (dogs) need me.....i got up and said i will drink one cup of coffee and just sit here and then get up and do something constructive......well the body wasn't going.....so i had to have cup of coffee 2.....my rear didn't want to go.....so i told myself, ....yah dont have to do anything but sit on your fannie and weed a flower bed.....so that is what i did...and that positive momentum got a whole flower bed weeded....and that really made me feel a little better.....so i was able to do some other chores i didn't think i could tackle today.....i am grateful that i was able to get thru ANY chore....and i don't even have the 'bad' lupus....; one girl here on daves has to have chemo....i haven't had to....'just for today'...(stepping off my soap box...grin)

Sticks, good for you!!! I truly cannot imagine, but sure admire your perseverance.

Well, I went to the Ace Hardware garden center and bought DH his Basil. And myself an Artemesia (Silver Mound), PLUS the glorious Hebe - I'm thrilled with it! To make the day even better, they gave me some things they were throwing out - a Sage of some variety (gigantic - I cut it way back and stuck it in the ground), a Rosemary that was buried underneath it, and a small tree with blossoms (I need to figure out what it is). I've also planted the Hebe, the Artemesia, and the Basil (along with the six little plants I got in the mail!). And I dug up a couple things and moved them (and am working at a blankety blank blackberry vine that wants to own my entire yard). DH and I are going to go run some errands - I don't imagine he'll want to stop at any other nurseries or garden centers, eh?

murmur ...you go gurl!!!

A friend and I went nursery hopping one day and there were some lovely yellow hollyhock plants (Alcea rugosa) at one. "Stan would kill me if I BOUGHT a hollyhock," I said.* A week later, Stan and I stopped to see if they had any Irish moss. I mentioned the hollyhock. "Buy it," he said. MY HUSBAND FORCED ME TO BUY THE HOLLYHOCK - REALLY!!

* my dear, dear husband is NOT a homicidal maniac, but I do have hollyhocks on the west side of the house, part of the south side, down on the east side of the barn and some over by the studio. He once said there was a small area in the back 40 where there didn't appear to be a single hollyhock.

LOL - that's a great story!!! And how wonderful that you have Hollyhocks!! Everywhere!!

This thread is very amusing. Here I've been feeling guilty for all the plants I buy and all the ruses I employ to hide the fact that I'm an incurable plant addict. Now I know I'm not alone!!! One of my biggest problems is that my husband is very observant! I swear that man notices everything. Now, why can't he be a 'typical male'?!! LOL.

I've only been able to hide plant purchases a few times. If I shop at Lowes or Home Depot, he doesn't always notice because he thinks the purchase was his (bwa haa haa - the advantages of being married to a handy man who's always involved in one project or another). And, of course, cash purchases that are immediately planted can sometimes go unnoticed. (Just remember to throw away the grocery receipt so he doesn't see the $40 cash back you requested from your debit card!! ;o)

we are soooooooooooooooo bad:)

I love this thread...I don't need a cover story as a rule...hubby spends 45 dollars a week on smokes, so i figure I'm allowed that much for plants....works out well....he doesn't dare say a word!!!!

I know you will find this hard to believe, but I've probably had three more Internet purchases arrive since my last post - mostly unnoticed by dh, but when I got home this evening, there was a box on the deck. I figured dh had spent the day inside recovering from last night, but darned it he hadn't been out to the mailbox and saw the package. Asked me if I'd seen it. I just said, yes and I would open it tomorrow in the garage. No more comment from either of us. LOL

And my cousin gave me the most gorgeous little Korean Fir today - she bought three and decided she just didn't have room (there's no question that she and I are related!). Now I have no idea where to put it, but I'll figure something out. Along with all the other stuff (including 12 Scabiosas . . . where was my brain when my finger pushed the send button on that order???!!!).

DancyTx, I was just re-reading this fun thread and saw again the description of your barn, etc. - do you have any photos? It sounds wonderful!!

SongsOfJoy, yup . . . cash purchases don't even count.

Glamourpuss (great name, btw), that's a great idea to just set the new pots amongst the already thick flower beds - lol!!

I've learned so much from this thread - I love that you are all as devious as I!!!
