Hip Hip Hurray. Dave OH Mighty Grand Poobah, Thank you, we are humbled to be in your presence. Dawn

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

Well, there it is!

As I've basically begged dave for about 12 months regarding his attending this roundup. When I got the news that he had decided to attend, I, of course, hugged my wife and we danced a jig together (kind of a happy dance for Irish people). We both just smiled and knew that all of my groveling must have paid off.....lol.

Now that so many out of state subscribers and members have decided to attend, I am convinced that this little roundup hosted by Donna originally has really become a DG event! Thanks SoCal for letting Pam and I host it here for the last few years. It's always been a really fun get together and some folks will be making a third appearance here.....wooohhooo!

With all of the new folks coming this year we've prepared some more tent(s) for food, and will do our best to have enough seating and tables for all who attend. Pam and I are really rather awestruck by the incredible distances people will be traveling and cannot begin to express the great joy having so many of you come so far to be a part of what has truly become a special day each year that we look forward to.

As the clock is now ticking in May, and we are less than three weeks from DG day here, I hope that those who are bringing plants to trade will note that there is no need to bring watering cans as there will be plenty of hoses close to the trading tables which will be set up in the same spot they were last year close to the rose gardens. If plants you are bringing need special attention I do have a greenhouse and there will be plenty of shade for particularly tender specimens. As usual, both Pam and I insist that you consider the ranch yours for the day, however we do request that anyone wishing to pet or touch a particular horse ask one of the training staff that will be working horses during the roundup to either bring an animal over to you or to escort you to a particular critter for a bit of bonding. So please come for the fun, the gardens, the plants, the people, and, of course, the horses and be as happy to be at our ranch as we are honored to have you as guests. See you all very soon!

best to all,
don

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Having a real real bad day and read Don`s post and made me feel a bit better. Thanks

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Great News!!

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Donna

San Diego, CA

Froggy, you have any frogs yet?
Mark

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Whew! So glad I won't have to try and squeeze Dave & family into my carry-on!

By my count there are at least three of us coming from TX now. Do we get some kind of ree-ward for that (other than a kick in the pants)? :-)

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Your reward will be meeting Dave! hee hee

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

Is Ree-ward Texan for a bribe?

I hereby make this offer to all Texans. I will make sure that there are no San Diego Charger or San Francisco 49er memorabilia anywhere within sight so you aren't reminded how really messed up the Dallas Cowboys are....lol.

Is that ree-ward-ing enough?....lol.

All Tejanos and Tejanas are welcome and the more the better.

don

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

bring your music with you too. Fiesta at Dr. Don`s.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Hey,JD....
About that garden tour...you ready to start yodeling? Opening night jitters?

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Sherry,

I sent JD a 'Good Luck' email this afternoon and haven't heard back. He's probably out picking up all those rose petals in his garden today and tonight. We've had some winds up here for several days and all the petals are everywhere.

I am totally exausted....is it over yet? lol I can tell you one thing, my gardens never looked this nice before. I finally finished some areas that needed work and didn't realize how sparse my garden was before I had to show it off. lol

Wish us both luck tomorrow and I promise to come and give you the news ....after I sleep for several days!!!

Donna

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Good luck to you both, Donna & JD! Hope the weather cooperates.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

It will all turn out ok for both you and Mike. Wish I could be there.

I am so happy spring is finally here in MA... it was a long wait... things are blooming and growing... and my garden is begining to look decent!!!!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Good Luck (((Donna and Mike)))

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I just hope we are not blowing like it has been for months now. That sure would suck. This is wind like I never remember and never ending. Especially since Dave and family are coming.

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

I'm back, mom is doing better, getting around with a walker pretty well.
She lives in Washington right on the Yakima River, it was beautiful and I fell head over heals in horticulture love with the Dogwood trees!
So there is another good thing about Ohio, Dogwoods and Lilacs... Did someone say Swiss cheese? Things just keep looking up.

