Hi Chuck and Loida!

"Fans" of mine??? Ah shucks! (digging toe into carpet, blushing) I'm just your run-of-the-mill knucklehead plant fiend! How are your White Coneflowers doing? I hope you have some babies to share! Gee, the more I read this thread the more excited I am to get my darned car packed and hit the road!!!

(I had better pack some Visene....after my 8 hour drive I'll be a red-eyed monster! LOL)

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Harold don`t forget soda is out and POP is the new word for soda in Ohio.

Soda I never heard of. We always called it pop. Not until I married Ann, who came from New Jersey, did I hear it called soda. (Do you know what a tomato pie is? My first trip to NJ I kept seeing these signs "Tomato Pies". Turns out they are what we in Ohio called Pizza Pies or as I was told in reality what we were saying is pie pies.) Harold

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Is there a dress code "theme" we have to adhere to for this RU ??? Where do I get an extra long serape??? LOL

Also, which one of you gals will be doing the "dance of the 7 mantillas" ???

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Mike you know it's going to be warm so just wear your shorts and that hawaiian shirt. No dancing here.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

We were at a Cinco de Mayo celebration last night, and they were playing disco music between the bands!? Don, do you think we could hang a disco ball under the grape arbor?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Then I'll dance!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I never heard tomato pie but figured what it was. funny. It used to bug me for years people calling pop soda, now it`s the other way, funny to hear the word pop.

Hope it is atleast not windy, warm is good,Santa Margarita breezes ok but no Antelope Valley winds Please. I hope it isn`t 100 either but we will have fun anyway. I used to have sombreros and stuff when i was married to a Mexican but no mas.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Adding my mom Sally and aunt Anita to the guest list.

Crossville, TN

The more the merrier! Jo

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I was thinking about bringing someone but i don`t want to be rushed or worry if they are having fun. I told DH if he wanted to go for a while , we could try to get a room then HE could go back to it or go to the casino, then we could go to old town to breakfast and watch the Harleys go by the next morning before we go home. who knows?? He is worried about me driving so shortly after surgury, especially that truck it has tough suspention.

Crossville, TN

I Gua-ran-tee you that Hubby would have a great time....lots of guys are coming. Jo

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

what's the weather prediction for the RU!!? sunny or cold???

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Well, it's 90+ here today and drdon's place is usually a lot hotter. lol It's supposed to cool off a bit later this week though.

Seriously, I would count on it being hot at the ranch, but a little cooler elsewhere. We always advise people to bring a light jacket at the least, especially if you'll be near the beach in the evenings. Pack layers, depending on your temperature tolerance - but be sure to bring something for sun protection. Better yet, go shopping when you get here!

Kathleen

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

There will also be plenty of places to sit in shade, so it won't be like sitting out in the middle of a desert or anything. And it shouldn't be humid!

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

Weegy,
Your mom?
How totally very awesomely cool...

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yeah it is, Dovey. Let's see if she remembers you. Yeah it's hot here too and windy for the 3rd day in a row.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Shhh...I'm trying not to make Kassia nervous.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Don will be giving us the directions to the ranch real soon, ok? It's a straight shot down the 15 fwy to his exit in Temecula.
------------------

Ok everyone, my garden tour hosting job is over and I am ready to get this party going now. This is going to be the best RU around this year, especially since we have so many new members coming from all over the USA and of course our gread local people as well. We are also being honored by having our wonderful webmaster attend this year, and I know we are all looking forward to meeting him....I know I sure am!!!

I am working on some things through dmails right now, so if anyone has any other types of questions, please feel free to contact me or ask here on the thread.

If you have not posted that you are coming yet, or if you might be able to attend, please let us know on this thread. Don would like to know if he has the correct amount of chairs and tables for the large group we are expecting. It would also be nice to let him know for the amount of food he is graciously preparing for us.

Thank you all for keeping this thread going nicely while I was tending to my garden tour.

Donna

ps. weegy, I am so glad to see that you are bringing your mother. She will have a lovely time. Please tell her I said hello.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Okey dokey.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yes she will and I will say hello for you.

Jasper Co., MO(Zone 6b)

11 more days...

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

10 more days and counting...............YIKES!!!!

Hiya guys,

Here's and update........

Pam and I have ordered a few extra tables and a bunch of extra chairs just to be sure that everyone has a place to sit......and eat.....lol.

As far as the weather goes......after the winds blew both barns away, two dogs, and a few coyotes we didn't know were actually residents......it appears to have calmed down for an evening. I would certainly consider bringing a sweatshirt or windbreaker so that you all can enjoy the cool mornings and de-layer for the warmer mid-day heat. It was rather warm the last two days here, but that means nothing. The prognosticators are calling for temps in the high 80's for the 19th, but they're Californians and prone to incredible bouts of stupidity....lol. Being a weatherman/woman in southern California is the best job ever. One never needs to be correct as no one actually pays any attention to the weather anyway...lol.

I will start a new thread called..........HOW TO GET TO THE RANCH in a couple of days.

I'll also be leaving ......by car......to Seattle to pick up balvenie, and a fabulous new window for the house on Friday and will be picking up Zuzu on the way south on Robert and my road trip. I'll be posting from the road and may share a few pics of Robert's and my adventures traveling down the west coast of this marvelous country. It should be an experience to remember. And when we add Zuzu to the mix, it will most certainly be a final 600 or so miles to remember. This roundup will be a truly amazing time in that so many of DG's most influential folks will be attending for the first time in order to join those (you guys) incredibly influential people whom have been attending since the beginning. Pam and I are just so honored to be lucky enough to be hosting this clam bake.

If JD brings the beer, we'll all be just as silly as school girls......lol.

I've added a few cases of some fairly decent French wines to the mix.........beverage-wise......and hope that someone might think about bringing some of those marvelous plastic wine glasses that the base always falls off of. One needs to spill a litttle to actually enjoy.

So, to make a long post even longer, I add that the ranch has been declared ready for a roundup and I'm just going to spend the next couple of days drinking heavily, laughing a lot with my wife, and anxiously awaiting all of our old, new, and unknown friends.

hope you are all well and as excited as we are.

SoCal.......I know you and Mike rocked the tour!!!!!

don

Jasper Co., MO(Zone 6b)
