Hi everyone... I have missed you guys... but DG was off limits for me... I took the NCLEX wed and in about 2 hrs I will know if I passed or not.... so to help me not to think about it last night I planted 72 seeds - all chianti sunflowers... and tons of daturas seeds....
next week my favorite nursery opens Mar 16th.... I have the day off so I can finally take my friend Laura to lunch after we go plant shopping.... pansies and if I find any crocus I am buying some and maybe Spring will come faster if I put them outside???!!!!!

Hi Kassia,
Good luck with your results. I'm sure all will be fine and you'll have reason to celebrate in your garden!
Victor
ok... I passed!!! I can officially add the letters after my name!!!!!! oooooooohhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
I keep my home at 67 during the day and 63 at night. However I feel just fine. Ever since I had my second daughter 2 years ago my body thermostat is out of whack! I am always so hot all the time. My poor dh tries to sneak up the heat every so often but I catch him and put it back to where it was LOL LOL Mean eh?
Yippeee Kassia!! Good job Nurse Kassia!!!!
Congratulations, Kassia, RN! Dawn, I hear you. As I tell my wife, why in the world do we have winter clothes and warm comforters anyway?!
Carrie, iris with freezer burn. I like that phrase. It really fits. I think they'll bloom. They better! I wait all year for the bearded!
AYankeeCat, how do you stand it that cold? Poor sissy cats. They can handle 130° temps but I don't know how cold. I have a sissy on my lap right now. Makes it hard to type. I gotta get a dog!
Dave and Victor, ROTFL!! Allergies! Glad I don't have them.... yet.
Pixie, That's cold ! Brrrrr. Rain can bring June roses here! June is my favorite month.
Kassia, that's a lot of seeds!! Congratulations! Nurses are very special people. I truly believe that.
Dawn, I sleep better in a cool bedroom. Note, not cold! :))
Victor, I don't mind dressing up, but if my hands are cold I'm uncomfortable.
It's been raining since this morning. the ground is still pretty much frozen, so we have yard puddles.
I don't think I explained Buzzy Bee on this thread.
Grandma, that's me, gets to run around the house pulling Buzzy Bee while Grandson chases along behind. I can be in the kitchen fixing dinner and I hear Gramma, pull Buzzy bee. He loves it! Buzzy Bee is in the mess in the earlier picture.
Thanks billy - you just gave me an idea. I'm getting a Buzzy Bee for my wife to run around the house with. That should keep her warmer!
ROTFL!!
I also have the teddy bear that plays the xylephone.
Victor, I was just thinking of 'activity' to keep warm, LOL.
A great big congratulations to you, Kassia. Well done.
I keep the house at 64 F at night and 68 days, unless it's sunny. On sunny days the thermostat is set at 60. The house faces south with big windows letting all that warm sun in. It's often 70 on a sunny day, even very cold days it's comfortable if it's bright sun.
Billy, is this you?
Andy P
House is set between 68-70, but if i'm cold I turn it up. If DH crabs, I turn it back down and build a fire in the fireplace. I stay in the livingroom and he can have the rest of the house or he can strip a layer of clothing off....his choice!
Kassia, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Good for you!
Dawn, Your marriage has reverse sex roles when it comes to the thermostat. Mostly men want it cooler and wives want it warmer.
My DW has now reached the stage of life where she is turning the thermostat down. It is a welcome change. (Perhaps I should rephrase that)
Congratulations Kassia!
our thermostat is set at 65.
Dave, I used to work with a guy who disconnected the thermostat wires and put a different one up somewhere else that his wife did not know about. She thought she was turning up the temperature and was doing nothing. Of course she caught on after a while. That might explain his hospital stay that time.
They keep it warm at the hospital.
Not to mention the warm flow of blood on his skin.
I may have mentioned this before, but I am basically cold blooded, I rely on outside sources of heat to keep warm. My house used to be tight but now it's full of holes! It used to be 74 during theay and 60 - something at night. Now the patio door doesn't shut all the way and it's only got one layer of glass left, the front door isn't too great either, the bathroom remodel still needs to be caulked because cold air is pouring in through the seam! And them there's the cat door - no cat! This coooold weather is too cold for our *n*e*w* gas burner, the house only gets into the 50s and 60s. And the gas bills - well, we won't go there.
I do commend you all on your energy saving Yankee skinflint behavior!
xxxxx, Carrie
Skinflint ~ cool word.
LOL
Don't let my wife learn that word, please.