It's great to hear that The Dave is coming.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Great news Dovey

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm envious, Dovey. I love living somewhere new, especially since you know you'll only be there temporarily and not forced to stay forever if you don't like it. You have so many new places to visit, and lilacs, and lilacs, and lilacs. How thrilling! It keeps you growing....I am sooooo envious!

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

Although I wish I could take my children and grandchildren with me, I feel the same way.
Just how cool is that - to experience living someplace totally different and like you said, you're not stuck if you decide it's not where you want to stay.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Great news about mom Dovey.
We'll have to make this a going away party too!

Modesto, CA(Zone 8b)

Hmmmmm.....note to self.....look for something on Dovey's trade list "wants" so I can get cheese in return.....

k

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Kachina you're going?!?!?!?! Yippeeeeee. I don't think I have you down do I?

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

*LOL*
"Will trade cuttings for cheese"

Most likely we will not be taking home any plants this time...
Most likely we will have many potted plants to give away...
I am working on a list now.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Kachinagirl, Are you going to have the critter your passing around at the RU for a feast and pictures? lol We could have fun. We can make Heidi Pigtails and make it yodel too. lol or dress it up Mexican style.

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

I am not sure what I am bringing to the RU, right now. I started late in April with cuttings and seedlings. I am not sure they will be mature enough for the RU. I PLAN on bringing five extra lemon grass cuttings started in April. I also plan on bringing five night blooming jasmine cuttings started in April. I also plan on bringing four pots of mother hens and chicks or whatever their real name is (that is part of the reason I am bringing them to see what they are really called). Lastly I plan on bringing three or four chives seedlings (depending on whether our pastor wants one or two of them). How difficult is it to make butterfly bush cuttings? I have a beautiful12 foot Dark Knight Butterfly Bush (purple buddleia davidii (SP?)) from which I would like to bring some started cuttings.

Thanks,

Chuck

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Great Chuck I`ll take one of each, but no chickens. lol i`m kidding. Bring food I`m hungry. I want to meet you since I have been following your other thread and health.

Modesto, CA(Zone 8b)

Yep Weegy! I'm coming can't wait to meet you for reals! I'm with Chuck as far as my cuttings go, I'll be bringing plants, just don't know what will be looking right when it's time....ah well....surprise! As for "Chatbrat".....I believe she's "down under" at the moment so she won't make this RU. I think I'll hit the vintage store looking for some fun "fiesta-wear".....LOL!

K

Crossville, TN

I can't believe that I will get to meet Kachinagirl AT LAST!!!

I'm getting antsy.....have to start packing.....and re-packing....and re-packing.....well....I will be gone a month! Not to CA...but points EAST! Jo

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Kachinagirl, it's been a while since we chatted - I'm glad you're making it to the RU this year. It will be nice to meet the other "K."

Kathleen

Chuck - I would love a hen and chicks. I have Tropicana cannas, some Aloe ciliais, a couple starts of a rose geranium that has been happily growing in full sun here in Phoenix for over 50 years, and a few other things that might be ready. Does anyone want some pink Grapefruit? Have a tree full yet getting nice and sweet.
Oh Dovey - in Ohio they call green peppers, Mangos. Or at least they used to. My mother's Ohio Grange cookbook has stuffed mango recipes. We also "red up" when company is coming - like in - we gotta "red up" this place, Aunt Miriam is coming over. Harold

Red up? As in get ready.. *L* I think I like that one.
I'm making a mental note about the peppers vs mangos, not knowing could really screw up a recipe

Modesto, CA(Zone 8b)

Back atcha K! There are soooooo many people I'm looking forward to meeting! I'm incredibly excited about FINALLY being able to come! My husband is getting tired of me talking about it constantly....I think he'll be glad when I finally drive off....LOL. He'll probably even help me pack my car!

K

As in get ready>>> Yes. I once spelled it "read" as a contraction for "to get ready" in a college report on Ohio colloquialisms and was told in no uncertain terms it was spelled "red". I have no idea why it is spelled that way, but we all know college professors have the last word - especially when they are grading your report. Harold

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

Kachinagirl,

We have been fans of yours for quite sometime now. We can hardly wait to meet you.

See you at the RU,

Chuck and Loida
