So happy the rain came. I hope we get a good soaking. An all night slow rain would be perfect. Some of my peonies are on the ground now and it is still worth the rain.

My honey perfume floribunda decided to open in honor of the rain!

Great color, Victor!

rsquared - now you have me anxious for my Honey Perfume to bloom.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

We didn't get any rain in Glens Falls. All around us did but not on my postage stamp lot!! Hoping for some tonight. We really need a good soaking rain to wash the pollen off the plants - they look diseased - and off the decks and deck chairs and cars and houses and just wash it away!!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We time our trip to Cape Cod just to avoid the pollen but hit it last year.

Great pics everybody. Victor the Orange Slices is to drool over. I love a good orange.
And the roses you all have - well I live vicariously through you

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Peony & iris for me. Forgot to get a picture.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Victor, I had to put Orange Slices on my wish list. Thats one beautiful Iris!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

great pics! All of them remind me how much I hate winter! I love clematis. I have one that hasn't bloomed in several years. This is the first year that it looks happy so I'm curious to see if it does anything.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Al - I'm already off on vacation, mentally, having taken a nap already this morning!

Victor - wonderful rose. How tall does it get?

Anita - after another 10 hour stint in the garden yesterday I think I'll appreciate winter even more! What else do you want the clematis to do besides flower? Give it a drink of Epsom Salts to get more basal break (stems).

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good morning Pirl. The rose gets up about 5 feet. Are you going on vacation? After 10 hrs in the garden I think you need the Epsom Salt - for your footsies!! 10 hours would put me in traction. My limit is about 7 or so, and that's really more than my back can handle.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Victor - 8 to 10 hours is the usual, every day. It's 11 to 13 hours on the busy days with no time off for frills like lunch. Yes, we're off on our annual trip to Cape Cod to rest up after the always hectic spring planting of vegetables, annuals, dahlias, roses, perennials, etc. Not that I'm done with all of our seedlings but I did finish digging out and replanting daylilies to make room for the dahlias. No Epsom Salts needed - nothing hurts but my right hand is much larger than my left hand with all the digging and pulling weeds for many weeks now.

Is your rose one of the David Austin varieties? My Kathryn Morley is doing poorly (yes, I know it rhymes!).

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes it is a D. Austin. And my Jacquenetta is doing better!

Catching up on this thread

1. I NEED a blue clematis. I have planted a yellow climbing rose 'Lemon Meringue' on a pillar and Victor's 'Ramona' or grammy's blue got me thinking that it could use a friend. Kass, you had a beauty of a blue clem, too.

2. Vic, ditto on 'Orange Slices'. I am putting it on my list. Delicious.

3. I already have 'Niobe' on my list...must bump it up.

seems my garden is a bit behind everybody's, but here goes...first iris 'Enchanted One'

edit to add:

4. Victor, it is me who is getting the viburnums. thanks for posting the pic. call me Jan.

Very nice Jan. I'll try to use your name to avoid confusing myself!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Why don't we just forget this grandmother stuff, ok? I will reintroduce myself. I'm Eleanor from Glens Falls, NY. I will start signing my messages with my name. Jan, your pics are beautiful. My garden is further behind than yours. I haven't got much color in mine yet but things are growing. It started raining last night and supposed to have showers today and tomorrow - that will give the flowers a boost and me a rest!!

I'm enjoying the rest the rain is giving me. Might even take another nap.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Eleanor! That's my mother's name. I love it.... gee, I think you're swell.

Jan, your flowers are beautiful!

Al, your dog is too cool.

Victor, I love that rose.

The rain is nice, isn't it pirl? Yesterday I did 5 hours in the garden, most of it was weed wacking. That takes a toll on me. I'm too short for the weed wacker, so I have to hold it up. Eventually, my arms start shaking... that's when I gotta watch out for my toes. It all turned out well, though. DH mowed. It's nice to 'see' the yard now!

My camera isn't very good for closeups but I was trying to capture the way the rain drops settled into the rosettes of the succulent on the living wreath. The name of this succulent is Orostachys (furusei).

Beautiful.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah - it looks great Eleanor. My name is Dave.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Is not!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Okay.......it's Harrison.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

In your dreams, baby.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, he's not my type.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

My real name is Eleanor. Phoeb or Phoebe is my showname for our annual church musical that I play the piano for. The show is usually a comedy - even if it doesn't start out that way - and I had to have a stage name so they could clown around with me during the show. I refuse to step foot onstage cause "I'm self-consious" until I'm behind a keyboard - piano or computer!! The name has stuck with me for 15 years!! So I have two names - Phoebe the idiot or Eleanor the quiet reserved person. I don't know what my identity is?????

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

victor doesn't know who he is either???

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maybe we need a wellness thread for DaVictor?
