Nery, are you going to make this swap? We have been trying to say Hi in-person all summer, and it seems to have always fallen through. Maybe tomorrow!

July 21st West Houston Meet
Is this swap still "a go?" We may have to float down the Colorado for a bit in a rented canoe. It's been pouring here this afternoon, and will be thru the night. I checked Houston's weather and it looks pretty much the same. We have to come!!!!.....we have the plates and utensils. Without us.....you'll have to eat with your hands!!!!!!! We'll be a little late....maybe closer to 10. ...but we'll be there.
Bubbles
I'm so glad you're still coming, BB! It's quite literally a swamp on my end of town. Guess nature has a way of reclaiming itself. It was a swamp before we got here. And the skeeters are VICIOUS!
uh, I was always told NOT to assign the eating utensils to the late-comers...ya'll are gonna have to eat hamhocks outta your laps! (uh, for those who don't know me yet, I'm just kidding...)
I've been known to pick up a bowl and slurp.
knolan,
is there any other way? which reminds me, I need to cook some rice too! Oh, my!!!
Knolan, I'm gonna d-mail you my cell phone # in case ya'll take off early to do something fun without us. Then we can hunt you down,........ I mean find you. I went out in the pouring rain and moved pots to the patio so they wouldn't drown...again. Then I yanked up Swedish ivy, and a few other things, including some water plants, and stuffed them in plastic bags. Only thing left is to catch the fish....
Oh, I checked my Etiquette book and it says one should never, under any circumstances, eat ham hocks before 10AM, so we'll be okay. I couldn't find anything about drinking wine early, tho......
Well, at all the gatherings I've been to, the wine drinking starts at wine:thirty. Heehee.
Don't worry, Sandi. We'll wait for ya! We have an awful long time between lunch and the wine tasting so, there's no rush.
My crazy friend, Karolyn just called and this is what she's bringing:
4 o'clocks, native pecan trees, loquat trees, red crocosmia, elephant ears (be warned....these are invasive) and spineless prickly pear
I told her she could work out who wants what tomorrow. Just thought ya'll might like to know what she's bringing
This is gonna be fun! We may need canoes and umbrellas, but who cares. If we are lucky - it will be like today when all the rain in central Houston happened between 4:00 am and 8:00 am. No street flooding has happened lately at all for those of you coming from elsewhere. 50% chance tomorrow - which means we may be in the 50% of Houston that gets very little rain.
See everyone tomorrow!
hi all, your big day is almost here, kinda like christmas in july!! i hope you all have a wonderful time and hope the day is sunny and bright. i will anxious to read about all that took place.
have a great time and have fun :-)
take care
flowerette was that when I was so late because the insurance adjuster came? Then it is me. Oh yes and kipper2 like always was bad??
I would love red amaryllis and the bromeliad if not already spoken for.
I am bring quite a few of each oleander cutting. 8 baby mimosas, 4 or 5 evergreen wisteria cuttings and still need to cut fruitless pomegranate. Oh well knew when I was out there I would forget something. They have beautiful orange like a carnation flower only extremely dense with petals. Absolutely gorgeous.
See you all tomorrow.
I need a haircut but wasn't able to get there but it will be a bad hair day anyway. If I am more than usual frightening looking which is very hard to be more than I already
am will say I am sorry now. I have a big heart that makes up for it. LOL
Okay, you kids! My car is packed! Wish I could pop you a pix in here! Ya'll would be so proud of me if you could see my car! & I think I got everything I was supposed to bring in there! Chairs, fans, ext cords, ALL of Kristi's plants, other plants for everyone else, bottle of wine, wine sample glasses, tarp, etc, etc.
Clothes are in the dryer. I'm fixing to make the Corn Casserole. May get to bed by one & up by 6:30.
But will definitely be up for a WHILE!

This is what I have (not everything took so, I'm sorry if someone requested something and I don't have it). And some of them were started again last week (I tried to get everyone's wishes in) so they will need to be babied.