Skinflint! Humph. I'm just saving money on oil bills so that I can buy fruit trees this year! I thought all Yankees were frugal.
We are! No Boston Heralds, no drive-thrus, no allowance for the kids!

Andy, how wonderful, and it's yellow!! Yellow says spring to me. thanks for the pic :0)
well, if you're only as old as you feel, we feel old. so our thermostat is on 71. sunny days it just doesn't go on as much (we have a big sunroom with lots of glass on the south side of the house). for many years it was 68 days and 62 nights.
I always say the thermostats at work are just for show. I'm convinced they don't connect to anything.
I'll agree with that, gram, just like in hospitals. We'd love a sunroom, and we even know where we'd put it, unfortunately it's on the North side.
Oh, Andy, how great! My DH doesn't allow crocuses in the lawn, he can't stand waiting for the foliage to ripen. Luckily we've got a lot of flowers in the yard which is really like a side garden, I've got to stick some in there. Also glory-of-the-snow and snowdrops and stop me before I start drooling!
xxx, Carrie
Hi... thanks everyone... it feels really good.... I am still thinking is just a dream!
Gram right now I feel old... I am exausted after a trip to Ikea... gosh that place is huge... I had to go back for more pots... really cute things!!!
Carrie, If you can find these, I think they are called Cream Beauty, you can plant them in the lawn. They are very small with short leaves that the mower will hardly touch.
We are expecting a warm week, they will pop up like crazy. The lawn is still dead looking. No problem.
It's the Chionodoxa, Grape Hyacinth and regular Crocus that get clipped. I even have a few old Tulips in the lawn, left over from an old perennial bed.
Andy P
I used to have rules for the thermostat. Never on before Oct 15, always off by April 15,etc. Then I married someone who had the crazy notion that you turn the heat on when you are cold. Totally defying the customs of my depression era parents and the areas rich Yankee tradition!
Tomorrow, we will be married 18 years and this is not the least of the many things she taught me.
Congratulations, Dave47 and MrsDave47.
Happy Anniversary Dave & DW!!! Hope you have many, many more WARM ones!
Happy Anniversary, Dave and Mrs. Dave!! Will be 16 for us in June. Feels like it was only an eternity ago. Just kidding. As for the temperature / gender thing, we have a hot tub that my wife says is too hot. In the Summer, even if the pool is in the mid - 80's, it's too cold. I had no idea I married Goldilocks!
Happy Daylight Savings to everyone on the forum!!
Got a new refrigerator so that the evil cat won't open it to get food and forget to shut it again, also I saw my last electric bill - yikes!. The harvest gold monster had to go! The really sad thing is that I forgot to take the stuff out of the egg, butter and vegetable crisper - so the metal recycler got my rhubarb starts that I had chillin' until the weather broke. The new one is smaller and energy star rated - but it doesn't have any bells and whistles - like a drawer for lunch meat and a shelf in the freezer. Guess I got to draw on some of that old Yankee ingenuity and invent them for myself. Every time I shut the refrigerator door - the freeze door opens and closes - guess I still need a child-proof lock - this time for the freezer door. I let the evil cat check out the new fridge so he won't open the door and go looking for cat crunchies again (I hope).
Thanks everyone. I was taken to one of my favorite Italian Restaurants last night. The one I took her to when I proposed.
Returning to the scene of the crime??! Just kidding of course. Very romantic. I too proposed at an Italian restaurant. Needed comfort food in case the answer was negative.
She brought me back to the scene of the crime!
We have now equaled our 18 years of being buddies with 18 years of marriage, Umm, or should I say to total 36 years of being buddies.
No, I think you had it right the first time.
Well, Dave, a very happy anniversary to you and Mrs 47. I think if she is both good enough to deserve you AND good enough to put up with you for 18 years it is a wonderful thing and deserves to be celebrated in high style :-)
My DH proposed by handing me a valentine candy that said "MARRY ME", you know, the kind that says "U 4 ME" or "HOT STUFF". Then we were unofficially engaged for a while, while his divorce became final, then we were officially engaged, and then we got married.
xxx, Carrie
That's cute.
Congratulations Dave!!!
I met my hubby at my cousin's wedding. His proposal wasn't very romantic though - we were in a heated "discussion" when he proposed LOL We have been together now almost 10 years and happily married for 6 next month :)
Dawn, do you mean married for 10, but happy for 6?? That's the way it looked!! I'm sure not. When people ask about our relationship I respond, "We're not in a relationship - we're married". I am just joking - we do have a great marriage.