Kristi, what is the difference in the D's Pipe I am bringing you & the one you are giving to Lisa? I'm not understaing!
Sure Kristi, take the empty wine bottles... whiich reminds me I will need to pick some up during the do your own thing time tomorrow. I was just getting ready to buy wine, go to home depot and Connie and Janet showed up and dropped off their goodies...Wow, they brought a lot of plants, and if it's an indication, there certainly will be no shortage.
Okay..going to finsh up tables and shelves.
Here's powder puff..
They're different! I have 'trilobata' and you're bringing me 'fimbriata' (?).
That's so pretty! Is it too late to request a cutting (or did I already)? Can't keep up with myself.
Thanks, Randy - I know Fly will really appreciate our contributing to her tree. I'm bringing a cabernet and a riesling. The cheese is an English Wensleydale with cranberry chunks (I so wanted to find that sage cheese that's green veined and delicious but no luck).
I'm still up, too, making brownies. I haven't even started thinking about loading the car yet, though. You're amazing, Smockette!
Rj, do you know the botanical for your 'powder puff'? Cause it sure looks just like mine!

Marylyn, we are doing the same things just in different order! lol
I've got my car loaded, got the laundry finished, & am fixing to start the corn casserole!
:~)
Shoot I wash my sheets and still have to make the bed.
Me thinks me need a powder puff. Perrrrtttty lol
I am picking up Gymgirl. Gotta leave here at 7:30.
Not much of a morning person. I'll take some cheese with my whine please ;O).
Okay, Corn Casserole is in the oven! It only has to cook for one hour!!!
Marylyn, what are you doing now?
Sas called a while ago & said she was making 80 Pigs in a Blanket!!! Yum!!!
May have to go play some poker to stay awake! lol
:~)
you have mail... Smokette
Going to make bed, check back here, then get in it. Hope to sleep. Not usually but I will try.
Maybe a little beer would help.
I'm going to bed, Really!
Smockette, you're a poker player too????? this could be the start of a beautiful friendship. Heehee.....we'll talk tomorrow. I gotta get to bed. My pillow is calling my name.
Well I decided to have 3 fresh strawberries and no beer. They really hit the spot. I worked up an appetite making that king size bed. My neighbor gave me one but with my back I couldn't sleep on it. Just gavr up my waterbed. So I went and bought on credit 0% for 4 years. And I bought a king size because my DGDs flipped over the other one that is now in their room when they come. It is heaven. I bought a Sealy miracle foam. It is 16 inch thick foam mattress. Like temprapedic but alot cheaper. This is weird I am sitting here telling you all about it when I could be in it.
Well Night all.
Hope the CC is done! I'm ready!
me too!! you have mail.
I was still awake when you asked me what I was doing, Smockette, but my dh was on the computer so I didn't see it. Sorry!!! :-)
I haven't actually dug up all of my plants yet, so I'm heading outside now. Being only 10 miles away from Randy's house is sure convenient!!! LOL I'll see you all soon. :-)
Randy,
I'm at the Hampton Hotel in West Houston and have 5 bottles of wine in a cooler in my car!
I'm bringing them during y'all's time of plant exchange and you can enjoy them even if I don't get to come this afternoon during the social hour.
I might have to call you if I get lost, which is the NORM. :)
Connie Webb
Randy & All,
I'm back at the hotel waiting for my "party girl" who stayed out until 4:00 A.M. to get ready!! I so enjoyed meeting everyone...sorry I could not stay but had this shopping trip with daughter arranged since early spring.
Randy, I've looked up the "Borneo Sunset" AND under Clerodendrum and Panticulatum and have had no success on DG. Will try a general Google search. It is soooo gorgeous, but probably needs Houston's humidity to grow. Awwwww.

Isn't this that plant Connie?
We're back but not fully unloaded.Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed visiting with you all. What a wonderful time! I will be posting later.
I had a great time, too, and had so much fun meeting all of you! Thank you again, Randy, for hosting it. I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow when I start planting all of my goodies asking if someone remembers giving me "this" and what on earth is it anyway?!? LOL
I really had a great time visiting with everyone also. I've snuck all of Connie's plants out of my truck and replaced them with invasives. Don't any body tell her! HAHAHAHA
I hear Calgon calling my name. Talk with you folks later on!
Janet
Weasel!
HAHAHAHAHA You know I'm kidding.
Randy, thanks so much for allowing your plant friends to invade and take over your lovely home. We had a wonderful time and you were the perfect host.
I can't wait to get my truck unloaded in the morning to assess all of my goodies and find homes for them in my yards. I appreciate all of the plants that you folks shared.
Janet
I am home! Cars finally unloaded!. Babies tucked in for the nite.
I think I may be able to lay down & sleep now, with visions of babies dancing in my head! lol
Had a wonderful time meeting everyone! Eating that lavious feast! & oh, what beautiful new babies came home with me!!!
Thanks to everyone for such a special day!!!
